Why did they have to close? This was the best location. They were always consistent with store hours and customer service. I’m sad to see them go.

I stumbled upon this place by following a trail of lettuce and tomatoes. It was a strange sight, I thought, but hell, I had nothing else to do. Needless to say, island salad was a GREAT find! I still remember the first salad I bought from there and the orgasm I had in my mouth because of it. The juices were on point, too. I just hope they reopen soon. I’ve never looked forward to eating vegetables so much!

Great food, great service. I’ve placed an order for delivery and ordered in store, both great service wise. I’m especially happy that they are now accepting orders online, keeps things quick and easy. My favorites are the Baja salad and island breeze drink.

Closed!!! This sucks because there are hardly any good salad shops in Harlem. I hope Island reopens on 125th!

My first time at this restaurant. Was very impressed with the amount of optionsthey offered for salads. Not many salad spots offer fish options besides necoise salads so I was happy to see the salmon and tilapia options offered here. Chicken was the choice that was eventually made just to be safe so I went with the island tropical salad. The amount of food in the bowl is easily for two servings. I had a combination of sauces which I can’t recall their names but sounded islandy. I was about to make the salad into a burrito when I read the packaging of the burrito wraps and saw it had 480 mg of sodium in each one. Being that that’s something I try to keep under control I just left it in the bowl form and enjoyed it to the fullest. I was also glad I got it in bowl form because the amount of rice in the bowl gave me more than enough carbs for my meal. Carbs are the enemies ! But anyhow, Really nice flavors from the bowl with the black beans, rice, lettuce, chicken, peppers mango salsa and avocado. My only wish was that I should have gotten less sauce as the lovely lady that served me was heavy handed with it. I will surely be back to try different combinations and find my happy medium has the potential to replace my burrito and salad spots.

All of the reports are true. This location is definitely with it the top 10 of places to order a salad or wrap in Harlem. I wish the same could be said for their sister location on Lenox Avenue, but I will leave that for another day. Unlike the Lenox location, the staff here actually don’t mind having jobs and maybe even enjoy it. The location is superbly clean and even boasts a free lemon water station as well as a bathroom. On a nice day, you will find the place packed but that only means you can have a seat in the rear patio area. Sweet! You can order a custom salad but in all honesty they have some pretty awesome combinations to choose from, so why not take a chance? I thoroughly enjoy their Gone Fishing salad as it literally came with tuna, salmon, tilapia, shrimp, romaine lettuce, roasted red peppers, cheddar & mozzarella cheese, and corn salsa. Even though they were out of the corn salsa, they gladly offered to substitute with any item of my choosing(got the chopped cucumbers). Be prepared to eat well because their portions are quite filling. If you ever fear not being full from a salad, trust that your fears are unfounded. Great customer service abounds and the atmosphere is relaxed. Oh and make sure to try their juices and drinks(these are also a nice size too).

It’s tough to find healthy options around here with all the soul food and fast food options! But luckily island salad saves the day. You can make your own salad or they have a variety of types that you can choose from. They are made right in front of you so which is nice. However, with that being said the service is slow. They take a while with each customer and the staff can be all over the place. My favorites are the asian rasta and island jerk.

I swear I have like an hour trying to call to place an delivery order. When it comes to pick up and delivery orders don’t even waste your time calling because you’ll get no where. Don’t know why they offer services that they can’t commit to. This place is very unorganized I’ve gave island salad so many tries and they never fail to disappoint me. And It’s sad to say that I will never be calling or coming back to this place.

Harlem has been going through phases of gentrification, and with that– there has been a surge of healthier eateries popping up on 125th, where blocks are lined with fish fry’s and fast food options. Unfortunately for this place, people will take the option because there’s very few available. The salad is chosen by the patron and made directly behind the glass counter in a Chipotle style manner. The ingredients are not extraordinary, just your average greens with chicken and other add-ins. One thing I think would help the business is if they gave out prefix cards that customers just fill out with pencils at the counter and hand to the cashier on what salad they’d like and how it’s made. Employees don’t ask how you like it, so depending on who you get and the fact that they toss the salad for you in a metal bowl, you might just end up with an incredibly drenched salad. Which was exactly what I got.

Good salads and many options to choose from. Not that filling if you are hungry. The portions are quite small. The burritos or wraps are ok. I would like them better if it not were from their spicy sauces. My girlfriend got food sick from this place so I never came back

Can’t complain about healthy food at this price. Added bonus — it’s delicious. Bob Marley? Amazing. Wait was a bit long, but I’ve dealt with worse!

Excellent, fresh, delicious, healthy. You should eat here. Drop everything, stop what you’re doing and go there now. They are waiting for you with big smiles and beyond tasty original food and drinks. My fave is the Venus De Milo. Get it on a roasted garlic wrap. The menu calls for it to include chopped pita inside. Skip that and add the Chinese Crunchy noodles instead.

This place is incredible — one of the best burritos I’ve ever had and way better than any Mexican food. Highly recommended, especially if you’re catching the bus to the airport.

BESTSPOTINHARLEMFORAFFORDABLEDELICIOUSHEALTHYFOOD. I’ve been living in Harlem for 7 months and this is my Go To lunch spot. Definitely a calm island vibe and chill staff. Chris Terrell and Melisa are the shit. I usually walk and tell them what I’m feeling like eating and I let them get creative. Salads and burritos all day

Best burrito I’ve had ever! Unique for sure but soo sooo good! Downside is there is no organization. No one knows where to order from. And it’s more expensive than chipotle burritos.

Their menu is yummy and healthy(if you want it to be healthy) and the staff is very friendly. What’s wrong is the wait. You’ll likely spend there about 20 minutes to get your single order, even if you’re the only customer. The staff could use some training, they are really nice, but don’t treat the customer in front of them as priority eg. I had to wait for them to finish chatting before I was given attention. Or I’ve been cashed out while the cashier was sorting out her private matters on her cell phone. Also, witnessed the same cashier’s argument with a customer get physical another time. Whoa.

Nestled in the center of Harlem, among mostly fast food restaurants, Island Salad is a nice respite from those burgers and fries. The folks at Island Salad were super friendly and helpful. They even let me try the iced tea(which was sweet for anyone wondering). I had a jerk chicken salad, which was quite tasty, In order to really make the salad healthy, aside from those full of bacon etc., is to get your dressing very light or on the side. They also have wraps and sandwiches. The make your own salad is also a solid deal and easily just as good as the salad chains. Here, you support a local business and get tasty fresh ingredients at the same time. If you’re around here or going to the DMV, this is a good spot for lunch.
