Shopped here a few times, staff was usually helpful but store manager was rude when trying to perform exchange.

I couldn’t be happier with my experience at JackRabbit today. Extremely knowledgeable, friendly, patient, efficient service (thank you Mike!). Tried eight different pairs of running shoes on the treadmill after a quick gait analysis, and I walked out with two pairs I can’t wait to run in. I’ll definitely be back for all of my running needs!

How often have you quit while on the perfect run because of shin splits, feet aching, etc?
My friend and I went to Jackrabbit with high hopes of resolving our runners issues and did not leave disappointed!
We went in Sunday afternoon and it was relatively busy, not sure how this spot is normally as it was we were first timers. Upon approval the staff was very nice and was happy to help us! We each ran/​waked on the treadmill as the staff took videos of our feet to determine the best shoes available.
We were fortunate enough to be helped by Kyle, who was extremely knowledgeable and was patient while we shopped around. He explained the variety of running shoes available and how the structure of shoes differs. The store itself had many shoes to choose from — brands, colors, style, firm/​soft — certainly offered something to fit everyone’s preferences. The prices were extremely reasonable as well, so there’s no excuse not to visit this spot!

Love this store. Always spot on with my running shoes. Although, decided to go for another brand this time, got home ran in them and they were not good support for my ankles, so went back and they were so cool with helping me with my exchange. Favorite spot for my running stuff.

Served with patience, informed support and courtesy. Bought the right trainers and the gentleman who served my daughter couldn’t have been kinder. Excellent

Stopped by again because a friend told me they were having a sale. GREAT DEALS! OMG!!! On Great Well-​Respected Brands for Running. It’s Always best to get here ASAP if you ever hear of a Sale here. I was also able to find out the name of the smart lady who helped me recently when I bought my HOKA one one Bondi 4 – I had come in on crutches. Her name is Charity. Today Corrin and Charity helped me. Thank you to both knowledgeable ladies. You made my shopping experience vey pleasant & even fun.
Whether you WALK OR RUN in our great city, or anywhere for that matter, I highly recommend THE NEW YORK RUNNING COMPANY. They know running shoes.

After being loyal to Nike for years through my first half marathon to my fifth, it wasn’t going to be easy to make the switch. The staff at NY Running Company took their time with me (coughcough was there for 2 hours!) and really let me test the products out. I am very happy with my new Brooks + some extra gear to use for future runs post eating my face off at brunch.

Came here to pick up some chews and will probably go back when I need more. My fear when going to speciality shops like this is that the people working and the clientele can make it feel a bit intimidating. like a closed circle of friends if you’re new to arena (e.g. a first time half-​marathon runner who had no idea what ‘chews’ were until 5 minutes ago). Luckily the staff here were friendly and helpful. The selection of gels and chews was good — all the major brands. They also had a decent selection of gear and shoes, although I think you’re better off shopping online if you want the full range of options (but you can come here to get fitted for the right size)

I am more of a read reviews than write ‘em kinda girl, but my experience at New York Running Company inspired me to share my thoughts. After reading the excellent reviews here on Unilocal,I decided to try. I’m so glad I did!
Sue was awesome! So helpful, patient, insightful… She took her time, encouraged us to walk around the store, we easily spent an hour trying on shoes and discussing fit. Who knew???
I am a newbie, and was intimidated by the process, but I felt really comfortable and Sue was kind and not sales-​y at all.

Such a great experience that I’m writing this on the train ride one from the store! I’m a novice runner, kind of embarrassed that I’m so bad at it but working hard to get better. Sarah at the 3^rd ave store was super encouraging, didn’t talk down to me at all and helped me find a shoe that I should be running in (no more shin splints!) she even gave me a bunch of tips on improving. RUN (get it?!?) don’t walk to get fitted with the NY running co team.

This is an excellent, specialized running outlet that I have found myself going back to consistently. I strolled in there one day looking for a new pair of shoes, and was helped greatly by staff in the store. They not only allowed me to try on several pairs, but also offered me advice on marathon training and how to narrow down the overwhelming variety of nutrition options for longer runs.
I highly recommend this location for new or veteran runners! Bonus: you can stop by Whole Foods for some necessary grocery shopping on the way out of the Columbus Circle outlet.

This place is amazing. I’m new to running, and needed a good pair of shoes due to very sensitive knees always aching after my runs (I was wearing Nike trainers with not nearly enough support). I also just wanted to get my gait examined to make sure I was running correctly.
The sales associate Norm was super nice and he helped me out for a good half hour. He first had me put on a pair of generic running Nikes with a lot of flex to them and put me on the treadmill to observe my running style, which he video taped so I could see it in slow motion as well. Then, based on how I run (which is with correct form after all), he decided a neutral shoe was best, and chose neutral styles in Brooks, Nike, New Balance, and Asics for me to try on. He picked ones with some extra cushioning because I told him my knees bother me easily, so he kept everything in mind when making his choices.
Then he let me use the treadmill in each of the pairs to see what felt best. I decided on the Brooks Glycerin which were $ 150 because they fit my foot best, but they had other pairs for much less.
Overall, I definitely recommend this place! And if you can get Norm to help you, all the better :) I’ll definitely be back for any other running needs in the future.

Excellent experience. My husband needed running shoes and the saleswoman took her time, analyzing his feet, walk etc. She pulled six different shoes for him to try and stayed with us the entire time until he was happy with one. Great customer service.

Staff was so incredibly helpful. Two associates watched me run and did a footprint analytic test. Having done run tests before, I’ve only ever been guided to specific shoes. These two immediately identified my need for an insert in the left for over pronation and to balance out my gate. They did a second run test which showed immediate improvement of my overpronation. After, they patiently worked through about 14 different running shoes… just as I was about to throw in the towel they brought me a hail mary shoe and it was a perfect match!

I don’t take picking out running shoes lightly. My roommate and I were able to get a comprehensive gait analysis. It was fairly easy. I arrived in gym clothes, while my roommate came straight from work. Either or is fine. They’ll give you clean socks and shoes for the analysis. They’ll ask you to jump on the treadmill and their monitor your stride for a few seconds. You’ll be able to see your stride in front of you on the big screen. In fact, EVERYONE in there will be able to see your stride. After they check for pronation, they then will ask you to step on another monitoring device that checks your arch style. Once the analysis is complete, they’ll let you know what types of shoes will best work for your feet. They have a great selection of running shoes and running socks. I believe the have a new rewards program as well — spend over $ 200 and get $ 20 off of your next purchase… total win!

I visited the 3^rd Avenue location this morning and had a very positive experience. I am not a runner and knew that I needed quite a bit of help selecting walking sneakers. My daughter suggested that I try the NY Running Company and she was right. Michelle, who assisted me, was knowledgable and pleasant from the start and educated me on running vs. walking shoes. I felt listened to and well taken care during my visit and found a great pair of shoes. Because the atmosphere of the store is very relaxed and Michelle and the additional staff were so patient, I was able to select a few additional items that I think will be terrific for my feet. I’m going to recommend the NY Running Company to friends and will treat my daughter to a visit and new running shoes.

After taking some voodoo measurements they tricked me into buying expensive shoes and insoles that turned out to be the worst running shoes I’ve ever had. My foot hurts from the shoe, and it is falling apart after just a couple of runs.

the staff is not as knowledgable as the columbus circle store with Nyles and Jerry, but it is still the 2^nd best running store in NYC. i had issues with a pair of brooks and i got a new pair. i recommend this store although i do prefer to work with nyles,. just this store is local.

What patient, kind, encouraging and supportive sales people. Everyone here is knowledgeable about a sport they are passionate about and want to help you get the best performance possible. When looking for shoes, the folks here will take incredible time and care to introduce you to the perfect shoe for your running gait. Then there are the great free group runs they host 2x a week just to get people more into a sport that some folks (like me!) even hate!
There’s a wonderful family feel in this expansive store. You can find some decent prices on sale items, but be warned that most things are pretty pricey (I only ended up getting my perfect shoes here thanks to a 15% off offer for those running together with them on New Year’s Day). Also they seem to pick out things they like, and the selections can be a bit limited — but always good.

Best service I’ve ever had in a running store. Too bad the shoes I got are so durable/​comfortable/​perfect that I won’t have an excuse to go back anytime soon.

I’ve been looking to replace my running sneakers (Asics GT-2130’s which I got great use out of). I wanted to get fitted for a sneaker and just found this place as I was walking throughout the City one Saturday. I was very happy with the individual attention I got and the running assessment that they performed on me which involved running on a treadmill that was hooked up to a tv for about 30 seconds. My sales rep was a young lady who was very attentive and slowed down the footage as we watched and explained to me what I needed to consider in a shoe for the way I run. She brought out a pair of Asics and Saucony for me to try on. I’m a big fan of Asics, but I liked the feel of the Saucony that I tried on so I ended up getting those. I probably could have gotten the same pair on Amazon for a little cheaper but decided to buy them from NYRC because of their customer service.
I will definitely come back here again in the future :-).

I needed running shoes, and I got running shoes. Cool place. They told me to get on a treadmill and run so they could record my form and what shoes would be best for my feet. That was fun. I’ll go back. Need running shoes? Go here.

Not really going out of business — just moving two doors down!
Either this was a great ploy to get rid of a lot of old merch, or they got lucky with a nearby real estate find. We may never know. But I’m happy they’ll stay in the ‘hood!
