Jack’s

I mean, you can’t really complain about this store. Everything is ultra cheap! Cosmetics, toiletries, food, furniture… you name it! I’ve been frequenting this store for a little over 3 years now and it never fails to please.
I gave this location four stars instead of five, mainly because there has been times when I’ve been shopping and I feel as though security is way too aggressive. Meaning, I feel as though they are breathing down my neck and practically shopping WITH me. It doesn’t make me feel comfortable for someone to follow me around the store like they are expecting me to steal something. I hate this aspect of shopping at Jacks at times. Also, I think the cashiers need to be on ONE accord… meaning…if someone has a debit/​credit card, I.D. EVERYONE *ALL* OF THE TIME AND NOT JUST… SOMETIMES. There have been a few times when I have filled up my basket and went to pay, and I couldn’t get anything because I forgot my ID. My fault of course. I understand the policy, however, if I shop there at another time, and I am able to pay without an ID, that just spells inconsistency. Maybe I’m being nitpicky, but I do appreciate consistency.
Overall, great store. :)

Convenient location to buy what you need for a low price. Not all the items are 99cents but most of the items are. The things here are not poor in quality either! This place is really good for visitors who may have forgotten to pack something or anyone who needs something in emergency.
I like to stop by here if I need something real quick but don’t want to spend that much money. Here I get the same brands or different brand but good quality for a good price. There are two floors and tons of things to buy. Pretty much all the essential items are here.
I bought snacks and drinks, shoe inserts, and sandals when my heels were killing me while walking around NYC. There aren’t specific lines to wait in for the checkout but try to stay in a general line or else some will cut in line because it’s hard to tell.
I like that there is store security and lot of employees around to help and for the customers’ safety.

This place is ALWAYS packed and it is a bit hard to navigate considering; but what can you expect from a place with tons of bargains and deals. I seem to always get sucked into buying nick-​nacks when before I entered the store I told myself only one thing. They have everything you need and don’t need but need to have, all in one place.
Minus one star because ultimately you’re rarely able to find an associate to regulate and or to get some help. Nothing major

Little hard to navigate, gets really crowded during the holidays. But there’s a lot to look at that’s worthwhile.

Didn’t find much here. I was hoping to snag some cheaper household products like paper towels and face wash but the inventory is lacking. It’s not worth the commute through tourists in herald square and it’s not worth weaving through the aisles full of people either. Just an average shop.

This Jack’s location is worth walking to from where I work near Rockefeller! It has more than 1 floor (whereas the 40^th street location has only 1 floor) and you can find EVERYTHING you can think of! I got their cotton rounds for 99 cents and they work just as well, if not better, than the $ 2 ones I get from Target. Definitely go here for your cheap house goods

Haven’t been for years. Just came in to pickup some cheap soap and discount hair gel. About to check out with my basket when what looked like a sparrow flew past me and some Jack’s employees who were restocking. But it wasn’t a bird. And it was flying towards the floor. It stopped flapping.
IT WAS A GIGANTIC FLYING COCKROACH.
It scuttled under a wall of chips and such and I stood stunned. But I was the only one. The Jack’s employees didn’t even notice the HAND sized bug that apparently just went back to his condo where you keep your weirdly flavored Bugles.
So I calmly put down my full basket and walked out. But if I may, as someone who’s been away for a bit, two questions.
1) When did Jack’s get giant flying COCKROACHES?
2) and when did it turn into something that NO ONE EVEN BLINKS AT?
If you want me I’ll be at home. Not sleeping.

Everything you need (and everything you don’t need) in one place? Sign me up! I had a hard time wrapping my head around everything they have in here, but I can’t imagine getting my cleaning supplies anywhere else. They have housewares, furnishings, clothing, costumes, and even food! It’s a superstore.

Huge discount store with most of the things you could ever want. I’ve bought a bunch of things here, like an awesome blender for under $ 30. They have a variety of foods (outside of groceries), like canned goods and junk food on the first floor, and the second floor is where it’s at for kitchen-​related items. It’s still not a complete collection (for example, they don’t have box graters or oven-​safe containers with lids), but it’s still fun to stroll the store and see what fun goods they have to offer.

Literally one of the best 99¢ stores in all of NYC.
I found a dress steamer for under $ 30 that I was looking for like crazy everywhere. Finally found it.
They also sell ELF cosmetics and a bunch of things you wouldn’t find and would have to order online.
It’s right next to the Manhattan mall which is convenient, no pun intended.
I bought a phone line extender that my mother needed for her home and a iPhone 4 charger that actually works. All for one dollar.
I wish the aisle signs had written what each aisle actually contains so you aren’t running through each aisle trying to find it but then again I guess it makes you buy more and look at each item wondering if you need it or not. More than likely you convince your self that you do.
Great store, deff coming here again after pay day.

Stay on the 1^st floor, as everything on the 2^nd and 3^rd floors aren’t 99cents, and are in fact more expensive than outside!
Otherwise, I always come here and spend a lot more money than I want because things are just so cheap, I get easily suckered in. You’ve got your party goods, office goods, food, medication, toiletries. They even have some good brands like Vaseline and so, so definitely come and check it out.
Deducted a star because the staff are always so rude. I know your stock is huge, but everyone always gives me a cold shoulder.

i remember coming here when i was younger lol. you can basically get a whole load of stuff and cheap! and it is in Midtown manhattan cant beat that. There are some items that are knock off stuff but i mean me personally i don’t care i get it as a deal lol. but there are 3 floors of just so many items you can look for. it can get busy when you have tourists and people off work going into her as well.

Godsend. You can get any and everything you want or need (or don’t wan’t or need) in this place at a pretty amazing discounted price.
Toiletries, candy, umbrellas, groceries, cleaning products, random articles of clothing, suitcases, school supplies, kitchen supplies, toys… I wouldn’t be surprised if they sold people in one of their back rooms. I love Jack’s

The cashiers here are slower than molasses. Sometimes I think they intentionally move at the pace of a snail to spite the customers (rightfully) growing impatient.
That said, you can’t beat the prices for brand name goods. It’s a mix of crappy and decent brands, so be on the lookout and you’ll do well.

They are like a big 99 cent store big discounts everywhere. 3 floors of a warehouse size building and they sell everything. I mean everything!!! Even groceries … They had some pain killers for 2.00 $ can u imagine !

I think they have affair deal but still think the quality of fresh foods like bread are low quality. The whole products with cheap prices equal to low quality. But still satisfied.
for the credit card holder authority. I was in an urgent to purchase school applies and finally found this place. They accept credit card only with your name.
And there was a crazy guy that was really crazy. He talked to me like sh.
Therefore, no good experiences.

This was 4 – 5 stars for the past few years. But, today, Jack’s revamped their aisles, and have none of the cool stuff they used to in the 99-​cent section. The kitchen utensils section is COMPLETELY gone. It used to be awesome, a place to grab a random utensil you needed but didn’t want to spend on a high-​end version. Now, they are sort of available upstairs in the area where everything is like $ 3.00. Mason jars all went up in price too, not 99 cents anymore. And not a great selection of cute décor or seasonal at all, either. What a let down! They’re trying to charge higher prices without giving good enough stuff, or enough of a selection. No longer a fan! I will only come here when necessary.

The motto of this store should be — Characters welcome. If you are willing to brave the few oddballs, there are many deals to be found here. They have a wide array of product including household goods, food [check expiration date], furniture, office supplies and beauty products. Every time I visit this discount haven I always walk out with a bag of goodies. Do be warned, don’t expect top grade quality on some of the stuff — as the saying goes, you get what you pay for.

Junk, Junk, Junk…
Like the saying goes… one’s man junk is another’s treasure. Ooh, something useful, ooh look something else useful. Besides the 7 out of 10 useless items I personally overlook to not waste money, for just 99 cents or more and the tax, I admit useful stuff can also be fount here. It’s like a place to browse, interesting what you can find for a dollar.
I have been in here a few times for cheap candy, cheap chocolates, cereal bars at 99 cents (rather than paying $ 3 to $ 5 a box at regular supermarket). I think I came here a few years ago just looking around and bought, for the whim of it, a set of breakfast dine ware (if you can call it dine ware) which included a bowl, cup and spoon/​fork for like $ 15. Nothing says cool like eating breakfast out of a set of Tony the Tiger breakfast ware. Cheap electronics like headphones, remote control cars and radios are on the upper levels. You can find household, pantry/​frozen foods and hygiene products here. This would be a place I’d come to get cheap shaving cream and cleaning supplies. I think people come here looking to find something for everyday use at a lower price than the local supermarket. For example I was once able to find an 80z bottle of Extra Virgin olive oil at a sale price for $ 2! Maybe they were overstocked, getting expired or it was crap/​fake olive oil but $ 2. There have been times I bought nothing and just browsed around. But who doesn’t like an everyday bargain hunt?

Not all junk, some items are cheap and useful, hmm maybe useful, somewhat, nah put it back on the shelf, Junk.

Le moins que l’on puisse dire, c’est qu’il y a un peu de tout chez Jack !!! Bricolage, alimentation, valises, vêtements pas chers, petit électroménager, enfin, c’est un peu en fonction des arrivées que Jack fait et défait sa boutique…
Au rez de chausser tout est a 99 cents… Mais au 1er et 2ème les prix grimpent légèrement… Mais rien de bien méchant et d’ailleurs les prix sont en rapport avec la marchandise vendu chez Jack ! :-)

Oh my, how you have grown.
Now that I’ve grown up I don’t frequent Jacks that often, but have done so more recently.
The first floor consists of purely 99cent items. From household items, to kitchen items, gifting things to food (yes, food) can all be here. When I was in college we would buy imitation cheese by the bagfull (don’t judge, we didn’t know. yes, it tasted like garbage) but we were also able to get closeout granola bars and whatnot for a buck. You can still do this, which is great.
The other two floors are pricier items, but still good deals. I love coming to Jacks for random stuff that just happens to be there, it’s like a surprise is awaiting you when you walk through those glass doors!
Oh, and Jacks is the devil. Just don’t go in with a credit card. Just bring like $ 5. Really!
