I am not really a fan of their style of brewing. It’s not strong enough, nor all that flavorful.

Don’t let the vegan idea push you away. I went here to get something to drink/eat while waiting in line for brunch somewhere else. The apple cider doughnut/coffee from Jack’s stir was better than the brunch I had after. It’s the perfect place when you want something to warm yourself up and go for a walk in the fall. will go back when walking around the area.

One star is for the coffee — when its done right. Their regular coffee is either too weak or too bitter — never in the middle — so I have to order their lattes — which is another issue. I don’t have any food allergy/dietary restriction, but they do have a great selection for people who are on a gluten-free diet. so another star for that. Pricing is standard for the area. I’ve had a few off putting experiences here, hence I will not be returning. It’s not a place for me — the staff, I have found, is less than helpful if there are any issues.

food: vegan organic and DELICIOUS in-house baked goods with gluten free options? Um… YESPLEASE coffee: their cold brew is 2 die 4, and their own house blend that they serve is excellent hot as well. couldn’t praise their iced matcha more — try it with almond milk and you will not be disappointed. staff: amazing people with seemingly endless capacity for remembering customers! this place has a lot of «regulars» and the staff’s ability to crank out their drinks makes the line at this place go by quickly even during the insane morning hours. they get my drink right EVERYTIME. also they are all mad cute — i am not afraid to say it! never tried any of their egg breakfast options, as i am vegan. people complain about the price but i would pay the extra $ 3(i’m including tip and comparing the price of a large to a dunkin donuts large) dollars per cold brew to know that it is not coffee that was brewed hot and then iced later. nothing is more crushing than the sting of «iced coffee» masqueraded as cold brew for 3.75 on the tongue. Cute little coffee shop. Ok coffee. Great staff. Love the outdoor seating perfect for people watching. Average drink is like 6 dollars. Little pricey for my taste but location is everything.

We walked into Jack’s for a quick cup of coffee to go. Good service, good coffee. Can’t say much else.

Their coffee is good, but nothing else is. It’s a tiny place and at times there are 4 – 5 people behind the counter loafing around. The service is very bad, it’s so unorganized and at times I wait for my order and the staff is just talking. Their bagels and cookies are hard and almost stale at time. It’s so disappointing that I would go to Dunkin Donuts to get better service.

My new favorite coffee place. I’m a freak and drink iced coffee year round, and their Teddy Boy absolutely does the trick — it’s a shot of espresso shaken over ice with cream and sugar. Their coffee is VERY strong, not for the faint of heart. Also their apple cider and blackout donuts are freaking amazing.

My favorite coffee place in the world. Before I stopped eating carbs, I’d come in for a stir brew and a cinnamon raisin bagel with cream cheese every morning before work. So, so good. I still come in for just the coffee. I moved to FiDi though, so now I go to the Front st location every morning. The coffee is great, the baristas are nice and funny, and there’s usually a seat open.

Jack’s made me like coffee. Some background: for many years, long into young adulthood, I truly hated coffee. Since outgrowing the early«yuck» response of childhood, I’ve proudly been game to try and retry various foods and flavors again and again, and for a long time coffee remained a flavor from which I instinctively recoiled. Eventually it was more a point of shame than of pride, as I realized I was missing out on an important aspect of NYC — nay, global — culture in being perpetually uninterested in «getting coffee». So one day when I was particularly underslept and desperate for a workday appropriate pick-me-up, I asked a dear friend and colleague to help me «get coffee». He wisely brought me to Jack’s. From the moment you arrive, Jack’s is the kind of place you imagine wanting to go to for coffee. It smells delicious and has that warm, welcoming aesthetic and atmosphere you would expect from a neighborhood spot. They sell a variety of pastries, almost all of which are fantastic(I was underwhelmed by one, once; I don’t remember which). Before I discovered I liked the taste of coffee, I loved their iced matcha. Now I also love their Americano and cappuccinos! I also appreciate their tip jar showdowns; most recently, «have a spotlight follow you wherever you go» vs «theme music for all your entrances».(I chose the latter, obviously.) As I’m still new to this, I hope you’ll forgive me for not being super descriptive as to the unique qualities of their coffee. Just trust me when I say: 1) this was where my coffee snob friend took me to change my mind about coffee, and 2) Jack’s ensured his success.

I ordered a small coffee with milk. It was served promptly, was lukewarm and tasted like very watered down coffee. And more expensive than Starbucks. The staff was apologetic and nice about refunding my money.

I ordered an iced matcha this morning and was handed an iced coffee. When I gave it back and said it was coffee, I was greeted with attitude and ANOTHER iced coffee. I said again, «I ordered an paid for an iced matcha» and then got another scowl. Finally I got the most tasteless matcha I’ve had. No apology, no nothing. Last time for Jack’s for me.

This place is the bomb! One of only two places I trust to make me a good coffee in NYC close by to where I live. Their mocha’s are divine and their apple cider donuts are to die for. Highly recommend!

This isn’t the O.G. location, and I haven’t been to the first West Village location, but found this popup coffee shop pretty great in its own right, once you can forgive the fact that there are only two tables, four chairs, three bar stools, and zero bathrooms. The 10 Downing Street shop has been open for about 8 months, yet it’s oddly difficult to find by just searching for maps online. I had to ask the person who suggested our 7:30 a.m. meeting there to provide me with a link, which he magically procured. Found myself there a smidge earlier than our planned time, which was a good thing because the grapefruit I’d peeled during the subway ride there had had its revenge all down my forearms. Upon finding out that there wasn’t a bathroom, I asked to use the sink. The barista regretted that he couldn’t let me use the sink, but what he could do was wet a fresh white cotton towel for me so that I could treat it as an oshibori and basically sponge bathe myself, even asking for a rewetting and then hanging onto the thing until the end of my visit there, at which point I felt quite attached to the damn thing, but rolled it up and deposited it back at the counter. Anyway, I was pretty wowed by the pickings, and was torn between a Mountie(containing coffee, maple, and cinnamon) and Teddy Boy(basically a lightly creamed and sugared Espresso shaken with ice and poured into a double shot glass). I saved the Mountie flavors for an autumn visit and chose Teddy Boy, which was a work of art and an innovation as far as coffee beverages go. Is anyone old enough to remember when Starbucks first took the East Coast by storm, passing out mini cups of freshly generated Frappucino out on the blazing hot sidewalks? It was kind of like that, but in a personable, homey environment. Another strong point is the 6:30 a.m. opening time on weekdays and 7:00 a.m. opening time on weekends. Clearly, this establishment knows what the point of coffee is — to get up and at it in a nice spot that doesn’t make you feel that you’re at the trough(Starbucks, other chains) spewing the lube for the cogs in the wheels of the machine for the use of The Man. I guess the American Dream would be to live in one of the charming $ 5,000/month studios nearby and just roll downstairs on any day of the week. But until then, I’ll gladly B, D, F, M it over to get a fix. Will just remember to void my bladder first.

OMG. So, one of my best friends introduced me to putting maple syrup in my coffee.(Weird, right?) For the longest time ever, I thought this was some novel, genius thing(and his IQ is, like, a million so I really thought he had outdone himself here) but lo and behold, I’m walking down Sixth Avenue this week, and I see Jack’s Coffee. As someone who uses coffee more frequently than a heroin user uses heroin, I dart in without thinking twice. And what do I see on the menu?! A maple syrup latte! I cannot contain myself. I had also recently been gifted a huge pint of maple syrup from Vermont and had JUST ran out of it that week(since I religiously and unabashedly dump it into my Chock Full O’Nuts every morning). So on top of just the regular JK excitement, I may have been going through maple syrup withdrawal. I get the latte, and talk to the barista for a good five or ten minutes. His charm makes my latte all the more delicious. I camp out at an outside table with my maple syrup latte, trying to do my econ readings. But really, I spend more time texting my friend to tell him about the place. INALLCAPS. (BTW: once this place gets its own wireless, it will be upgraded to five stars.)

Cute place. Small, but I like it. They have a lot of «specialty» drinks. Stella tastes like chocolate milk with espresso. Their coffee and iced latte are quite good as well. The waitstaff is really friendly and didn’t mind that we took up most of their sitting area… and for a while as well. They have seating right outside their café, it’d be nice to come back when the weather’s nicer.

I just discovered Jack’s last week and Love the Cappuccino! The atmosphere is rustic and cozy and Love that they are all, or mostly Organic. I don’t drink that much coffee, maybe 2 or 3 cups a month, so when I do, I want to make it worth it — Jack’s takes care of that. I’m not sure how the coffee straight up tastes, but I imagine it equals the awesome espresso they have. The baked vegan donuts are pretty good(they use raw coconut oil — yay!), however, the egg and cheese sandwich needed some spark. Can’t wait to try the other treats next time.

What a treat to find Jack’s coffee and café in a sea of Starbucks. Have been waiting for this location to open up and I wasn’t disappointed. As expected, the coffee and specialty drinks are delicious, but the baked goods are heavenly! I think I had one of everything, but my favorite was the decadent double chocolate brownies which were vegan but one would never guess, and the fresh-baked donuts. Ridiculously good! My friends and I ended up sitting in the café for over an hour and it easily beats out all other coffee shop and bakeries in the city. The donuts alone make the visit worthwhile!

I’ve been watching this space for a few weeks while they prepared to open; it’s right on the way to and from one of my clients, so I can’t help noticing it. Interesting factoid: Jack – there really is a Jack – was the MUD truck’s first employee, and he developed a love for coffee that drove him to develop a stir-brewer that agitates the grounds while it brews. The«stir-brewer» is patented – suck on that, Starbucks! – and I was pleased to find they have decaf. They have excellent baked goods which are all – be still my heart – vegan, except for the croissants. «And we’re working on it,» said a woman there. Amazing apple-cider donuts, and I brought home a pumpkin muffin to have for breakfast the next day: top-notch. Alas, there’s no public restroom.(Edit: Now they have better-than-sex brownies which are also vegan!) It’s a cozy little space, so they have outdoor seating as long as the weather holds up. They also sell mugs and coffee paraphernalia.
