RJ and I stopped here for a drink after we left TMS. I ordered a ginger pear martini which tasted like soapy pears because apparently ginger tastes like soap to me. The bartender offered to make something similar with chambord. We didn’t like that either. Our bill was more than we spent for dinner at TMS for 4 drinks that weren’t great. We should have stuck with vodka.

Went in here today at 4:00– the waiter– Javier– acted as if we were inconveniencing Him. He got my order wrong and never apologized: only came over to take our plates away; didn’t even say goodbye. Food was marginal. We will never return.

Only came in for a beer and literally only had time for some fries before needing to leave. The beer selection was okay and the fries flew off the plate even to those who said they were not hungry. They had a nice spice to them and seemed to be fresh cut. We did all wonder why the big flat screen above our heads was showing a hockey game in B&W however…

Omg. Terrible. Stop. Don’t go in. Drinks overpriced and watered down. Food was barely edible. Not worth it at all. Only saving grace of this place is there service.

My group came here after a game. We needed somewhere casual and a little divey since we were all in sweats and probably smelled like a gym locker. We ordered a couple of things off the menu. Fries, chicken fingers, chips and dip, spring rolls, wings. And of course beer. Beer, fries and chicken fingers were good everything else was ok. I was actually surprised they did not serve burgers since what I really wanted was a greasy, average bar burger. Apart from that, not a bad place to come with a group. If you’re looking for atmosphere and fun, this is not for you. It was a weird crowd in there and my group was no exception.

Great location for sure… but boring bar, boring service, and boring drinks. Definitely, if you’re a sports fan, this will be your dream bar on a game day Sunday afternoon(they have large-screen TVs playing sports broadcasts all around the joint)… but, otherwise, this place doesn’t even begin to stack up to the 1,000s of «cool» bars NYC has to offer. If you’re waiting for a table at The Meatball Factory next door, then stop in and have a drink here. Otherwise, walk a few blocks to somewhere more exciting.

I used to enjoy the food and service … Was a great place to bring family and friends from out of town for a quick delicious meal with great service … Over the past year… Food has slipped in quality … Service has disappeared… The bartenders seemed friendly and swift. HOWEVER … The wait staff distant and«not so swift»… I’m afraid I have visited Jakes for the last time. Before I go back … I will check on Unilocal and see of the reviews get better.

The food is average and the service is terrible. Some what affordable for Chelsea but other than that its a complete dud.

I’ve lived across the street from this place for 3 years and just went for the first time last night. We put our name down at the meatball shop and had 45 mins to kill, so grabbed a drink here. We walk in and easily got a tall table by the bar. The bar wasn’t packed out, but at the same time wasn’t dead. There is a happy hour all night where everything is $ 5! All beer, all wine all well drinks. Great chill neighborhood bar! I am most likely moving to a different neighborhood in 6 weeks, but until then, I will go back!

Tried Jake’s for the first time last night. Excellent food, great atmosphere and wonderful service. Will definitely be my new neighborhood«go-to» place. also…never ending happy hour with 45 drinks all night! 11 Flat screens too. Sometimes the simplest places are the best places. No attitude here!

We surprisingly found a place to sit to watch the superbowl. Nice, laid back place, good food(Ruben and burger), good service

My boyfriend and I stopped into Jake’s for a quick beer break and to warm up on our way home from the paint/hardware store. I just got a water and my boyfriend got a Blue Moon. The bartender was extremely friendly and showed us the beers on tap/specials for the weekend. This place looks like your atypical pub/sports bar and I’m not sure why Unilocalers find that as a negative thing. I like places like Bathtub Gin, which is just up the block, but I also enjoy unassuming, inexpensive bars like this. The bartender mentioned that they(a) get the NFL package so you can see every team’s game on the weekend and(b) have the game sound on instead of music, which obviously is a must when it comes to watching sports. We’ll definitely stop by this place again and during football season next year, we’ll remember that they’re the only bar in a 3 block radius that has the NFL package. :)

Who knew there was such a laid back, unassuming bar in the neighborhood. Inexpensive, not packed, unpretentious, and laid back.

The bar is fine and the drinks are fine. The food is decent and the Jake’s burger and portabello mushroom burger are both filing. There are plenty of TVs so if you want to watch a game, this is a decent place to go.

This bar was just OK. We came here for a cocktail after dinner and the service was really slow. but we still enjoyed ourselves. I believe it was the people I was with, instead of the actual place. The drinks were just OK as well. This is why it gets 3 stars.

Man, there are so many of these in the city, I feel like I’ve already rated this one some where else. Ah, well, here we go. This bar served as a welcome respite NYE ’10. Trying to flag a cab on New Year’s in Chelsea or anywhere else in the city after the ball drops is impossible at 2am. A good many drinks and two hours later, still no cab. F ITTAKETHETRAINHOME. In more lucid hours, this place is a pretty clean sports bar. In my less lucid hours, this and all of these Jake’s Saloon’s are late night repositories for end-of-the-night-let’s-not-stop-drinking-blank. These bars serve their purpose. Can’t knock em too much. Can’t love em too much neither.

Jake’s is fun and has lots of TVs. If you don’t see your game, requests are easy! they have some beers, but not that many… But the salad is great if u want any!

It really IS me. See now here I am giving Jake’s 4 stars and everyone else seems to hate it! Anyhow, Jake’s, you’re awesome. Let me list the ways: *All the bartenders are super nice, especially Lorraine-love that lady! *You have a juke box. *You’re not overpriced. *You’ve got a cozy vibe. *And your food is surprisingly amazing! I mean, really good. Lady Jay and I shared one of your grilled chicken sandwiches and the meat was perfectly cooked, the aioli was tasty and perfectly spiced, and the bread lovely, warm and toasted. We split it and were both full. It was $ 12, i think. That’s a great price for this neighborhood and the quality of the execution! Keep it up. Will see you after many shifts. But you know though I think some people are confusing your with your brother on 23rd and 7th and your sister up at 10th and 57th, because you have neither a doorman in a suit nor outdoor seating. I’ve never understood why there’s another jakes two blocks away anyhow…
