I made my first appointment with Dr. Prystowsky based on a good friend’s strong recommendation. Dr. Prystowsky has been my dermatologist for several years now, and I’ve consistently been impressed with the high level of service she provides. Dr. Prystowsky is professional yet approachable, and she has a great bedside manner. I have seen Dr. Prystowsky for medical concerns as well as cosmetic issues, and she has been extremely helpful and competent in all instances. I have also been impressed with her staff, all of whom I have found to be friendly and competent. Also, I have never had to wait beyond my appointment time, which I greatly appreciate. As another commenter noted, Dr. Prystowsky does not take insurance. But this is hardly unique for NYC. Dr. Prystowsky operates a high-end practice, and I have found the charges to be reasonable in light of the high level of service.

Arrogant, with little regard for patients and apparently little time to answer their questions. Made large scars on the back of a patient to remove some small moles for biopsy.

I couldn’t agree more with TS. Really abominable. She did the same thing to me — a ridiculous medical procedure that was completely unnecessary, and even worse that I could have done myself!, and then charged me $ 600 for the appointment. She was with me for max. 5 minutes. She showed me how to scrape off a piece of dead skin, called it something fancy, and then thinks she has the right to charge $ 120 per minute! Disgraceful. She didn’t explain what she was doing, or even that it was a procedure, that it would cost any more than a regular appointment, ask if I wanted it done, or explain that it was not necessary. I tried talking to the billing staff but they were utterly unhelpful. After all, I suppose it’s not their fault, but they didn’t do anything. They wouldn’t even give me her email address to speak with her, and there’s no way to contact her directly. Somehow we need to get through to her that this is unacceptable. I would NEVEREVER go back to Prystowsky or recommend her to anyone else. She once was a pretty nice doctor who is now greedy. Only go if you’re a billionaire, but even still, I think you could spend your money on better things.

FYI: Be aware that she doesn’t take insurance. I knew this before my appointment, and so take partial responsibility— but when someone says a mole doesn’t look good, you forget about the bill. That said, she knew I was paying out of pocket(because everyone has to pay), and yet she didn’t inform me as to the cost of procedures that she performed, leaving me awestruck at the size of the bill. What made it sting though(and drive me to Unilocal about this) was that the test she performed wasn’t medically necessary, but she didn’t present it as if I had a real choice. It seemed like she performed an expensive procedure with no regard for the cost to me, or the scar that it left, but simply to increase the size of the bill. So if you go to her, make sure to ask about the cost of everything, before she does it! As an aside, I saw her being *very* mean to a young employee, which strikes me as totally inappropriate, regardless of the circumstances.
