Been in NYC for 3 months and was lucky enough to find Brad right away. I like to get my haircut every 2 weeks but have had such bad experiences with barbers that it is so worth it for me to go to someone that truly understand shape and style. Love the products, love the conversation and most of all, I love that it’s more like hanging out with a good friend and you just happen to get a great haircut.

Recent trip to New York I reunited with my guy Brad. He’s excellent. I have long hair that need shaping without shortening. He really impressed me. He’s interested in what you are really after with your hair. His post cut treatment with the Frank Leder tonic was an added touch of personality that left me missing my monthly cuts with Brad.

Brad gives the best men’s cuts in New York. He had an artful approach but it’s still very wearable. Ill follow him anywhere!

I’ve been contemplating this particular haircut on and off for years and finally decided to pull the trigger. Brad spent 2 meticulous hours sculpting a dramatic undercut with partial mohawk, adapting very carefully to some *ahem* missteps I had made on my own. I couldn’t possibly be happier and have received so many sincere, astonished compliments. I will be returning for touch ups because after the quality of this cut I wouldn’t trust someone else to do it justice.

Brad is an amazingly talented stylist. He is a true artist with VISION which is so rare and yet so necessary– which makes Brad easily the best stylist I’ve ever gone to (and I’ve had MANY). I highly him. He takes his time, listens to your ideas, and will never give you something that looks bad or isn’t manageable. I have loved every single haircut he has given me. And on top of that he is a super cool person to talk with.
Aside from Brad, the resident poodle is a cute plus. And the products the salon carries are super boutique, fancy and fabulous!

I have had my hair cut exclusively by Bradley Scott Rosen for three years now. I trust him entirely to create a unique, beautiful and sleek shape for me, no matter the length. I get constant comments and compliments on his work. You can tell he enjoys getting to know his clients and catering his stylistic expertise to their lifestyles and personalities. The salon itself is beautiful, clean and feels special. I look forward to my haircuts and hope others will enjoy Bradley’s work as much as I have.

Janet Waddell has been cutting my hair for 12 years and is a technical genius. I have thick wavy hair and it’s no simple task to cut and style. Lucky for me this lady has a serious pedigree in hair… At least 25 years and counting! She’s also very quick so you don’t spend all day in the salon.
Janet’s hair cuts look good straightened or natural plus grow out really well (always the sign of a great stylist) This fact makes the price much easier to swallow :)
She has a namesake line of products that I really enjoy (hair wash!!) Janet is a truly charming and lovely lady to chat with as well.
As a side note, I have noticed the salon does beautiful work w folks losing or thinning hair.

I have had the pleasure of knowing Brad as my hair stylist for the past 10 years. Even when I lived far away from Brad, I traveled the extra distance because he was the only one I trusted to manage my hair. I never know quite what I want to do with my hair when I see him, so I often say, «just keep it low maintenance,» and with that, he somehow knows exactly what I need. I have always been happy and left his chair feeling great! Aside from his amazing skills, he is also kind, funny, and a great listener. Sitting in a chair for an hour can be an awkward experience if you do not like your stylist, but not with Brad. He has kept me laughing and smiling through the years while he makes my hair look great. I cannot recommend him enough.

This is a great salon. Clean, simple, good energy. I just moved to town and it’s always scary finding a new stylist. I have an irregular wave to my hair, and this town has made it frizzier than ever before. A musician friend recommended Bradley Rosen and I’ve never been happier. Not only did he understand my hair’s texture and that I like to wear it both curly and straight, but he also listened when I asked to keep my long length AND did a great job shaping it to my face. I’m now thinking of taking the plunge and chopping it all off and Bradley is definitely the stylist I’ll be trusting.

Brad has been my stylist for 5 years. He always delivers and has good suggestions if unsure of what you want to do. He has great style and really knows what he’s doing. He always leaves me feeling my best after an appointment. It also doesn’t hurt that he’s a super cool guy and fun to talk to. I now live across the country, however I’ve considered flying in just for a session.

Decided to try this place in finding a place to style my hair and this was one of the worstest styling appointments I ever had. Though I can’t complain since the value of the styling I got is what I should be getting but what was up with the stylist who I know is an apprentice in training «man-​handling of my hair» briskly swooshing my hair back and forth and getting hair and water into my eyes! In addition I don’t know whats the health department rules in keeping pets at a business establishment unless its a service pet but you think that the owner would wash her hands after touching and carrying dogs then deciding to look through my hair running her hands through it! On top of that there was attitude go with it as well… I didn’t think I was being rude to anyone there (?). The hair styled was not even impressive. Needless to say I couldn’t go ahead with my plans for the day after my hair looked shitty as well as unhygienic. First time customer and last time as well.

I’ve just followed the fabulous and talented Thea Derecola here and so wanted to put in a good word for her and the studio.
Thea has been styling my hair for years now, starting at Vidal Sassoon where she saved me from a bad haircut I’d gotten with someone else. Just recently I turned another friend on to Thea to do another «save» job. My friend was thrilled too.
It’s a bit out of the way in a downstairs space on E 18^th St., but definitely worth the trip.

I followed Janet from John Barrett at Bergdorf since I met her there –it was the first time that I met someone who is so exceptional with long hair. Every friend I have recommended says the same-​she makes you feel more glamorous and natural at the same time. Janet is not only absolutely gifted in her job, but also one of the kindest people you will meet-​so down to earth and warm. I also love her team. Really-​can only recommend her highly!

I only gave them a star because i have to put one other wise they don’t even deserve a star. I went there and greeted with a stylist which and was pleasant in the beginning. However after my shampoo she was showing me all these pictures while I was trying to explain what I wanted for a Hair Cut. and everytime I kept wondering what is she doing she would go into a different subject. THIS WOMAN DOES NOT LISTEN. then she started to be defensive when I questioned what was she doing. I wanted a simple hair cut and she wanted to give me an interesting one that matched hair style. I finally got so upset that she keeps chopping my hair and stopped her half way but it was too late she ruined my hair and made it so short that I cant even go anywhere to get it fixed. HORRIBLE HORRIBLE HORRIBLE. ON TOP OF ALL SHE GOT MAD WHEN I DIDNT TIP. TIP FOR WHAT ??

A trip down the stairs on 18^th street will get you amazing color by Jennie and long-​lasting and super-​flattering cuts by Janet. Not to mention a steaming cup of tea and girl-​talk. What are you waiting for?

Everyone should get Fantastic highlights with Jennifer Morris here at Janet’s. she knew exactly what to do with my hair the first time, combo high/​lows with the perfect shades. I can go 10+ weeks between highlights because they look so natural. Jennifer is a color specialist extraordinaire. Perfect combo of Jennifer for color and Janet for cut, you CANNOT go wrong.

I followed Carla Snow, hair stylist extraordinaire, to Janet Waddell and am in love with the studio. The team (and they really do seem to be a team) is so welcoming. The studio is light, airy, and spacious, despite being below ground. I can’t recommend Carla enough… I have moved away from NYC and push off getting my hair cut until I can get back to the city. Carla is EXCELLENT at listening to what you want, but also good at making suggestions. Better yet, her work always earns me compliments after an appointment.
Other customers leaving the studio looked fantastic as well. Highly recommend this studio!

Just had my hair cut there by Carla Snow. I must tell you that I am a very picky client, and I don’t let just anybody cut my hair. Carla can cut my hair anytime! Not only is she incredibly sweet, she seems to have an understanding of hair that not many hairdressers do — she’s very precise and knows how your hair will fall into place, and she cuts it with this in mind. I love my hair and I’m thinking next appointment — cut and COLOR!

I used to go to Chinatown and get my hair cut for as cheap as I possibly could and then eat for as cheap as I possibly could– then I moved to BK and got my hair cut by those guys on 7^th ave… they’re more knowledgeable about the yankees than Janet, but artistes they are not. I still do that food-​wise but after Janet did her do on me. I’m stuck in the high end hair trade because the results are such that I can’t just go back and have my hair barbered. Without fail people comment on my hair afterward. I sent a picture to my mom of me and a friend at an event this winter in which I’d just taken off my hat and my mom wrote back, ‘nice haircut.’
I am writing because I just pressured my work associate to go and we scheduled back to back appointments– and her hair is now perfect for her– I specify ‘for her,’ because Janet seems to have a knack for figuring out what to do for a particular face or situation and making somebody look as good as they possibly can be. I can’t be effusive enough, I’ve seen the results on what is now 4 different friends of mine.

Janet is absolutely one of the best hairstylists that there has ever been. She’s got phenomenal pedigree, with very senior positions at Vidal Sassoon and John Barrett, and a career that has taken her all over the world. She’s done lots of work for magazines and runway shows, and has had some pretty famous clients. No joke — every single haircut I’ve gotten from her has been great, and I’ve never heard anyone coming in or out say anything negative about the work she’s done. She’s basically perfect.
On top of that, she’s super nice, and the salon is comfortable, relaxing and totally non-​stuffy. I think her clientele is mostly women, but she’s fantastic at cutting guys’ hair, as well. She’s also got a stylist working there named Sarah, who trained at Janet’s side for years. I’ve already heard great things about her.
By no means is Janet’s work cheap, but it’s less than you’d spend for her at the salons she came from, and it’s a small price to pay for the best haircut you’re going to find anywhere in the city.
