Burgers are pretty good for the price. Burger meat and BBQ sauce could be better but for the price it’s a good spot to grab a quick bite. Will come back again!

If you find yourself at Penn Station and have some time to kill before your train, try Jimmy’s Burger Shack. I enjoyed my «Mexican» burger, which comes with cheddar, jalapeño, and guacamole. The burger was juicy and beefy, and the guacamole was pretty good(at least, as burger topping — I didn’t try it plain). I went when it was really slow(only one person waiting for an order when I walked in, though 5 more came in while I was waiting) and maybe that’s why I had a better experience than some of the other reviewers. I do recommend ordering a 5oz burger and not the 3oz — the 5oz is more of a «real burger» size. My verdict? I wouldn’t cross Manhattan just to go here. But the next time I’m waiting for a train at Penn and feeling like a burger, I’ll go back.

A must try spot. For roughly $ 10, you get a burger, fries, and a shake. I’ve tried the BBQ burger(cheddar, BBQ sauce, and onions), Turkey(with mushrooms and swiss cheese) and the Mexican(with cheddar, jalapenos, and guacamole). Everything is made to order so don’t expect to come in and out in 3 mins.

Can’t believe it was my first time here today, as I work close by and love Brother Jimmy’s restaurant! The burgers here don’t disappoint. I ordered my turkey burger mexican style(with guac, cheddar and jalepenos) and got a side of sweet potato fries. Just what I was craving. The portion of fries was HUGE and i’m very satisfied with the $ 7.50 I spent!

Ehhhh… nothing really more then just a decent lunch option. The place is really small with not much seating. It was really hot too. I think they had the heat on full blast. It made it feel really uncomfortable especially when you’re waiting a good 15 mins for food. The burgers, I mean the sliders come in 2 sizes, 3 oz. or 5 oz. They are small but they do have flavor. The fries could’ve been better. They were very greasy and soggy. The shack sauce was actually pretty good. It would’ve been perfect for the fries if they didn’t taste like my sock after running a full court. Overall, it’s fine if you have some time to kill and in the mood for something that won’t overwhelm you, but this is just another spot toward the bottom of my lunch list.

Not great and certainly not terrible like others say. I’ve never ordered delivery from here, so no comment there. The burgers are ok and i find them to be pretty tasty. Not a shake shack burger or 5 Guys, but I personally think in the same class as corner bistro or burgers and cupcakes(and less expensive than both). The fries are so-so, not the best, but tater tots are good and are a nice change from the normal burger and fries. My least favorite thing about this place is the location. Crackheads, bums and tourists from the midwest are everywhere outside this establishment and being that it is in midtown and all, personally I have to hungry and in the area to stop here.

Decent burgers at a decent price. The saving grace is the fact it’s so close to Madison Square Garden and you can grab a quick bite before any show or concert. That’s exactly what I did — a junior-sized burger(they come in two sizes) and tator tots(yes!) to satisfy my stomach before I went into MSG for a concert. The space is incredibly small and I can definitely see potentially long waiting times for food when more than 3 people order at the same time.

What a shame… First of all, let me tell you few things; I’ve done many jobs in the restaurant business, from scraping plates to managing teams. When I go to a fast food joint, I don’t have high expectations regarding hospitality and customer service. I just want decent food at a decent price and fast. BUT, when the counter person is texting while he is taking your order and the grillman is on the phone while working on your order, DON’T EXPECTANYMIRACLES!!! Today(03÷01÷11) was my 1st time at Jimmy’s Burger Shack(and at any Brother jimmy’s restaurants), I’ve decided to stop there for lunch and ordered a BBQ Burger(basically a burger with sauteed onions, and cheddar cheese) Here is the breakdown of what I’ve got : — The Steak: Overcooked, rubbery, probably reheated… — The Onions: Undercooked, twice more in volume than the steak itself(it was more like an onion burger topped with a steak…) — The Cheese: Solid. I don’t know how you can’t melt a piece of cheese properly specially when that place is using a dome to cover the burger during the cooking process… — The Bun: Not even sliced properly !!! A thick top and a thin bottom, resulting to a soggy and mushy burger. Overall: One of the WORST burger I’ve ever ate in the city. MYRECOMMENDATIONS : — To the Burger Lovers: Walk 8 blocks South and for the same price enjoy a real burger at Shake Shack, no comparison. — To the Brother Jimmy’s owners, GM, …: You should maybe spend more time at your burger shack, watching, training and evaluating those kids who are behind the counter.

The staff is awesome. For that long trip to where ever or just a quick bite. Grab the mini turkey burger with blue cheese crumbles. Sweet potato fries if you can eat all that. If not the burger will suffice. Takes a minute to prepare.

There are times when you feel like a sit down dinner, complete with table service, water refills and all the trappings of civilized society. There are other times when you just want fast access to burgers and fries with no frills or fuss. For those occasions and especially if you are in the Penn Station area, Jimmy’s Burger Shack fills the void and the stomach. On a Wednesday evening the shack was relatively empty. This translated into fast ordering and about a 10 minute wait for the finished product. The menu is straightforward, with 5 options for burger enthusiasts– bbq, buffalo, bacon, turkey or the no. 9(w/fried egg, bacon, cheese). You can have your burger small(three ounce slider-size) or upgrade to five ounces for a 1.50. The potato family offerings include sweet potato fries, french fries and tater tots. Boylan’s soda is available to drink along with shakes.(Or is it shimmies? The whole shack shimmies?) So with an order of tater tots for $ 1.50, an upgraded regular bacon burger at $ 4.50 and a bottle of water(how healthy!), this wasn’t raiding the treasury. As for the actual eats, I start with my favorite part– the tater tots. I’m not sure how well they’d travel for a delivery order but observing these little bullets of potato goodness emerge from their fry bath and onto my plate was exciting. With or without ketchup, mayo or ‘shack sauce’, I’m hot for these tots. Crispy and warm, I could have an entire meal of tater tots alone. The burger was quite good as well, with one small patty, melted cheese and a slice or two of bacon on top. The patty seemed uniform in shape and well put together– it wasn’t going to fall apart with a bite. It reminded me of the kind of burger I’d have at a bbq, not to equate the patty with store bought bubba burgers, but a similarity in shape, size and taste. I wouldn’t equate this burger with the trend of gourmet design and that’s fine. For a relatively quick and dirty(but not as dirty or quick as mainstream fast food) burger, Jimmy’s delivers. Although I’d recommend eating in the shack since the delivery time may tamper with the deliciousness of the fries/tots. The shack itself is very shack like. A few chairs by a counter, with lighting I’d expect to see in an eastern european jail. And again, no one’s going here for the décor. So stop by before or after a game, a night of drinks or a commute back home and enjoy !

Just ordered from there. Sure, it’s not health food but it’s a great value. Couple of tips though; Tip #1: Don’t order for delivery. They are very slow. Tip #2: Don’t order if you’re in a rush. They are very slow. Tater tots are an awesome deal at $ 1.50 for a big cup-full. I’d go back and just get this for lunch, but I also love the shakes, made with Breyers: D:DDDAWESOME!!!

In another neighborhood the food at Jimmy’s Burger Shack might not merit a write-up, but in the culinary dead-zone around Penn Station this place stands out from its mediocre lunch competitors. I got their standard mini-burger(larger than a slider, smaller than a Shake Shack burger — note that they offer a full-size burger as well) which comes with standard toppings and their«shack sauce.»(Gutsy, guys.) The burger was nothing to go Unilocaling about(and yet…) but it was a solid, serviceable burger. Certainly better than your average deli or fast food. They also offer a variety of specially-topped burgers, and offer turkey and veggie in addition to beef. I also got the two-piece dark fried chicken, which comes from their sit-down bbq joint next door. It was, again, very serviceable. Not the best in the city, but quite juicy, with a good crunchy batter.(The telltale potato starch sweetness of the batter suggests that they fry it in oil that much more often cooks fries, but it was not an unpleasant addition to the chicken.) There are a few seats but I took it to go. The price was very reasonable, and I will definitely go back.

I came in here not really in the mood for a burger with a small group. But when it turned out to be sliders(and a few different kinds), I was cool with it. I ended up getting 35″ different sliders and some hand cut fries. The biggest negative I have about this place is the wait. I understand that sometimes making a good burger takes time, but it did seem exceedingly long to everyone around. I had the mushroom and onion, the mexican(one with avocado) and the buffalo chicken and all were pretty good. The fries were addicting too. I probably could have eaten another slider(the curse of always being hungry), but I didn’t want to wait. Definitely worth checking out though cause what burger junky doesn’t love sliders.

I feel most compelled to review something on Unilocal when I feel that I need to clarify something about a particular establishment. In the case of Jimmy’s I need to point out that these«mini burgers» are misleading. A mini burger makes you think of a slider, in which case you feel compelled to order several, but these are slightly too large for you to want to order more than two(and at $ 3 a pop plus extra for amenities such as cheese, you really feel like you’re getting ripped off). So now your stomach and your wallet are confused and you just feel like your head is going to explode. Or that you should just go elsewhere for a burger, which you should. I tried the turkey burger bc I don’t eat read meat. In my experience the test of a good TB is when it doesn’t really taste like one and let’s just say that with every bite I was more than aware of what kind of under-seasoned meat I was consuming. This place only gets an extra star for the tater tots.

I ordered the buffalo chicken sliders(3 @$ 3 each). These were pretty decent — especially since I was about to go on a 4+ hour bus ride to DC. The service was a bit slow. I wouldn’t go out of my way to come here, but if I needed something to eat before going on Mega Bus or Bolt Bus, I would stop in if I had an extra 15 minutes.

I wanted something quick to hold me over until the loong train ride back to the burbs. I stopped back here to try the $ 2.50 Turkey Burger with a side order of fresh looking fries. Pretty pretty tasty! The TB had a nice flavor and the fries tasted like they were hand cut and fried. I’m slowing becoming a fan. (I did ask the counter person to toast the bun, he said sure but didn’t do it)

I’m not sure when this food craze started. Call them Mini-Burgers, Sliders, Lil’ Burgers, whatever. White Castle in the Midwest and Krystal’s in the South had been serving them for years. In the last couple of years, they’ve popped up on every bar menu in New York City. Now, they are in some finer dining establishments. Burger King has apparently added them to their menu… Ironic since it all began at fast food. Jimmy’s Burger Shack(connected to Jimmy’s BBQ) is a small place(blink and you miss it) that specialize in selling Mini-Burgers to the lunch time crowd. When asked, I’ve said that this place is only okay. Yet, I keep going back time and time again. I just finished a couple of mini-burgers and in my post lunch reflection I must concede: Jimmy’s Burger Shack is pretty dang delicious. Certainly better than any of the chain fare that is ubiquitous in the area and right up there with Bruce Burger. They seem to have created a solid recipe for a satisfyingly tasty mini-burger. Small patty, quality bun, tomato, pickle, lettuce, cheese and other toppings for an extra charge(Bacon, Buffalo Sauce, Blue cheese… oh yeah) and«shake sauce»(who knows.). The finished product when hot right off the grill is a winner. They have other items on the menu — turkey and veggie burgers, chicken and such. But the winner is the mini-burger. There are a couple of negatives. Mostly, the place is overpriced. Minus one star for that, fellas. I dined three mini burgers and Sweet Potato Fries(agreed, a larger than average lunch) and it ran $ 11.50. Also, the place can get rather busy mostly due to its location, location, location next to the MegaBus and Amtrak — that’s probably half their business right there. The dining area is pretty tiny and getting the food to go is your best bet. Since the burgers are right from the grill, the wait can sometimes be disproportionate to the quality of food. A good trick so to gauge how many white tickets are hanging above the cook’s head. If its more than five, it could be a while. Overall, the delicious taste of the Mini Burger keeps calling me back for lunch on any given random week day afternoon. Well done, Jimmy.

Sweet Potato French Fries. Served up to you hot in a brown paper bag with just enough salt and crispiness to make you want to eat the whole thing. Well, not the paper bag, but you know what I mean! Pshaw! Came here after picking up my brother’s from the tattoo parlor(they both got tattoo’s) and we were on our way back home via the LIRR, well one of them was leaving us to go see his friends in LES, and we were a might peckish. So we saw this place right next to Madison Square Garden and hopped in. It’s very low-key, a bar-like eating area by the window, with the condiments in giant dispensers on the side. A small selection of burgers, but they have turkey and buffalo, which is always a treat when it’s well done. The turkey burger with Swiss and mushrooms were amazing. And cheap. So if you’re hungry, on 31st street and near MSG, opt for this place instead of, say McDonald’s? Burger King? Wendy’s? I mean, wouldn’t you rather have a real burger?
