JJ Eyelashes

I’ve been to JJ Lashes in various locations and multiple times in this Herald Square location. All the previous times were pleasant. This last visit was by far the MOST AWFUL experience.
What I HATE
(1) The moment I lied down, the so called technican had irritated my eyes with the tape, solution and the tools. She made my eyes itch, twitch from the discomfort and tear the entire time. In fact, I highly questioned if this was her first time and would not call her a technican.
(2) She made me twitched a few times bc she either pinched my eyes or was pulling my lashes out. It was so obvious that she was trying to untangled my lashes while pulling my lids. When she couldn’t untangled my lashes, she asked if I can do it. I sat up and looked at the mirror. To my horror, my eyelids were glued together with uneven chunks of eyelashes on one eye.
(3) After I untangled my glued eye lids, she still couldn’t fix my lashes. She had to ask her colleague Stephanie to rescue my eyelashes bc she simply couldn’t fix them.
I signed up for Cindy and got some Chinese lady with name Yangzen. JJ Lashes changed the technican on me. If you see her name assigned to you, RUN. I was more than polite to still pay for my service given what a torture it was. I hope I do not get any infection from this experience. Our eyes are the most sensitive organ we’ve got and I hope JJ Lashes would take good care of their customer’s experience in this type of services.

Not even worth the groupon price. The technician is totally untrained and doesn’t know what she’s doing. I’ve been getting eyelash extension for over ten years now and this experience was by far the worst. The design is horrible (doesn’t give a nice shape to the eyes. I just have eyelashes that look like spider legs) and it’s been less than a week and 80% of my lashes came off. I truly hate my lashes right now. Spend your money on other places where they properly train the technicians.

Great service, no wait time (but you have to make an appointment). The atmosphere is calm and relaxing, and they’re super quick.

I have tried many other eyelash salons and this is the BEST, I only had one not too great experience and I found out at the end of the session that she was a student. I now request not to have a student. Otherwise Its worth my commute from White Plains, they are professional, and have great customer service, it motivates me to return

Do you know how weird it looks to have gaps in your eyelashes? I’ll gladly show you mine. I am literally missing chunks of my natural lashes. With each fake eyelash that fell off, 2 – 5 of my natural lashes fell with it. This should not happen! Anyone who has had eyelash extensions in the past can confirm. The extensions I’ve gotten in the past (@ Extend Eyelash), when an extension fell off maybe 1 natural lash would fall with it. That is normal. The technicians here are not trained properly for eyelash extensions. You should not be gluing an extension to a chunk. My technician was nice but overall a very messy job! By the time I walked 10 minutes to my office, a few of my eyelashes were already twisted in different directions.
Learn from my experience and pass on that cheap Groupon deal. Come here at your own risk.

I can only give 2 stars which sucks because I had high hopes for this place and was really excited to get extensions.
Cons: After waiting 25 minutes up to be seen w/​o apology or a heads up I was introduced to my technician, who was very sweet but didn’t do a good job. I asked for a natural J curl with lashes ranging from 10 – 12. It literally looks like she used one size from inner to outer corner and on top of that the lashes were not distributed evenly. My lashes look super fake, clumped together in places and are going in all kinds of directions. Also the lashes they use are not the best quality (think drug store quality).
Pros: It has been exactly a week and I’ve only lost a few so I’ll give them that the application does last a while. Also the application process was very easy and relaxing. I fell asleep within minutes and didn’t experience any discomfort.
Needless to say I won’t be going back. Will look for another place to fix my lashes.

I had been a regular customer for over a year, but after my last experience with Sue, I will not be returning to JJ. I first tried JJ on Groupon and became a repeat customer because it was one block from my work and service was courteous and consistent despite the number of revolving technicians who come and go. After reading the other reviews, it now makes sense that the Herald Sq location is a training facility.
My last appointment was a 3-​week refill with yet another fresh face named Sue. Normally, the technicians would confirm the lash type and length before service, and then ask if you would like a blanket. She didn’t do either, nor bothered to smile or introduce herself. I later found out her name on the tip envelope.
Right after she prepped my eyes, she pointed out that I still had mascara on my lashes. I let her know that there was no more cotton pads left in the bathroom, so I wasn’t able to remove my mascara thoroughly. I kindly asked if she could help me clean it off. She tells me she will find out, and walks away. She comes back after 5 minutes without saying anything and continues on my lashes. I felt her tugging on my them and I asked her what was going on. She said she’s removing all my existing extensions because I ruined them by putting on mascara! At that point I had to stop her. I told her I only came in for a 3-​week refill, and intend to only do so. It was clear to me that she was trying to pull a fast one and charge me for a removal and brand new set of lashes without even confirming with me! I then had to ask the receptionist to come in (while I was lying there in the cold and vulnerable state) just to make sure that I will only be paying for a 3-​week refill.
After the she completed the service, she hands me a mirror, and then starts scolding me about wearing mascara over the extensions! I was so shocked by her behavior I just said okay and walked out of there. I’m normally a 20%+ tipper, but this time I reluctantly gave 18% and felt I should’ve left nothing… This experience was by far the worst customer service I received by any standards. One extra star for all the girls who did do good work in the past. But needless to say, I will not be returning to JJ again.

4 days later and half of the extensions are gone. Even with groupon the experience came out to around $ 85 since I had the Diamond Lash set after tipping and after tax. So not okay.

The Chinese technician who did my lashes was caring, but not very skilled. I told her my eyelid are sensitive, don’t put the lashes too close to my eyelid, which i suppose she should do for everyone. She said sure but then when I was finished, every lash was poking my eyelids. It is really uncomfortable when I blink or sleep. I don’t know if I’ll feel better in a few days, hopefully yes when my natural lashes grow or fall off, otherwise this is literally driving me crazy. And for those of you who don’t know, fake lashes are so cheap in material cost, but they probably used the very cheapest of them. I’ve had really good lashed applied on, soft and light. But these are much harder.
At the end, I redeemed my voucher, but they still asked me to pay for the tax. I have never experience that with groupon deals before.
I won’t recommend this place.

I usually get my lashes done at Mink Lash Bar but I tried this place because of groupon…
Receptionist is nice The space is very modern. I asked my lash tech for a mix of ¹²⁄₁₃ C curl which is what I usually get and that is not what i walked out with. Not that it matters because 2 days later 10 lashes fell out of my right eye. I called to complain and they will take me today to «fix» which will end up being a whole new application. I”ll update when finished.

Do not go. Be warned. I called to make an appointment for a Groupon gift. They asked me for my email address and credit card information When I refused to give my email and phone number they said they were not going to hold the appointment It’s a prepaid service Why do they need credit card information Do not go!

This is my first set of lashes after putting it off for some time. When I walked in I then realizes that it is a school as well. I was apprehensive, but I have to say the experience was good. I believe I would go here again, if I will continue with lashes.

I was so excited to get my lashes done but after I got home I realized one eye looked so much better than the other. Totally uneven job. After 10 days they are falling off, not three weeks as advertised. Staff however was very friendly just was called by JJ lashes and they want to fix my lashes for free. Awesome customer care! Thanks

I’ve purchased the groupon and have been going here ever since. I’ve tried a few of the technicians but have gone to Cristina/​Christina (sp?) twice now. She is great and so sweet and definitely my go to. Also whenever she does my eyelashes they last 3 – 4 weeks instead of less than two that I have experienced. (I think she uses a different type of glue).
I’ve also experienced lashes falling out quickly after even a day or two and they are always able to get me in quick for a touch up!
Overall this place is slightly cheaper than the other jjs and has the bare minimum, but it’s a clean space and they are very helpful. I’ve been to a few lash places around the city and this one is better than most.

I came here despite the reviews because I had already bought the groupon and wanted to use it. I was a bit skeptical because I had a really great experience at another Lash place and I don’t think any place can beat that… Despite the fact that only a few lashes were left, they still charged me $ 10 for removal. The experience was ok. Cristina was my technician. The first time she told me that she was finished, I looked in the mirror and one of my lashes was stuck and I could hardly open my eyes. Then she went to fix it and it was ok, but one eye had fuller lashes than the other and she told me that that’s just how my lashes are. Although I had expected all the lashes to fall out within the next 2 weeks like they did from G Lash, I am happy to say that after 3 weeks, the lashes are still staying put. Not as great as my last place (nothing could really beat that), but this isn’t as bad as others claimed. Yes it’s a training school, but my experience wasn’t the end of the world.

Please read this review before purchasing a groupon, as this location is their training facility. Despite the negative Unilocal reviews I wanted to use my already purchased deal so booked an appointment for Saturday afternoon. The receptionist seemed more interested in charging me first so she would have less work to do on her end later on, which is fine but as a business but please also realize that is the first impression you’re making on a client.
The reviews for Christina was best and she was my technician, but during the procedure she stabbed my eye with a very sharp tool which made me yell out loud. She apologized and although I was annoyed I let it slide– again, we’re all human and can make mistakes. During the procedure she also used a big wab of Vaseline under my eyes instead of the under eye masks like most other places. Although the overall experience wasn’t great, I was still semi-​happy with how my lashes looked.
I told myself I probably wouldn’t go back but thought If their refill prices are ok I may give them a second try. However when I called them to ask for pricing for 2 weeks and 2 days they said they would have to charge me for a 3 week refill.
I don’t think these businesses understand with the amount of saturation for lash extension places you should try and make your customer service a prerogative, not an afterthought.
Take your business elsewhere and go to the other 15+ places in ktown

I’ve had eyelash extensions once before elsewhere and I didn’t have any issues with it — so when I saw the positive reviews for JJ Eyelashes on Unilocal,I made the purchase. The receptionist was pleasant and the technician seemed knowledgeable. She explained the different lengths and styles thoroughly so I was extremely excited heading into the application room.
It has been about three weeks since then. I have hesitated posting this review until I read one from a Joanne L. from the 56^th st. location and realized that I am facing the same issues as her.
During the application process, there was tugging and picking. I had never experienced any tugging in my previous experience, but nevertheless I gave JJ Eyelashes the benefit of the doubt and thought that perhaps I just hadn’t had enough experience with eyelash extensions. Only when my technician accidentally tugged so hard that I teared and Unilocaled, she apologized. Nonetheless, I didn’t think much of it and sat through the rest.
The real issues began in the next few days. The lashes were going into my eyes and there were mornings where I would wake up tearing. It got so bad that I had to remove the eyelash from the outer corners of my eyes. The absolute worst part is that a week after the application, as my synthetic lashes begin to fall out — MY REAL LASHES ARE COMING OUT WITH THEM.
I never had an issue with this before and it’s really frustrating me.

This place is amazing– I have been to other locations of JJ eyelashes and had the best experience here. The facility only focuses on lashes and you can tell by the way your eyes end up looking. The process was much quicker than my previous appointments elsewhere, and the woman at the desk was super helpful explaining the process of how you can earn as many points as possible to make it less expensive in the future, as the lashes are not cheap. She really seemed to have my best interest and wanted to save me money.
I am totally obsessed with my lashes and plan on coming back to this location for as long as I live in NYC! Definitely recommend going here and getting them — they make all the difference!

Three stars «A-​OK» is fitting for this location.
I go to JJ Eyelashes every two weeks, but I usually go to the Midtown location. I tried the 34^th st location because they had a special price that was about 15 bucks less than the Midtown salon.
This location is obviously a school so the spa factor is not really there. The room is clean and bright, but it just doesn’t have that relaxing spa vibe.
The staff was nice, both receptionist and technician but the little things that you get at other JJ locations just aren’t here. Namely, you get a free foot massage in Midtown, there is no one to do this here.
Other reviewers said how horrible the lashes were and I was afraid. I did notice a few fell out quicker than usual but they still looked ok. I didn’t have a bad experience but I will pay the extra cash to go somewhere a little more relaxing and where I trust that the technician has experience.

Do eyelashes grow back? They better.
While the girl was working on my eyelashes, she dropped something in my eye that stung horribly. After the lashes were complete, my eyes didn’t feel right and the burning sensation persisted. They insisted it was the glue. Having gotten my lashes done in the past, this feeling was new to me.
The lashes looked nice, but something about them wasn’t settling right. Some felt like they were glued to my eyelid, and now after taking a close look at my original lashes, the longer ones are gone and overall my eyelashes are sparse whereas they were nice and full before. I am mortified and hope that my original lashes grow back.
