I wish that I could give 10 negative stars. I made an appointment to come here 3 weeks in advance to have a cyst removed from my head. I specifically asked and made sure that the consultation fee would be removed from my cost of surgery and once guaranteed that consultation costs would be removed I decided to come in.
Dr. Joerg looked at the cyst location and stated that she did not feel like doing the surgery because it was in a difficult spot for her to cut. Keep in mind the word surgery is on their business card and also advanced. I have never seen a medical doctor be lazy and cowardly before so I was taken aback. I was referred to another doctor and lost a day of my life I could have spent at work.
I was told by the doctor that Joerg referred me to he would not be taking the very expensive consultation fee out of my surgery. I called and politely begged Joerg to speak to him to have it removed.
6 hours later an assistant to Joerg left a troll message on my voicemail that they were not getting involved and that it was not an emergency. The woman’s name is Andrea and she is obnoxious and I could hear her delight trolling me in voicemail but pretending that she was doing a follow up.
Andrea then reminded me that Joerg was not charging me for WASTING A DAY OF MY LIFE. Terrible lazy doctor and obnoxious –ratchet with a smile– ghetto fabulous staff. Also they have no wifi!!!

So I’ve figured this place out. Staff is still hopeless. They refuse to tell my insurance company that my visits are routine preventative, and the insurance company won’t pay for my services and they keep trying to collect from me. And, today, I had a 2:15 appt. I called at 1:15 to see if Dr. Joerg was running late. I was told she was running right on schedule. I arrived at 2 and was told she was in the middle of a procedure and may run late, until 2:30. When 2:30 arrived and I reminded them of my appointment, i was told that the appointment would run an extra half hour late, until 3 pm, which required a 45 minute wait even though I called earlier to see if the doctor was running late. I then proceeded to raise my voice and yell at the staff. The doctor miraculously was able to see me immediately. Still haven’t figured out how to get billing to properly communicate with my insurance company, but at least I don’t have to wait 45 minutes.

I had a 3.30 appointment with Meryl Joerg MD.
Arrived on time and filled out all the relevant documents including one that stated that if I was late for an appointment I would be billed $ 25 late fee and if late or missed a surgical procedure I would be billed $ 100.00. I add to this document that if the doctor was late by more that 30 minutes would get a credit for $ 100 because my time was just as valuable as the doctors.
Finally after 45 minutes of waiting and asking what the delay was and not getting a response other than an apology with the receptionist repeating «I don’t know what the reason for the delay is» I voted with my feet and walked out. Based on what I am reading on Unilocal and other websites this lack of respect for patients appears to be common problem with this practice.
Fortunately I live in New York and have many physicians to choose from so I will not be going back to her and will find another more professional dermatologist for my needs.

Dr. Joerg seems very nice, bubbly, and compassionate, but what she appears to be belies another truth entirely. As far as her professional knowledge, she’s a so-​so dermatologist, neither good nor bad, but her professional ethics are seriously lacking and really should be investigated by a disciplinary board: She treated me multiple times for a problem that could and should have been treated in a much more effective way; but because Dr. Joerg was neither trained nor had the equipment to provide the better procedure, she had me undergo four second-​rate procedures to no success. Of course, she was well aware of the situation. It was outrageous, wholly unethical behavior, but Dr. Joerg rationalized it as par-​for-​the-​course, what any of her colleagues would have also done. Nonsense! Honorable doctors, or those with basic decency, give their patients beneficial options and information, and if that includes sending them to a doctor with a particular expertise, that’s what they do. I hope she’s happy with the money, because she certainly stooped to a low level to get it.

Dr. Joerg is nice, but that’s the only positive thing I can say about the appointment. For my December visit, the wait was almost an hour — half of which I spent shivering in a paper robe because there was no heat in the building (would have been nice to get a phone call warning offering to reschedule). The bill for my 5-​min, freezing-​cold visit? $ 200. So as nice as she is, I won’t be going back.

I saw Dr. Joerg today. What a wonderful human being and doctor. She couldn’t ask me enough times if there was anything I needed.
She also apologized for the 1 and ½ hour wait. Luckily, I was able to go across the street and take a nice walk in Central Park. I don’t know what time compressed people do. You might want to book first thing in the morning. She’s well worth it!
The front desk folks were very apologetic and helpful. I’m not sure what the deal is with the person who schedules appointments…

The doctor herself is fine – very good. That being said, I have been sitting here waiting for 45 minutes, which is fairly common here. I don’t know why they bother with appointment times, since they clearly mean nothing.

I have been seeing Dr. Joerg for several years. She is a great doctor and very personable. A couple of years ago, I developed serious acne (which was a big surprise since I was in my late 20s!) It was a very stressful situation, but Dr. Joerg was very helpful. I ultimately ended up taking Accutane, which solved the problem, and I haven’t had any acne problems since, which is a huge relief. I highly recommend Dr. Joerg.
