Perfect pepperoni placement. Great crust and the sauce is garlicky and wonderful. Excellent New York Pizza. Exactly what you want when you think pizza.

It took us hours looking at places to eat for dinner that were either close or delivered as we had been up all day walking. It was time to relax and nothing says«Relax» like Pizza. Our concierge recommended a few places that were outside of the immediate area and then mentioned two that were the best he knew of in the walking distance range. One was Joey’s Pepperoni Pizza. We finally decided that we would go there since it was within about three minutes walk from our hotel. The ratings left a lot to be desired so we went in with low expectations. To say this place it tiny is an understatement. It is maybe three to five feet wide by probably 15 feet long with a little bar type shelf along the right wall. Very tiny. It is obvious that it would not take long to make that place crowded. Fortunately there was no one else there. We had read that they closed at 11pm so we were excited to build our own pizza pie and bring it back to our room. We ordered a large pepperoni and mushroom and a side of garlic knots. Immediately we were told there was no mushrooms left and they were not making anything else that was not already displayed.(It should be noted that there were maybe 7 partial pies in the display case all looking a little worse for wear.) We were about to leave when he said he had one more in the oven that was pepperoni so about five minutes later he came out with our fresh pizza and we headed out on our way. The pizza was a bit underwhelming. The flavor was flat. There was no depth to the flavor profile at all. The pizza was good but certainly not notable nor the best pizza I have ever had. I doubt I would ever eat there again.

The price is right, the plain slice is ok, the staff is nice. It’s nothing really to write about.

The food was hot and delicious. As stated in other reviews there are no places to sit but there is a counter to stand by which worked well. There were several flavors to choose from ranging from plain cheese up to one that had broccoli on it. Super close to Bryant Park.

My visit to NYC I had to have pizza. My son a local, took me to this place for a quick bite and I found it to be very good. I had 2 slices of the sausage pizza. It was fresh and still hot. The price is right! I would definitely go back. 4 stars only because its standing room only-no seats.

A small pizza joint located near Bryant park 42nd st. I remember pizzas back then were $ 1 a slice and now it is $ 1.50 which is still cheap. If you go during lunch you the lunch deal which is one soda and two plain slices for $ 3.75. There are no seats but tables for you to stand and eat your pizza. Great place to go for a cheap meal and its delicious! No seats well there is no problem because the park is so close you can walk over to find seats.

It’s your average pizza everyone complaining about the 50 cent increase can go eat something else. Quick and easy get in and get out without a hitch

When it was $ 1.00 a slice I’d say it was worth it, but now at $ 1.50 it’s not. The pizza is decent. I’ve yet to find good pizza in Midtown.

Great little humble place to stop by and grab a slice. Lots of good slice options ready to rock, plus they have beef patties like any honest pizzeria in NYC should.

Really everything you can expect from a place selling pizza for 1.50 a slice. Not too much sitting room but the employees here are pretty friendly and service is quick.

NOLONGER $ 1 Why did they raise the price? Crazy especially considering there are numerous $ 1 slices in the area… guess i need to make the switch

Cool name, decent pizza. It’s a small place, and literally standing room only – there are no chairs. You could either eat standing up or walk a block to Bryant Park and sit there. The place is very busy during lunch. Because of this, your odds at getting a fresh slice, especially if it is a regular slice, are pretty high. And the pizza isn’t bad. Bottom line: if you are in the area and in need of a quick bite to eat, their $ 1.50 slices are a great deal!

I dont know what people expect from an establishment like this. It’s a dollar pizza place. Is it the best tasting pizza? Definitely not, but it doesn’t taste bad. Is the slice a little smaller than other places? Yes, because it costs a dollar. Is it a place you go to sit down and eat? No because that would increase overhead which would no longer make it dollar pizza. When you come here it’s to: A) Grab a cheap meal quickly to bring back to the office. B) Grab a cheap meal quickly to eat in Bryant park. C) Grab a cheap slice to satisfy your drunken urges.(Make sure your first bite is a small nibble to gauge the temperature, otherwise you’ll burn the roof of your mouth.) D) Grab a cheap slice because the lunch you had a few hours earlier was not very filling. Whatever your reason is, you should be satisfied.

I stopped by here today for a light after lunch snack. I had been on the lookout for $ 1 slices whenever we found this place and so inside I went. While it looks to be extremely small from the outside, it is actually a little bigger on the inside with a counter to stand and eat your pizza and a counter with a drink cooler behind it. Interestingly enough they also sell tacos here and have a different graphic, Joey Guacamole’s, for that. I ended up ordering 2 slices of cheese pizza. About 2 minutes later I had paid my $ 2, received my 2 slices and was out the door. As with most pizzas this one can be broken down into 3 parts: the cheese, the crust and the sauce. I don’t really have much to say about the sauce. It was there but I didn’t really notice any herbs or spice in it, but it wasn’t bad. What I did enjoy about the slices was the cheese and crust. The cheeses were oozing grease and had a nice taste to them while the crust could be folded over under the cheese and yet was still crunchy in the back. The bottom line for me is that I would stop by here again in the future. Was it my favorite $ 1 slice in NYC, not even close but you could certainly do a lot worse.

It’s a small storefront right across the street from the Marriott Residence Inn. $ 1 cheese pizzas and beef tacos, 50 cent extra for extra toppings. I’ve paid $ 3 to $ 5 for other pizza slices so for onl y$ 1 this is a helluva great deal and the pizza is damn good. Good ratio of cheese to sauce and the crust is flavorful and crispy. Avoid the lunch hour peak as the nearby construction sites empty out and the workers like cheap pizza forming long lines at the counter

I’m not sure how to rate this place because I found the pizza pretty tasty for dollar pizza but also just lacking in being a proper business. I hadn’t had dinner and my friend was a fan of this place because she used to work nearby. So after happy hour cocktails we walked in around 8pm-ish. The guy had no tacos at all period. They have an entire menu of cheap tacos so that was really weird. I finally decided on the slice of bacon pizza and a plain slice. The bacon was a little salty and ovewhelming but decent. The cheese is definitely better quality than most dive cheap hole in the wall pizza places so I will give them that. I just don’t get how you can stop making food and be getting ready to close at around 8 o’clock on a friday night. That just makes you lose business and customers. But I paid like $ 2.50 for my meal, so whatevs.

This used to be another dollar slice place that appears to have changed ownership. It’s basically the same. The slices here are slightly smaller than the 2 Bros. Pizza a couple blocks down, but they are slightly more cheesier and saucier. Overally, good quality for cheap pizza slices. They also offer cheap tacos(soft or hard tortillas) for $ 1 to $ 2(ground beef, chicken, chorizo, etc.). I have tried these as well, and they are not bad either. They’re filled with shredded cheese, sour cream, tomatoes, and lettuce. Besides the tacos, they have garlic knots and beef patties — none of which are offered at the nearby 2 Bros. This place is good value for the the low prices.

Before heading to Culture Club, which is an 80’s dance club down the street, I usually stop by here for some greasy regular slices to soak up any alcohol my body may encounter for the night. I have been here a few times, but somehow it always slipped my mind to write a review for it. It is your run of the mill dollar slice shop but with a couple things working in it’s favor: 1) It is(as prior mentioned) located right next to my favorite dance club(and really the only one I ever go to) I love 80’s music! 2) they have dollar tacos. I think they’re all meat-based, ie chorizo, carne asada, etc. I have thus never tried them, but they are there should you feel brave. I have been hard pressed to find dollar tacos since leaving California where a majority of the population is of Hispanic descent. I might enjoy a meat-cheat day here(I am a vegetarian.) 3) There are not many dollar slice places in this area 4) It’s pretty good as far as dollar slices go! They also have other flavors like combination, etc but those are a little bit more expensive of course. Pretty standard cheap prices, tough to find in this part of Manhattan. The slices are pretty greasy, so I always use the napkin-method of removing all of the grease on top of the pizza(seriously, it’s a few ounces of grease!) and they always have an adequate amount of those garlic /pepper /salt /oregano things nearby so you don’t have to wait for them or look around too much. It is a small pizzeria, no seating but a long counter that runs the length of the location. It’s not the kind of food where you sit down and have a meal anyway, you get your slice and either eat it as you’re battling midtown foot traffic or you inhale it there and leave. Good spot, I’ve been here several times and will continue to do so.

2 Bros. has been my go to place for $ 1.00 pizza. It’s a solid choice among a sea of cheap $ 1.00 pizza slices thoughout Midtown. But then came Joey’s Pepperoni Pizza with the caricature of Chef from South Park shouting nom nom nom. That alone sold me on wanting to try this place out. This small establishment with a high table stretching along one side of the wall, leaves standing room for about 7 – 9 diners. Beyond that, you’ll have to find another place to take your pizza to eat. The typical 2 slices of pizza and a can of soda is offered for $ 2.75, and which is normally $ 3.00 if ordered separately. There is also a variety of pizzas made with toppings(up to $ 2.50) that look quite delicious, a step above what 2 Bros. has to offer. Also added to the menu are the odd tacos ranging from $ 1.00 to $ 2.00. These do take some time to make, whether it is actually made to order or if they have to nuke(microwave) it in the back before serving. The pizza was served piping hot. The dough was crispy, and there was a nice proportion of cheese and tomato. Some may argue that there could be more, but let’s not forget these are $ 1.00 slices. What surprised me the most was that the cheese was slightly stringy, a definite plus! Overall, I was impressed with Joey’s pizza. It was a definite overhaul, for the better, of the terrible $ 1.00 slices that the prior owner served here. Would I come back? I wouldn’t go out of my way to come here, but if I’m in the area, I wouldn’t mind returning and possibly trying their tacos as well. Does it beat 2 Bros. Pizza? Maybe on a bad day, but 2 Bros. is still my go to place since they also have $ 2.00 leg quarters and $ 1.00 — $ 2.00 rice/vegetables at select locations.

Ok. After being an advocate of this place because I think that for $ 1 slices and $ 8 large pies they deliver a pretty decent(emphasis on DECENT) pizza product — I’ve gotta update my review because of something I think is highly unprofessional, not cool and very much deserving of 1 star since 2 means«Meh, I’ve experiences better» — since I didn’t even GET to experience pizza today through these guys… So I just tried ordering a large pizza pie($ 8) and a large Sicilian pie(a STEAL at only $ 14) via Seamless, estimated delivery time only 30 – 40 minutes and $ 27INCLUDING a $ 5.00 tip/tax(for a 2 block walk to my office mind you) — my work team and I thought this was great. Weeeeeellllllll, Seamless just called to inform me that they have tried repeatedly to reach Joey Pepperoni’s via phone, voicemails, email, etc. and nada. They tried for about 25 minutes before they called me to let me know and offered to cancel my order and issue me a refund. Why would a business allow to be represented by Seamless to order food online for delivery and then ignore the order and ignore communication from them?! With an estimated time of 40 minutes max and 25 of those minutes having been spent by Seamless(awesomely!) harassing them, there was already an issue with my order as it would have easily been very late. I’m sure I’ll be back to get $ 1 pizza in person but I will NEVER again order delivery from these guys again whether it’s through Seamless, GrubHub or even me calling it in the old fashioned way. If Seamless can’t get through to you, I probably won’t make it either(and I totally tried after I hung up with them!). There are plenty of pizza places around Midtown and St. Mark Bros definitely is tasty and on top of that, one of the pioneers in NYC’s bustling«$ 1 pizza» scene. Not cool Joey’s. I’m super disappointed :-/.
