They are so nice and the food is amazing I’m so going to come back. I took the chicken platters and my friend steak one. They were both so good…

Look, I buy from food trucks all the time for lunch so I don’t mind spending the $ if it’s worth it. I was told that they only had 2 steak sandwiches left so I ordered one. What I got was a doughy bread with a tiny piece of steak inside with cold hard cheese sitting on the top. Not to mention the tangy sauce was all over the bun and on the sides. Of course I notice this when I get back to my desk so I’m not going back out to dispute it. So I just ate the tiny piece of meat and threw the rest out. Got me this time but you won’t get me again.

I’m a foodie and food truck lover. Everything I’ve tired and ate has been heaven in my mouth thus far. You can’t go wrong with my favorites(the pulled pork sandwich, empanadas or salads(steak, chicken) and I’m making it my mission to try just about every item on their menu. If they’re ever in your area you should definitely make a point to check them out.

if we haven’t already, it’s time to say goodbye to food trucks. when they first broke out, sure, they were harbingers of a great new thing. food diversity and accessibility to things that fell beneath the retail real estate storefront radar. really interesting ethnic or just nonfranchisable inexpensive food made by individuals on various missions. from peruvian to artisinal ice creams, it was a blast. too much of one, as it turns out. with low overhead and a hot trend catering to young happenistas, and social media hype and a blanket of coolness, every money-grubbing entrepreneur jumped in, capitalizing on the scene for a quick buck, doing an excellent job of lookalikes and coopted branding overlaying crappy, lousy, bad ingredient shortcutted food. as an example, lately at the intersection of Hanover Place and Water Street there are probably around 15 trucks — on two short blocks. one of them is sometimes Jolly Fat Pig. i looked them up and it sounded promising. menu looked good, pork belly sandwiches, how can you go wrong? well there’s a sucker born every minute, and that’s a lot of minutes. everyone gets their turn to be a sucker and apparently this time it was mine. how can a pork belly sandwich go wrong? you can cook it until the rich fatty savory juicy pork belly heaven is tough, dried out grilled shoe leather. was it on the grill for an hour too long? i couldn’t tell you. it should have been thrown away but it ended up on my sandwich. was it cooked by someone who doesn’t really ‘get’ what pork belly is? maybe, like those bagel people who don’t know what cream cheese is because they’ve never eaten it, and think it’s just a kind of white-colored butter and so they spread it on as a thin little layer like they would with butter — i’m talking about people who sell something they know nothing about because they think they can take your money, and so they do it wrong. in fairness, all the accoutrements were good, the sauce, the slaw, the bun, but the meat? no way. a waste of money, a few moments of pleasure stolen, and that sinking feeling you get when you feel like you’ve been taken advantage of. never again. farewell food trucks. i’m sure there are still some good ones out there, but it’s become a needle-in-a-haystack proposition now. too many pretenders, which is a polite way of saying con artists. brick and mortar ain’t cool, but at least you know what you’re getting.

I found this food truck walking back to work on Broadway and 53. Smelled delicious and when I saw the menu I decided to give it a try. They have a variety of food but what sticks out the most are the Arepa w. cheese or meet, empanadas de pollo or cheese, roast pork sandwiches, Colombian sausage sandwiches and the platters that come with a meat selection, side and rice. They also had tostones and french fries and salads. They have a a special sauce selection that included jalapeño aioli, pink sauce(ketchup and mayo with spices) that compliment the meals. Def not american food other than the french fries. I had the empanada de pollo — amazing and the steak sandwich which was good the onions weren’t as carmelized as i would have hoped and could have used more and the steak should have been cut into strips because it was hard to chew but still very good. I would def go back and try other items.

I had the loaded fries with brisket. I’m going to be honest it didn’t look to appealing but it tasted good. The brisket wasn’t the best but it gave the fries the fat it needed. More cheese would have been 5 stars but 4 stars for now. Looking forward to the steak sandwich they have.
