Koffeecake Corner

Loved this place ever since it was ‘Little Brown’, started coming here 3 years back and left a big review on the ‘Little Brown’ Unilocal page. While going to get a coffee today I noticed that Coffeecake Corner has, unfortunately, CLOSED. Sad to see it go. Great coffee, drinks, cookies, pastries, etc. it’ll be missed.

This place is so cute for brunch or a coffee break. We had the bite sized pancakes and the pancakes were a perfect chewy texture (though the portions are pretty small). I also had the chai latte, which was unique tasting (unlike a standard Starbucks chai latte), but I find that the chai lattes are made inconsistently, since they taste different every time I come back and tend to be too sweet. I’d like to try some of the other drinks (like Nutella latte), but I’m concerned that they’ll be too sweet as well.

Nutella 25% off from July 7 – 21!!! Oh today’s October 11. Do you guys need me to pitch in for a chalkboard eraser?

They close earlier than their stated 10pm. They are often out of things in the menu, and the place is filthy. No one seems to care about the place, they should be out of business within the year.

This place is a fancy McDonald’s with terrible food. It’s expensive and the staff are rude. I will never come back. My egg white omelette was cold and my boyfriends sandwich had burned turkey bacon. Don’t go here!

Very nice breakfast stop! I randomly decided to stop in and what a nice treat. I ordered the regular coffee and it was soooo good that next time I will try some of their more «fancier» coffees. I also got an everything bagel with egg white omelet which was toasted perfectly and tasted absolutely delicious! They also had free samples of this delicious dessert item (and a generous portion too). Very nice décor and friendly staff. Free wifi to boot! I will be back…

i could go on and on about how amazing this kind of café exists in NYC. why? it’s not your typical Starbucks, Green Café, etc. menu. it’s different and the set up itself is super adorbs, organized and pretty. it’s right on the corner (duh!) and perfect for watching rich folk shop around with their beau’s and baby strollers in the UES. it’s so Gossip Girl/​Carrie Diaries/​cute-​cute-​cute, that it makes you feel all giddy being in there.
they have NUTMILKS. ya’ll know how i feel about nutmilk! they have NUTella milk and cool combos of milks and drinks; my mind is a blur. having REAL desserts, cakes, cookies, sandwiches, ice cream and chocolate-​geared items– it’s a different stride from the typical. i’m also a little weird and love the little things. such as: the sugar/​flavor/​water fountain area where you can customize your drinks with dusts of spices, milks, etc.- everything is just so considerate for a weirdo like me. i love it.
the chocolate chip cookie i bought with my café au lait was so indulgent and sexy… i winked at my barista for giving me such a giggle.

I knew this used to be Little Brown! There was something familiar about the place, aside from the identical drink menus. I asked my cashier if this café used to be called something else, and she said, «Nope, it’s always been Koffeecake Corner.» A peek at my previous review proves my cashier was a dirty little liar!
I love sitting here… up high on the bar where I can people watch (yes, that was Tyson Chandler from the Knicks casually walking by… with a crowd following behind), charge my phone on one of their many outlets, read a NY-​based publication while sippin’ on the only thing I ever order from here: a condensed milk latte.

Great cappuccino and hot chocolate with large, fluffy «restaurant made» marshmallows.
Service was slow as hell (one barista making drinks) but we enjoyed our drinks as we braved the winds and cold temps today.
They have a few locations so if you see one, check it out!

Delicious assortment of desserts, coffees and hot chocolates. They also have savory food. Communal table seating and large bar window seating. The vibe is unpretentious and relaxed. As for the hot drinks: Best hot chocolate I’ve had in my life. They have about 8 different kinds. The Nutella Cream is my favorite. The salty caramel is a close second. Great lattes too. The desserts are amazing! Try the individual apple pie a la mode with caramel drizzle! This place is around the corner from a major shopping area. A great place to stop on a cold afternoon for a sweet treat!

Seriously. Peanut butter hot chocolate. Could it *get* any better? Well it could, if they had more seats as it can get a little dicey during peak hours.
Service is pretty quick, and they have soy milk too.

If you live in the area and are not feeling like heading to one of the two Starbucks near the 86^th Street subway station, Koffeecake Corner is great option. Although I believe the coffee is not as good as Starbucks, the coffee shop offers a great environment to get work done. Sit down at the long white table in the middle of the shop or at one of the stools looking out onto Lexington.
Oh and they offer Nutella and Peanut Butter Hot Chocolate for those non-​coffee-​drinkers.

This place is great for desserts.
They have a nutella latte, and really, it doesn’t get much better if you’re in the mood for chocolatey espresso. I do like plain espresso most of the time, but if you’re looking for a treat, this is the place to be. The food desserts are delicious as well. And to be honest, this place also has sentimental value for me so that kind of boosts the rating.

A bit uptown but it’s worth the occasional bus ride to 85^th street.
It’s right across the street from a Starbucks, but I much prefer Koffeecake, for their food and pastry selection. They have bagels, savory wraps, coffee cake, and macaroons.
They also have outlets for those of us with laptops. Btw, their wifi password is lolabean.
Their gigantic windows overlooking Lexington Ave is also very nice too– perfect for catch-​up sessions with friends or to sit down with a good book. It’s not overly packed, and there aren’t many young students who come this far uptown, so the general crowd that frequents this Koffeecake location are usually young working professionals with young children who live in the area.

After being in outdoors all day for the 1^st Jazz Festival in Central Park, we were in need of some warm hot chocolate. This place used to be called Little Brown, which was what Unilocal directed me to at the time. The hot chocolate is amazing here! We got the Salted Carmel Hot Chocolate. So good!
I guess this is also a place where online daters first meet, because the couple next to us looked like they were off to a bad start on their first date. the guy didn’t even bother to tell her the name of the place changed and looked like he was in gym clothes. Nonetheless, it was good people watching/​first date eaves dropping and good place to get away from the cold for an hour.

This place is awesome. Lots of seating and great place to study. Never crowded. But this review is mostly for the best chicken, avocado, bell pepper sandwich I’ve ever had.

It was my last day in NY and I hadn’t had a bagel the whole trip. I was determined to have a new york bagel. Koffeecake Corner was a block from the hotel so bf and I both ordered wheat bagels with egg white omelet and cheese. Bf added turkey bacon to his. The bagel sammiches were huge and just the perfect breakfast after being toasted up. The service was speedy and the staff behind the counter were very welcoming. If I were a local, I’d opt to stop by KC often.

I just walked by this place the other day and dropped in for a drink. I did not realize that it was Little Brown that has re-​named itself and is now Koffeecake Corner.
Free wifi which is a plus. Packed full with teens, wifi hogs, moms with baby carriages. Seating is decent enough even though it is small and a bit cramped.
Pretty much ordered the same thing I had when it was Little Brown. Tried a small iced chocolate milk. Really small and pricey. Give me something more to drink other then a cup of ice. I have to admit it was tasty and had a real thick chocolate flavor to it, unlike other places where it seems watered down. But it is just too damned small for the price. Also tried one of the chocolate cookies. This was pretty good. Big & fat, and when opened up lots of chocolaty gooey goodness inside. Again, kind of pricey, and for a cookie and super small iced chocolate drink I forked over $ 7 with tax.
Yes, this is from the Max Brenner team, so some of the similarities made sense when I was here. His chocolate drink options are very good, there are a lot of desserts and cookies to choose from, gift packs and coffees, breakfast and some healthy options too. But to me the drink cup sizes are a bit small to justify the prices they are charging. Staff was good and at this point seem more trained and experienced than my past visit there.
Being that this is centered on a corner spot in a trendy residential high end building I am sure it will do very well up here on the UES. Just ok in my book if looking to satisfy a chocolate craving. Nice spot to use up some wifi time but avoid the crowded weekends.

Okay; it had a cheapy feel to it and everything still said «Little Brown» on it – including the cash register and the wifi. Why did they have to change it?
The cookies were good but kind of raw and overpriced. Some of the other pastries in the case had ice crystals on them.

What was Little Brown seems to have been rebranded and is now Koffeecake Corner.
I’m excited to have another great neighborhood study spot with coffee, snacks (mostly sweet, but they’re expanding the menu), and free wifi (no receipt required, no password needed). There is relatively abundant seating given the space. Get the alfajore, a salted caramel confection… I declared it one of the best things I have ever tasted. Their cookies (served warm) are delicious and sinfully decadent… not quite as rich as Levain (
), but up there.
