*****CLASSIC*****CULTURAL*****SOPHISTICATED***** The purpose of my visit was to see«AKSHARA»(meaning«immutable» from the Sanskrit) encompasses instruments from both the eastern and western traditions: flute, dulcimer, strings and percussion. A chamber music ensemble incorporating jazz-like improvisationsbased on the traditional Indian raga(modal) system, AKSHARA was a rare treat. The evening was hosted by sitarist and scholar of Indian performance traditions, Gargi Shinde. The venue was a classic elegant upper East Side venue, this beautiful house hosts on a regular basis diverse classic concerts. The concert room seats an audience of around 100, it was a beautiful live music experience. After the concert we were guided into an dinning room with complimentary champagne and buffet. The host was very friendly and welcoming. I highly recommend to visit the original old fashion venue for a special evening out for everyone.
