Laura’s Gems

I came to know Laura from a recommendation by a friend who also acquired an engagement ring from her. After dealing with several diamond dealers referred by friends, family and clients I became disillusioned by the process and the integrity of anyone in the industry as I felt as if it relied upon the lack of knowledge and understanding of buyers to the benefit of jewelers willing to markup their stones and merchandise by what seems to be criminal levels of magnitude. I ended up spending weeks researching diamonds and eventually found a good deal on a stone I wanted on Blue Nile. Now came time to find someone to create a setting for the stone and I ventured to Laura’s Gems just a few blocks from my office in Midtown Manhattan in the heart of the diamond district. At this point I was as skeptical as could be and as ready for the usual bombardment of underhanded sales tactics. I was pleasantly surprised and overwhelmed with how patient, genuine and nice Laura was, not just in comparison to the cohort of characters I met previously in the district but just in general to people I’ve ever met. She takes the time to make sure that you understand what you’re buying and she genuinely wants to give you a good deal on the product. She was patient enough to make sure that I was settled on what I wanted and that she was matching that as closely as possible. It took several trips for me to decide and even then she made sure that her gem tech set the stone perfectly to create an amazing engagement ring that my fiancée gets compliments on almost daily. I couldn’t have asked for a better experience and would recommend everyone to go see Laura. I only wish I met her before I found the stone on Blue Nile as I’m confident that she would have been as fair and open with the diamond as she was in helping me with the setting.
