Was here for the Saturday desi nights and the experience was OK enough! Location: Very well located and conveniently accessible by subway Entry: Website says free entry before 10.30 for people on guest list, doorman says nope, guys 20 $, girls go free! The club: Very spacious, with a large dedicated dance floor on the lower deck. Two well stocked but overpriced bars! And exceptionally clean restrooms looked over by attendants. DJ and music: Not the best I would say, played some weird romantic song mixes, lot many times, but definitely got the crowd grooving most of the times! Bartenders: Rude, confused and dishonest(as most of the reviews agree). Doorman tells us that we would get one complementary drink till 10.45pm, we get in at 10.20 and get to the bar at around 10.30 after the coat checks. One bartender smirks and tells us that the offer was till 10.30pm. We switch to the other bar, and this bartender tells us that we will get one complementary vodka drink till 10.45. Whoa! epic mismanagement! Another case… we get two beers, I place a 20 $ bill, keep an eye on the bartender. Clearly, she tabs in $ 7.5*2= $ 15, and returns me $ 4! Dafuq! Am amazed at this sweet foolish devil. Overall, mixed bag of experience! Summary… Give the dance floor a go, avoid the bars!

We went to the New Years Eve event and pre read the reviews taking nothing too seriously. The event itself was really fun and i had a great time but most reviewers were right about one thing for certain: the bartenders are so rude. As well as being rude the entire night, the event had open bar until 2am but when my partner went to get more drinks at 12:30, one of the female bartenders tried to charge him $ 5 per drink. I was confused so i asked the bouncer who came in with us and spoke with the bartender, who then gave us our drinks for free. They also tried to charge us for red bull.

I will never go here again. The management is f… Ng stupid and the bouncers honestly have no idea what they are doing. Party was stupid and so was the crowd. They advertise wherever saying you should be dressed and all but most of the crowd that is in the club, one can see how dressed they are. False practices and crazy staff is what you get here. This is the first place where I see the bartenders charge tip without even asking you and I don’t understand what the f. CN have you done to charge me this tip. Just a few clowns have gotten together to run this place. Stay away if you can and there are much better places in town rather than this crap.

The main issue I have are the bouncers. They are beyond rude! They push and shove people out when they’re not allowed to touch anyone unless it’s needed. They talk so much shit and belittle you! This Bollywood party people need to hire new bouncers because it is hurting their business. I had seen a bouncer tell a girl«shut the fuck up you weren’t there so mind your own business» literally putting the girl in tears. Will never be coming here again because of the bouncers attitude! HIRENEWBOUNCERS!

This place forced me to start writing reviews on Unilocal. It’s a complete rip-off. Lexicon and Pranna are the two places I am aware of that play Bollywood music in Manhattan. So, we decided to try out ‘Desi Saturdays’ at Lexicon. Music: It was good overall. Bollywood(80s/90s/new mixes), lot of random punjabi numbers as well as top 40s here and there. The songs start repeating after a couple of hours which was annoying. Drinks: Reasonable — $ 8 beer and $ 10 mixed drinks. Venue: The place seemed quite spacious but quickly filled up around midnight. Little kiddish with fog machines and disco lights. Crowd: Mature — mostly mid/upper 20s and 30s. Not too intrusive. Now if you log on to you can sign up for ‘Complementary and Reduced Admission Guestlist’ for free. We got ourselves registered and had an eventbrite ticket in place. Doors open at 10pm and to avoid the queue we reached there around 9:45pm. The line finally started moving around 10:40pm! 1. When we reached the entry point, the bouncer told us that girls enter for free and guys need to pay $ 20. What’s the point of an eventbrite ticket when you are charging the same entry fee to everyone with/without it and it’s not even 11pm! I told him that their poster clearly says reduced entry before 11pm. After some argument, he had a conversation with a guy(Manny Singh?) and said that the entry remains $ 20. Apparently their ‘policies’ change every Saturday. Meh. We ended up paying the amount and got in as we were already standing in the queue for an hour. 2. Mandatary coat check $ 3. Acceptable generally in the city. 3. After the long wait outside, I walked up to the bar and asked for water. The bartender told us that they only sell drinking water for $ 5(tiny bottle). This is ridiculous. If it’s a bollywood party, there’s gonna be lot of energy and crazy dancing. Pro tip: Whenever we stepped out for some fresh air, we would walk up to a bar few shops across, ask for water and tip the guy there. 4. They add 20% gratuity by default to your bill and still have a space for additional tip. Really? We didn’t fall for the trap but taking advantage of drunk people’s presence of mind at 3−4am. Cheap. Overall, wouldn’t go back here again for sure.

This review applies to Lexicon’s Bollywood Saturdays. I was pretty disappointed with my Saturday night at Lexicon. Saturdays are advertised as Desi Saturdays with Bollywood music, but I maybe heard two or three Bollywood songs in 3 hours of staying there. The DJ kept playing EDM songs over and over; they weren’t even remixed or mashed up with Bollywood hits, it was like they just went to Spotify and played David Guetta’s radio station. I like EDM, but it didn’t fit the theme of the night at all, and the people I went with were confused that there was more EDM and generic Punjabi songs than Bollywood music. The DJ was also clueless; when he finally played some old-school Bollywood music, the club went wild and everyone sang along and had a blast. Then he went back to just playing bass thumping and the crowd died down again. Maybe it’s just a ploy to get people to go to the bar to buy drinks. Drinks were priced normally for NYC($ 8 beer, $ 10 drinks), but overpriced for the quality of this club. The other partiers here were also quite rude; I was constantly bumped into even though it wasn’t very crowded. I wouldn’t recommend coming here.

I would give zero stars if possible. 1. Extremely rude bouncers with do-what-you-wanna-do attitude. 2. Cash only place. Even the entry fee has to be paid in cash to the bouncers before you enter. 3. Crappy music — DJ plays old retro music and Punjabi hits without much of actually DJ-ing. We forked out whatever change we had for the($ 20 per person) cover charge, entered and were told at the bar that only cash works and no option if you don’t have cash. Came out in less than 15 mins. Staff has serious attitude. This über fat bouncer wouldn’t let us in even though we were on a guy guest. Secondly, the promoter didn’t give a shit, he was busy chatting up a storm while we were waiting on his ass. I guess he didn’t need to work for his commission/tip because our group had already gotten 2 bottles. Bartender had an a nasty attitude maybe she didn’t have to work for tip either. Club automatically includes 20% tip on drinks, which is bs. Worst of all its like 4 guys to 1 guys… too uncomfortable for me. Luckily I went with friends. Won’t be going back… too much attitude from staff!!!

This review is for the desi saturdays indian party. Pros: Free entry for females and couples before 11pm Decent bollywood music. Cons: Very rude bouncers Event organizers is a vulture changing policies at the door, suddenly started charging $ 20 cover before 11 from everyone. Cancelled open bar last minute.

First impressions aren’t everything, but they do tell you an important part of the story. I came here on Saturday with 4 friends following dinner at a spot nearby. I recommended Lexicon for convenience, since my friend had already selected the restaurant for her birthday dinner. We arrived here at around 10pm and found a line of about 20 people ahead of us. One of the guys at the door came down the line announcing that it was $ 10 for girls, $ 20 for guys to get in, which was a deal breaker because we don’t go to clubs if we have to pay a cover(and there wasn’t supposed to be one before 11, from what I’d checked). So that was a negative. But my friend’s sister saved the evening by blurting out«But it’s her birthday!» pointing to her sister, and the birthday girl, who is gorgeous anyway, actually was pretty dressed up, so the guy relented and let us in without charge. There’s some redemption. Inside, it was empty(as we’d expected) and there was a pit-type area carved out in front of the DJ station with plenty of free seats and tables. Drinks were pricey, as expected($ 12 for a really tiny whiskey sour). The thing that bugged me was my drink was still half full when I got up to dance, and when I returned to the table a little while later it was gone. Boo. No more drinks for me. The dancing — it was a desi night, which I hadn’t realized when I chose the club, but which was fantastic for me because I love desi music, and the birthday girl and her sister are South Asian. I was too impatient to wait for other people to dance so I was the first to start. Within seconds a random girl was up and dancing with me, and within minutes small clusters of dancers surrounded us. So an enthusiastic dancing crowd for sure! But the DJ was really awful. His transitions between songs were terrible, and the dancing would awkwardly stop every five minutes when there was a different rhythm starting up or a song with a trance-y kind of beginning. Some of the songs themselves were great, but the delivery was a mess. After 11:30 I was checking my watch, and just after 12 I told my friends I had to go, and they jumped up to join me. It’s too bad, because this could have been a great time if the DJ knew what he were doing and if the service were a little better. I probably won’t be coming back.

I would rather not give this place any stars but since Unilocal requires it I had to. The bouncer is rude, obnoxious, has an unexplainable brutal ego. I absolutely think this place need to hire new staff !! There was a mob of people who had passports that were not«working out». Not only did this happen twice but the staff spoke them for 30 minutes disregarding the line behind these people. Furthermore they noted that we were in line before 11 but because of the mobs in front of us they increased the price from free to 10 for girls and 20 for guys. This place is cash only… SHADY Omg the inside is so childish! The inside of the place great and stylish but the party was a high school dance. Drinks are a rip off! This one guy got in the middle and started break dancing while everyone awkwardly watched. This place is sausage fest for my men looking for girls haha Enjoy and cheers!

Wow. Just wow. This is the first review I’ve ever written on Unilocal, but I feel like this place deserves it. I’m an avid nightlife enthusiast and have been to all sorts of clubs, bars and lounges that range in style from 1Oak and Boom Boom Room to dive bars like Coyote Ugly. Never, however, have I been to a club like this. 1) The bouncers. I know they’ve been spoken about many times in the reviews for this place, but they are the absolute worst. One of them absolutely REEKED of alcohol. It was raining quite heavily and we luckily had an umbrella. The bouncer refused to let us use it because it was«getting up in [his] space.» While in the club they would just ram into whoever they felt like without stopping even once to apologize for spilling a twenty dollar drink. Which leads me to point 2. 2) The drinks. I ordered a double Chivas and soda. I was told they don’t do Chivas here. the only whiskeys they have are black label and Jack Daniels. So I had a double black and soda. They gave me my drink in a plastic dixie cup. This club does not have any glasses! They gave us shots in those same dixie cups. And they weren’t cheap either. A double drink with soda cost upwards of 20 bucks. 3) We came here for a Bollywood night and the music was initially pretty good. However after about 1.30 the music died down big time with the DJ playing only songs from the 80s. We saw a lot of people go up to the DJ and ask him to play more recent stuff but he ignored them all. All in all, not somewhere I’m ever going to go to again. I’d recommend everyone to stay away from this place. Sidenote: The bathroom attendant was really nice. He made peeing the one enjoyable thing about this club.

Overpriced drinks slow bar staff, rude bouncers… but DJUSA was amazing! Came here on a Saturday night for a friend’s bday. We got in for free because we got in by 11pm. The bouncers were a bit rude, but I have experience worse. Coat check went smooth. So we get in and hit the bar. Only one bar was open and only one bartender was working. It took a while to get some drinks, all in a plastic cup with little alcohol. Gratuity included if you pay with your credit card so be aware. One huge positive they had was they had DJUSA spinning. DJUSA, simply perfect all the time. Pro — DJUSA Cons — Bar service, overpriced watery drinks,

This is the first time I making an attempt to write a review for a place, because it was that Bad. Arrogant bouncers. They treat u as if they are doing u a favor by letting u in. Bad drinks If u r here for a Bollywood, forget it. Bad crowd(just there to grind) and the music is not bollywood. Its something that doesn’t have genre. In the end, I felt I wasted a beautiful Saturday to get treated like shit by bouncers, no rescue from drunk hooligans(I don’t know what the bouncers were doing), bad drinks, bad music and wet floor(drinks were spilt all over the place)

I’ve been here twice on a Saturday for a Bollywood party and have been unimpressed both times. The only reason I would even give this place one star was because they had fairly enjoyable music until 1 am. 1. It’s supposed to be a $ 10 cover after 11. I got there at 10.30, the line wasn’t too long but the staff took their own sweet time to keep the line moving so that people end up waiting outside till 11 and pay a cover to get in. It was 18 degrees outside and we were freezing to death. 2. Extremely rude management. Our IDs had already been checked and we were even ready to pay the cover. We were a group of girls and requested both the organizers and the bouncers to let us in because we had already been out in the cold for half an hour and we were wearing dresses. The response was«That ain’t my problem». Well then — Don’t put up a dress code of «Fashion forward and Chic» for an event if you want women to turn up in sheepskin and jeans ! 3.The bouncers here walk around like everyone has to make way for them on the dance floor. I got knocked aside by one of them strutting about who’s at least 5 times my size and he didn’t even bother to apologize. If someone’s misbehaved, your job is to get them out of there, not to take out your anger on others ! 4. The dance floor is one level below the bar. Half the time cheezy men are standing at the stairs with drinks in their hand just watching girls dance as if a strip show were going on. It’s really quite disturbing. WORST place to be at for a girls night out. 5. After 1 am, everything dies down. The DJ played a bunch of techno tracks in series which is not what the event promised. 6. Drinks — Weak. You’re better off with water.

Came here Friday evening for a friend’s birthday party. Don’t like that I had to pay a $ 10 cover after 7 but nice enough venue. Apparently someone got hurt at one point so you couldn’t go to the downstairs restrooms. They also serve bottled water that looks like cologne but the hot wings are really hot & the birthday cake my friend got(a split chocolate & vanilla) was really good. Still not sure if the roses on that cake were edible or not.
