Lids

I’ve been on the hunt for very specific 47 brand hats for my boyfriend. I’ve been trying to track them down, and after calling 47 brand, they said to try lids. I had already been to two lids stores before hitting the one on Broadway.
Maybe it was because it was 7:30 on a weeknight, but I found it a little strange that for most of the time I was in the store there only one employee, and she was working the embroidery machine. There was only two other customers besides myself, and one of them was waiting on the embroidery job, but I still felt there should be more then one employee. However, she was still able to greet me when I walked in, and answer all my questions. I did feel a little bad for the guy waiting on his embroidery job, because at one point she had to help the other costumer, and had to turn off the embroidery machine to walk over (Eventually, another employee came from the back, but for the majority of my visit, she was alone).
This Lids location, like all the rest I had been to, had a great selection of all the different baseball teams (and football teams), unfortunately, for me, they were all in New Era or 59Fifty brand hats. As I had been searching for a specific hat, the girl working there looked it up for me, and was able to let me know that it wasn’t available to be ordered (damn), but saved me the trip of trying the four other stores on my list. She was also nice enough to let me know that the hats I was purchasing were Giants hats, not Mets hats — fortunately, for me, I was looking for Giants hats, and NOT Mets hats. But apparently a lot of people grab the hats thinking they are Mets hats.
Although I think the staff here needs to work out their schedules a bit, and not leave one person on the floor, I thought the staff here was nice and helpful, and I would go back.

Each Lids location has different stock available. I search many Lids locations looking for specific dog-​ears fitted hats and only find certain ones in certain locations. Lids membership cards are worth every single penny if you happen to shop here more than once a year (which I do). You get a % off new merch and % off custom work for I believe $ 10 a year membership which is a great money saver. Each Lids is different. Each location has its own flavor in terms of the attitude from the employees and the stock or how they react to you asking for a specific item that other locations might have.

I”ve had some bad experiences at a few Lids in the city. Mainly the one in Herald Square. This one is smaller and the staff there is really cool and helpful. Since the store is smaller it seems that you get that personal shopping experience.
