We stumbled upon this bar while waiting for a reservation. At first we thought it was closed because of the door block but then we realized it was open. We decided to enter because of the lively music. Luckily we happened to come on a Tuesday night! We sat behind the bar and a cute young waitress greeted us. I’m not sure which two beers my date tried but I had the red sangria. It was great! It was mild without being too sweet and had a great flavor to it. It could have been stronger, but no complaints. We enjoyed the live band but after they left the music wasn’t really our taste. We didn’t order any food, but we did say if we happen to be in the area on another Tuesday evening we might stop back again. The crowd looked rather young(early 20s) and some didn’t even look old enough to order drinks, but that’s not a problem for us. It wasn’t too crowded and never really got too loud(can’t say the same for those sitting close to the band). The atmosphere was cozy and homey and the lights were dim so it felt date appropriate. It was a fine experience. I recommend giving this place a shot!

Nice spot, nothing special, but a great place to share a quiet bottle of wine with someone. Went early on a Saturday night — plenty of seating, service was quick, and they have a big TV to show sport. Only complaint is that they were out of 2 of the 4 bottles of red wine that they had available. I’d go back.

Nice jazz on a Monday ! Just bear and wine and nothing special in terms of drinks but I recommend it if you like jazz…

Stay away. Warm draft beers and a shitty bartender who spends more time outside with her friends than doing her job. Rude to all. This place sucks! Go to the 60 neighboring bars.

We stopped in to just grab a drink before a long day of walking around lower Manhattan. We got a couple of seats at the bar and were there for some World Cup action. We aren’t huge soccer fans, but it helps when the whole bar is into it. They have a good selection of imported beers and my girlfriend really enjoyed her sangria. 1 drink each became about 3. We got sucked in. They also had wonderful looking and smelling food, but we couldn’t indulge, unfortunately. The place doesn’t look very big, but I really liked it. We talked about how much we really wanted to go back, so hopefully a review with food will be forthcoming. Until then, enjoy the drinks!

Nice place, with a touch of romance being wine and beer only, and dim lights with exposed brick. Wine is reasonable by the glass($ 8ish), and service is friendly. It’s not a hopping spot, but good if you want to have a drink and a conversation. I’d come back and recommend it for sure.

Leron’s Lesson: Interesting place to stumble into late night. The selection is limited but there is plenty of seating so come with the right company. Full Review: Walked into Luca Bar randomly and wasn’t expecting much, thankfully. The place was quiet around midnight on a Saturday. I just got one beer and finished my conversation. The staff was pretty friendly and the beer selection was surprisingly limited. I doubt that I’ll be back.

We stumbled into Luca Bar after running out of Ten Degrees because that place smelled like horrible BO. And the hostess at Bua across the street said she couldn’t accommodate our group of 5 because she had no standing or sitting space(the place wasn’t even crowded). We also tried Death & Co earlier in the evening but was asked to wait 2 hours for a table because large groups are not allowed to stand. Anyway, we lucked out at Luca. It’s small but extremely welcoming. We had no problem finding seats to accommodate what ended up to be a group of 8. There was a 2 for 1 special on the drafts and house wine, which ended up to be really good, especially the Troegs and Malbec. The place was intimate, the music was great, and we could all hear ourselves talk. We couldn’t describe the vibe/atmosphere/theme the place was going for. The décor was confused. But overall, it was a nice place to grab a few drinks and have some laughs with friends.

Goos place for drinks, and of course for Pizza! Do not expect a huge place with fancy people, just a nice place to have drinks in a good atmosphere. The woman by the bar is very nice and friendly, and the people there are very simple and give you a feeling you are in the right place. And i always order the Pizza. It is a good one!

Good(I mean it, good!) beer, friendly bartender, plenty of space, tall tables facing the street so you can people-watch or have a good conversation about everything and nothing at the same time — what else can you ask for? No blasting music, no crazy moms with little kids(this is no Brooklyn!), just a solid spot to be left alone or with your company to enjoy the evening.

Meh this is just like every other East Village bar to me. Nothing special, nothing bad really but nothing special truly. I had a weihenstephaner hefeweissen which was on draft which is my 2nd favorite wheat beer, so that was a plus and the bartender was actually a really sweet, cool girl(she had blond curly hair). Unfortunately the acoustics in this place suck and it gets packed quickly and combine that with loud music and good luck hearing anyone.ever. I hate to say this but I think I am too old for this…

Had an awesome time at this bar on a Tuesday night. They had a live band that was playing some great spanish music, but also had a guest singer who stopped in to do some Jay-z covers and Killing Me Softly– love it. The crowd was really into it, dancing and playing shakers that the band passed out– definitely felt more like a Saturday night than a Tuesday. That said, the noise level was still manageable and you could hear each other talk, which was surprising because it’s a small space. After the band was finished they put on some salsa, which I liked. A bunch of people there seemed to be regulars and were friendly with each other, exchanging pleasantries as they came in. One of these regulars is a gentleman from France who has a vineyard and the bar carries the wine he produces– he brought me and several other patrons throughout the night glasses to try. The girl behind the bar was also nice, they were out of the beer that I wanted so she let me have a taste of another one before I committed to it. Would love to come back for more live music & it seems like it would be a great date spot on other nights as well, cozy and chill.

Sunday. Happy Hour. Ahhh the good ol’ days… RIP luca bar. The sad cackling of the like omg like omg kids from ten degrees bar next door have spilled over. Please leave now. You are all assigned to 3rd avenue westward. If you leave peacefully, you can have 2nd ave on select days. Thank you. 4 stars because I hope this was a fluke…

Ten Degrees bar was full, therefore I came here. The beer taps weren’t working, so we were only allowed to have bottled beers. Not cool. I had the original sin cider which was $ 6. The only good thing was that this place wasn’t very loud, there were many small tables at the side lit by candles, which was cute. I seem to have a tendency to crash parties. And yes, there was a birthday party going on here. The birthday boy was decked out in feather boas.

First off, the waitess wouldnt serve me. Once my friend got our order in, the waitress wouldnt give us the total. After asking for it, she over charged us. Maybe she was intentionally taking our money… maybe she just cant add? The only plus was the live music :/

I agree with reviewer Aviva who said this place mostly seems like the spillover from 10 degrees. It labels itself as a wine bar but they really do not have that extensive of a wine list. It’s actually a pretty said wine list. However, this night, I was drinking campagne so I wasn’t too concerned. Perhaps you just need to ask if they have additional wine. What I did like about this place is that there is room to walk around and the seating is cozy minus the bar stools. The music was also nice and we could hear our friends which is always a plus. If you’re looking for a smaller wine bar this will work but I wouldn’t stick around for too many rounds. CASHONLY.

This place is only for spillover for people that cant fit in 10 degrees. Unfortunately, the wine quality is horrible, so if you’re stuck here after expecting to get some delicious wines from the more crowded neighbor, you will be disappointed. Came here and was thrown a drink menu. I ordered $ 10 glass of wine and it was so bad. I am sure the bottle it came from cost $ 4 at any local liquor store. I ordered a different type of wine for my second glass and it was equally as bad. I didnt even drink it because I would rather pay to not have to drink it than to pay to drink it. They are also CASHONLY and theres no sign telling you that. They also dont have an ATM. Will never be coming back.

Luca Bar is a nice place to hang out and drink Beer or Wine if you are in East Village and have exhausted all the other more popular options… It is not a bad spot but there is nothing to rave about. Service is good and fast. We got a pitcher of sangria for a great price(1L for $ 25) but the sangria is bland and I don’t see any fruit. We managed to got a table in the back for 6 people without any wait on a Saturday night so that saved us the wait, the leg work and the energy. The bad thing is there is only beer and wine. If you want liquor, you need to go somewhere else.

After starting our Unilocal Girls Night Out next door at Ten Degrees, Chada told us to head next door where there would be more space to mingle and chat. We took over the little alcove in the back, which consisted of an L-shaped cushioned bench with tables and chairs. It was definitely more cosy. Even though I just stuck to a glass of water(do not judge), I must say any bar that servers Lambic Framboise($ 11) is my sort of place. Overall, not a bad bar. They handled us rowdy girls with ease I thought!
