Drinks weren’t very strong but the service was great, and the restaurant was so cute and intimate. I would come back for the happy hour.

If there’s one thing that I can remember about this spot then it has to be ME knocking out by 12pm on a Saturday brunch. LOLFML Here’s the deal: Macondo East has unlimited flavored mimosa for $ 15 and you get to drink it for two hours for brunch. It’s usually $ 13 a glass alone for one. For me, I personally thought it was a little sweet so I kept knocking them down. I think by the time I got into my 7th glass, my head was literally spinning and majority of my friends and I were running on maybe 2 – 3 hours of sleep. Don’t let the sugar fool ya! Food: I only remember my order which was the steak and yuka fries. I thought it was alright. I would mainly go here just for their mimosa deal.

I have always said that it is very difficult to get good tacos east of the Mississippi. I was right. The food was made with care, but was some sort of LoDo deli version of a taco – not what I wanted! Staff was very friendly though and pleasant. I should give this place another chance!

I came here for late brunch on Saturday and had a wonderful time! We order tapas which were absolutely delish, good sizes and amazing dipping sauces… my favorite: the caramiñolas and the mushroom croquettes mmmm. The bottomless mimosa is probably the best deal for unlimited drinks in the area, c’mon, $ 15 bucks is one and a half mimosa somewhere else. Our server, Diana and the manager Alejandro were always checking on us and making sure we were happy and with our glasses filled up! Definitely one of my favorite spots in the LES.

2 friends and I came for the bottomless mimosa brunch. For an extra $ 15 you can add bottomless mimosa with your purchase of an entrée or 3 tapas. The mimosas were good. They came in 3 flavors, orange– vanilla, elderflower, and guanabana, which was my favorite. The servers came to refill our glasses whenever it was empty so we did get our monies worth for the drinks. However the food was sub par. We got a small basket of buñuelos to share which was our favorite food item we ordered. Buñuelos are balls of deep fried cheese bread and it came with a sweet and a savory dipping sauce. I ordered el monumento which is made of mashed plantains, chorizo, sunny side egg and some pickled onions. The mashed plantains was very bland but the pickled onions were probably the best part of the dish. My friend ordered the polenta which was also bland. My other friend ordered the carne con yuca which was decent. But I don’t the food was disappointing. There are so many other brunch places in that area so I don’t think I’ll be back here anytime soon.

Brunch brunch brunch! Is a must here! Yuca fries, burgers and Patatas Bravas are all great to order here. The atmosphere is fun, especially on weekend mornings in the summer time, as the place is crowded and loud and the front of the restaurant is open air with 3 – 4 seats on the bar outside. The service is great. Only complaint is that if you come as a two guest party, you will likely be seated in the communal tables near the front and be placed close to the parties adjoining you. In my opinion, this is the better location when compared to its newer location. However, if you prefer a quieter and less busy atmosphere you may be better off trying their second location.

Highly overrated. The food is average, at best. The beef empanadas were way too oily. The yucca fries are good but not great. I opted out of the unlimited mimosa deal but the rest of my table seemed to enjoy it. Our waitress was very attentive and refilled their glasses almost immediately so they definitely got their money’s worth. All in all, the place was just OK. I doubt I’d return considering all the other great brunch and unlimited mimosas deals in the area.

Food is just ok. On a Saturday lunch, the music is just waaaay too loud. Everyone looked miserable at first(later the mimosas started to kick in I guess) due to the loud 80’s music. The service was terrible. They kept forgetting to bring ice on a very very hot day(we never received those ice waters we ordered twice). Will not be coming back, I like to be able to listen to my friends when having lunch. Re:to the food. The ribs were super dry and over cooked. The kale flatbread was not flat at all, was too oily.

Not too crazy about this place. They’re known for their tapas but the only thing I liked were the empanadas and the pork belly dish. I wouldn’t recommend this spot for tapas. If oh are into tapas, I highly recommend the Stanton social. Everything was divineeeee. I have also heard that Essex and son is good but I’ve yet tried it yet. Will cross it off my list soon.

The first time I came here I got the bottomless mimosa special. Good price($ 15) but they’re REALLY sweet. The bartender was nice enough to modify mine. Food is good– I definitely recommend the huevos rancheros. Second time we came we weren’t drinking. Tiny cup of coffee is $ 3(no free refills) and the food took forever to come out.

Came here with two other friends for their bottomless brunch on a Saturday morning and it did not disappoint! I was 30min late to the reservation(gonna blame the subway for this…), so instead of the 2 hours unlimited mimosas deal, we were only able to get 1.5hrs. But trust me, 1.5 hours is plenty of time to down enough mimosas to get you tipsyyyy. To get unlimited mimosas, it is only $ 15, but you also need to order an entrée that is $ 12+, so it roughly comes out to $ 30 for bottomless mimosas and an entrée, which is still a great deal! There are three flavors of mimosas: orange-vanilla, guava-mint, and elderflower. Personally, I liked guava the best and the elderflower the least. You can try all three so feel free to switch and try each flavor. Our waitress came around very frequently to fill our glasses so we definitely got our money’s worth even though we only had 1.5 hours. I think i probably drank at least 6 – 7 mimosas when all was said and done. The food was also super delicious. I got the Chicken Chilaquiles and my friends got the Huevos Rancheros. The Chilaquiles were delicious. It was grilled chicken and a sunny side up egg served on top of tortilla chips and topped with queso fresco + salsa verde. I love anything with salsa verde so I was very satisfied. The portion was also very big and I was stuffed. Overall, I am very satisfied with my brunch experience at Macondo East and definitely recommend it to anyone looking for an affordable and delicious bottomless brunch option!

Excellent boozy brunch option! Relatively easy getting a reservation, came with a party of 4 at 11am on a Saturday and were given the VIP table. Aka this table on a pedestal right when you walk in… jokes on us though because its harder to flag down the waiter to get a refill on mimosas when you’re up front. The food itself was pretty good. I got the El Monumento… sunny side up egg, chorizo, and onions all great. but served on this bed of mashed up what could be polenta… not sure what the grey stuff was but didn’t have much flavor. The unlimited option is mimosas only. They have three flavors, the best being the guava. They will fill your drinks up if you ask, same with bringing you the guacamole you ordered. If you ask twice, then you’ll get it ;). Also…one waitress did fill up my friends cup that was halfway full with one type of mimosa with another type on top. I get it, we’re boozy, the mimosas are boozy, its basically all the same… just a little strange.

Do you ever have one of those nights out that you just don’t want to end? Luckily if you’re in the East Village, it doesn’t have to; simply roll from the clubs to brunch at Macondo East. Blasting pop music so you can barely hear anyone else? Check. Plenty of booze? Check. Fashionistas taking selfies and getting white girl wasted? Double check. The draw here is clearly their $ 15 for unlimited flavored mimosas, which, being hungover, I gladly abstained. This was probably a mistake, as literally every table around us was drinking and I probably needed the alcohol instead of 2 hours of being the only sober one in the restaurant. On the plus side, they do make good food; my manchego and mushroom omelette was very delicious(and cheesy), albeit the home fries were a little greasy. Most of our table enjoyed the polenta dish as well, which is a small portion but very heavy. Macondo East is also great for groups; they have several large tables in the back perfect for brunching and boozing with 10 of your closest friends. I would still recommend making a reservation, and they won’t seat your party until everyone is there. Overall, a good place for boozy brunch if you’re into that; otherwise I’d recommend a more hangover-friendly and low key spot in the neighborhood.

Came here tonight on a double date around 8:30pm. This venue is much smaller than the west side’s space, but it had a great atmosphere. We started out with a pitcher of the white sangria, which was pretty sweet(the waitress did warn us about this), but the alcohol content was lower than I would have liked. We ordered a 2nd round of drinks during the course of our meal, I ordered the mango and gin cocktail which was tasty, but too full of ice. Us girls who ordered the cocktails were underwhelmed with the alcohol to juice ratio for the price, but oh well, we weren’t sending them back. For food: we ordered the guac to begin(because duh), two orders of the fried fish tacos, two beef empanadas and two veggie empanadas, the chorizo and mushroom flatbread, and the calamari. The fried fish tacos were super tasty, wish I had had more! I preferred the veggie empanadas over the beef ones personally. By the time the calamari and flatbread came about, I wasn’t terribly hungry anymore, but none of the food was bad tasting! Our service could have been a little faster, but our waitress was really friendly so that made up for it! It was one of the people in the party’s birthdays so I told the waitress to bring by a special dessert, and we had the tres leches to share(we were unfortunately charged for it, but I’m going to let that slide). Overall, we paid about $ 50 per person for the meal, so with drinks it can definitely get a little pricey. We could’ve had ordered one less item as well — we had some leftovers.

Great brunch spot! Unlimited mimosas for an additional $ 15 along with the food. I had the Polenta with chorizo and it was so goodddddd! My girlfriends huevos rancheros were delicious as well. They offer so many mimosa flavors, the waiters and waitresses walk around refilling the drinks so you could get a lot of drinks in the TWO hours. The food delicious, the drinks delicious, the service was good.

Came here for a birthday party of 7 on a Friday night. The food is GREAT, which is why I give this place four stars instead of the 3 that I think it deserves if the food was mediocre. I made the reservation through Unilocal seatme a day prior and when I arrived to the restaurant, the computer system(as they said) did not receive my reservation, even though I had text, email, and Unilocal confirmation, AND I had called a few minutes after my reservation to confirm and change the party size(LOL). But this was overlooked because they said they said they could still seat us without a problem. The plates are small, so thank goodness we ordered double of almost everything. They plates are pricey seeing how small the plates are, so definitely keep that in mind when ordering. Don’t bother getting the pitchers of sangria; they’re very watered down and tasted like straight juice AND they run ~$ 32 a pitcher. We tried both the white and the red — red was better in my opinion because I think there was actual alcohol in it. Best plates not in any special order– Carne con yuca, fish tacos, paella(special of the night), brussel sprouts, and my favorite — the pulpo(octopus). We also ordered the empanada bucket and the kale salad. Both good, too. Beware– there is a cake plating fee. A whopping $ 4PER plate they serve. Is this necessary. Also: they have a great happy hour which I think is definitely worth going(for their fish tacos) and the sangria served per glass is much tastier.

Macondo is a perfect bottomless brunch. For $ 15, you and your party get to drink as many mimosas as you want for 2 hours. There are 3 different flavors to choose from — orange-vanilla, guava-mint, and an elderflower one. The best one is the guava mint! It was recommended by our server and was sweet but delicious. For food, my friend and I split guac & chips($ 9) and had omelettes($ 10 each). The guac was incredible! They put seeds on top to make it different from your regular old guacamole, and it works. Additionally, the chips were nicely salted and crunchy. The omelettes were okay. I found them to be a tad bit salty and way too buttery, but overall, with the bread and the chips and the drinks, the meal was balanced. There was a mixup with opentable, so the manager(I think he was the manager) gave us complimentary Mexican hot chocolate, and that was really really good! I highly recommend ending with that — it’s the perfect sweet end to a drunken brunch. Overall, this place is great and I am 100% coming back for this brunch!

I was excited to see the different flavors of the mimosas, so I got the $ 15 unlimited to try all of the flavors — and I did. Stay away from elderflower, it tasted like rotten garbage, but guava was good. The polenta was very rich and heavy that would fill you up quickly, beware the amount of mimosas you drink with it, all the carbs from the food and the sugar from the drinks don’t mix well.

Your bottomless mimosa brunch is really dependent on how turnt you want to get. The drinks here aren’t too strong in itself but if you have 8 of them, you’ll get pretty dang tipsy. The food tho. OMG the food is beautiful. I have this thing with polenta and it’s amazing here. I’ve also had the skirt steak which was equally as delicious. My only gripe is how slow the service is. But proceed with no shame and flail your arms wildly at any server to catch her attention. Insist on your drinks and they’ll come. Also the food comes out very slowly so just fill yourself with liquor on an empty stomach for the ultimate drunk experience. They play very loud music that makes it very difficult to hear the person across the table from you. But chances are you’ll be too drunk to care. Just nod and laugh accordingly and you’ll do great. Enjoy!

Drunch Review Came here a little over a year ago and the drinks were amazing. Came back recently and it was definitely lacking. Alcohol level is still there, but the fruit flavors weren’t as strong. The place has a lot of character like most places in LES. Decorated nicely on the outside and front seating area. The back is darker and a lot louder. I, along with half my table, got the chorizo polenta. It was delicious and quite filling given its small appearance. If you’re a guy, it might be on the average to small side though. Service was a little slow, but we did have a big crowd, so that might be why drink levels were low at times. *Make a reservation if you’re trying to do drunch

Macondo is amazing. Featuring South American flavors, there are definitely things on the menu that caught my eye such as… the arepa. I love arepas. Truth be told, the best arepa that I’ve had was out in San Francisco. Things that were tasted included: –beet gazpacho –boñuelos with butter and jam –polenta and eggs –steak and eggs –eggs benedict, smoked salmon on arepa — — – Beet Gazpacho PROS –very light, clean taste: not like beets at all. There was no tartness like normal gazpacho which is made out of tomato. –not overly filling CONS –none, except for those of you all who do not like cold soup. — — – Boñuelos with butter and jam: Boñuelos are central american and south american donuts essentially. Wiki calls them a snack, but I find them to be precious balls of fried dough that are better than donuts because they taste more savory than sweet. PROS –fantastic quantity, perfect for sharing –savory –came out hot and fried CONS –do not reheat well because they are literally spherical. We tried to pan-fry it the next morning and they burn pretty easily. Maybe if you flash-fried it again in a deep fryer, it may come out more successful. — — — Polenta with Eggs PROS –very hearty, good for post-race food. Unfortunately, it was not my dish haha. –very filling, but not too much in terms of actual meat and protein –I personally love the fact that it came in an iron skillet(IS): there is a certain kind of flavor that comes from a well-seasoned IS that can’t be found in a normal pan. CONS –very carb heavy, especially since it came with two pieces of toast as well — — – Steak and Eggs: I honestly cannot order steak and eggs for brunch. I did however, have no problem tasting my friend’s dish just so I could write about it. PROS –super hearty, especially considering that it’s served on potatoes as well. –shareable, mostly because it’s so hearty. This works well if you want to try a lot of dishes at Macondo. –Not overly seasoned CONS –too heavy: no vegetables. I don’t count potatoes as a vegetable by the way. — — - Eggs Benedict on Arepa: my favorite dish by far. PROS –generous portion of smoked salmon with the dish –arepa was well done, not falling apart. My friend was actually surprised because he did not know it was an arepa underneath –eggs were poached well, not overdone –came with a salad! CONS –NONE! … I can’t wait to come back here again and try a few other things on their menu. I wonder if I could get the arepas as a side order. That would be amazing. Steak on arepas for breakfast! I came to macondo on Halloween for dinner and drinks. We made a reservation and were seated as soon as my whole party arrived. We ordered tapas for the table and shared everything. We had guacamole, shrimp ceviche, pulpo, a mushroom flatbread, the empanada sampler, and the reina pepiada arepa. All the food was delicious! My favorites were the ceviche and octopus. For dessert, we had churros, tres leche and a rum cake. They were all great. The service was also very good. I really liked this place and would love to return and try other things off the menu.

AYCD brunch with good vibes. There was no rush to get us moving and the food and drink was great for a Sunday brunch. Started off with mimosas(3 amazing flavors that aren’t too bubbly, strong, or weak) and you can keep interchanging and chugging until your time runs out! Then came the empanada bucket. Solid of course and not sure how you would even mess up empanadas if you tried. Then the finale with many more mimosas … El Monumento! You must give it a try. A traditional Dominican dish, it had grilled chorizo, an egg all over mangu(mashed green plantains) and some onions. Amazing dish considering I haven’t had mangu before. Give it a try for one of your boozy NYC brunches. It wasn’t mindblowing, but it was a solid, solid option amongst the myriad of choices in NYC. Cheers!

Wow… after reading the other reviews on here, I’m really sad to be the bearer of bad news. Maybe it was just a full moon or bad staffing this night, but I cannot say nice things. Some friends and I wandered in after seeing the promise of cheap fish tacos on the outside menu. It was a Sunday night(approximately 8PM), so even though there were people in the restaurant, it was not by any means busy. My friends and I walked up to the hostess who was pleasant enough & she sat us right away. After about 5 minutes of waiting, I soon realized that the seat wasn’t going to work. As it’s currently decorated for fall, our entire table was an island in a barrel of hay. Due to lack of exposure in my lifetime, I now have a bit of an allergy to the stuff. Not saying I would’ve dropped dead, but if I was going to cry during our dinner, I would hope it would be tears of joy for delicious fish tacos and not an allergy attack. I offered to stick it out, but my friends agreed that I should be comfortable. So we went back to the hostess stand to see if we could find another seat in the half-empty restaurant. We waited. And waited. And waited. And it seemed like the hostess was also taking on the job of helping to bus tables, which was a bit unnecessary as there were 2 other busboys in the restaurant. When we finally got her attention, my friend politely explained that we would like to move our table due to a hay allergy. The hostess made a disgusted face & said, «REALLY?,» half heartedly pointed to an open table & said, «There.» I made sure to say, «Hey, thank you so much!» and I didn’t even get a half-nod of acknowledgement. I mean, maybe it’s because I’ve worked in customer service for 10+ years, but everybody knows that a forced shit-eating grin is better than an eyeroll or a scoff. So we sat down at our new table. We waited. And waited. And a busboy came over and kindly brought us water. And we waited some more. At this point, I couldn’t tell the difference between the waitstaff and the busboys, but they were all equally ignoring us. After about 15 minutes of waiting at our new table(not counting the 5 minutes we were waiting for the hostess to reseat us), we decided it wasn’t worth it. We instead walked over to Boilermaker & had a fantastic time. I mean, I was really excited about fish tacos, but I’m sure I’ll enjoy some more in my lifetime from somewhere that actually cares about customer service. Sorry to inconvenience you with my allergies, Macondo East. I’ll save you the trouble & I’ll take my business elsewhere.

Been here a few times for AYCD brunch and happy hour. The food is pretty good, especially the tapas(patatas bravas, empanadas, guacamole, chorizo). Latin American dishes from various countries are combined on the menu, giving you plenty of good options and variety. Plus: outdoor barstools for a nice day. The bar makes quality offshoots of classic drinks. Flavored margaritas, house special bloody mary’s, etc. If you want to get a Spanish fix, their Sangria is nice. The weak part is the AYCD part of the brunch — you pick from 3 flavored mimomsas, none of which are orange and none of which are particularly good. In three times brunching here, the service has always been a bit slow, and never getting as many drinks out of it as I’d like. The deal goes till 4pm regardless of when you start. Come early.

4.5 stars. Tapas!!! My very favorite. My issue when going to restaurants is that I want to try everything on the menu. Tapas bars, though pricey, allow me to get far closer to accomplishing this than do regular restaurants. Macondo East is a spectacular place to go with a group of friends before venturing into the caverns of the Lower East Side. Located on East Houston and Allen Street, Macondo puts you in prime position to start your night after finishing your meal. Came here on a Saturday night around 8:30. The place was about 1⁄3 of the way full — not bad. Just a note: if you come with a smaller party(I was only there with one other person), you’ll be seated at the bar or at one of the communal tables. So if you’re not a fan of dining directly adjacent to other parties, either come with a bigger group or go elsewhere. First off: drinks. The cocktails here are everything that cocktails at a tapas bar should be. Colorful, fruity, semi-exotic. A number of the drinks are made with Aguardiente and Pisco, which are South American liquors — very nice touch. I actually ordered two drinks, which I rarely do with dinner. But my sister’s was so good that I had to order hers too. My first drink: the Maracuya + Vodka: passion fruit, vodka, ginger liqueur, jalapeño. Spicy, sweet and refreshing. I’m not a vodka fan and I actually enjoyed it quite a lot. My sister’s drink — soon to be my drink — was the Mango + Gin(pictured): Mango, gin(shocker), lemongrass syrup, huacatay Peruvian mint, smokey sage salt. I’m a sucker for a gin drink with a salted rim. This. Was. Fantastic. I have to say that the service here was impeccable. Other than the fact that flagging down our waiter to get the check took quite a bit of effort, the food came out quickly, water glasses(which happen to be really really tiny) were refilled frequently, and all was well in the world. Our waiter told us that two tapas per person was the suggested order, which was already our plan. He also told us that we were encouraged to shared everything… um, that was obvious. Even if my sister had wanted something to herself, that kind of behavior ain’t gonna fly with me. I need to try absolutely everything. Mandatory. We ordered(and demolished): –The special guac made with crab meat and shrimp(A) –The brussels sprouts — drenched in chipotle aioli(B+ … too much aioli) –The salmon ceviche — salmon, avocado, ponzu sauce, cherry tomato, red onions, poblano and red peppers(A) –The chorizo flatbread — mushrooms, jalapeño– infused chorizo, caramelized onions, tetilla cheese(A/A+) The guac, brussels sprouts and salmon ceviche came out almost immediately. A gorgeous symphony of strong flavors. All taste buds engaged. Thankfully, the chorizo flatbread took a significantly longer to cook than the rest of our dishes, so it came out right around when we were finishing up with the first three. I basically only have good things to say about this place — the food wasn’t quite 5 stars for me, but it was damn close.

8 friends and I came here yesterday for bottomless brunch and it was really just a great experience. Unlike a lot of brunch places they take reservations(and like most brunch places they don’t seat you until your whole party is present). Entrees run $ 10 to $ 15, and its $ 15 more for unlimited mimosas for 2 hours. The mimosas here are flavored, and while honestly the flavors weren’t that great, it was fun to mix it up a bit. I got the polenta con chorizo($ 12) and it was soooo good. I highly recommend it. I’d probably give five stars but for the fact that the $ 9 guacamole was a pretty small portion and the accompanying chips definitely weren’t fresh.

Ive been to Macondo East twice now. The first time was a few weeks ago for a bottomless brunch. More recently, I went to a quick dinner here with friends. The brunch was a great experience. They have a deal for bottomless mimosas and we were able to try unique flavors such as grave and a flower flavor as well. The brunch food was good. We also got an order of churro which were hot out of the kitchen and a good hit. For dinner more recently, we got an order of the guacamole which was superb and each got tacos. I got the short rib tacos which were great — they had a little extra and unexpected kick from some spicy peppers. I was perfectly satisfied from the appetizer and the tacos. The service wasn’t amazing — we had to locate our waiter twice — but overall very friendly staff. I’m basing the four stars off of the bottomless brunch experience. It’s a great deal and attracts a fun crowd for the 22 – 26 year old crowd. Dinner was more mediocre and I would have given that 3 stars.

Aaaaamazing place. We had an amazing moment drinking mimosas for 3 hours, we really enjoyed the music. The server made us feel at home, she was so kind and nice.

Super! Des tapas avec des produits frais et donnant pleins de saveur du sud! Musique agréable, cocktails délicieux avec un service au top! Un des meilleurs endroits du quartier sans hésitation! A perfect spot! The food is delicious made with fresh products. Loved it. The sangria(tinta) and the music creates a nice ambiance. The service is very very good. One of the best place in the area! P.S: the mahi mahi ceviche is an absolute must Prenez le ceviche au mahi mahi c’est succulent!
