I was there on 01÷29÷16 and waited from 3:15 pm until 4:45 then the lady dentist (can’t remember her Chinese name, but speaks English fluently) called me. As I approached her, she said something in Chinese which I do not speak the language, I speak Vietnamese and English, she then said, «oh…ok. You have to wait very long.). I was patiently waiting with agonizing tooth pain. Why would she called me then told me to wait much longer if it’s not my turn to be seen? I explained that I am in pain. I continued waited until 5:35 pm and said to the receptionist that I must go feed the meter otherwise be ticketed. The receptionist then consulted with the Dentist in Chinese language, and said I must be back in 20 minutes. I said yes and as I was walking back and called the same time to confirm that Give me 5 minutes to get to the building and get into the elevator to be on the 13^th floor, the receptionist then asked the dentist in Chinese, I heard in the background, she then said sorry can’t attend me.
In conclusion, I was unfairly treated maybe because I do not speak Chinese and/​or my tooth condition was too little for the Dentist to make money. Therefore, she attended another patient after called me and explained to her I had tooth pain.
I definitely not recommend this office especially this Female Dentist, can’t remember her Chinese name. I definitely will switch Dentist.

I have waited a couple of years to actually write about my experience. I have never had an interest in writing reviews but one day I just started to think about my visit there and I just got mad.
The place is very nice and therefore it caught my interest. I went to have a small cavity fixed. It was a small one but was not in need of fixing according to my other dentist in my home country. But I decided to do it anyway.
First, the anesthesia didn’t help, and I asked for more, but it wouldn’t help. Apparently she didn’t know how to hit the nerve. Then after that she drilled it up and filled it with amalgam (which is smth you don’t want, of course). I left the building.
Since that day I always noted that the tooth was very sensitive and I decided to go to my regular dentist for an ex ray. And they couldn’t even believe what they were witnessing. The tooth was not sealed properly and it had been left with a whole for dirt to come in and a huge cavity had been formed. Which cost me a lot of money to fix, and yet today that tooth still feels very weak and sensitive.
I don’t know the name of the person that did this to me, but I would stay away from that place

Yeah I am happy to meet the Endo Doctor Liu who specializes in Root Canal. She is very kind and thorough in terms of giving you a prescreening of those injured Roots Ouch!!! However, do take her opinions very seriously because she is very practical and she won’t try to «take advantage» of your insurance nor try to do extra unnecessary work. As a result, if you have one opinion of one Endo Doctor; please schedule another one to see Dr. Liu who is Monday-​Friday at MaiLin MiMi Lai’s office.
It is a long wait though! But I think it is worth it plus this office has a lot of magazines and TV for you to watch so keep you busy!!!

I went to Dr. Lai for oral exam and teeth cleaning about half year ago.
Dr. Lai was too busy and she asked the other dentist (she look very young and I forgot her name) to do the cleaning. It was the fastest and the most painless teeth cleaning I had. It took her less than 5 mins to finish the cleaning, I can’t even feel she was cleaning and my teeth still look dirty after, It wasn’t clean at all.
Before I came to the office I already knew I have a cavity/​decay on the wisdom tooth because it was half gone and it is very obvious, the same young dentist who did my cleaning don’t even know I have a decay until I told her myself… Speechless.
Also I feel that the oral exam was very rush, they didn’t explain well enough about my teeth problem… I asked few questions and the only answer I got was «It’s ok»…
Anyway I already changed my dentist and it was soooooo much better.
I will give 2 stars because I like the interior of her office…

DO NOT GO HERE! This place is a hot mess with a nice looking office. Beyond the futuristic super white interior design everything else is a major failure. I came in specifically to see doctor Lai and when I made my appointment I said this. After waiting over hour she was suddenly too busy to see me even though I came in with an emergency. She could not answer a simple question so I had to reschedule. Dr Lai acts like you have all day and several weeks to keep coming back for appointments. The staff is friendly but ZERO CUSTOMER SERVICE. I was not shown any xrays, what insurance covers or explain exactly what needs to be done (like other dentists do). I have to go out of town a lot and it is completely inconvenient to have to go back just to clarify information. The doctor was very friendly but appears completely confused and stressed. I came in with an emergency and wanted to resolve issue that day. I have zero confidence in them. I’ve recently seen to two another «high end» dentist for cleaning and can compare what dr. lai staff said vs the other dentist was saying and it was all wrong. I’m going to search for another dentist. Also be aware that all train stations are very far from this place and you will have a long walk. When I called the woman on the phone made it seem like the F train was right around the corner/​right next door. you have to walk underneath an overpass so plan accordingly. I would not recommend anyone go see the dentist if you actually care about your teeth and you don’t want to have to go to another dentist later and find out that something wasn’t done properly.

I have to defend this clinic. They are just great — the staff (we don’t communicate well but they try), my dentist (Dr Koo) is amazing, warm and always cheerful. The place is impeccably clean. Best of all I get reminders just before my appointments. Yes sometimes I have to wait but seriously I don’t think they do this on purpose or is within their control. If you think about it, it could mean that they’re trying hard and not rush through cleaning or whatever they’re doing. Would you prefer a dentist that is focused on turnover to drive up revenue instead of really really cleaning the teeth of their patients? I for one vote — NO.

This place is incredibly modern – what some may refer to as «State of the Art» looking. It’s where technology meets medicine in a most spacious and comfortable setting. Everything is open with glass dividers whereas most other medical offices are separated by rooms. This really makes everything easier for everyone and what I call brilliant implementation.
Dr. Koo has been my dentist for the past 6 years and no one has cleaned my teeth better or shall I say has worked harder at cleaning my teeth than this very understanding and professional individual. But I’ve had the pleasure to meet Dr. Lai (guessing the lead partner/​owner) who was also very nice.
Unfortunately for me, stains grow at an incredibly rapid pace and the formation of it is rather disturbing to see, let me just say just be happy this isn’t you. With other dentists sometimes when they remove stains, it appears there’s an indentation of the original stain. Not so when Dr. Koo does her 3 step procedure on me. Much to my surprise however, I’ve never had cavities, gingivitis, anything requiring root canals, braces, removals and a lot of that I owe to dentists like Dr. Koo. And after you’re done, 2 nice Colgate toothpaste to bring home.
Overall the nurse assistants are friendly and quick and the receptionist (s) are above average for receptionist in a medical office setting. Teeth cleaning without XRay is $ 100 but worth it if it’s a Dr. Koo. I don’t know about the other dentist but I’m confident they’re not bad at all.

I’ve been coming here for the past 3 years for general cleaning and cavity fill ins and never had an issue until today. I went yesterday and had general cleaning done by Dr. Mimi lai herself and she said I had some cavities that another dentist can help me do some fillings for. So I made appointment today for 2:15 to get that done. I live in Brooklyn and commute all the way there to be seen and waited an hour (even though I had appointment) only to be told they looked at my X-​ray and said I don’t actually need any fillings at this time since I received it last year. Are you kidding me?!? You couldn’t have called me to tell me that? Very disappointed and the dentist didn’t even examine my teeth at all and just gave me a prescription for fluoride toothpaste. Yes, you guys are sweet and apologetic but doesn’t made up for time spent going there and waiting. Sad to say they have lost a customer forever. And please stop doing prior authorizations for tooth extractions I don’t even want to be done. Save the time and be more productive.

I’ve waited a year (visit was May 2014) to write this review. Had sensitivity in my lower left 2^nd molar with an existing filling (wisdom tooth was already out). Had x-​rays done, was told I had to get a root canal and 2 crowns (side & top), and that the cavity was close to reaching the nerve. Additionally, was told I had 4 other cavities.
Have visited two different dentists since then — the first one removed the existing filling and had it re-​filled, and said the rest of the teeth were fine. I’ve had no problems nor pain in the 1 year since then.
A different dentist I went to just last week also gave me a clean bill of health.

5* for Dr Chen! Seriously the best dentist I’ve ever had. Very careful cleaning and check up. Addressed all my questions patiently and explained my options in detail. I never thought I could fall in love with my dentist until now.
WARNING: Avoid Thomas Tagliani at all cost. Rudest and most incapable dentist in the city. Couldn’t even handle a routine cleaning properly.

Probably the most modern and knowledgeable dentist practice I had the opportunity to try 2 times in New York in 2014. Once for a checkup and cleanup and once to get 2 wisdom teeth pulled out. It is reassuring to see that some NY dentists like these ones live in the 21^th century unlike most of the other practices I experienced in the city in my 14 years here… Relaxing light and music, and panoramic view of the Manhattan bridge.

The nurses or dental assistant there are the worst ever. I was there for an emergency situation in which the wire pierced into my gum. I did call the the day before for an appointment. When I arrived, I waited there for over AN HOUR!!! It was aready way passed my appointment time, they still kept me waiting. So I went asked the nurse for what happened cuz my gum is really hurting. The nurse rolled her eyes on me, and gave me very bad attitude. She was like «you still have to wait even if your are in an emergency situation. I don’t care how hurt you are.» Then she kept skipping me. I clearly remember one of the girl arrived after me!!!
AVOID them if you can!!!

I came here twice for teeth cleaning and I love it! The office looks futuristic and clean. I feel comfortable waiting in their lounging area with well-​organized magazines. Their receptionist was not the coolest person but the dentist and dental care team make up for it. First time I had a male dentist (Dr Chen) and second time I had Dr Mimi Lai herself. Dr Mimi gave me a dental wellness kit before I leave but Dr Chen didn’t. However they both made my teeth looked sparkling clean. I enjoyed the super nice customer service, I wish I can come back sooner (or in less than 6 months)!

I have never been to a better dentist office in my life! Since I have been coming to Mimi Lai since I was a child. I remember their old location on Elizabeth but this new location has a more modern office space. The staff is friendly and professional, great since of humor and so personable. It really does depend on the dentist. I recommend find one and sticking with that person. I usually come here once every six month for a cleaning. One of the things about that I noticed is that the appointment that was schedule for you will always be delayed. So give yourself a good amount of time and bring something to do!

I have had mixed reviews; in the past five years, I had a dentist who did a great job but occasionally, I had dentist who didn’t necessary perform teeth cleaning properly.
Overall, I’d suggest booking an appointment in advance. Walk-​in is not the best choice since I ended up waiting for over an hour for a general teeth cleaning process! They shouldn’t make people wait three weeks for an appt.

STRIKE 1
First, the area is confusing. Non-​resourceful receptionist. She didn’t know how to give direction. Wait was 45m. Office was nice but so what.
STRIKE 2
I put in a lot of research for a good dentist accepting my insurance. Out of my insurance, Mailin Mimi had the best review so went out of my way to commute there.
My doctor I was scheduled to see was «Too busy» so I was sent to Dr. Tagliani completely different doctor.
STRIKE 3
I was finally seen by X-​ray technician then sent back to waiting room for another 10m. Dr. Tagliani wasn’t pleased with the first set of x-​rays already taken by technician told this not so bright assistant to take a full set all over again!
She had no idea what she was doing. The thing was hitting my teeth, the ceiling of my mouth and hurting me. Then she kept retaking and retaking again and again so total x-​ray was like 19 times. I probably went well over the safe dose of exposure to radiation for one day!
STRIKE 4
Oh did I mention, I had to hold the suction myself? The assistant was such dead weight the dentist told me to hold the tools.
STRIKE 5
After all the torture with the X-​ray, I received the fastest, roughest, half ass 2 second teeth cleaning by the rudest doctor and was told I had 8 teeth to fix. My other dentists only brought up 3 – 4. He sent me off in such a hurry irritably stating everything I need my insurance doesn’t cover. Dr. Tagliani has no bedside manners.
STRIKE 6
So that with new dentists, I won’t have to expose myself to all that radiation all over again in a short time, I wanted x-​rays forwarded to my new dentists. They were not doing that either. 2 days pass. 3 days pass and nothing. I called back and requested it the 4^th time. They said 10 minutes. Never happened. After fighting they finally sent. In a format that didn’t open at the dentist office. So more back and forth and FINALLY.
Don’t let the fancy office fool you. The service I received were mediocre and I don’t trust them one bit. They come off as just money hungry and non-​caring in my opinion.

I went to the office recently to see Dr. Tagliani. The office were very friendly, Dr. T. helped me out with a cleaning, 3 cavitiy fillings, and even did a dental implant to a tooth that got damaged while playing baseball many years ago. I need to mention that everyone there was nice and accomodating and made me feel at home and in good hands. Dr. Thomas Tagliani is now the only dentist I feel comfortable going back to. I would never open my mouth for another dentist again.

I remember way back in the day when Dr. Lai’s office was in a small and humble office in Elizabeth center, and those where the good old days when she paid attention to my concerns.
Nowadays in her fancy, beautiful, 5 star star office space, her priorities may be a little different. As I am not paying out of pocket, I felt some urgency to attend to those patients paying out of pocket. I waited almost an hour (and I was the first appointment!) for my teeth cleaning appointment. Dr. Lai cleaned my teeth in less than 10 minutes and sloppily applied the polishing. I looked like a mess getting out of the chair.
Bottom line: If you are paying with insurance, except quick and sloppy service for an hour wait.

The service (semi-​annual cleaning, follow the routine like a clock work) is gentle, thorough, and carefully completed with a gentle brush (straberry flavored toothpaste).
Goodie bag to bid farewell for the next visit in 6 months.
You will be dazzled away by the lower Manhattan sky view while seated on the chair.
Your teeth will thank you for having first rated dentist taking care of them.
Dr. Lai is sensitive to my needs as a patient, and exhibited excellent chair side manners (she even asked about my trip to Iceland!)
A true gem in Manhattan!

Great dentists, first of all if you get lost, their office is in the HSBC building on the corner.
Their office is beautiful and extremely clean.
Their customer service is friendly.
The dentist I had, Dr. Maureen Khoo, was extremely attentive and did a great job.
Over all A+ and you know they are good because this is coming from someone who hates to go to the dentist.
