Manhattan Bridge Orthodontics

I can’t believe that more than a year and a half has passed already but I just finished my Invisalign treatment with MBO a few days ago. Honestly, I highly recommend this place to anyone who wants to have straight teeth at an affordable price (when compared to other orthodontic practices in NYC). Dr. Zhu is a top 1% provider of Invisalign and definitely knows her stuff. They have great hours of availability (long weekend hours), and warm and friendly staff.
Here’s my story (if you want to read it — it’s long but you might like it):
Growing up, I didn’t have straight teeth. I didn’t get braces because my family couldn’t afford it. I didn’t go and see any dentist for most of my life because my parents thought that dentists destroy perfectly great teeth, which is obviously BS. Whenever I did get a chance to see a dentist, the dentist would comment about how I needed braces and mostly likely jaw surgery too.
Fast forward 15+ years later, after I got a stable job, I decided to get my teeth fixed and straightened out because they really bothered me. I looked up various orthodontic practices from Unilocal.MBO is one of the highly rated ones, along with some of the orthodontist practices, so I decided to go in for a consultation with MBO.
When I saw Dr. Zhu, I was amazed by how friendly everyone is there and how clean the facilities are. I unknowingly came in 3 hours early for my first appointment, but they still made time/​space to see me. Dr. Zhu identified the bite issues I had with my teeth and said that she knew for sure, I didn’t have to get any teeth pulled out. This was a real surprise for me. Not only that, Dr. Zhu said that I can do braces or Invisalign. She made me feel at home when she said that my case would be rather complicated, but she was very sure that I will have an amazing smile at the end.
I did shop around and check out some other orthodontists before I decided to go to MBO. One of the orthodontists I saw for a consultation, who is highly rated on Unilocal,said that I needed to have teeth removed. That ortho would try to avoid removing teeth but more likely than not, I would have to/​should get this one lower tooth removed. The importance of removing this one tooth and the price for treatment really turned me off. The quote for braces/​invisalign with that other ortho was $ 3,000 more than MBO’s quote!
At the end of the day, I ended up going with MBO for Invisalign treatment and haven’t regretted my decision at all. I wore my Invisalign for close to 20 – 22 hours a day and always brushed/​flossed before I put them back on. I also came in every 2.5−3 months to get aligners. I finished my treatment within 19 months, give or take. The brushing part about the Invisalign treatment sucked, but my teeth came out whiter and with no cavities/​staining according to my current general dentist. I am currently wearing retainers and they’re not bad at all.
Bottom Line: I seriously recommend anyone looking for affordable, top-​notch, high quality orthodontic work to go and check out MBO. You won’t be disappointed.

My search for «the one» is over! After horrible experiences with other orthodontists in the city, I was so happy to have found Manhattan Bridge Orthodontics. The front staff, especially the manager Kalvin Lee, was very warm, polite, and super helpful. Dr. Zhu is probably the sweetest doctor I’ve ever had. She is extremely knowledgeable and willing to take the time to explain everything and answer any questions I had about the process. She is also very efficient and I was in-​and-​out of the office very quickly. I am very pleased with how everything turned out. I had such a pleasant experience with Dr. Zhu and the rest of the staff at Manhattan Bridge Orthodontics that I referred my close friend who was looking to get Invisalign done, as she is the top 1% provider in the nation. She is also extremely pleased with her experience here and the results. I highly recommend MBO for all of your orthodontic needs!

I remember the first time I came in for a consultation Oct 2013, fast forward 2 and half years later, I am still in disbelief that my journey to straight teeth has been accomplished!!!
Being in my mid to late 30’s, I finally decided I wanted to smile with straight teeth. It was never really an issue to me honestly, rarely got regular checkups/​cleaning until my company provided dental insurance. If I didnt have a toothache, that would mean no trip to the dentist (im sure many people think that way). Once I got dental insurance, I made it priority to make sure my teeth was in good health. They were NOT in good health. I had cavities and root canals, which took time to fix. It not only took time, it costs a lot of money. After about 3 years to get everything to be healthy, I made the decision to get them straight.
I suffered from crooked, overcrowding, buck teeth for all my life. Through online research/​reviews and recommendations, I visited Manhattan Bridge Orthodontics. I was determined to get my teeth straight regardless of traditional braces or Invisalign. The staff had my teeth scanned/​x-​rayed. After that, Dr. Zhu spoke to me about my options on traditional braces and Invisilign. When Dr. Zhu said i was a candidate (i thought everyone was a candidate) for Invisalign, I was more than ecstatic, meaning the foodie that I am, i can eat when needed and not have to worry about traditional braces getting in the way. She also said it wasnt going to be a short period and that it was going to take awhile. Since I was determined, I wasnt going to let time get in my way or an excuse to not get them.
Anyways, after consulting with Dr. Zhu, I spoke to the Kalvin Lee (the General Manager), he gave me options on payments plans, very accommodating to how and when i would like to pay. Invisalign is not cheap, but the results I received, its well worth the investment.
It took a couple of weeks before I got my first visit to try on the Invisaligns. It was very simple, the staff made sure I wore it and took it off correctly and even show me tips on how to clean the invisaligners, and how you can use the Invisaligners as trays for at home teeth whitening. You take home about 5 – 6 sets (2 weeks per set) with you per visit. During your last set, you would visit Dr. Zhu again, she would make sure everything is going according to plan. There is NOT one visit where the Orthodontist does not speak to you.
MBO always scheduled my appointments according to my schedule. I have never waited more than 5mins during my scheduled appointments. When your appointment is at 1pm, you see the staff at 1pm. Whenever I needed to reschedule, they always made it priority to give me the date/​time I needed. You get an email about your appointment and then another email prior to your appointment. Never overbearing emails.
Now that my treatment is over, I dont know how its going to be not visiting MBO. I was so use to visiting once every 2 weeks or so, and setting bi-​weekly reminders to change invisligners. I will definitely stop by to say hi and give them a big smile. Without them, I wouldnt be where I am today, with teeth showing in my smiles and pictures. The hardest part now is learning how to smile with teeth showing. =)

Bottom line: Top 1% Provider (what you want with Invisalign), open on weekends (so convenient), awesome staff, amiable Dr. Zhu, reasonable cost
When I started looking into Invisalign, I went to several different offices to compare pricing, get consultations, and get a feel for how I would be treated for 1 – 2 years. When I went to MBO, I felt right at home. The office is clean, the staff is super friendly, and the consultation is thorough. They even take the consultation fee out of your Invisalign fee if you go with them. Dr. Zhu is so sweet and a pleasure to be around, as is her staff. It’s a little different setup than I expected, where there are several chairs in an open office (as seen in the photos below) but it is never that distracting because Dr. Zhu gives you your full attention when it’s your turn to be examined. As a side note, they seem really well-​suited to deal with children, as I saw many kids with parents in there, and they seem to love it.
The cost seems more reasonable than alot of other places in Manhattan, and they don’t charge any interest if you choose a payment plan (I did monthly).
As far as the Invisalign experience with MBO, it has been perfect. They seem to have the latest equipment that just looks extremely cool. There is a wand that they wave over your teeth and it captures a 3D image that they send to Invisalign. After a few weeks, I had to come back in and pick up the aligners. After that, I went to the office every 6 weeks to pick up new aligners and get a checkup. Finally after a year I was done, and I’ve been on the Vivera retainers for a little while. They took pictures and gave me a cute certificate with before and after pictures. It’s a wonderful experience to see how your smile has changed. Since I had to pay for these braces (out of pocket because I’m an adult and my dental doesn’t cover it), I will do my absolute best not to waste my money.
I can’t recommend MBO enough. If you’re considering Invisalign, I think you’d be hard pressed to find a better place to get it.

I went to Manhattan Bridge Orthodontics to get my retainer replaced. I had just moved to US from overseas couple of months ago and did not have a dentist here. Dr. Zhu and all her assistants were incredibly friendly and approachable and I have new retainers the same day! Definitely recommend MBO for their quality service!

MBO has the friendliest and most knowledgable staff of any dental office I’ve ever been to. I had the privilege of working with the staff there this past summer. Believe me when I say each one of them care greatly for every case and know how to treat them to the best of their abilities. Aside from that, the office itself was clean (thoroughly sanitized) and organized well. Prior to working there I needed retainers so I decided to get them there. They were a really good fit on my teeth and Dr. Zhu and the dental assistant who treated me were very careful and gentle. I definitely recommend this office over their fellow orthodontists in the area. They are a part of the top 1% of Invisalign providers in the area and if you get treated (with Invisalign), you’ll see why!

The qualities I want in a health care professional are gentleness, confidentiality, cleanliness, and solution oriented and driven. The Staff at Manhattan Bridge Orthodontics exceeds my expectations. I did the invisalign treatment in September of 2013, and they exceeded the completion time by four months; we completed in September of 2014. I went back to replace my retainers because I did some dental work and it affected the shape of some of my teethe, and Dr. Zhu and her staff were more than friendly to help me find an immediate solution, while they worked on replacement. Just the thought and the wonderful attention to finding the solution made my day. If you are in Manhattan or downtown Brooklyn and you are considering Orthodontics treatment, Manhattan Bridge Orthodontics is my most recommended choice. They are highly effective.

I just took off my braces after almost 3 years and my teeth look fantastic! Thanks to Dr. Zhu and her team at MBO! I had been thinking about doing Invisalign for over two years and finally decided to pull the trigger at the start of this year. After doing some research online, I decided that one filter is that I want to find an orthodontist who is confirmed on
as a ‘Top 1%’ provider. Might mean it will end up being more pricey, but hey… these are your only set of teeth people! EVER!
After doing some research on Invisalign providers in Lower Manhattan (close to home), I came across MBO. They had positive Invisalign testimonials online (and what I perceived as honest feedback) and looked like a good candidate, so I decided to set up an appointment.
When I first got there, I noticed the outside area around the office (Chinatown) is a bit dirty, but when I stepped into the office, it was super clean and organized and the young people at the front desk greet you with a warm smile and welcome (and they were wearing Invisalign trays!). Also, all the plaques, certificates, and awards on the wall made me feel pretty safe that Dr. Zhu would be able to provide me a professional opinion.
My first impression of Dr. Zhu is that she is very nice and patient. She took the time to answer questions (I had tons) and after x rays and such, she assessed that I would be a good Invisalign patient. Yes! Kalvin in the front office then walked me through the total cost (reasonable –not cheap, but reasonable– given my research online). Needless to say, I decided to move forward. I’m currently on Tray 8 (4 months in) and I can already see visible differences in my teeth. I’ve gone in for a few checkups so far and Dr. Zhu and the entire staff have been very patient with my plethora of questions along the way (I ask tons of questions each time).
Although I’m not 100% done with my Invisalign treatment just yet, I’m confident to say that I made the right choice and highly recommend MBO to anyone in the general area who’s thinking about doing Invisalign!

It’s super clean here. Even the bathroom is clean unlike some doctor offices. Everyone is so nice and polite. The front desk always greet you with a smile as soon as you walk in. I got my braces here. I was really scared at first. But Dr. Zhu explained everything and made me feel comfortable about getting braces. It’s been a year since I took it off. My teeth is nicer now thanks to Dr Zhu. She’s really nice and helpful along with the other assistants. I recommend you get your braces here. The waiting time is super fast. There’s even games like the wii to keep kids busy while they’re waiting to see Dr. Zhu.

I got braces from here after my invisalign sessions were over my teeth were not straightened to my liking. The doctor said my teeth would be completely straight after my braces were off and they were not. I kept complaining during the process that my one tooth was not moving and the doctor did nothing about it. I would suggest going somewhere else.

I finally finished my invisalign treatment today! When I was trying to decide where to get my orthodontic treatment, I decided to go to Dr. Zhu after reading some very helpful reviews here. So I’d also share my experience with MBO and hope readers would find my review helpful.
First of all, I am super satisfied with my whole experience with MBO. From the initial consultation to the end of the treatment, all staff members are all very friendly and kind. They are also very knowledgeable and professional. There was once I lost my rubber bands and I called the office. I got the rubber bands in my mail the next day! Also, it feels great that they knew my name the second time I went there. It’s amazing how quickly they can remember their patients’ names and faces.
Dr. Zhu is simply the best! She always greets me with a big smile and carefully explain the treatment plan to me. She also answers all my questions and concerns with much patience. I followed her instructions and now my teeth are all straightened. She is amazing. I should also mention that I consulted three orthodontists, and Dr. Zhu is the best among those. She only asked me to take out two wisdom teeth when the other two orthodontists asked for four (two wisdom teeth plus two healthy teeth). The price at MBO is also the lowest, and there is an interest-​free payment plan if you need more time to pay the bill.
The environment is comfortable – bright lights and super clean. Even the office seems busy all the time, I never felt the wait long is too long or the waiting area is too crowded.
I would say choosing manhattan bridge orthodontics was a really wise decision. I cannot be be happier that I got my treatment here. I wish I could show you what a great job Dr. Zhu and her teach has done to my teeth. If you are looking for a place to get your teeth straightened and consider having invisalign treatment, I would highly recommend Dr. Zhu!

Manhattan Bridge Orthodontics is amazing and Dr. Zhu is world class orthodontist! I would recommend anyone to seriously considering Invisalign seeing Dr Zhu. She is everything a person should expect when it comes to finding a doctor. Here is my honest review of Dr. Zhu and her staff. Before I started my Invisalign treatment my front two teeth was crooked and very noticeable when I speak or smile. In my line of work in real estate it is very important to have a big and confident smile.
I was hesitant of spending the money for Invisalign. I’ve done my research online and decided to choose Manhattan Bridge Orthodontics. The first day that I went to the office I was greeted with a warm and friendly staff. I was on time and was called right away. Before I went inside to begin the treatment the staff was so helpful in explaining the Invisalign treatment and answered any questions or concerns.
The machines and atmosphere was clean, good lighting and very comfortable environment which made me feel at ease. The Invisalign machine used show me a 3d view of my teeth and the timeline it will look from beginning of my treatment till the end.
Fast forward 8 months into my treatment I can tell you it was well worth the money.
My teeth are now straight which gives me confident to smile and speak up without any hesitation. I have been given compliment from my clients and colleagues at work.

I decided to come here on the recommendation of my best friend who was getting her invisalign here as well. I had wanted to get my teeth straightened for many years now, but kept on putting it off for one reason or another.
I had a bunch of consultations with other doctors before but it never felt right for some reason. Some places were too costly while others just gave me a bad vibe. However at MBO, everything just felt right for me to be here. Dr. Zhu told me that I had slight crowding on my lower teeth, which I already knew from prior ortho visits, but told me that she can treat my case without having any teeth extracted. She gave me the option for either braces or invisalign — I went with the latter. Their office manager, Calvin, worked out a really good payment plan for me and carefully explained all the treatment details upfront. After being in other ortho offices and then coming here, its obvious to me why a lot of people are happy at MBO, Dr. Zhu is really good at what she does and they all really care about their patients.

I finished my invisalign at MBO a few days ago. I received my retainers along with my before and after photos. Wow, what an amazing job they did on my teeth!
I came here every 6 weeks or so for appointments and each time it has always been smooth. I enjoyed coming here because I was always greeted with friendly smiles by Dr. Zhu and her beautiful staff. I followed their instructions closely, wore my invisalign all day and night and now after 18 months, my teeth looks great.
Dr. Zhu and everyone at MBO are truly professional and knowledgable people. My experience was very positive and coming here was the best thing I did for myself!

I had my braces 2 – 3 years ago at this place. They have a friendly staff but I must agree with some of the reviews below, the dentist consultation felt rather impersonal due to lots of moments of silence and jumping from patient to patient. I understand that the dentist is usually busy but at least have the assistants explain the patient’s condition!
Then shortly after my braces were taken off, I lost my retainers. I came back for replacement but my teeth were already moved so the shape of my retainers couldn’t help me go back to having my teeth straight! I complained about this but they didn’t express any concern at all. It made me really disappointed even til now because I literally wasted my 2 years of brace-​face life! Ugh. Not only that, the assistant that helped me with the retainers process pulled this clay-​like substance (to form the retailer’s shape) so hard outwards and in a weird way that my 4 front bottom teeth are now facing outwards due to the retailer’s shape. I went back to complain about this and they gave me another retainer that did not fix this problem at all. Who has the time to go back and forth the dentist!!! I wasnt able to make time after because I got really serious with school so this experience definitely scarred me. And knowing that it’d cost a couple of thousands for braces again, it’s just not fair to pay for something that wasn’t my mistake! !

I am so glad that I found Dr. Zhu, she is amazing and very knowledgable. I was recommended to this office by a colleague who was doing invisalign braces there. For me, first impressions count a lot and from the moment I walked into the office, I was given a warm welcome by the front desk workers. From that moment I knew this is where I wanted to get my invisalign done as well.
I met with two different dentist who told me that my case cannot be treated with Invisalign. I work in high finance and am always meeting with clients, so I cannot have a mouth full of metal braces — I need to be taken seriously by these bankers. But after meeting Dr. Zhu, so was so confident that my case can be done with Invisalign in only 12 months. So now after 1 year and several extremely pleasant office visits, my teeth is looks so good and am smiling all the time. I am very happy with the results and would highly recommend everybody to Manhattan Bridge Orthodontics

This very COMPREHENSIVE review is just based on my FIRST visit to the office for an Invisalign consult.
So I am one of those who had braces 15 years ago and was non-​compliant with my retainers and stopped wearing them after a year. Needless to say, I have noticed movement of my teeth since then.
When I first walked in, the waiting room was pretty much packed with patients and «Kung Fu Panda 2» was playing on their TV. The front desk lady (the older one sitting closest to the door) was very polite and soft-​spoken. She is the epitome of what a front desk receptionist at a medical office should be.
My appointment was scheduled for 12pm and I did not get called inside until 1pm. I was getting a little antsy when I saw patient after patient walking in after me getting called inside before I did. I was gonna give myself until 1:30 before I bounced outta there asking for my $ 50 consult fee back. Later, I found out they had to reschedule their patients due to the hurricane, so I’ll let this one slide.
I gotta say I was a little surprised when I walked in the glass door into the «treatment area.» Since I work in a physician’s office, I guess I have been used to each patient having their own room. At MBO, the patient chairs were just aligned next to each other without walls or any other barrier devices to maintain privacy. I was a little relieved when they put me in the consult room all by myself.
Before I get into what went on during the consult, let me just sidetrack a little bit and reveal that I have gone to ANOTHER orthodontist today for a consult. So this review is partially influenced at what took place at this other facility.
Now back to the review…
When I was lead into the consult room, the dental assistant, who was polite, took x-​rays and some photos of my smile and teeth. The process took about 10 minutes. When Dr. Zhu walked in, I noticed that she had a very pleasant demeanor and she looks very young to have graduated from 4 years of dental school at NYU and a masters of orthodontics at Columbia. That’s a compliment by the way and being in medicine myself, I must say I admire her for all of her accomplishments. The first thing that she said to me was that my teeth are not that bad, which I thought was pretty honest. So I knew she was not gonna pressure me into paying for stuff that I didn’t need.
Sounds like a 5 star review so far right? Well, one thing fell short… I really wish Dr. Zhu had spent more time with me to explain my problems. There was a moment of silence after she examined my teeth where she was punching things into the computer under problem list. Some of the following things I saw her check off was «fusion of teeth», «crowding», «crossbite», «clicking of left jaw.» I was like what, what, what and what?! She didn’t mention anything about it afterwards. At the end she still said it wasn’t bad at all, but being a perfectionist myself, I tend to notice every little thing that is wrong so I went there knowing what I wanted and wasn’t gonna leave until I get it. I think she knew that as well.
After 15 minutes, I was sent outside to meet with Kalvin, who is the office manager and the main financial person. I waited for a good 15 – 20 minutes in the waiting area for my «financial consultation.» Kalvin, like the rest of the staff was also very polite and professional. I was quoted with the price of $ 4900 for a treatment period of 12 months. Now, I’m no expert in Invisalign or orthodontics, but I guess I was a little flabbergasted at the price, since she said my case was not bad at all and given that I had work done in the past. I just got a slight feeling that they felt like they can charge me more since this is something that I didn’t need, but it was something that I really wanted. (Note: this is my personal interpretation of what they thought, NOT an accusation.)
Now in comparison to MBO, the other place I went to today, I was in the consult for appx. 30 – 45 minutes. This orthodontist actually took the time to pull up all the pictures of my teeth on the computer and explained to me every problem that I had and exactly how she was gonna shift my teeth around to address my chief complaints. She also said she would be able to adjust my uneven smile as opposed to Dr. Zhu who said the only way to fix it was through surgery. At the end of this consult, I was given a folder with a welcome letter as well as colored copies of the pictures of my teeth AND a list of my diagnoses. Being that I am a little OCD, I noticed that this place took a more pictures of different views of my teeth than MBO did.
So overall, even though Dr. Zhu has a very impressive resume, the consultation felt a bit rushed and impersonal. I believe that chemistry is very important between a patient and their healthcare provider and I didn’t feel it with MBO.
