The WORST experience. Being from Italy and having lived in best places from Beverly Hills to London and San Francisco, I chose this place based on previous reviews to bring my Ferragamo shoes.
The owner was obnoxious and it was the worst service ever experienced. The guy even refused to let me know if he could take care of more work for me and literally sent me to hell.

There’s several Marco Shoe Repair. It appears to be a chain. I recently visited the location at Second Av and E 63 St. All I needed him to do was place glue underneath the sole of one sneaker which somehow became loose at the front half. I really like the style and it was already sold out in my size or I would have insisted on a replacement from the manufacturer. It didn’t take a shoe repair man to handle it, but I figured that he already has the right glue so let him do it. I can’t imagine that it would take more than 5 minutes for a pro, but if you ask me this wasn’t even a repair, because the shoes were new and undamaged other than the sole becoming loose while still attached. He tried to bill me $ 15 for it. LOL I couldn’t imagine that it would be more than $ 5 bucks which is why I hadn’t asked. It’s not a stretch to say that this is actually the sort of :“job” most ethical shoe repair I know would have refused to bill. Does the fix appear undetectable? Yes, but it was a glue job, for goodness’ sake.
He can charge whatever he wants, but if his pricing is going to be exorbitant, then he should have a published menu of his pricing or mention it upfront as part of the service agreement before conducting any fix. One may justify the expense if a shoe repair reflects talent and the cobbler is great at what he does, but not for slapping on some glue and pressing for 5 min.
The moral of the story? Request a price quote.

The owner is RUDE, NASTY. I have spent upwards of $ 450 a year at this shop for many years. I don’t even live in the neighborhood. The last time I brought in many things for a bill of $ 170, Including a pair of gold shoes to refresh. Upon pickup I noticed he sprayed them silver! Instead of apologizing he made it like I was in the wrong, and wanted me to pay for them. I told him he shouldn’t have changed the color without asking, and he told me not to come back to his store. STAY AWAY !!! And I wouldn’t even give him a star except had to in order to post.

There is an upside to being an unpopular store. No lines.
Dropped in for a shoe shine ($ 3 plus tip) to seal out the snow and salt. Served immediately, with cream-​based treatment over five minutes. Shoes looked great; I wonder if the more expensive ($ 5) off-​the-​foot wax would involve hard waxes.
Also got a belt reduced. Definitely overcharged at $ 10 for a snip and re-​clip, but job was turned around rapidly without scratching on the clasp.
Cash only. Have to cheat on taxes to stay solvent?

I was extremely disappointed with service. The owner (or employee) said I needed to make a $ 10 deposit and that the total cost would be $ 20. I thought this was expensive but was eager to get the shoe repaired. The owner justified requiring a deposit because there were people who never picked up their shoes. He pointed to a pile of shoes that were never claimed. When I picked up the shoe, it was slightly tighter than before. I will never go back there

This place is a rip off! $ 18 for heel taps. Get out of here. AND he barely speaks English.

Like many others who have reviewed, Marco scammed me. He does okay work, and I had used him many times, only to have him claim I hadn’t paid and to charge me twice. He then yelled and cursed at me when I tried to explain that he was cheating me. Best part is that, when I got home, he didn’t even do the full job (only replaced heals when he was supposed to do the whole sole). Stay away! He obviously makes more through the scam than by treating loyal customers well.

Terrible establishment. Customer service is practically non existent. And they decided to stop working at 630pm even though it says they are open until 7pm and their doors were open.

I’ve been going here for almost 10 years and I truly believe they are better than most other cobblers. I’ve mostly done new soles & heels, as well as taps. The pricing for these things is reasonable and definitely cheaper than doing it in other neighborhoods, like Midtown near many offices. Considering how «hard» I wear my shoes, I think it’s reasonable that I don’t need to take any pair of shoes in more than once a year — and my repairs last longer from here than they have from other cobblers. Also, they always clean up your shoes (even if you don’t ask them to) — and I don’t mean polish, I literally mean wipe down and clean up. Many other places don’t do this nice little extra.

i wish i read the reviews before i went here but i was just so excited that it was so close!
he told me that my shoes would be ready on friday, i came back on saturday and after waiting 20 min for him to talk to me (i was the only one in the store), he asked me for my ticket. i said i forgot it and he said he was too busy to deal with someone who forgot their ticket and to come back later.
i left, came back and he could not find my shoes. his crew helped look and they finally said oh yea, they’re not ready yet. i said i should get money off because it was taking longer, he said no. come back.
during this trip, a guy walked in and said his car died and asked to use a phone. marco screamed «GET OUT OF MY STORE!!!» and the guy left
i came back on sunday and marco said $ 45. i said i think i already paid, no? he said no. i said oh, ok, can i see my shoes? he grabbed them out of my hands and said «you can’t see them until you pay me!!» (um, can you believe that???) i told him i didnt need to be treated so rudely and he said i dont care, get out of my store.
so clearly, i will NEVER go back there. it is expensive and the service is awful to the point of cruel.

Stay clear of Marco Shoe Repair. High prices and shoddy service. I recently had heels and soles replaced on a pair of dress shoes. A few weeks later, one of the heels fell off. I could see that many of nails used to secure the heel were bent and useless to anchor the heel. I went back to Marco and asked him to reattach the heel, showing him all of the bent nails. He refused unless I paid him another $ 5. I’d rather give my money to a shoemaker who does it right the first time. Bye-​bye Marco!

I do not recommend Marco’s. Yes, they are quick, but the workmanship is shoddy and careless. This was my second time giving them a try and this experience was worse than the first. I brought in a pair of expensive hiking boots to have the soles shored up, just a simple gluing really. When I went to pick them up the repair wound up costing twice as much as I was originally quoted and when I pointed out areas they missed, Marco said that it would cost twice that amount again because he hadn’t seen the spots initially. You would think in this day and age when cobblers are a dying breed the ones that were still around would take a bit of pride in their workmanship. Poor form, I will not be back.

Expensive, slow and bad repair quality. Got the zippers for a pair of boots repaired for the price of which I could have gotten new boots. Given the cold, I relented to the price but when I got them back (a day later then they promised), the repair had left grease stains on both boots. No discount for the damage was offered. Find somewhere else.

I went to Marco for years and years and the job was always well done. I went to have a pair of shoes and a belt repaired. I went to get the belt first and I paid for everything then. When I went back to get the shoes I was told I hadn’t paid for them. They held my shoes hostage even though I had paid for them the day before. He knows I have gone for years and I paid him directly, not some other employee — I was shocked at how he treated a loyal customer. I ended up paying twice for my shoes. So I haven’t been back. I’ve tried some other places and the work is all fine and I’m not treated badly. It was really really shocking. I was heartbroken because the work was always great but there is too much competition in the city to be treated like that. There is a place on Wall Street that is great. Totally a hassle to get to but the guy is super nice and does great work and would never screw you like Marco did.

I do not recommend this place. I’ve gone a few times and the work is rather sub-​par, replaced heels quickly wear down — more so than when I go other spots. The time before last I brought shoes in, they told me they’d been done in a day — I went in a week later to pick them on my way to work — and they hadn’t even started working on them! I decided to give them another shot — why I’m not really sure. I brought a pair of light brown boots in with natural wood heels for new soles and heels. They dyed the heels and soles dark brown — I could let that go, but they got the dye all over the boots! There were miscolorations all over the boots! When I pointed this out they claimed it was previously miscolored and just shined they up again. I admit the boots were not new and a bit scuffed up, but they were not discolored. I didn’t get my money back, and now my boots are marbled with dark brown dye.

I’ve made do with a lot of average to bad shoe repair shops, and I am thrilled to have this place in my neighborhood! The place is clean, good customer service, good prices, fast service and great work. I’ve taken in some pretty beat up pumps and shoes with straps coming apart and they’ve done wonders. I highly recommend them.
