I just ordered the Bulgogi Bento Box, and it was delicious! Generous serving of the super flavorful and tasty meat! It also came with rice, edamame, a side salad, and dumplings. I’ll definitely be returning, I highly recommend this place.

Are you kidding me with this place? We always thought it was good, but tonight we ordered from here and an hour later it still hadn’t arrived.(We live ONEBLOCK away.) I called and they put me on «hold», which meant the dumb bint put the phone down while she went about her business. I could hear everything she was doing – taking orders, talking to people, etc. She had forgotten about my call. So I hung up and called back. Eleven times. Busy every time. I guess they have only one stupid phone line and because she hadn’t hung it up, I couldn’t get through. My husband finally left to walk over there, and she called me to say lord only knows what, because she sounded drunk. She said she would get the order to us «asap». We were at this point one hour and 20 minutes after we had ordered. I told her to keep her stupid food and cancel the order. Now my husband is out looking for something for us to have for dinner. At 10:00 pm. Will NEVER order here again. So much for the one Korean place on the Upper East Side. Thanks, Maroo. For literally nothing.

Went in just to go a to go order. Bulgogi bento is awesome and well worth the money. Staff is friendly and it was ready quickly!

Very friendly staff. No restrooms. I ordered the galbi bento box for lunch. Good galbi, but nothing about this meal that really stood out for me to want to come back. It was a bit pricey for what I ordered. $ 16+ The edamame was something I wasn’t expecting in the bento box, which would have been nice, but it was really cold. I will most likely not return here.

Solid Korean offerings. Spicy pork rice bowl is delicious. I’m just happy to have any Korean offerings on the UES. It has been a dead zone for any decent Asian offerings other than sushi for so long.

I ordered a bibimbap. The vegetables were more than plenty, but the beef was ridiculously little for the price I paid. I would have expected twice the amount for that price.

First time customer today. Got the Spicy Pork Rice Bowl and it was a religious experience. I plan frequent this place in the future.

I ordered the spicy pork bento box and it was absolutely delicious. It wasn’t just«spicy» it was the correct amount of spicy that didn’t leave me bored and didn’t make me have to chug milk after each bite. Albeit it was kinda salty, but hey it’s spicy pork so you can’t really expect it to not have some salt in there. The vegetables were crunchy and the rice was also really good. The dumplings were not the main star of the bento box but they were decent, not the best I’ve had but better than most I’ve had(that weren’t homemade). The inside is very neat and spacious enough to sit down in if you have say a stroller or a lot of bags with you. And the service was very good, the people were really friendly and I ordered my food near closing time too.

Ordered the spicy pork bowl. Quick service, rice was perfect. Comfortable little shop — clean and modern. Excellent experience.

A gem on the upper east side. My friend thought he was getting some trumped up Chinese food. Food was fresh, delectable and affordable. They didn’t get the full 5 stars, simply because of a misunderstanding with our order. Quaint, and rustic, can barely seat 20 people, but a good place for 2.

It is very hard to find an authentic Korean restaurant in UES, came here for a quick dinner and the bulgogi bento box was mediocre, this place seems to be more like a fast food stand, but if you know the Korean food truck Korilla, Maroo’s bento box was definitely not comparable to it.

Pretty sure Maroo(Maru) means heaven in Korean. The food is good but… The portions are large. I’d say a bowl is enough to fill you up, rather than the large bento boxes. I like the type of miso they use in the soup. It’s a milder flavor than the red and brown varieties. Good for a quick bite.

Very quick delivery– I feel like I barely waited at all. I ordered bimbimbap on a Monday lunch(didn’t seem like any lunch special really stood out to me, so I just ordered this classic dish). I realized I was craving some heartier Korean food as it arrived though… but sadly, Maroo doesn’t offer soondoboo or dolsot. The portion was pretty big, with a generous portion of vegetables and meat. Miso soup actually very on-point! I was a bit disheartened that I had to order a side of kimchi, as the dish didn’t come with small dishes. I suppose that’s what I get when I order from one of the only 2 Korean restaurants on the Upper East Side, though. Next time definitely should make the trek to K-town instead.

Fresh tasty and healthy. And he people who work here are super friendly. Usually get the bimibap with chicken and brown rice and kimchi. Awesome.

This place seemed really average in terms of both quality and taste to me. The food was good but nothing spectacular for the price. However, it does seem like a rare find for the area. When i went, they were close to closing so there weren’t any other customers, but it still took them a while to prepare our food. They also dont give as many of the korean side appetizers that most places give. All in all, I would only go if i were craving korean food in the area.

Today was the first time I’ve been to this location after grieving the loss of the Teriyaki Boy that used to reside here, mostly because the food is more expensive and I consider a $ 10 casual lunch a splurge. I got the Spicy Pork Bento Box via Seamless(pickup) and it was ready and packaged by the time I had arrived about 10 minutes later. The food was still piping hot when I sat down to eat it and they used rubber bands to make sure the lid stayed on the huge container which was thoughtful — it’s always good that the restaurant cares about the customer through these small gestures! The pork was smothered in some spicy Korean sauce and it was actually spicy unlike many of the other restaurants on the UES that claim to have«spicy» options which are actually flavorless and cater to a clientele with no spice tolerance. Unfortunately the sauce was too heavy to finish and was overwhelming by the end of the meal(but great in the first few bites). The dumplings that came with my bento were great and I’ll probably get an order of those plus something new next time I come since the spicy pork was too heavy. All in all, I was pleasantly surprised by the overall quality of this new-ish Korean joint, especially since this neighborhood is severely lacking in authentic East Asian cuisines.(No, the take out Chinese food and awkward Korean-Japanese-Chinese fusion restaurants are not authentic.) The dumplings were delicious and a refreshing change from the 50 cent frozen, prepackaged shumai that most restaurants include in their bento boxes. I recommend Maroo 4⁄5!

Finally had a chance to check out this relatively new Korean — Japanese resto that opened up in the space where Teriyaki Boy used to be. We decided to stay home last night and in our laziness of couch surfing ordered Maroo off Seamless. Food arrived hot within the 30 minute time frame so that was a plus. We both went with the Chicken Rice Bowl with steamed vegetables and teriyaki sauce. Taste was ok and there was a ton of rice with some veggies mixed in and chicken strips on top with the sauce over it. It was an extra $ 1 for brown rice which brought it up to $ 11 total for each. Honestly, I could have done with less rice and more veggies, but I thought the protein part was a passable amount. Flavor was decent if a bit on the bland side. The one negative I would say here is that it seems a bit overpriced for what it is. Looking through the reviews that is a recurring opinion here from many who have dined or ordered from this place. If they would just be a bit more realistic and lower their prices a little it would be more in-line for the neighborhood they reside in. Overall, the food we sampled was ok, but the value is debatable for what we ordered.

I got this today when hanging out with my friend. The place is small and clean. Bento was great with large portion. Next time I will try the Tofu Soup.

Very delicious, so many flavors, was put on to this place by my sister in law. She was on the money with this little spot. Enjoyed a Galbi Bento Box which was beef short ribs marinated in Korean BBQ sauce with rice, salad, and soup. Great place, look forward to going again very soon.

Disclaimer: I’m Korean so I have a different perspective. So there’s really no good Korean place in this part of Manhattan. I suppose something Korean is better than nothing. I usually order delivery from here and the best thing about this place is that the delivery guy is so fast. Anyway onto the food. It’s average Korean food at a high price. The spicy pork bowl is good and so is the bi bim bap(rice mixed with veggies and meat) I remember that kim chee wasn’t free last time I ordered which is a Korean no no. But who charges extra for egg for bi bim bap? Last time I checked the egg is almost as essential as the rice in bi bim bap. I did try the soon tofu soup which was surprisingly good but I wasn’t sure if it’s because my expectations were low. For the tofu soup I would go to BCD instead.

Muy rica comida koreana, si no te gusta el picante ni se te ocurra pedir el spicy pork, muy rico pero si es picante. Los noodles divinos, recomiendo de camarón
