I love this store. I make it to NYC at least once a year and always head straight to this store. The apparel just fits me really well. Unfortunately there’s only 2 locations in the USA. I wish they’d come to Minnesota (Mall of America is expanding their luxury stores, hint hint!). I’m heading to NYC next month and really looking forward to stopping back in.

The experience at the store is great, and the clothing is excellent. But, do not order online if there is a sale. I bought two pairs of pants during the Black Friday sale, and when I asked for an even exchange because they didn’t fit, I was told my only option was to bring them in to the store. That’s great but I live 3,000 miles away in California. Didn’t matter — they would rather lose the sale from a repeat customer than honor the price I already paid. Ridiculous.
Stick to the store, as their online customer service is abysmal.

This is one great store on 5^th Avenue, with down to earth pricing. The service is always impeccable and the clothing is European style. I personally love it!

Update! I called Massimo AGAIN because its been four more days and my order is STILL listed as sitting in the warehouse. The customer service person said that the order actually left the warehouse but could not explain why my account says it has not. When I asked why I haven’t received an email stating that the order has shipped she said, «Massimo doesn’t send emails when items have shipped but rather they send emails 1 day before the item is to be delivered.» Once again, huh?!
She told me I should rest easy because my item is going to be delivered today or tomorrow. To which I said, «Well if that is the case, shouldn’t I have received a email because its the day before delivery?» Her response was, «Oh, well, we don’t send day-​before-​delivery confirmation emails on Mondays.» Once again, nothing these people say makes any sense. I gave up fighting because the person on the phone didn’t speak great English and it seemed like a moot point. Oh and as a side note, when I asked her for the tracking number, she provided one but (to no one’s surprise) FedEx has no record of it.

I love the quality of the clothes. The price is reasonable. The salesperson is usually very friendly and helpful.

First visited the Massimo Dutti store in Rome and noted the high quality of the clothing. I didn’t buy anything in Rome. This time, in NYC, I happened to be on 5^th Ave. and spotted the store while searching for a replacement for a down vest I lost on this trip. I went in after visiting other large retail establishments and coming up empty handed, and received great help from the staff and left with 2 items, including a replacement for my down vest (purchased in Rome this fall and coveted – so sad to lose it!). The clothes are lovely, fairly priced, and for the most part not made in China, a real plus!

Massimo Dutti has some nice clothing, but the customer service in store and from corporate is terrible! Their return policy is horrendous and the managers in store (Kyle) are either unwilling or unable to help.
I like a few of the clothing items I own from there, but they are not so great that they can justify the abhorrent customer service experience. For better quality and similar prices with a much more enjoyable customer experience you can go to dozens of other stores.

I’m giving 2 stars for their On-​Line service. I live on the West Coast and we don’t have a store here so instead I thought on-​line would be the next best thing especially after seeing all the horrible reviews regarding customer service. I ordered my items on the 28 of November and they have yet to arrive. I had to call customer service twice to find out why it was taking so long. Usually any online provider ships within 24hrs. I waited 3 days before I called.
The first time they assured I would be receiving a confirmation email. Never got one. I had to call back a week later to find out if it had already been shipped. The customer service told me it had and gave me the UPS shipping number over the phone! Wow, I expected at least a conformation email letting me know my items have been shipped and the UPS tracking number. Got none of that. Instead it’s 9^th of December and I still have yet to receive my items. Unbelievable. I guess the customer service is horrible whether you’re at the store or ordering on-​line.
I want to order more stuff but do I really want to wait 2 – 3 Weeks just got some gear??? I think not. If they want to want to make a strong presence in America and be able to compete with the giants that are Banana Republic and JCrew then they really need to work on their customer because if there’s one thing us Americans feel is as important as the item we are buying, it’s the customer service.

This review is for the terrible customer service. This brand is positioned at the level of Zara all over Europe and I like their clothes for daily, basic pieces. I’ve been shopping here for a while and I’m aware of the size I wear in this brand.
I went in looking for a specific jacket and I couldn’t see the size I wanted on the racks.
I asked the sales associate nearby (Eastern European name, blond hair) if she could check for my size in the stockroom. She looked at me like I had asked her a huge favor then told me that I should try a size 8. I told her I’ve always worn a size 2 or 4 in Massimo Dutti and I wanted to try a 4. She then practically rolled her eyes and made a face and told me that this jacket runs small. I said, sure but could she please check for a size 4 anyway. At that point she told me that «I was a big girl and I had big shoulders» so there is no way a small size was going to fit me. She then walked off without offering to help. I was so shocked and humiliated beyond belief at being told that I was essentially fatter than I imagined!!! I’m 5.7″ and 123 lbs. in what world does that make me a «big girl». And even if I was obese, what right does a sales associate have to judge my body?
This kind of weight shaming might be ok in Europe but I will not return to this store ever again. It is despicable customer service.
PS: I went home and ordered the jacket online in a size 4. Perfect fit!

So here’s the thing, I love this store. We live in boston so I don’t get to visit often, but this weekend we made a special point to hit it during our visit. I walked out a very jealous girlfriend because my boyfriend scored an amazing jacket on sale while I walked out empty handed. Ugh!
The purpose of this review however, is not to let you know how envious I am, but let you know how stellar the mens customer service was. We were greeted immediately as we approached the floor and as he saw the jacket on the hanger he began to look for a size, a gentleman came over to see what size he needed and sadly informed us he only had a L, XL and XXL. He tried the L on anyway and as he stood in the mirror checking out this fine jacket the sales person came over and helped adjust some buttons on the side to taper the jacket a bit more. After paying and before leaving he was thanked and reassured three separate times for his purchase by the gentleman that helped him. The best part was it wasn’t just the one guy, everyone else working in that area that we so much as said hello to was very friendly and grateful for our business. A+ experience on all accounts!

I just went into the Fifth Ave store, just to get reminded why I hate going to that location. I would much rather purchase my clothes online or fly to Europe.
I can agree that the customer service is great… if you’re older and flaunt your wealth. I may be in my early 20s and may wear flip flops while I shop, but that doesn’t mean I should be ignored by the sales associates in the store. Every time I go, no one even says hello, nor does anyone bother to help.
The cherry on top– when I walked out of the dressing room with the cutest pink pleated skirt (and no one has helped me or acknowledged me while I was in the store or dressing room), a sales associate in the dressing room smiled at me and said, «remember to let them know that [the sales associates name] helped you out!»
Are you kidding me. I left the dressing room, placed the skirt back on the rack, and left.
Yes, the clothing and the store décor are gorgeous, hence the 2 stars. However, I would not give this location any more stars than that. The customer service is lacking on so many levels.

Low quality control and worse customer service.
I bought a few pairs of pants and a jacket at the online store because of their representation that I could get the pants altered for free in-​store. The clothes seemed relatively affordable, given the style level and (alleged) quality, and the ability to have them altered for free (or return them in store if they didn’t fit) was what prompted me to buy. When I went to the store for alteration, I was told — for the first time — that alterations would be $ 10 per pair because the pants had been on sale. When I showed them that the website simply said that alterations were free and didn’t include any exceptions, instead of admitting a mistake, they doubled down. Eventually a third tier manager «comped» the alterations, but basically made me feel like he was doing me a huge favor.
To add insult to injury, the buttons on the jacket and one pair of the pants began loosening and falling off less than a month after purchase. This is obviously unusual and should not happen on quality garments — no wonder they seemed so affordable! When I brought it to the attention of customer service, instead of apologizing and offering me a token credit or a right to return the goods, they demanded that I send them a picture of the loose buttons (one had finally fallen off). After a few days I got a message indicating that they believed — based on a photo only — that this was MY fault and that they would do nothing. They told me «buttons fall off.» When I asked if I they would buy clothes where they expected the buttons to fall off of multiple pieces of barely worn clothing after less than four months, they had no answer.
They are arrogant, unhelpful, and the clothes are not worth the money. Don’t support them.

I first heard about this store when I went to Paris earlier in the year so I was pretty surprised when I found this one in NYC. I haven’t bought a single item from them because I think they are way overpriced for the quality. Aside from that, the biggest complaint I have is their customer service. I went to the store today for the first time to check out if they have leather skirts. I was first browsing around the store to find it myself but I couldn’t find any. I then ended up asking one sales associate named Anastasia or Anastaliya about the skirt but her undertone didn’t make me feel comfortable. It’s hard to describe but she sounded like she wanted to help but she was acting impatient and rude at the same time. It was very awkward. So she called the stock room to see if there were leather skirts but didn’t even bother to show me what the skirt even looks like. She didn’t ask if I want it long or short. nothing. she just assumed I would like the one that they have in stock. When it was finally brought out, it was just a simple mid length leather skirt which was fine by me so I tried it on anyway. it was a little tight around the hip area so I asked Anastaliya if there were any other styles. she bluntly said no and said it will stretch. Clearly, I was no longer in the mood to deal with her and told her I’ll think about it. She even handed me her «business card» hoping that I end up buying the skirt. With her rude demeanor, she definitely deserved no commission from me. I crumbled the card and left it in the dressing room and vowed never to step my foot into this store ever again. Yeah I was in a b* mode bc I don’t think I or any customers deserve that kind of treatment when we are simply asking for a product. The whole shopping experience itself was unpleasant. In terms of business, you can tell they don’t attract as many customers as Zara. They have to train their staff better if they want to stay in business.

A Spanish brand that uses an Italian name. The best product line under Inditex, like BR is the best one of Gap.
1. The interior decoration is very European, the space is huge with two floors for women’s clothes and one for men’s. But still I wish they could carry more items. Staff is friendly and ready to assist.
2. Clothes here are always slim and tight. I wear size 2 J. Crew, size S Banana Republic, but have to wear size M or size 40 Massimo Dutti.
3. Massimo Dutti is an expert in blouses and cardigans. The material doesn’t need to be those expensivs mulberry silk or Italian cashmere, with MD’s delicate designs like lace trims, embroiderry, pleated necks, flared sleeves, cute tiny metallic buttons, leather edgings and etc, their clothes are outstandingly elegant.
4. One thing creative and bold about their design is they really like to use different materials at different parts of their clothes. For example, a blouse can have a silk front but a cotton or viscose back, or a t shirt with chiffon sleeves on a cotton body. This way fashion and comfort can be combined.
5. One day I was so lucky that I found one parka I wanted to buy was marked downs at $ 59.99 from the original $ 198. Can you imagine how happy I was?

I have a penchant for this place. I love that I can find some nicely tailored cloths that fit for work at a fraction of the other store price tag. I had some excellent assistance from one of the people who worked here when I was trying to find an outfit for an event as well. I like this place a lot and recommend it to everyone. I was introduced to this place by a friend and didn’t realize this brand was very popular in Europe.
The styles are classic and reminds me of the Ralph Lauren line. The first floor is catered more to clientele with money to burn however, when we went to the basement were the prices were more of the price range of J. Crew (average price for trousers were about $ 70).
Almost all the outfits were neutral colors of brown, crème, black and white but again definitely tailored to the more European tastes.
The style is a bit more on the conservative side which is great as you can wear these pieces 2 – 3 years down the line.
I would recommend this place if you wanted to stretch your dollar and look more polished. It’s also off the fancy 5^th ave so you can impress some people when you walk out of that store with several bags in tow.

This was one of my favorite stops in Paris, so I was excited to see a 5^th Avenue outpost. I know this shop for having very reasonably priced work outfits that feel more special in detail and materials.
However, I found the customer service to be lacking in professionalism. What should have been at most, a 15-​minute trip, became a 45-​minute long ordeal.
I asked for a pair of gray pants that I had seen the week before. There were tons when I saw them. When I asked the salesperson about them, she had no idea what I was talking about about and then pointed out some other pair of trousers. She tried to get me to try on those pants and I said,’ No, I’m looking for the gray pants’. She told me to go upstairs and then she walked away. Wow, just like that? Very rude.
I stopped another gal, who didn’t know what I was talking about but then said she would try to check the stock room. She came back with the pair in five minutes. Thanks!
Then I went to the dressing room and took a blazer with me. After trying on the pants, I tried on the blazer and realized that I needed to borrow an undershirt to wear with the blazer. I popped up my head out of the dressing stall and asked if she could bring me a white v-​neck. Seeing that she was not with anyone and didn’t look that busy, I thought she would only be a few minutes.
What was supposed to be a wait of five minutes became three times that. I sat in the dressing room, just waiting. I popped my head out again and the girl had not moved from her spot. She was just hanging clothes on hangers. I sat inside my booth again and popped my head out again and saw that she was now on out on the sales floor, putting clothes back. But it looked like she forgot my request altogether. After ten minutes of this nonsense, I had to ask someone else for a shirt. I guess I asked the manager because this woman did not come back with a shirt but sent someone else to bring something to me. After I tried it all on, the dressing room girl came back and said, ‘Oh, you’re waiting for the shirt, right???‘
I decided to skip out on the blazer.
At the register, I went to go pay for the pants. I asked about complimentary hemming services. The cashier then said she would give me a piece of paper for the hemming. After I paid for it, she then offered to walk me to the back dressing rooms for the hem trim. When we got back there, the serviceperson said, no the workers in that dressing room do not do hems. So my cashier girl was confused and the serviceperson offered no help. So then we had to find a manager who knew where we could get hems done. After we finally found one, the manager said we had to go upstairs to the alterations department.
At this point, I was exhausted from buying my one pair of pants, so I decided to leave. I like these clothes but the customer service leaves much to be desired. The staff might look busy but they’re not busy helping customers.

For the Midtown office crowd who aspire to be more fashionable than the average Joseph A. Banks or Brooks Brothers endorser, yet are not willing to spend Saks and Burberry prices, fear not as Inditex decided to open its first Massimo store on 5^th Avenue.
Aiming to attract a more «upscale» white collar demographic (age 30 and over), Massimo comes to NYC with a quality selection of clothing for men and ladies in a sleek, yet cozy, two-​level space between 54^th and 55^th Street, previously occupied by Zara. It should be noted that Zara’s parent company is also Inditex.
As a fan of Banana Republic, I find Massimo’s selection and designs to resemble an upscale version of BR with more sophistication and detail to match the higher prices. Then again, an esteemed colleague, who prefers styles that are classic over trendy (and I tend to agree) liken Massimo to be the Ann Taylor for men. And there is nothing wrong with that.
The new store is also staffed with beautiful looking people, and I am fairly confident they are all models to some degree. While most of them are pretty to look at, male and female alike, patience will be tested while shopping there. The staff is still a bit inexperienced when it comes to inventory, communication, and working the registers. Shopping for a coat or jacket might take your twenty minutes even if you already know your size. But at least they are friendly and good looking. That ALWAYS helps.

I’ve been nagging HQ (via email, FB etc.) for years to open a store in the US and the day has come. The store is beautifully decorated and much cleaner than any of its US Zara stores. I love the flower arrangement in between the escalators.
The clothing here is great. The styles, color assortments, tailored/​slim cuts for men and the little details on the hardware/​trim makes all the difference in their clothing.
A lot of thought was put into this opening. It seems about half the staff is from overseas (given their accents) and are here training there US counterparts. The main floor and bottom floor have women’s clothing while the top floor has the men’s clothing.
The prices are higher than the European stores but that is a given. If they follow the European store calendars and US Zara store calendars then you should expect sales to happen only twice a year (around New Years and beginning of summer). If not already, the opening of this (and the DC store) will soon pave the way for online shopping for US customers.
I am glad NYC has another option for men’s clothing that is different from all the cookie cutter, boring designers/​retailers out here at a somewhat reasonable price. Hopefully Massimo Dutti will put enough of a dent in other businesses’ bottom line and force them to introduce more stylish, unique and higher quality items than they currently are offering.
Given that Massimo Dutti is new to US, it will take some time for them to work out the kinks as the shopping experience is much different here than over in Europe. I have ordered online (free shipping) and had no problem getting items shipped to the NYC store (in less than 5 business days) and similarly had no issue with returning part of my order that I was not satisfied with.
On a side note, if you are planning to go to Spain, then shop there vs. NYC. I spot checked several items b/​t US and Spain and prices were marked up 25−30% on average in my analysis. Also, sales are twice a year so be sure to shop then (right after Christmas and again during the summer; items are discounted 25%-70% off).
