Super helpful team. Been going there for 4 years now. Always super pleasant and very knowledgable about everything the process entails; insurance questions, which frames look best, whether to go with contacts, etc etc.

I found them through Unilocal when I first moved to NYC. Finding a doctor in NYC is tough, but when I walked in, it felt comfortable. Sometimes getting a refill for your contacts every year is problem some, but they made it really easy.
I got a new pair of glasses here (my dinosaur, out dated, only at home glasses had to go). They have a great mix of modern to classic. When I wear my glasses, I get complimented all the time on how great they look.
Highly recommend!

My husband and I have collectively gotten 3 pairs of glasses from this place and would no doubt go back to this place again. We visited many stores (including selima optique, warby parker, Robert marc etc) before finding this gem. Its collection suits our taste the best: chic and unique without being too trendy. And its staff are all very friendly! Note, adjustments and small repairs are complimentary ;)

Tiny, tiny facility, not many options for any real or substantial treatment for eye illness, Did not tell me they do not accept my insurance. Had to pay out of pocket. They want money. Pushy staff. Try elsewhere.

Best prescription! My primary concern is getting good vision from my glasses over style. However, you get both here. I have in 3 times and always, great service and perfect prescription. Jim Pilat has the best eye for getting the right frames for your face.

Maximeyes is why you live and shop in Manhattan. Customer Service and Selection second to none, you feel like you are at The Four Seasons. It’s your eyes! they deserve service this good, you are recognized by name on return visits.

It’s becoming increasingly difficult to find a respectful business in the city willing to respectfully do business. As a consumer in the city it’s not uncommon to feel like an inconvenience. Regardless of how much your willing to spend. Sometimes a Coke and a smile is too much to ask. Its refreshing when you stumble into a place happy to help. The staff is warm, friendly and inviting. They are extremely thorough and professional. This is the type of treatment you would expect but never receive. You can find the right service, fantastic selection of frames and respect all in one location. I highly recommend treating yourself.

As a lifelong wearer of specs, I typically have difficulty finding frames that are styled for adults but a good fit and shape for my small (er) and narrow (er) face.
Just ordered my 2^nd pair of handmade frames — too gorgeous not to buy, despite a price tag worthy of their unique value. Special appreciation for Virginia, eyewear stylist extraordinaire, who patiently, astutely, and consistently selects and recommends the best-​suited, best-​fitted eyewear I’ve ever owned.
The entire staff is professional, extremely knowledgeable and well worth the trip and price. Can’t recommend them enough.

My wife and I both purchased glasses here, and we’re both very pleased with the results. I’ve worn glasses for over 20 years, and I’m rather particular about them (both in terms of style/​fit, and most importantly visual performance). I purchased the Zeiss 3D free-​form lenses in a 1.67 index, and they are the most clear and cosmetically appealing lenses I’ve worn to date. I had some initial fitting issues, but Jim and Calvin patiently made sure that the lenses were ultimately crafted and fitted to perfection for my face/​frame. The staff is friendly and professional, and I’d highly recommend this practice.

I’ve tried a few different optometrists in New York but always end up coming back to Maximeyes, and this time it’s for good. Most recently I went somewhere else that was a bit cheaper but the glasses, while workable, were slightly off to the point where I started to wonder if it wasn’t starting to have a negative effect on my vision. After waiting probably longer than I should have I came back to Maximeyes and got a new pair of lenses from Dr. Elena Rosen (who is really fantastic) and everything looks so much sharper, and my eyes no longer have to strain to bring things into focus. Very pleased and the price difference is so small, it’s just not worth sacrificing the ability to see clearly to save a few dollars (there’s better places to save money).

I had a fantastic experience at Maximeyes! Their sales staff and optometrist were friendly and helpful. They had a great selection of modern frame styles, and I ended up with frames I love! The exam was great and I got a really accurate prescription. Seriously, the quality of these glasses is better than any I’ve ever had. For progressives, they have the widest field of focus I’ve ever experienced! I will definitely come back for my next pair of glasses, and I would recommend them to any of my friends!

There is only one word to describe Jim… LIFESAVER!!! First off, everyone at Maximeyes is amazing! So lovely and nice, they will take care of your eyes and give you great advice on glasses! Jim was amazing today when my glasses got damaged he was able to work is magic and make them new again. Many, many thanks! So nice to know I can rely on Maximeyes for help with all of my vision needs.

Jim and Dr. Rosen are awesome! The only eye center that I will only use for my family. Excellent selection of frames.

The staff here are very pushy for you to spend more and more. I did end up getting my glasses, here but didn’t feel good about it.
I think WITH insurance and an insurance discount of $ 220, it still came to $ 500+
And it wasn’t anything fancy…

I called my old eye doc who retired and the call automatically got forwarded here.
Scheduled a 3:30 appointment for the next day, got there 10 minutes early and was told that my appointment was at 4. No big deal, things happen.
I’m on my wife’s insurance which was on file with my old doc and never had a problem. I do not have her SSN memorized. They said I could pay cash or come back later because they couldn’t find me in system — that I needed her SSN. I let them know that I had wished they would have told me before I made the trip that I needed her SSN. I had called in advance to see what I needed. I could have brought it, no problems. It was never an issue with my old doc. They gave me a hard time that it’s not their fault, that it’s mine and how could they know… Had they said «sorry» it wouldn’t have been a big deal but it really bothered me that they tried make it my fault.

Maximeyes provides excellent advice on choosing just the right frames and does high-​quality work. When I walked into the shop recently, Jim Pilat remembered me from 3 years earlier. He then brought me several frame options for regular glasses and sunglasses — based on the structure of my face and how he perceived my tastes. Wonderful to get that kind of personalized service! I ended up choosing frames by Lindberg and Tom Ford — very happy with them. I will definitely go back the next time I buy eyeglasses.

Walked in here for the first time today after having enough of the commute to my old place that never seemed to help me the way I needed.
Immediately warmly greeted by Calvin. Helped me get checked in fast. While waiting for my exam, Virginia spent almost half an hour finding the best frames for me (and no, not the most expensive!). Incredibly nice, helpful people working in this store.
Dr. Rosen was great. I was a terrible patient, my eyes are very jittery and I can never keep them open. She really did her best with me and did what my last doctor couldn’t– helped me on my way to fix what turns out to be an astigmatism in both eyes.
Thank you so much, guys. I will most certainly be back if I can help it.

My experience here was such a pleasant surprise.
It was about 5 degrees out on a Friday and I really wanted to get my optometrist appointment out of the way once and for all. I went on my insurance’s website and found a place, called them and made a very last min, same day appointment.
Fast forward, I walked to where I thought was where I was supposed to be and that optometrist was closed down and out of business. I called the number again (which I guess is now being forwarded to Maximeyes) and they informed me of their location and that they are taking over the patients that went out of business. I was frozen and pissed off, feeling like maybe this was gonna be a little sketchy?
Finally I arrived and was greeted by this sweet girl named Yelena/​Elena? She checked me in and was great from the start. While I was waiting for the doctor, we walked around the store and went through a million frames and she was super patient and honest in helping me find the perfect pair for me. At one point she went over to another case across the room and grabbed a few pairs for me to try. This is how I found my pair! I couldn’t have picked something better for myself… and they were significantly cheaper than what I was looking at. She gave me lots of different pairs that ranged in price and I thought that it was great she wasn’t just trying to sell me the most expensive. This made me feel like it was most important for her to help me find the pair that worked for me most, rather than just sell me the most expensive.
The frame options were great, they had a lot of awesome styles and the location overall is super cute and not stuffy like optometrist offices can be.
Then for my eye exam, the doctor was great. She’s very chill and relaxed but takes her time in a meaningful way. I really felt like she was thorough and sweet.
I was originally looking for a place around Harold Square (but had some bad experiences there) and this was really convenient just taking the F down one stop.
Like I said, this whole thing was a pleasant surprise and I have already referrred a friend :)

I was looking for an optometrist near my office and decided to use Unilocal for recommendations. Thankfully it did not disappoint!
The location is accessible by subway so that was a big plus. The store is on the small side but stylishly decorated. The staff were all very cordial and pleasant to me and I got to see the Dr after about 10 minutes wait where I was providing my insurance and personal information. I got a standard eye exam and contact lens fitting ($ 70). The Dr was very pleasant as well and provided feedback as she did the different tests — like this is your eye pressure, no issues here etc. This was comforting to me. The Dr also gave me some contact samples to test out.
For selecting frames, they will take quite a bit of time to help you out and focus on your needs and specifications. I had old frames that were lopsided and a gentleman (don’t know his name) fixed this issue for me even though I had not purchased the frame from them (of course with the standard disclaimer that if they break, he isn’t liable).
I selected a frame from the (very) limited Davis collection, mostly because it was covered by my insurance, but they have a good selection of other brands. The glasses were ready for pickup within a week.
Overall excellent customer service and I can tell they pride themselves in the work they do. Keep it up!

I’d always gotten my eyeglasses in Chinatown — my family even drove down from CT to get them! With a wide Asian face and no nose bridge, it’s always a challenge to find frames that fit. Jim was very patient & helpful with me. I did shop around to other stores and decided to go with MaximEyes. I also splurged and went for Jim’s suggestion of the super thin Zeiss digital hd lens. So glad I did as they are amazing and as I usually have coke bottle glass lens. They are certainly the most expensive frames + lens I’ve ever gotten but they’re also the lightest weight ones I’ve ever gotten.
Originally estimated 21 business days, but they arrived 2 weeks later. Jim took the time to adjust them and did so again a few days later when I went back in as they felt a bit off. As others have mentioned, adjustments are done free here. Would definitely go back.
