Mikey Likes It Ice Cream

Had «ice ice baby» on red velvet waffles, amazing combination. Will return before he summer is over.

Best customer service! Stefan was awesome and even when it started getting packed he let us try a few flavors before deciding on the sea salted caramel popcorn and the strawberry cheesecake. This place has become my staple ice cream shop that never lets down!

I was not super impressed with the ice cream here. I tried all the different varieties and settled on rugalech ice cream. I mean it was ice cream and so I finished it, but I did not find myself particularly inspired by it; I think the problem was a somewhat crystalline texture. I will say that the staff was friendly and let me try every flavor. I also did not try the waffle/​ice cream combo (which might have been the reason to come here). Still, for what I have tried, I have had better ice cream elsewhere.

Sampled almost all of their ice-​flavors; liked the peanut butter and white chocolate the most. Friendly staff, heavy portions (one cup two scoops is enough for 2 persons), tasted good but not «omg amazing», hence a bit pricey.
Recommend to try it!

Walked in here not sure what to expect and was blown away!!! They only offer a handful of flavors but they are very well crafted and delicious. They also have a unique flavor of the month that get you to scratch your head and wonder what they were smoking when they can up with that but once you try it you realize how genius it is!
In addition to the ice cream they make waffle ice cream sandwiches with red velvet waffles which I had to try! Probably one of the best waffles I’ve ever had with perfect crispy edges but soft and moist in the inside. You can get it with your choice of ice cream so I went with the «Brady bunch,» banana pudding ice cream with chunk of vanilla waffers. The ice cream was very smooth with the waffers adding some texture and crunch. Best of all it tasted just like banana pudding!

The ice cream is amazing here — one of the best I’ve had so far (and I’m not an ice cream type of person). You have to come here early though as the sought out flavors always run out quick. My favorites are southern hospitality and pink floyd.
We usually get the Mac Daddy, which is 2 scoops of ice cream with waffles. I’m giving it 4 stars here because the other day, the waffle mix was spoiled. We had to throw out the waffle cause it tasted sour. Please refrigerate your waffle mix!
I would definitely go back but will think twice about the waffle.

Stopped by after lunch and got the Daddy mac with Truffle shuffle and Southern hospitality icecream flavors to share. If you like pecan definitely try Southern Hospitality.
Hot waffles with cold ice cream is perfect for people who crave icecream even in cold weather.

I think I’m being generous with 4 stars because I didn’t like it THAT much. The place is small and has a cool vibe. The flavors have cool names. I got the half red velvet waffle with a scoop of the Southern hospitality ice cream. I could not taste any hint of red velvet in that waffle, and it was $ 1 extra than the regular waffle… The ice cream was good. Very sweet, as expected. I didn’t get many pecans as I thought. That night they also had a bright blue Now ‘N Later flavor that I thought was interesting. I may be back to try another one of their unique flavors.
I went at a very late hour on a weekend, and they only had two people working, but there was a good number of customers in there. One person handled the orders and scooping while the other person made the waffles from the two waffle makers in the back. I can imagine this place getting very hectic so I hope they have more people working during the daytime on warm days.

Crazy flavors! They are absolutely delicious! The texture of the ice cream amazing as well-​the way ice cream should be!!!
I got the flavor of the months, Delirious, which was cherry pop tart with Swiss roll and chocolate chips. I also got a scoop of Southern Hospitality which had candied pecans and pecan pie pieces. The scoops were huge but I’m not complaining at all!

It’s a small spot so it can get irritatingly packed but it was joy at the end of waiting. I ordered the single scoop Brady Brunch which is some kind of banana pudding ice cream with Nilla crackers and Vienna? Fingers. Can’t remember the exact spelling or names but it was such a great combination. The crackers were surprisingly not soggy at all. For four dollars, this was a fabulous deal. Will be back for the other flavors.

Not sure where the name comes from but I like Mikey Likes It! The East Village has plenty of dessert options for someone with a sweet tooth like me and a lover of ice cream, it’s pretty much my idea of paradise. Mikey Likes It is a small shop but they pack cold, creamy decadence in every scoop.
Their signature ice cream, Ice Ice Baby is excellent. For ice cream, I’m definitely a more vanilla guy as opposed to chocolate. Chocolate ice cream doesn’t really do it for me but vanilla does and Ice Ice Baby has not one, not two, but three vanilla beans! Mikey’s blends the subtle notes of each vanilla bean and does wonders with it. You see the specks of the vanilla and that familiar vanilla smell. The Pink Floyd another great choice with the pieces of cheesecake mixed into the double strawberry ice cream. The Southern Hospitality is a solid choice which is warm with its cinnamon notes but the candied pecans are too sweet. Meanwhile, the Brady Bunch, a banana pudding ice cream with vanilla wafers and Vienna fingers, is good but the additions of the wafers and fingers get lost in the ice cream.
When you’re working with ice cream, I think its expected that staff has fun and they sure do. On my recent visit there was a crazy wall clock for their special House of Pain flavor featuring the creepy doll Chucky, red-​headed Cyndi Lauper, Flavor Flav, and that kid from A Christmas Story. Weird but awesome.

I went around an hour prior to closing, and they were out of several flavors (not their fault since it was close to closing). I got some strawberry ice cream, and it was more ice than cream… It tasted like it had been scooped from the bottom where all of the ice collected and it tasted more like a freezer than strawberry.
I would come back here based on recommendations and comments from friends that the quality is usually much better. Lesson learned: don’t go close to closing time! Will update review when I go during a better time of day.

East village has three types of «ice cream»
1) soft serve that’s not really ice cream
2) ice cream that is also not really ice cream
3) traditional ice cream
I love all three kinds! But sometimes you have a friend in town who hates soft serve or is too basic for flavors like ginger and earl grey. That’s when I take them to Mikey Likes It!
They have great flavors that cater to everyone! I am a huge fan of the foxxy brown and the mint.
The staff is also really nice and lets you try flavors if you’re unsure.

Great prices and great customer service! Unfortunately the flavors that floated my boat had run out for the day. I visited later in the evening to have the ice cream as my dessert after my meal at a nearby restaurant.
The man behind the counter was really friendly and offered tasters before you committed to a flavor. After I went out of my way to go here, I felt I got ice cream for the sake of it, and not because I was excited to try a particular flavor. I can’t even remember what flavor I got, so that just shows it wasn’t that memorable. I feel like it would have been an entirely different experience had they had the flavors I wanted available, like the banana or mint with brownie pieces.
I must say tho, they are very generous with their portion sizes, particularly considering the great price. I feel like I need to give this place another try when all flavors are available and I’m more passionate about the flavor.

SO yummy! Seems so simple. a waffle + ice cream, but the waffle tastes so good and the ice cream tastes so good.
We got the red velvet waffle with mocha ice cream and mmmm it was delicious. I thought the waffle would be meh because waffles are usually meh but whatever mix they make is so bomb. I feel a lot of waffles have a spongey texture to them especially when mixed with liquids or anything moist but the one at Mikey Likes It was not like that at all. Even though ice cream was melting all over it, it still didn’t get spongey. The warm + the cold mixed so well together and it wasn’t as soggy as I thought it would be.
A great dessert place to grab and go while in St. Marks! It’s even worth the trip if you’re somewhere else in the city :)

Adorable, little spot with a friendly staff behind the counter. Helloooo, Mikey Likes It!!! Just live the vibes at this spot, period. From the hilarious clocks on the wall, to the creative flavor names and even the fact that it’s just a hole-​in-​the-​wall.
I almost fell on the floor after tasting that sweet, mocha Foxy Brown with salted caramel swirls and Oreo morsels! The slight feeling that this could be onset of a diabetic coma was not enough to deter me from chasing that sweet explosion of pralines and pecan of Mikey’s Southern Hospitality-​served up on a carrot cake Mac Daddy waffle. $ 7 + tax
I could eat ice cream for breakfast, lunch and dinner and even love to make my own. These flavors are rich and creamy, made from scratch and you’ll also find new flavors «Flavor In Your Ear» on the smaller board to the left of the counter. Staple flavors (Redd Foxx, Southern Hospitality, Ice Ice Baby, Mint Condition, etc.) stay on the permanent board, to the right. I’ve tried flavors here that I normally hate, but Mikey has made it possible to love (esp. White Boiz). That’s talent.
MIKEY LIKES IT ICE CREAM – serving up ice creamy goodness and infinite foodgasms. This dairy wizard has my vote for any and everything he ever does. If you haven’t been… you’re missing out.

Location: Mikey stands out in lower east side of NYC. Although it may be hard to find, although they are on Ave A which is bit off the center, they are so fat da beast ice cream I have ever visited.
Ice cream: of course, I ordered their waffle with foxy brown — mocha with orea. The whole thing tastes amazingly. My friend h who hardly ate ice cream finished my waffle. She said it was delish. As for me, the whole ice cream is blended well with mocha flavor, meaning it’s smoothie and awesome. Plus, their favorite ice cream flavor — ice ice blah blah– ran out of fast. I was there around 7 but the flavor was running out at that time. Next time, next time I will get that flavor !
Service: fast but not organized. The waiting line is misunderstanding as well as the interaction with the people working there
Overall: 5 stars cuz it’s food is delish!

Well, Mikey may like it, but Marina loves it.
New York City might be over-​saturated with great ice cream shops, particularly in the East Village, but after eating at Mikey’s I don’t really want to try anywhere else. Their ice cream is incredibly rich, but in a way that doesn’t make you immediately regret it 5 minutes after finishing your cone. Prices are also reasonable, around $ 4 for a single (large) scoop.
While other shops are capitalizing on bizarre flavors (I’m looking at you, celery sorbet at OddFellows), Mikey Likes It takes classic flavors, amps them up 10 notches, and incorporates awesome pop culture references.
I originally came for the Foodbabyny special Sesame Street (sesame ice cream with birthday cake chunks), and was so impressed that I came back for a second time later that weekend. This time, I tried Follow the Leader (August 2015 special), which was navy bean pie ice cream with navy bean pie pieces. Do I know what a navy bean pie is? Nope. Do I care? Hell nah, it was delicious. Sweet, creamy texture, a healthy amount of pie chunks– I’m a fan.
I’ve noticed that their ice cream melts very quickly after scooping, so it’s best to eat fast (not that I mind). Definitely returning to try one of their amazing waffle ice cream sandwiches one day.

This place was MONEY!!!
I came here with a few of my boys on a night we were sending one of our good friends of to Australia! So you know the night was filled with «High Spirits» if you know what I mean.
We had amazing food throughout the evening and lots of great laughs. We decided to check this place out that we heard good things about and it truly did not disappoint. My man Nick helped us out. He was able to break down everything from beginning to end and he appreciated the aroma we brought into the shop from the car.
We tried so many things and honestly every flavor was tasty and creamy. Would’ve loved to try some Southern Hospitality but they were out of it. Im a chocolate fanatic and was a bit disappointed when seeing the chocolate flavors were rather on the light side and did not look to chocolaty but tasted great.
The scoops are enormous and very fairly priced. One thing I have to pick a bone about was the AC was too damn cold lol. When standing by the order station the AC is blowing straight at you lol but I can live with that.
Can’t wait to come back for some chocolate thunder and say whats up to my boy Nick.
