I hope this place makes it! Went on a Monday night around 7:30pm, was greeted and seated quickly. Waitress was very attentive and helpful. Food came out at a normal wait time, and was phenomenal. But as most kosher places had to ask for water refills, things like that. The ONLY reason it is not getting 5 stars is because there is NO alcohol. If you’re going with a guy or someone who enjoys a drink with their food let them know they will not be getting a beer with their burger. Only downside. If they don’t plan on getting their liquor license at least make it byob!

Would give it a 0 if I could! Not greeted when we walked in & then when we did say«3 please» to a girl chatting to a friend, she didn’t greet us but just casually pointed to a table to sit. After reviewing the menu & seeing $ 18 disco fries & a $ 18 sandwich(no side), i felt immediately ripped off. No one came to our table after 5 min, so we walked out. No one cared anyway. Stay away!

I came here during an off time so the food came super quickly. I got the fungi burger with cheese & it was really good! The prices are too high for the value, & the service seemed pretty good. I probably wouldn’t come back here since there are many other better options in the area but it’s worth the try!

Turkey burger was Capital A awful. Prices way too high for what it is, even if it is kosher.

No alcohol license, okay that’s fine… Took about an hour to serve the only 7 customers in the restaurant, okay that’s fair, a large group came in after us. Buffalo chicken looks, tastes, and smells like BBQ, so if you don’t like BBQ, avoid! Lamb burger was a little harder than the crunchy roll it was served between… okay that’s fine, it was flavorful still. Someone in our group ordered the small soup, she left disappointed, paying $ 12 for 8 oz of water with some diced vegetables in it… I would actually say, don’t order the soup! Salmon wrap had more dressing than salmon, maybe the chef had their proportions mixed up… Some things that were unacceptable though(if the above wasn’t): — no ability to make change with bills(not a problem for us because we had options of paying, but what if you only had cash!) — someone asked for a side of the free chips with the burger, they had a huge problem with it and the excuse was«you didn’t mention it when I wrote down the order.» hm, okay that’s fine. We ate at the restaurant to accommodate our Kosher friend, but at the end of the experience, she said that she would rather trek up to the UWS to enjoy a real meal.

As you can see, this is the most critical review I’ve given of a place yet. The reason is not because the food was bad, on the contrary I really enjoyed the food. The service wasn’t terrible, it was mediocre. So why the bad review? Well, my bill was $ 77 which is a very reasonable price for the amount we ordered. I was planning on giving a $ 15 dollar tip which I believe to be pretty generous for mediocre service. I paid with a 100 dollar bill, expecting the change and then to leave a tip from the change like is customarily done in any other restaurant. But alas, the change didn’t come and being on a date I wasn’t gonna make a big deal about $ 8. So yes, $ 8 that the waitress kept is the difference between a 4 – 5 star review and a 2 star review. Thank you Unilocal for allowing to feel like I got my payback.

A group of us went here for a team lunch. Given it was a Monday, it was pretty quiet, hence the service was pretty fast. Food solid, but pricey for what it is — prices for entrees — steak and salmon similar to those of a much nicer restaurant. Best to stick to the burgers if you want a reasonably priced meal. Wouldn’t rush to go back, but ok if you are looking for a kosher restaurant in the area.

Solid on the kosher side, gourmet burgers and good steak. I had the steak and wings, my wife had the turkey burger. Pretty good flavors.

This was one of the worst dining experiences I have ever had… It started off with a rude waiter named Romel. He was cold from the beginning. Anything that we asked him for came back to us wrong. On the third try we asked to speak to someone higher up and we were told there were no managers on duty. NOMANAGERSONDUTYIN A KOSHERRESTAURANT!!! Needless to say the party of 5 I was with were all disappointed. I will say we have been to this place many times in the past and the food was better then. You can’t leave a place like this unattended, it won’t run correctly.

Super mediocre food, hiked up prices, terrible service. Burger is less than ideal. No bloody refills on soda. Filled with only one demographic

Overall, a pretty solid kosher burger place — more detail below: Pros: –Sauces are amazing. Their special mayo sauce is great, and so is their bbq sauce. –Wings — these are very well done and fried to perfection. We got the buffalo — it was more of a spicy bbq than the true reddish buffalo(think«Franks») you would want to see, but they were really great and compare to what you see in non kosher places. The white sauce was very flavorful, although to be honest it could have been thicker. –Service — The service was pretty good, although they did forget our order of french fries. That said, they did not charge us. –Burgers — They tout their burgers as grass fed, hormone free, etc, and you can definitely taste the difference. For the competition set, I’d probably put them below Amsterdam burger, but above Gotham Burger, Le Marais’ burger and some others. It helps that their burgers are fairly large, and it’s great that they give you a knife to cut it in half. Definitely a thumbs up for that. I would suggest adding a centimeter or two to the bun size. For the basic burger it’s perfect, but when you add egg or brisket(like I did), it can get pretty messy. –Fake Bacon — their fake bacon is one of the top I’ve tasted in NYC, particularly in texture. That said, the pieces can be inconsistent and it can be chewy. Might help to make sure these are uniform thickness. It easily beats Le Marais and Amsterdam burger fake bacon. Cons: –Lack of alcohol — not sure why they do not have a liquor license. Considering the location, the crowd, and the existing bar that they have already built, it seems like a no-brainer investment.

Was excited to check this place out and went with a group of friends yesterday. Had a good number of people so we had high expectations to start, but they quickly went down. Food is overpriced for what you are getting. Much better options in the neighborhood for significantly less. When I ask the waitress if I could have my burger medium she replied«I’ll try, but they kinda do whatever they want in the kitchen.» Surely this should have been a sign. When asking about the Steak surprise she also said«I don’t know, it’s a steak.» Burgers came out very well done. Burgers had too much bread and they also had sauce on the burgers not mentioned on the menu. The $ 5 ice tea I ordered came out flavored of heavy lemon and sugar… kind of exactly like a Snapple… hmmm When trying to pay we got attitude from server as well. Hopefully they right their ship soon or maybe something better will replace it!

Mocha Burger is, best I can tell, fills some kind of overpriced kosher burger niche the owners felt was missing from the neighborhood, which makes even less sense than the Russian-run fried chicken and lobster place(Lobster Smack, anyone?). It’s not that I didn’t spot the new awning across the street from my building on Laguardia Place, but I had absolutely no curiosity to sate, what with Bareburger and other worthy options nearby(sadly, the Five Guys that used to be on this same block shuttered a couple of years ago). No, what brought me here was the plain and simple fact that nearly every other option at midnight on a Sunday night was not, err, very attractive. As it was, we were just thankful to have this place open at a late hour. When we walked in, it sure looked like the staff was getting ready to hang up their dish towels and bounce. Fair enough, it was Sunday night. A guy who appeared to be the boss came out and made sure we had the menus and all, then resumed some kind of meeting he was having with the workers. Things seemed pretty loosey goosey, with staff in some phase of training. The menu was horrendously overpriced, with a plain, smallish burger without fries running $ 13 and prices easily breaking $ 20 if you’d like something on it.(For perspective, an In ‘N’ Out double Animal Style is like $ 3.50). GF got the veggie burger, which she didn’t mind. We split an overpriced order of fries. Home is across the street so we got takeout and the food was still in good condition. My burger was not bad, but mediocre for the price(though, honestly, no burger, not even Minetta’s, should ever exceed $ 20). I’m leaving what I consider a kind 3-star review, given that Mocha Burger was there to provide sustenance when I needed it. Leaving anything less would be like slamming someone who saves you from drowning because they didn’t come on a luxury boat. I don’t like to be unkind to local businesses, and don’t wish they any ill will, but I will be floored if Mocha Burger celebrates a 1 year anniversary next year.

Just don’t go here. $ 15 for a terrible salad that didn’t even include the ingredients listed on the menu $ 5 horrible iced tea Very LOUD and then take it up several MORE decibels when a patron has a birthday. They BLAST some birthday song and have the firework, blaster stick things. Overall it was a waste of over $ 100 and time with my boyfriend and another couple.

This place is AMAZING! I have been looking for a kosher place around here, since I just moved from LA, and I could not be happier. The food is delicious, great vibes. I definitely recommend this place whether you keep kosher or not.

A generous 2, given: — it took 41 mins for a medium-well* burger when they had no customers in the store(rather than the ETA10 – 35 on EAT24) — the Mocha Classic Burger $ 13.00(Make your own with mocha burger sauce. Grilled medium-well. Served with lettuce, tomato, pickle and vidalia.) + Crunch it Up – awful presentation, with the meat hiding beneath huge lettuce and onions… which I understand given the patty was overcooked & pretty flavorless that they tried to save with a huge spot of black pepper at the end, and ‘crunch it up’ meaning they toss a buncha chips in the box around the burger, not within it. *This should never be the default, and it shouldn’t be impossible to change the temp without adding a note.

I will preface my review by saying that I would like to consider myself as a burger«connoisseur» or at least I will travel far and long for a good burger. After all the hype on this page for Mocha Burger, I decided to go down there with a bunch of buddies. We wanted to watch the game last night and it was a treat to find out that they had TVs — something you don’t see in many burger joints. We each ordered burgers, BLT(Bacon and egg) and Funghi(caramelized mushroom and onion) as well as the wings, Disco fries, mint lemonade and Cajun fries. Overall our experience from the ambiance of the place to the delectable and heavenly taste of the food was outstanding. Definitely going back for more.
Wings — Tough to find good kosher wings in the city/other boroughs. We order the buffalo wings and they were phenomenal. A good crisp to meat on the bone ratio. The sauce wasn’t too spicy and had a good sweet after taste. There were so good that I order a to go to have for lunch today and it was even pretty good cold.
Burgers — I usually order my burger medium but forgot to mention that when they took my order. The burger was really delicious — a decadent medium-well patty gently placed on a moist bun followed by a bed of fresh tomatoes, lettuce, bacon and covered by an egg with a yolk that is ready to burst its yellow juiciness as soon as you pick it up. The meat must be premium because I felt completely satisfied after devouring the burger. Both of my buddies would agree that the burgers were unbelievable.
Disco Fries — this was very interesting. The last time I had poutine was in Montréal though they were at dairy places and had fake gravy as the sauce. The meat gravy and fake cheese combo really did the trick. The fries were crispy as you bit into them but also had a melt-in-your-mouth deliciousness. Definitely recommended. It is a big portion and is good for 3 – 4 people.
Mint Lemonade — simple but definitely a thirst quencher, comes in a mason jar.
Cajun Fries — their fries are wrinkle fries and these had a good spice to it.
Finally the people that worked there were very friendly. This is great for group and cant wait for them to add more items(and alcohol) to the menu.
