Good coffee. Nice little cafeteria with a good vibe in Harlem. Not to many options for breakfast though, specially not many healthy options. Will come back for sure though.

We were in New York for 8 days and we managed to stopped by The Monkey Cup three times. Their espresso drinks are delicious. From Vanilla latte to Iced Mocha. Super yummy. Their pastries are scrumptious from Spinach with Feta pastry to croissants. I love how friendly they are too. I am having Monkey Cup withdrawal. I want to go back to Harlem & do that walk to Monkey cup for some cups :).

Great little coffee shop right next to our apartment. Relaxed and unpretentious. The owners and staff are beyond friendly, and most importantly, the coffee is absolutely terrific.

Local owners, good coffee, great music, free unlimited wifi, and vegan pastries! Only reason I’m giving it 4⁄5 stars is because I got the chai latte and it was a little watery because it was loose leaf and wasn’t steeped for long enough. Adorable monkey latte art though!

Okay so I have a thing for coffee, particularly the soy cappuccinos and iced lattes. Even the cold brew is delicious, actually quite strong despite the mild flavor. The lavender tea is delicious considering its not coffee lol. They recently added vegan treats a few weeks ago, and have them available on weekends only. The vegan brownie will be the death of me, moist with chocolate chips and perfectly balanced. I’m very pleased Monkey Cup found its way to this neighborhood that’s for sure!

Monkey Cup is among the newcomers to the neighborhood, and we are glad to have ‘em! There is minimal seating here, which is okay because their coffee is no joke, son. You wouldn’t be able to sit still after a cup of their slow-drip Joe. Their latte art is adorable, as is the décor. The owner is very nice and is always open to listening to her customers and accommodate any special requests she can.

Good prices, really good coffee. The place is small but a nice location between the other popular cafes in the neighborhood. The owners are quirky but affable. I recommend their iced latte: definitely more nutty and less acidic than the norm. And I can get one after 7PM, so I’m happy.

Fun cool atmosphere served by a great local staff that cares about coffee & teas and they serve my favorites — Soy Hot Chocolate & Apple Pie Pastry. It’s perfect for a quick escape from NYC — grab a snack and drop in – I’ll be back for more. They have a rewards ticket for a free cup — and the real bonus is you’re supporting small local businesses when you visit.

Shockingly surprised by this mini spot! Right here in my old neighborhood and it tastes amazing. I had the cortadito with half and half cream. I’m slowly exploring coffee and have open attitude towards tasting beverages. The cortadito is equal parts espresso to milk or cream. No sugar, but tastes fine without it. The cream really brings out the deep coffee flavor, but also softens the finish. I say go for it and try them out! Plus she drew a monkey in the cup, that’s worth the trip in my opinion.

Seriously!!! Best coffee/tea brewing since never in this area. I can’t even fathom anyone writing a bad review. If you need a quick pastry and a cup of great Tea/coffee –this is the spot.

Great coffee, great people, and a great cozy little shop. So happy this coffee shop is in the neighborhood, it always brightens my day to get a little monkey on top of my latte.

There are coffee places with the requisite espresso machine that can be operated by trained monkeys – that’s First Mate of the Pequod and his ilk – and then there are places run by people clearly interested in coffee. Monkey Cup is in the second category. Cappuccino and espressos are pulled with care and attention to detail. They have cold brew(Kyoto monkey) and good pastries. Good music in the background. Wooden seats and benches and the diminutive size of the space discourages lingering. But these are slight faults. The only other drawbacks are the location and the name of the shop is a bit of a blunder.

Small space. Good coffee. Our barista was a tall, kind Italian coffee enthusiast. Grab a Java to go.

Monkey Cup was quite a charming little coffee shop staffed by delightful people eager to please. When you walk in, look up. The ceiling is covered in ivy or some sort of vine-like plant that is really, really cool. The coffee itself was delicious, and the assortment of pastries we picked up were all super yummy, especially the guava cream cheese one. The couple who was behind the counter were wonderful… so pleasant, so eager to help us. The one complaint I guess I have is that it took a really long time for us to get four coffees. I don’t know if they brew every cup to order, or if we just came late enough in the day that they didn’t have a lot on hand. But I tried not to be too cranky about it because otherwise this was a really lovely little business.

Café looks great on entry but its tiny with three bar stools and two tiny tables. The tables are so close to the bar stools that its barely possible for more than one person to sit and certainly everyone would have to move in order to occupy the furtherest two stools from the door. I had no where to sit at 12.20 in the afternoon with only 5 people in the café so left. Wouldn’t bother again as really its way too small. Chairs looked uncomfortable. Went to the Chipped Cup on Broadway 5 minutes away. Better service, lovely basement café, more choice of croissants and Danish pastries and delicious coffee served in china cups.

I don’t drink coffee but I go to the Monkey Cup to meet with a friend who does. I’ve noticed that the dude who works there is enthusiastic and knowledgeable about coffee. He also is consistent in the nice way he treats people. Hence, five stars.

These people treat coffee like art! From the timing to the measurement, they have the science behind a perfect cup of coffee down to a tee. The staff hand crafted the«Monkey Drip»(their plain hot coffee) in front of me, and it was amazing by itself without sugar or cream. I got a book from the public library down the block, and enjoyed the cup of coffee while I read. The coffee was $ 2.89 after tax. The overall experience? Priceless :) Highly recommended!

So I stumbled upon this little spot in Harlem. I can’t say enough good things about it. First, I’m a bit of a coffee snob. So I have high standards. They more then lived up to them. They do an amazing pour over coffee, which is my go to. In addition, the cappuccinos and lattes are exceptional. Milk foamed perfectly, and the espresso pulled properly. For ice coffee they have two kinds. The normal kind, and a special kind that is brewed with a Japanese technique. Really strong, but delicious. They also have tea. They do a really good rooibos latte. They have a selection of delicious pastries. I recommend the guava and cream cheese one. Finally the owner and staff are fantastic. They are knowledgeable and accommodating. They really give the place a very neighborhood coffee shop feel. If you are in Harlem, definitely go here for coffee!

Hands down, best coffee in the area. They do a custom pour over of their selective beans and really care about the quality of each cup. Friendly staff, always excited about the new bean selection. If you are a coffee connoisseur you need to check it out(the current Ethiopian pour is particularly flavor full)

Gosh, I hope these reviews don’t bring the college students who can’t respect a coffee shop ambiance. The monkey cup is exactly what new cafes in changing neighborhoods are supposed to be… an Inclusion and catering to new comers and long time residents, those who can afford a cup of coffee and those who repeatedly come in for a cup of ice. Seeing the owner’s generosity and kindness is really heartwarming. And the same customers always come here. Not to stay, but to pick up their coffee and go about their business. I hope the young bro’s, hipsters, and a obnoxious college students don’t ruin it. The coffee is good. But how it operates and treats ALL people who enter the door is just inspiring.

Take a cozy space, decorate rustically, fill with excellent coffee and fluffy pastries, add perfectly inoffensive plays list and top with two kind and charming owners and you will get the monkey cup. I adore this neighborhood spot. Enjoy it!

I found this little gem on my way to the post office and I have to say, I’m truly impressed. Leo the barrister was very courteous and he let me sample a house blend. He then made me a fantastical cup of coffee with a face of a monkey(he used chocolate). I will definitely come back again.

I’m excited that the area around my job is slowly getting more and more coffee and food options. The Monkey Cup is the newest addition to the neighborhood. I enjoyed the cold brews that I sampled during my most recent visit. They offered me small tastes of the two varieties they had which I thought was a nice touch. I came once in the mid afternoon and was given lukewarm coffee. I think this was just an unfortunate moment in timing. I asked for it to be heated but it just ended up tasting mettalic. Maybe avoid hot coffee during off peak hours. One reviewer didnt like the fact that they couldnt add their own milk. I actually agree with the the policy of the coffee shop because the interior of the restaurant is extremely hot. I think leaving milk out in this environment, even in a thermos, would be dangerous. It’s just simply not worth the risk and I think they made the right choice. This though IS a problem. On the 3 occasions I visited, Monkey Cup has been ridiculously warm. I think there are ventilation issues and the heat from the espresso machine is heating the rom. This also may become a positive in the winter. Regardless still super happy about the quality of the coffee and care with which they run their shop. Will be back again despite the heat.

I really admire coffee. It is my daily companion and I might be heartbroken if we do not interact daily. The Hamilton Height’s area or West Harlem is becoming a little bit of a coffee shop Mecca. There are so many decent shops to choose from these days. I was strolling from the gym and decided to stop in to The Monkey Cup, which turned out to be a good choice. The Good: Monkey Cup has a variety of solid coffee offerings. The staff is knowledgeable about origins, brewing methods from pour over to Kyoto. Savory pastries on deck Friendly and knowledgeable staff Chill décor, which is small and intimate. I left with a smile on my face and those who know me know I smile as much as Kanye.

Welcome to the Monkey Cup! This small café offers tasty pastries including quiche, borek, croissants muffins and more. The owners are passionate about coffee and it shows. The service is friendly and warm. Excellent espresso and some of the iced drinks use a special Japanese drip machine all make coffee from small farms — delicious! Say hi to Alfredo and Laura. I had a wonderful goat cheese and tomato quiche and for a moment I thought I was downtown, without the crowds and insanity of course.

I am still trying to understand how no one has reviewed this marvelous place yet! I am writing this review as I am sitting here and enjoying an iced mocha with almond milk and mixed berry muffin. I have been waiting for this establishment to open for sometime and stalking their Instagram for a grand opening date. The décor is amazing and they have completely transformed this small space into a beautiful and inviting coffee haven. Immediately when I entered into the coffee shop I was welcomed. They have a couple of tables inside and a bar that sits along the window. They have a pretty simple menu which I love because I truly just love coffee minus all the syrups and random add in that some other place add in and mask the true taste of a good coffeebean. The baristas(which I believe are the owners as well) explained to me how they rotate the coffee beans almost each day. They are both from Venezuela and super sweet. They gave me a sample of the Kyotomonkey cold brew coffee and it was so refreshing. OMG. It is a must try My coffee was perfect and my mixed berry muffin was delicious and moist. Monkey Cup you have a new customer and Starbucks you have some competition in Harlem because they wonderful people know their coffee-beans!
