Absolutely the best bike shop in NYC. I’ve only bought a few things but they’ve always treated me very very well. I can’t tell you how happy I am to finally find a place that’s inexpensive, friendly and competent. Much better than anything you’d find on Lafayette street.

However, these guys were super welcoming and they were knowledgable about bicycles & everything in their shop. I asked questions here and there about their own custom bikes and frames. I eye-​shopped around and their prices for drop bars, grips, pedals, etc. were decent. Only about $ 5-​$ 10 more from buying directly from the source. Which isn’t terrible, considering their store location and such. I’d come here IF I WERE IN THE NEIGHBORHOOD for parts, and their custom track frames and such are nice and seem sturdy and reliable.

Great staff and nice merchandise. I went here during Thanksgiving weekend and they had some pretty good sales as well. Staff was very personable and even gave me a deal on a hoodie. Highly recommend this place for the bikes as well!

Walked in after going working down the list of bicycle shops that Unilocal provided. Me and my brother were in the market for some sleek, simple bikes that would be used for our commutes and weekend rides and were really surprised at the presentation of this shop.
Stephen, the man who helped us out, was very friendly and so helpful.
We designed our bikes on their iPad that they had set up and were so pleased with the color options and final design. When Stephen walked us through the entire process, It never felt like he was upselling but only kept our best interests in mind. I can only imagine the other members of the staff are like him.
After purchase, he said he’d do his best to have both bikes (me and my brother’s) built and ready for pick up later that day but I wasn’t banking too much on it because I understood it takes time. However, I was dying to get my hands on the bike as early as possible and wished very much that the bike would indeed be ready that day.
Few hours later, at home, I got a phone call saying both bikes are ready for pick up and so my brother and I rushed there as fast as the tanky CitiBikes can go. Upon arrival, the bikes looked better in person and Stephen and another member of the staff helped us install the lights as well as taught us how to use the U-​locks and disconnect the U-​lock mount if we wanted.
TL;DR — Great looking and great riding bike (smooth!). Great price. Excellent, friendly staff. Oh yeah, and the store only played hip hop music. I’m convinced it’s the best bike shop in the city.

This place is great! Walked in at about closing to order my bike before I left for home and they were super accommodating. So unpretentious and laid back which made the experience of buying a bike a lot easier. When I came to pick it up, due a mix up in frame colour (which they immediately resolved) they gladly put my bike together on short notice! Excellent customer service, oh and the bike is great too!

Super helpful staff, they really do go above and beyond to customize their bikes to your liking. It’s really a laid back staff that really know their stuff, I really could not recommed this place enough.

Have your bike shipped if needed, the option is available. While you’re here, check out their apparel line — from trendy tees, hats in various styles, to reflective jackets.
The staff here are friendly, very helpful, and quite knowledgeable. I highly recommend MSC for all your fixed gear needs as well.

I’ve known this store when they first started off as Strada. They were the only bike shop I knew that customized bikes in different colors according to ur liking. My bf took me there to check out the bikes and to make sure i even fit the bikes (i’m pretty short. 5 ft). I chose out my colors (pink, purple and white) and they took down the info. My bike was ready the next day for pick up! The bike was beautiful and i liked it so much that i even took it with me to the TD five borough bike tour!!! At the tour, many people stopped me to compliment on my bike and asked me where i got it! If ure tryna look for a bike and want to customize it fully to ur liking, MSC Customs is the place to be!!!

They are amazing, and the bikes are even better. I live in Arizona and was all I knew is I wanted a fixie. More than likely cause I watched Premium Rush.
I called them a couple of different times for various information cause buying online is scary when you are dropping some serious cash. But after the reviews, their excellent customer service and ability to speak to someone who doesn’t know much, I would say this is the place to go.
They built my bike super fast, stayed in constant (but not overwhelming) communication. Once the bike got here, I just had to piece it together and wow. I have put around 40 miles (not a lot, but for a beginner in the winter it is) in a week.
Thank you so much, I will be referring everyone I know to you guys. I have been getting nonstop compliments on my bike and it is a blast to ride.

Today was my first time walking into the actual store than just playing around customizing the bikes on their website. The colors look much richer in person and there is so much more to see in the store. I recommend going into the store and checking out bikes rather than online. The guys are pretty cool, knowledgeable and helpful. Im definitely going back to purchase a bike and more shit for the love of my future bike.

These guys are very helpful and are not pushy. Very cool place to spend your money, good feeling after walking out the store with your purchase. Check them out ASAP.

Honestly, most bike shops in NYC suck. Staffed by jerks who won’t give you the time of day if they know what they’re doing and shoddy repairs if they don’t. I’ve been to several shops over the years and have never had an excellent experience. Until Strada. I had decided to sell my hybrid and make the leap to a single speed bike for commuting purposes. Wanted somewhere local to go get the bike but I didn’t want to pay a thousand bucks. Found Strada via good ol’ google and went down there. They didn’t have some of the things I would have liked due to it being the end of summer (sad face over not getting those aqua rims!) BUT they were so nice and answered all of my questions and overall just treated me well that I was still completely satisfied when I left there.

I’ve been looking to purchase a track bike for weeks. I’ve been on bike forums, called local bike shops, talked to people on the street, etc. It feels like I’ve been riding in circles looking for something that is right for me.
A couple local bike shops tried to push me to buy what they had in stock. They were somewhat friendly but overall it seemed like they just wanted to make a sell! I wasn’t really feelin’ it.
It was until I talked to someone on the street who had a Strada custom brand bike. He was extremely friendly and answered any question I fired at him. I told him everyone online was pushing me to get bike X or bike Y and he said, «It’s only a bike, get what you feel comfortable on!» He then offered for me to take a spin on his bike. Now I’m a BIG guy. 6’3, 285 lbs. I was worried the rims or tires wouldn’t hold up but he assured me it would be all good. I jumped on the bike, took it for a spin and it felt GREAT. It was that night that I went online to check out what the heck Strada bikes were all about.
Their website is pretty informative and they had a great «build a bike» feature. You got to customize it from the ground up basically with whatever color you wanted. It’s almost too customizable as I was left scratching my head with what color I wanted, haha. The options are endless to be honest.
I still wasn’t sold as I was convinced from online forums I needed a Kilo TT or something similar but I decided what the heck. I gave the Strada bike store a call and told them my situation. I mentioned I’m a beginner, I’m a huge guy looking for a glide gear/​fixed gear bike and I want something that will hold my weight. I spoke to the guy (Steven) on the phone for a good 10 minutes and he was not only friendly but super informative. Much friendlier and informative than the other local bike shops that I talked to.
Steven told me whenever I’d like to stop in and check out their selection and chat. I hopped on a train and took a visit to the store. I introduced myself as the guy that called in earlier and Steven immediate greeted me in a friendly manner and showed me around the shop. BTW, the shop is awesome. It’s like the «APPLE STORE» of bike shops. Clean, not cluttered and everything has a place.
Steven grabbed a bike off the wall and had me stand over the frame to get my sizing. He gave me an entire run down of what everything was.
The one thing I really like is that they were never forceful that I should purchase a bike unlike other shops. Steven actually told me if I wouldn’t mind waiting a few weeks they are getting some new color options in stock like a «Flat Black» frame that looked pretty awesome. Even though my original intention was to buy a black bike I started eyeing up the pearl white frame. It looked super nice. I told Steven that I think I’m sold on the white frame. We then went over to the counter and he grabbed an ipad and we built out the rest of the bike to my liking. I went with a white frame, white chain and everything else I blacked out. I told him that’s the bike that I want. I thought we were going to have to order it and they would ship it to the store but they had everything in stock and he had that sucker built within the hour.
Once they had the bike built they had me sit on it so they could fine tune it and I was good to go. The next big hurdle was this is my first time riding a bike in NYC. Now that I had my bike built I had to get it home. The only way to do that in my mind was for me to ride it. At this time there were about 3 or 4 guys in the shop who were equally friendly. They were giving me options on the route I could take to ride from Chinatown to Queens. Overall the one guy said, «you know what man, just wing it! You should just go out and ride.»
That’s exactly what I did. I ended up riding 5 miles from the bike shop to my apartment in Queens. It was definitely a rush! Took me about an hour since I got lost for 15 minutes… I had a blast though!
Steven and all the other dudes at Strata. Thanks for the great experience, thanks for not being forceful and pushing me to buy a bike just to make a sell and thank you for all the information on lights, locks, helmets and everything else.
I’ll be back to pick up some odds and ends definitely.
In closing, is this the best bike on the market? Who knows, who cares. I can honestly say I’m 100% happy with my purchase, it holds my weight, it looks great and I had a blast riding it in insane rush hour traffic in NYC.

This bike rides beautifully. My wheels are different from the ones that come with the bike (I think I got the deep-v’s instead? Or the non-deep-v’s? Whatever, the rims are thinner) and apparently they’re smoother than the other wheels. Only had trouble maneuvering the bike, but that’s probably because I’m used to cruisers. The only disappointment I had was when I asked the shop for a box a couple of weeks later and they wanted to charge $ 15 when every other bike shop gives theirs away for free.

Have been contemplating getting a bike for a while and have been playing around on their website making the bikes of my dreams when I found out they opened up a store on Mott Street in Chinatown and decided to check them out today.
The store is AWESOME. Fun, bright and modern, the store has a great display of the different options. You already feel cooler just being there. The guys there are really friendly and no bs. I’m not a pro or avid biker by any means, just someone who wants to pick up a new hobby and they were totally willing to entertain all my silly questions. Some other stores can be intimidating when everyone acts like a bike expert and you clearly are not, but not at Strada. They’re happy to just share the knowledge.
If you’re ever in Chinatown, should definitely pop by and check out the store. They also run cool events like their recent scavenger hunt, so definitely keep up with them if you’re looking for something fun and different. Thanks Strada!

So sometime last year i picked up a bicycle and not only did i get a lot of looks from riding the bike, i was asked where i got it. I just recently found out they opened up a shop and so b/​c the weather is getting nice again, I decided to check it out.
The interior of their store was really cool — displaying alot of the different bikes they have and this time around they even have a new style of frame. I’m not even sure what to call it. They have a chic, urban look with some really cool displays and their logo on the walls. The store was busy it seems and had a real chill vibe there. While i stopped by to browse, someone was getting a new bike, while someone else was getting repairs or something.
So that’s what else you should know they told me that if anything goes wrong they’d be able to help me out and fix me up and get me going on the bike again. That’s good to know and their store looks really awesome!
Good Job Guys! I want to see more and more Strada Bikes out there! I love this bike!
