MyClean

Paid money to get my house cleaned. Didn’t even do a proper job the first time; threw away items that were clearly not trash, and broke a headphone extension line. Also did not clean microwave, floors were sticky, but still took the money.
Do your job. Why would you throw away something I placed in the sink?

I have been using myclean for the past half year or so and the last straws came off during the last two cleans.
For the majority of the time (except for the last clean), I used the same cleaner who did an okay job. Nothing spectacular. She would miss spots here and there, forget to dust or wipe something down. I am an relatively easy going and have low standards and let these items pass. Recently though, I felt she became complacent and careless as more mistakes were made as there was still hair all over the ground, dust everywhere, stove top wasn’t proper wiped and showers looked like they weren’t cleaned.
The biggest kicker came when I came home to the apartment and the door was NOT CLOSED AND THE STOVETOP WAS ON. The gas was running for over 8 hours and the entire apartment smelled like gas. It had set off the alarms and could have been a very dangerous situation.
I called myclean and they rectified the situation immediately by saying they would let the supervisor know and I would have a different cleaner and the next clean would be on the house. Reluctantly, I agreed.
This is the part where the review goes from bad to worse. I booked the appointment for an 9:30 and stayed home so I could meet the new cleaner and give her a tour of the apartment. around 10:20, the cleaner still has not come and I called myclean. They said they would send another cleaner and confirmed they would come at 12. This was a problem as I shifted my meetings to be home earlier in the morning and had to reshift my meetings to meet the new cleaner.
The new cleaner did a terrible job. Bed was not made. Clothes were folded sloppily. Socks were not paired up. Floor was not wiped for dust or hair. The list goes on but you get the point. I’m honestly not sure what she did other than the dishes.
After that clean — I will never use myclean again.

Rounding up to two stars from one because MyClean made things right with me from a customer service perspective. However, they have a real issue with their employee screening process and I think that others considering using them should know about my experience.
I have a regular housekeeper whom I love, but she was fully booked for the coming weeks and I needed someone on short notice (new job, long hours, wanted to make the place presentable for my fiancé who was coming home from a long business trip). I found a generous $ 50 coupon for MyClean, checked the mostly-​great reviews here, and decided to book them.
The cleaner arrived on time the next day and the first part of the clean was fine. I was home during this time, but in a different room. About 45 minutes into the clean, I left the apartment to take my dog for a walk. During the walk, I received a notification that motion was detected on my Nest security camera. I had literally JUST bought this camera and set it up days earlier, not to keep tabs on my cleaner but to spy on my dog running around while I’m at the aforementioned new job. Anyway, I had never gotten a push notification before and thought it was a little strange, since the cleaner was in a completely different area of my apartment than the camera when I left and stated she was working from one end to the other.
I checked the footage and was absolutely shocked to see what had happened as soon as I left the apartment. In the camera footage, the cleaner approached our liquor cabinet, looked around to make sure no one was watching, then took a huge swig directly from a bottle of vodka (lips to bottle!). She then turned, walks toward the bedroom to grab our Swiffer, and returned to chug from a SECOND, different bottle of vodka.
Once I saw the footage, I immediately returned home and asked the cleaner to leave my apartment. All while on speaker phone with my fiancé, because I was terrified she was very drunk and would try to retaliate in some way. She tried to claim that she doesn’t drink alcohol, and that she was simply wiping the bottles down. She repeatedly pressed me to show her the video, and interested to see her reaction, I showed her. She had no response and immediately packed her bags to leave. I was speechless, and told her that I hoped she got help for her problem.
The whole experience left me completely horrified and violated. I immediately called MyClean and spoke to a customer service rep, who actually laughed out loud when I told her what happened. I don’t think she was making light of things, just flabbergasted, and honestly I probably would have had the same reaction. She stopped payment on the pending cleaning fee and asked me to send in a written complaint and the video clip, which were immediately forwarded to Kenny, the COO.
Kenny responded quickly with an apology, let me know that the cleaner would be let go, and asked me to send a receipt for the liquor should I choose to replace it. The kicker to all of this was that the cleaner had drank from two extremely expensive bottles of vodka that my fiancé brought back from Russia – basically his prized possessions that he’s been nursing since the trip. That’s why they were on top of the cabinet instead of inside it. I managed to track the same vodka down at one of the two stores that sells it in NYC, placed an order, and Kenny immediately sent me a check for $ 210.
So, things are resolved. But none of that great customer service cancels out the feeling of being grossly violated in my own home. The whole experience broke me to tears, more than once. I felt awful that I put my trust in a company that employed someone that stole from us. I felt even worse that I let this person in my home, where she freely destroyed property that was so special to my fiancé. I feel awful knowing that this poor woman is suffering from alcoholism, and I feel awful thinking of all the other people she’s done this to without their knowledge. And I know none of it is «my fault.» But it still feels that way.

Tonja was awesome, my apt looked amazing, booked quickly and easily online, even found coupon code for 50% off. Good service.

They are a very well managed company with great staff and management.

My office has been using MyClean for over a year now and they are the BEST! Our cleaner, Morris is lovely, extremely detail oriented and a great communicator. He always communicates any abnormalities in the facility and goes above and beyond! Last week a staff member stayed late with a patient during the time when Morris typically completes the daily cleaning. He came back early the next morning to clean the room that was occupied to ensure that that person’s room was attended too. Unbelievable work ethic. He is also fantastic about reminding me when we are low on certain products (recycling bags etc.) that I might not notice in the day to day.
The leadership at MyClean is also wonderful. Kenny and Mike the CEO are extremely responsive and very dedicated to working with their clients to immediately handle any issues. The company also always lets us know if there will be a sub in the event that our regular cleaner, Morris, is unavailable. The company also reminds their clients of holidays to make arrangements for cleaning during those days if necessary.
I highly recommend them!

I’ve been using MyClean for about 2 years now, and I can’t imagine going with another cleaning service. My cleaners have always been fantastic — friendly, helpful, and have left my home in amazing condition. The quality is consistent, regardless of the person who arrives. I think this is the case because they hire direct, rather than contract like Handy or Task Rabbit. No question, this is much, much better.
Another fantastic thing about the cleaners is that you can have the same person consistently, so you know their style, they know your place, who you are, etc. It’s easy to leave feedback and see improvements when you want them to focus on a particular area.
With any service, there will be hiccups. One of the best parts about MyClean is that they’re incredibly diligent with their customer service. Their entire team has been friendly, and with any issue that has arisen, they’ve been 100% on top of it to make things right. That’s what keeps someone coming back!
I highly recommend using MyClean as your cleaning service! You won’t be disappointed.

Wilkey is super personable and it’s so refreshing to have such a hard-​working, trustworthy cleaner — especially since we have pets we are absolutely obsessed with.
Also, the customer service is incredible via email and on the phone.

Tracy S is the best!!! We were pleasantly surprised when she started coming when we first moved into our new place. She worked around the boxes and clutter to make sure every inch of the place was clean. Now that we are settling in she’s doing even more to make sure every single part of the place is sparkling clean. I wish I could give them 10 stars but five is as high as Unilocal goes. I highly recommend this service above any other service you will find in New York. Well worth the value, extremely professional, and extremely thorough. I had a really good experience with MyClean. It’s always scary to hire someone to come into your home and hope that they do a thorough job. The booking process is very simple, and I like that they provide additional services such as cleaning inside the fridge and cabinets (which we purchased).
Our cleaner was very friendly and respectful. However, it did seem to take a very long time, which I believe was a combination of a very thorough cleaning job (our 3 bedroom/​2 bathroom definitely needed a deep cleaning) and maybe a somewhat slow pace. She arrived at 9:50 and didn’t leave until 4:45. That was slightly inconvenient, but of course I’d rather that than someone who speeds through and doesn’t care to take their time. Also, I guess when you purchase the fridge cleaning, that really just means FRIDGE, and not the freezer section, because our freezer wasn’t cleaned. I kind of expected it to be done, especially since it’s so small, but not a huge deal. And there was dust left along the baseboard of one of the empty bedrooms.
Besides those minor things, the experience was well worth it, and I will definitely use MyClean’s services again in the future! Overall, great cleaning job!

I worked at my clean company for about 3 years and it was a great learning experience

We keep our place clean for the most part, we hire cleaning professionals to do get in the nocks and crannies and do deep cleaning. I’ve used MyClean on multiple occasions and would recommend them. The down side is that I’ve had a different person every time, I think scheduling regular cleanings and having the same person is the way to go to avoid a intro session every time. I’ve had about 4 or 5 cleanings, all were good, two were great.

MyClean has been very easy to use and reasonably priced. Of all the web-​based cleaning services I have used, I’ve had the best experience with MyClean. I also wanted to give a shout out to my cleaner Samantha, who is very friendly and thorough when she’s come to my house. I definitely recommend her.

I would never ever use this company again nor would I recommend them. They come and change their story when they get to your place. I purchased a get it clean and a keep it clean Groupon. Get it clean they only cleaned the bathroom and the floors sort of. The wood furniture wasn’t wiped, kitchen counter top was still dirty, the floors under the bed and along the molding weren’t mopped or swept, electronics weren’t wiped down and nothing was dusted. I had them come back after the first visit to correct this. They did the same thing and were not the most friendly. Disregard buying a mop, they won’t use it. They only use their swiffer and chemical cleaners. A one bedroom apartment should sparkle when it’s cleaned for 3 hours.

Great experience. Booked online and was able to get a time for the exact day and time I wanted. The cleaner, Yvette, was on time, friendly, and did a great job.
I usually clean the place myself, but had been busy and kept putting it off for a couple of months, until it needed a cleaning… badly. Yvette took her time, refusing to leave anything undone, brought the bathroom back from hell, and did well with the rest of the apartment too. She even cleaned the behind the oven knobs, the windows, other places I’m way too lazy to do. She even dusted my shoes.
Anyway, I totally recommend their services. Yvette was great, their prices were fair, ease of booking and punctuality were flawless. Overall, satisfied!

MyClean is awesome. Our cleaner — Tricialee is professional, extremely hardworking, and friendly!!! MyClean has provided a consistently excellent experience, unlike some prior experiences.
Their website is easy to use; their customer service is excellent; their cleaners are stupendous; and they charge flat rates.

I’m lucky/​privileged enough that I’ve been able to try out different cleaning services during my years in NYC.
I initially used Exec, which was eventually merged into Handybook, which eventually turned into Handy. I liked Exec, but I hated Handy. They charged per hour, and their website estimated how many hours it’d take based on your dwelling size. As a result, they never completely finished cleaning my apartment so I would always come home to garbage bags by the door or some rooms that weren’t even touched. But I mean, I get it. The cleaners were 1099 contractors and if I was like them and didn’t have any benefits/​etc I wouldn’t care about the quality of my work either.
After my third bad experience in a row with Handy (including a no-​show that they refused to refund me for until I personally reached out to their CEO!!) I stopped hiring cleaners for a few months, then I found MyClean. I love MyClean. Their cleaners aren’t contractors, they’re full time employees, which is honestly huge for me. I’ve had the same cleaner, Donna, every other week for just under a year and she’s been amazing. A couple times I had other cleaners due to random issues, and they were all fantastic too. I would say I had around a 50% success rate with other cleaning companies in the last 5 years, and a 90% (at least) with MyClean.
I’m moving out of state very soon and I’m actively trying to find a company like MyClean where I’m moving to. I never wanted an industry-​disruptive cleaning service, I wanted a cleaning service that actually cares about what they do, and from my experience that’s definitely MyClean.
I should also mention that in the last year there were some minor hiccups, but all were resolved immediately and without me having to use connections to personally annoy an executive at the company.

I had hoped against hope that I would be one of the few lucky folks to have a good experience from the getgo, but unfortunately not. We booked our «Get It Clean» using a Groupon, which was supposedly 4 hours of deep cleaning. Our cleaner arrived 15 mins early for our 11am appointment (good) and then asked my husband if she needed to mop. What? Okay, we don’t have a mop, but a wet swiffering is supposed to be included, right? I start getting a bad feeling. Then he tells her he’s going to leave and come back around 3pm, and she says she has to be somewhere else by 1:30. Okaaaay. He left her a gratuity, since he wasn’t going to be back by then, but I really wish we could take it back.
I have long hair that sheds all over the place so it’s pretty obvious when someone hasn’t done a good cleaning job. In fact, it was so bad that my husband vacuumed the night before the cleaner came just to get the worst of it out of the way. Maybe I should’ve tipped him since he did the work. There’s hair everywhere, including a big clump dead smack in the middle of the kitchen floor. Maybe when he said «yes, please mop», she heard «don’t even bother vacuuming.» One countertop clearly wasn’t touched at all (see hair). Maybe half the place had been dusted and it doesn’t look like the kitchen sink was cleaned at all. The bathroom tile looks like maybe a damp sponge was passed over it. The bed wasn’t made and the top of the refrigerator? Ha. There is no sign of the infamous «50 point checklist», probably because she couldn’t have checked off more than a couple of items.
The reviews show this situation time and time again, and I was hesitant to book this service because I’d seen it, but I figured their rating is still 4.5 stars, there must be some customers that are satisfied off the bat. Now I realize that Unilocal calculates their stars by overwriting the 1 star reviews that get updated instead of averaging them in. I don’t think 4.5 stars is at all an accurate rating when so many people initially have bad experiences.
I have company arriving tomorrow and I’ll have about an hour after work to reclean all this myself. AND WE TIPPED HER! I’m furious.

This is an update for my review on 11÷4÷2015. Michael reached out to me directly to address some of the concerns I had highlighted in my previous review. He handled everything with professionalism and was very cordial throughout the entire process.
He scheduled for Donna (the cleaning professional we had requested for our November clean) to come back to our apartment and address the areas that were missed previously. Donna redid our entire apartment and left it spotless. We even left her a note with the areas that we wanted her to address, but she exceeded our expectations and did more than we asked for.
I would definitely keep using myclean for future cleaning services. They changed my experience all around and are definitely a company that wants every one of their clients to be happy and satisfied.

Ok, another updated review here. I struggled between giving them 3 stars or 4 — and that struggle had nothing to do with my latest cleaner Jessica, she’s been great and the reason I bumped the review up to a 4. I struggled because the first cleaning was so bad… and I find it annoying to hear how frequently that’s been happening with this company… but that they have 4.5 stars overall on here.
What I can say is that customer service did kick in immediately after that first bad cleaning, Kenny helped setup a free cleaning and he even kept in touch after that second re-​cleaning to make sure my next cleaning (I had bought a groupon worth 2 cleanings) was booked. I think it’s great that they fixed their initial mess up (and that does say a lot about them b/​c other companies might not do that)…but my biggest question is why can’t they seem to consistently get it right the first time around? I wish they had better quality control when choosing cleaners and better training and standards of how to clean so they wouldn’t have to spend so much time fixing bad cleanings.
Again, thumbs up for making things better and sending a better cleaner the second time around.
