Super good food! Best sandwich I’ve had in a long time. I got the avocado, egg and arugula sandwich and it was amazing! And the onion bagel, also really good. I would totally recommend.

So… I really love Native Bean and it’s food… BUT…they absolutely lack attention to detail! The fresh bagels and pastries are so good. The fresh juice and diverse drinks they have are awesome. Also, the espresso is delightful! It’s strong and tastes absolutely rich. The men that work here are lovely. They are very nice and always smiling. If you stay they bring your food to the table and if you get it delivered the guys who drop it off are always polite and happy. No doubt, I love this place but it’s hard to turn my head away from the mistakes they often make. It’s the little things like asking for something iced, asking for it toasted, Splenda instead of sugar… and somehow it seems like these things are always miscommunicated or simply ignored. Anyway, it’s a great place to have brunch or breakfast but make sure your order is clear. 4 stars for great food and great baristas and chefs

The staff is super friendly. I was here about a month and it was pretty empty, so you can tell this place is picking up. The banana walnut muffin is great.

I wanted to like this place, but THEREWAS A COCKROACHCRAWLINGONTHEBAGELSINTHEDISPLAYCASE. I should have said something but my wife was so disgusted we had to leave. This was on March 16th, 2015. Total bummer (2 stars because the cream cheese and toppings looked nice in the window until we noticed our little friends)

Although the café is quite small, my friends and I were able to find a seat at around 11:30AM on a Sunday. It is more of a fast casual place, so if you’re looking for a sit-down brunch place like Café Orlin, this is not it. I had the turkey, avocado, and basil with horseradish mayo($ 7.99) on an everything bagel, and it was amazing! Definitely going to try to make one of these myself now.

Really nice, genuine staff, good food, great egg sandwich. Great longstanding, local place. Lighting is a little too bright in the new location, and everything is overpriced for some reason. Even a banana is 75 cents, and getting a bagel or an egg sandwich and a coffee costs more than it should for such basic foods. They’d probably make more money in the long run if they lowered their prices on the basics.

First experience: 2 stars– First time I went they messed up our order and the person’s order in front of us(siiiigh, why I am I so unlucky with these shops?). We ordered 2 small coffees, #1 bagel, bagel with lox and the price came out to be around $ 23(we learned the second time we came, we were overcharged). Good thing I checked our bag as we walked out, since I realized there was only one coffee inside and when we went back and told the people they realized that they messed up our order and the girl’s order in front of us who already left the store. Second experience: 4 stars– Today, I went again and finally everything went seamlessly! We ordered the #1 bagel with lox($ 9), tomato, onion, and cream cheese, another bagel with lox(roughly $ 4), and 2 small coffees for $ 18. The people who work in the store are incredibly friendly. Personally I like Native Bean more than Heaven’s(But I like Heaven’s coffee) Every time I’ve been there, the place is relatively busy, but not completely chaotic, and there are people quietly chatting at one of the many tables. You can also get hot foods too like omelettes, but I’ve always just gotten their bagels. *Tip: Double check your orders if you are getting something to-go and also double check the prices of your food to make sure they charge the correct amount. *Cash Only

The true local bagel place favorite! Native bean offers all your breakfast favorites and more all served from the happiest and friendliest staff ever. When you walk into this cozy eccentric shop you notice it has truce character and is different than your typical bagel place. I stick with my typical bagel and cream cheese which are both always very good and fresh. The coffee here is also delicious which brings an added plus to this place. If you ever live in the area or are stomping through early morning grab a bagel and coffee and head over to thompkins square park to relax with friends and watch the dogs in the dog park. In short: — Friendly Staff — Great Fresh Food — Local Favorite — Good Coffee — fair priced

I’m currently sitting in my bedroom naked, starving, ashamed, hungover and impatiently waiting for Native Bean to arrive. I consistently make the mistake of ordering seamless from Native Bean which is never a good idea. They take FOREVER. However, the only reason I continue to order is because their food is SOGOOD. Without question, this place is serving 5 star quality food. Whether it’s the perfectly toasted ciabatta bread on my egg sandwich or their fluffy avocado and swiss cheese omelette, Native Bean is just killin’ the game. With that being said, I think I’ll have a good cry and if this is the last review I ever write, you’ll know I died of starvation waiting for Native Bean. Don’t kill me, Native Bean. Please.

I’m a little confused as to how this place has good reviews. First off, they had a child working the grill, which seemed very odd. The man who took my order mumbled the whole time and didn’t really understand what I was asking. After I finally got my lattes(I think he forgot about them as he was making them), I asked for a little bit of soy milk and he poured steamed milk in my drink instead. Tried to drink the coffee and it tasted awful. Don’t waste your time if you want coffee — though the food looked decent.

I had a few minutes to kill before my hair appointment, so I popped into this place for a coffee based on the great Unilocal reviews. This place IS worthy of a five star rating. I ordered a regular coffee with almond milk. Without requesting it, the guy behind bar steamed the almond milk before he put it in my coffee. It tasted fantastic(better than half of the almond milk lattes I’ve had around the city). Best part, though, was that it was ONLY $ 1.75! No up-charge for almond milk either! Check these guys out! FYI — cash only.

Solid NY bagels, crusty outside and soft on the inside, lots of choices. Tofu scallion cream cheese is really good and they do not skimp on the spread! I hate when places spread cream cheese on bagels like it’s butter; this place does not do that! I order from here maybe twice a week and I am always happy with the service and the food, and the delivery service is pretty much always on time, and even early occasionally.

this place really is as good as the reviews say! i ordered here delivery through seamless — the delivery arrived in an hour its only 5 – 6 blocks away from me so i wish i could’ve got here earlier but i did order during prime time breakfast/brunch hours on a Sunday so its understandable. I very much enjoyed the bacon egg n cheese on everything bagel. The bagel arrived so soft and warm it was absolutely delicious! I will definitely try more stuff here!

This place is great and the breakfast sandwiches are really reasonably priced. They make great bagels! 4 stars because I still don’t understand how places can continue to be cash only in the age of Venmo, PayPal, etc. Why must it be so difficult to exchange money? Especially when every time that I’ve been, the ATM is broken. Otherwise, the staff is really nice and the service is quick.

Native Bean is hands down the best local coffee shop in town. High quality, fresh food and exceptionally delicious coffee. My favorite breakfast order is their Lox sandwich with cream cheese, onion, tomato, and capers on a toasted whole wheat everything bagel– SO yummy! Besides all the great food and coffee options they have made-to-order juices and other great beverage options. Best part about Native Bean though is the wonderfully friendly, kind people who work there. A must visit the next time you’re in the neighborhood!

Great coffee, awesome spot. About a million times better than Starbucks and not a corporate spot. The other thing I like about this coffee shop is that it that it isnt completely filled with hipsters wearing skinny jeans and lenseless reading glasses, holding up a Hemingway novel that they will never read trying to appear relevant while flipping the same page back and forth while listening to arcade fire on their iPhone.

New Place! Same Face! Ibrahim(Sounds like Abraham), Iclriss and new partner Nester moved one block over from 50 Avenue A to this new location. Bagels and fillings are the same, Coffee the same, even the tables. The significant difference is the lighting, elbow room(not so many tables but more space per tab located) & front façade during the summer time. No more open canopy, so dog walks in area beware. they upgraded the size of the grill for hot breakfast. Stay away from the Moscow bagel and the chocolate croissant, sweet on the lips, you’ll get thick in your hips.
