We used to LOVELOVELOVE this place! The food was fabulous and cheap. The soup dumplings were to die for. Even our friend, originally from Hong Kong and who now lives in L.A., loved it. We later learned that he used to come here every week for lunch when he lived in NY before we knew him! But sadly, all good things must pass. It was sold to new owners, and it is just not the same. We will have to find another replacement, and we’re very sad about it. We will try Joe’s Shanghai, but I have a feeling it won’t be as good as the original Nice Green Bo. But hopefully it will be better than the one now. The food was quite mediocre. Though, to be fair, we might have been in shock… realizing that the whole place had changed.

Talk about a hidden gem served with a side of sodium. Green Bo is a tiny restaurant nestled in Chinatown with a capacity to seat less than 40. This was the best money I ever spent by far on hot and sour soup, soup dumplings, pork fried dumplings, scallion pancakes, a side of spinach and hot tea. This was enough to feed 2 so I split it all with a friend. The whole meal cost us less than $ 35. Don’t expect the nicest décor or the waitstaff to remember you(even if you go every day), but you will always get consistently delicious food. I was thirsty for the entire day afterwards but I would go back again and again.

They are no longer just«nice» they are«deluxe!» Don’t let the somewhat shady outside fool you: all of the raving newspaper reviews on the front window should have you convinced. But if not, simply try a taste of their delicious food! We ordered veggie dumplings, chicken chow fun, and veggie lo mein; all were large portions and very cheaply priced. This hole-in-the-wall place will be hard to beat!

Deliciously prepared dishes and friendly wait staff. Always a good experience. The place is small and only about 40 can eat at a time. But a good meal is what you will have.

It’s a classic Chinatown mom and pop, having been at the same location under three different names(so a local told me). Be ready for efficient and slightly impersonal service, food coming out in weird cadence and basic décor. Ok we good with all this? Strap in and let’s go for a ride. Their XLB is fabulous. It ain’t DTF but definitely one of the better I’ve had in awhile. We also went with pan fried buns(ok), scallion pancakes(yes please) and some Shanghainese noodles(reorder ASAP). I would love to come back for more their steamed buns — suspect they’ll be winners. You know what else is super duper cool? Three of us, super full, walked out with a $ 23 bill. The two ice creams we got across the road cost about the same. Can’t go wrong

Quite good, not the best in the neighborhood though The food was ok but not that tasty. A bit too gross and fat. The staff is friendly.

My fav Chinese restaurant, which I’ve been dining at for almost 20 years, has been sold — new owners. New wait staff. And to my dismay the food is also not the same. Soup dumplings, once steamed over cabbage has been replaced with paper. Dumpling skin is much thinner and not as stuffed. Eggplant with Garlic sauce has been altered. Just not what it was, which was better. Oh and the all time best yellow tail with seaweed — like others have said have been modified. Less fish, more batter, not as tasty. I could cry.

Delicious and cheap. We went in with a party of 6 and was lucky enough to get a table right away. The soup dumping are good and cheap! The crab ones come with crab meat right on top! The pork chop noodle soup was also delicious. The pork chop had nice amount of 5 spice powder and was nice and juicy.

Food here is really good! all the dishes we ordered were really tasty but I was lucky enough to go with someone who knows whats good here. Don’t let the interior detour you as its easy to look past it once you’ve tried the food.(other wise its a little dirty looking) Would recommend this place!

This is my go to spot for those classic Chinese style braised beef tendons. I just had it again, and the taste is not as good as in the past, but it is still one of the best all over NYC. I have had this dish in so many places and this is still my favorite even though the taste is a little off than before. The meat is soft and has a little pinch of a spice. If they had more spice into it, I think it will be amazing.

Came here because the initial place we wanted to have soup dumpling was closed in observation of lunar new year. The reviews said this place was good for the soup dumplings, and I have to question why others reviewed so highly of them. They were okay, we’ve had better and honestly the service was pretty bad. No plans in returning to this place.

4 stars for seriously one of the cheapest flavorful meals in Manhattan with the best soup dumplings you will ever get. We have been coming here for years Hypes: — I’m not one to even comment on price, but this is CHEAP(26 bucks for our whole meal of 4 dishes and a coke) — food comes out super hot and super fast — you have to get scallion pancakes — if you want to try a traditional chinese dish not found in traditional Chinese restaurants, order the rice cakes with preserved cabbage and shredded pork. I love it. — General Tso’s chicken — fresh and crispy. Eat it while its hot. Definitely more flavorful than other places Gripes: — not super friendly staff but thats just how it is here — you feel rushed out bc they start picking your plates up without asking(even when that last bite you save to eat last is still sitting on that plate) — not super clean Tip/Hack: Instead of ordering a whole dish, order the dish over rice — and its smaller and half the price(last page of menu) For baby-rents: No high chairs for babies but they have booster seats.

Small restaurant with about 25 seats, staff is quick to greet you and take your order. Upon entering the restaurant there is a counter like that of a pizza shop on which there is a lady making soup dumplings. We order chicken with shanghai cabbage over rice, shredded pork & szechuan cabbage noodle soup, an order of steam crab soup dumplings, and rice cake with shrimp. All together the food was expedited fast and very efficiently. It seems like the manager was tending the tables making sure the food was coming out on time. I noticed a lot of American people having lunch, they gave me a sense that they are regulars. Certainly my meal was under $ 30 for 4ppl with plenty of food. On the other hand, i did miss that they are. Currently with a C — grade from the department of sanitation. I will continue to report on this new finding.

I was recommended to come here when I asked about good soup dumplings, and they did not disappoint. My friend and I order 2 trays(1 pork 1 crab) and they were both delicious. The pork ones seems little heavier but at $ 5 a tray($ 6 for crab), I’m getting one of each. The skin is tender and has the perfect texture. The first time our dumplings were accompanied by vegetable pan fried noodles which were good but put us over the edge. Next time we went with dry sautéed string beans which were VERY tasty and crunchy. I think this might be a winning combination.

Came in at closing to a smile and a much friendlier nature than the other place that shooed out. Happy to take my order… Even though it was Teneral Tso. Food was excellent! Took me back to when I was a youngster, great flavor, no chewiness. Topped off a great vacation with an exclamation point!

Great cheap dirty dumplings in NYC. Pros– cheap, delicious, large portion sizes. Even has free wifi! Staff friendly if not a bit quick to get you eating and gone but happy to answer questions about menu. Offered to wrap up uneaten food in doggy bag for us too. Cons– very quick in and out no fuss, not the cleanest of places(but dumplings in china town — who are you kidding?) beers we ordered were warm. Food delicious. Go.

Hole in the wall Chinese joint. Heard the soup dumplings at «Nice Green Bo» were great, so went to go check it out, only to find that its now called«Deluxe Green Bo». Not sure if anything else changed other than the name, but I felt that the soup dumplings were definitely underwhelming. The other dishes we ordered were good, maybe even a step above of other Chinese joints, but I don’t think it warrants another trip back. What we ordered: Pork soup dumplings/Crab and Pork soup dumplings — inconsistent. Broth was hot in pork however lukewarm/cold in the crab. Skin was a little too thick for my liking. General Tso’s chicken — a step above others. Nice flavour to the sauce and meat tasted like it was good quality Rice cake chicken — unlike anything I’ve ever tried, tasty, but not really my thing Shrimp Lo mein — thick substantial noodles. Also good quality/flavour Scallion pancake — hot and crispy. Good complement to the soup dumplings. I’d recommend the General Tso’s, scallion pancake and the lo mein if you find yourself dining here. Also the service here is really great, the ladies are very friendly!

Only got the soup dumplings here and I wouldn’t suggest coming here for them. The pork and broth were tasty but the skin was inconsistent(within the same batch some were too thin and some were too thick). I tasted chunks of garlic in the filling… and it just seemed sloppily done. HOWEVER … the NICEST ladies/servers I’ve met in Chinatown! Usually Chinatown service is awful but here they’re super friendly and actually smile like normal people(what!!!) So if you’re not a soup dumpling snob like I am and just want to get some cheap chinese food, I’d suggest this place. Plus, you can go to Mei Li bakery 2 doors down for a $ 1 pork bun«dessert» and then bubble tea at Vivi’s(across the street) to go.
