Came for the cheap drinks. Left because uhhh this bar is totally shuttered. That’s a bummer, I’m sure it was cool when the doors were open and the liquor was flowing. C’est la vie.

Popped in on a random Friday night just to visit some friends for a quick drink or five. Prices were pretty decent for a shot and a beer and it seemed like a pretty chill atmosphere. I didn’t really stay here too long but it seemed like there was a pool table in the back where a few people were«playing» pool in their inebriated state. The bartenders here were very attentive and served drinks fairly quickly, which is always a good thing. Definitely need to hit up the happy hour here and see what it’s all about because apparently I have«No Idea» how awesome this place truly can be.

Pretty chill place with a diverse crowd. Yeah, what a boring and oft-used statement. Haha. My apologies. Around 6, it’s still not packed. Lots of brews on tap and liquor to be imbibed. A pool table in the back provides fun and embarrassment if you suck at playing like me. The Avatar pinball machine provides shiny lights, loud noises, and good cathartic stress relief after a long work day. Take advantage of Name Night! My dear Aviva G. got to enjoy free beer in her souvenir green plastic cup from 5 — 11 p.m., likely as THE only Aviva there, at least as of when I left at 8:30 p.m. on that particular evening. Allison Night, hurry up, please!

I like it. The people who come here are very nice and so are the bartenders. It works.

Very mixed crowd. Thought it was odd that my Guinness wasn’t on tap and he served it out of a beer. I wasn’t expecting that but it all taste the same so watever. Played a few rounds of pool here and that was fun. Really low key place after 5. I presume because the spot is huge, it feels like you’re there alone. Not really but. seriously no one was there when I went. The pinball or watever machine was in the back is a bit distracting if you’re talking or playing pool because the patrons get .umm.excited but otherwise it seems like a nice cool spot.

The first time I went there was with the intention of having a few drinks before going out for the night. This is a great idea if you have only a COUPLE drinks. The bartenders here really know how to make the mixed drinks STRONG! After what I figured was a decent amount before going to the next bar, I soon found myself feeling like how I would closer to 3 am. The prices are decent here — $ 7 for a 16 oz. beer/shot combo or for a mixed wells drink. And there’s no credit card minimum, which is a huge plus considering some bars charge $ 25 to use a card. Overall this is a great after work or meetup place after class. If you go often enough the bartenders will start to know you by name, which can help you score a night of free drinking in the future(they create a new calendar each month and if your name is listed on a specific day you get to drink for free from 5 — 11 pm — a lot longer than most bars that offer free open bar specials!).

It’s a dive bar. Did you come here looking for a dive bar? Did you come knowing that you should stick to the cans and bottles because the draft is a bit«variable»? You did? Carry on, then…

I found this place for a friend’s birthday on a whim, and was pleasantly surprised. Decent dive bar with CHEAP drinks. A well drink in a PINT glass is a mere $ 6. Like, are you joking? Gimme 10! A great variety of beers too; draught, bottles, and a select group of tall boys. They also have name night, where if it’s your name that night, you drink free 5 – 11. There is one table in the front of the bar that we ended up getting which was MONEY. I didn’t wander around much, but there was a pool table in the back, which I’m learning to appreciate more. The music was awesome, too. Lots of favorite throw-back jams and current top 40. One song that stuck out was Take Me There from the Rugrats sountrack, which BROUGHTMEBACK.

Everything has been said already so there’s not much more I can add. Dive place with cheaper than normal drinks. Good crowd that generally skews to 20-somethings but some old folks like me can be found. Really enjoyed my one visit here and would return. Also, the bartenders were super friendly, which, in a city full of dbag bartenders in snooty bars, will ALWAYS get my vote for a return visit.

This is a great dive-y bar in the Flatiron District with affordable drinks, and if you’re lucky enough to be the name of the day, free drinks too! I popped in with some of my running buddies last week and had an absolute blast. If you’re looking for a crazy(naughty) time, they have a pretty good(shameful) deal on a tall boy and shot of whiskey. If you’re in the mood for a pretentious-free and affordable post-work round of drinks with your friends, this is the place! Beware — no singing allowed ;-)

This place is interesting. Upon entering, it looks like your typical dive bar with all the visual hallmark that would make it so. But the the crowd is a very interesting mix of business people, punk rockers, metro people, etc… For that reason, it’s a pretty cool place. One really cool things about this palce is they have a daily name that they right on this chalkboard. If your name matches their daily name, you get to drink to drink for free for the night! Though they really have anything that I would drink there, it’s a hell of a promo and you can surely get your money’s worth. They also have a good happy hour special where you get full beer and a shit of Jameson for about 7 bucks. Defintiely cant beat that as well. This is a pretty cool place and definitely worth checking out.

Just your typical grungy bar, but with a few good perks: 1) Name night: keep an eye on the calendar on their website; every date is associated with a first name, and anyone with that name drinks FOFREE from 5 – 11PM! Just need to bring friends. 2) You get a free plastic NOIDEA cup on your name night. Very classy! 3) They don’t serve food, but you can order anything you want from the outside world and have it delivered. I ordered in a delicious and healthy salad from Chop’t(which probably wasn’t hearty enough for me, as I came to No Idea on «Jenna» night… woops!).

Man, if you have a somewhat unique name, you’re in luck. No Idea has a monthly calendar, each day with a first name. If your name matches one of their daily names, you drink for free in the evening. This has got me considering changing my name a few times. Decent spot in Flatiron, hole-in-the-wall feeling with a low-key and friendly vibe. Sticky surfaces, but isn’t this the sign of a decent bar? No music, so easier to have a conversation. Low lights which made it a little too sexy feeling for an office happy hour. $ 5÷6÷7 dollar beers, depending on what you get. Not a ton of tap selection, but enough. Bud tall boys that a lot of people seemed to be ordering. Lots of room in the back, and if your’e there early enough you can probably snag a table for a group as large as 15.

Love this place its a nice bar that every drink comes in a pint glass. I had a couple of No Idea vodka with soda and for a pint it was only $ 8, you dont get that anywhere else.

I’m not sure why you would give this place less than 4 stars if you are rating it for what it is, which is a standard bar. One that you will want to come back to again. It’s a fun, relaxed place. On a Thursday night we had plenty of room to move around without feeling a sense of emptiness. Not quite divey, but close. The mixed drinks come in pint glasses. And I don’t mean one shot with a lot of mixer. Just a pint size or whatever you are drinking. The bartenders are friendly and patient, and will give you money to play the digital jukebox if people have let it get quiet. For $ 5 we got around 15 songs, so it’s fun to play around with. The music selection is good, although I guess you are at the mercy of the taste of the person choosing songs. The entry is your standard skinny, NY bar with no seating that opens up a bit toward the back for standing room. There is a separate small-ish room with pinball and a pooltable, and a bigger room with tables. And yes, there is namenight. If your name is up that day, you drink for free.

Beware of their $ 7 beer and shot of whiskey special, it deffff can get you effed up after a couple of rounds. It’s a pretty chill bar, nothing exciting. We came to celebrate coming in 3rd place for our ZogSports indoor soccer league. It was St. Patty’s and we didn’t want to go to a super crowded bar. No Idea was preetttyy empty for St. Patty’s so it was perfect for us. We took over the round table in the front of the bar and just went to town on those beer and whiskey specials… to the point where the bar asked us to return the shot glasses if we wanted to order more rounds. It was fun because it was so random, but I doubt I’d be coming back.

I love coming to this place and just relax with my friends. I first came here for a birthday party and we utilized the back room that had long cafeteria tables and televisions all around. The prices were great for NYC and their«No Idea» tap is cheap and awesome. They let you order take out and even help you with menus laid out sporadically throughout the bar. They also have a billiards table in the back. The thing that makes this bar unique is they have a name night. If your name matches the name they pick that night, you get to drink for free between the hours of 5 – 11. You can even plan your visit and look at the schedule of names for the month on their website. Definitely recommend if you have a large group and all you want is to catch up.

No Idea is a standard bar… not much differentiates it from others in the same neighborhood so I fully understand the 3 star rating… standard ambiance, standard prices, standard beer list, standard«getting my coworkers wasted» goal accomplished. BUT… Um, guys? Has anyone else noticed that there’s like the nicest bartenders ever here? I felt like I wasn’t in NYC. They were extraordinarily attentive, friendly, and helpful. I spilled a spot of beer on my silk dress and was given not just club soda and napkins to try to rectify the situation but both a compliment on said dress and a check in next time I went to the bar to see if the club soda treatment worked. Seriously? I’m obsessed with the attitudes of the people here and the fact that they are actually genuine. It’s awesome. Oh and they play really freaking good(and sometimes obscure) music. Bonus.

I’ve had many birthday parties here because it is cheap, in a great area, has a large standing room in the back and you can bring your own food. The mixed drinks are not great, but not bad; it is what you would expect for a cheap place. People who frequent No Idea are young professionals and you’re guaranteed to see them wasted by 10pm and on. It’s a fun place to gather a bunch of people in the back room especially if you come early. Bring a bag or two of chips and you’re set for a good time. But you don’t fall in love with No Idea.

Me — Where we going? Cuz — No Idea Me — Well you better hurry up and pick a place, happy hour is almost over. Cuz — No dumbass, the name of the place is No Idea. Me — STFU Why did I give this place 4 stars? — They allow you to bring in food from other places — They pour their mixed drinks in the large glasses — They have a jukebox — They have a pool table — Their drinks are stiff as. well you can think of your own stiff object here — They have«Name Nights». so they post a calendar. When it’s your name on that night, all your drinks are free. Oh what? Too bad there will never be a Bong Night. It’s cool I don’t live in NY but still … that’s racist
