Went there specifically for their tacos and they didn’t disappoint! We tried the carne asada and the jerk chicken tacos, they were great, we’ll definitely be back. The staff was also very nice and helpful.

Drinks are small weak and expensive. Food is okay, nothing blowing your mind. Service was not good… they repeatedly forgot to bring out drinks/sides we ordered. Also took forever to come around to get drink refills. We had a large party and all the main entrees came out piecemeal… so we had to wait about 30 min for all entrees to hit so everyone could eat. I’m assuming there is a small kitchen but I got the feeling they forgot to punch In orders as they kept asking us how many tacos we had ordered that hasn’t come out. Something was not right. They also squished us around a table meant for 10 so we had no room at all. Will never go back again. Disappointing.

The 2nd best oxtail I’ve ever had(first being my friends mother) but on a serious note, the oxtail was soooooo delicious I had to tell the waitress to give compliments to the chef for me. Whom after gave us a complimentary desert which was very nice!!! I could not stop endlessly raving about the oxtail, so much so that I wrote all over the receipt how amazing I found it! There’s a difference between food being good and soooo good that you have to let everyone know it was. So that oxtail was good!!! And the staff was excellent!

This review is only for the bar portion: it’s narrow so I only recommend for a smaller group. The inside is a cute nautical type theme and seems like it attracts a good crowd.

Had a reservation this past Sunday for dinner, and when we showed up we were told the kitchen didn’t open for another hour. I’ve never encountered anything like that before, and since people do make mistakes, it might be excusable, except for the fact that. A) They weren’t that apologetic; B) We’d made the reservation a month prior; C) We never received a phone call to alert us; and worst of all, D) Looking at the computer, we could see we were literally the only reservation for that entire night.(Which frankly, obviously doesn’t bode well for the future of the establishment). We said it would’ve been nice if they had called us, and they said something about assuming we’d want drinks before dinner… to which I had to wonder, «Who uses OpenTable to make a reservation for DRINKS?» It’s too bad — we were looking forward to the meal(especially after seeing the segment on CBS Sunday Morning) — but we had an off-Broadway show to get to, so we had no choice but to leave, with an empty stomach and more than a bit of frustration. Luckily, Russ & Daughters Café was up the street just a block, had a free table, and we walked in and had a sensational, lovely meal.

While visiting New York City we stopped in to have a bite to eat! The food was amazing and the presentation was fabulous… Highly recommend to anyone visiting or the locals Bona petite

Took a friend to Spur Tree for his birthday dinner last week and it was a memorable event. Tasty authentic Jamaican food — — very flavorful and large portions. The menu is extensive and the service fast and friendly. The menu features favorites from Jamaica such as jerk chicken, curried goat and ackee and codfish. One of the specialties of the restaurant is their«Lionfish» — grilled or fried to perfection. The atmosphere is definitely amazing — — be ready for great music and a good crowd. There are two levels so you can really choose what kind of night you’re in the mood for. I will definitely be returning!

I went to this restaurant because I heard about the Lionfish Project and was curious to try lionfish. The waiter was friendly and attentive. The lionfish was served with a tasty sauce, and the plantains were delicious!

The service is slow. We have been waiting for our food for about nearly an hour and nothing still. The server said she would look into it but 10 minutes have gone by and we still haven’t received any response.

Everything was going great… At first. We were enjoying our approximate 15 dollar drinks… since we were on vacation we were splurging. But then after the Né-Yo like host came by twice asking if we were eating food, we felt uncomfortable. Even with our reservation it appeared we were taking too long at the table. Overall, the food and drinks were good but after the host issue the place felt pretentious with priorities being table turnover versus experience. We are from South Florida and felt this was a faux restaurant. If you want the Caribbean atmosphere come to So Flo or head to Jamaica directly. Overall, I guess it’s nice for NY if you don’t know any better.

Way to go, lion fish was the best and most tasty fish I’ve ever had. I have a new addiction that’s actually good for the environment. Wow please have it more Often on the menu!!!

Came here for a friend’s brunch. The food was pretty good. I had the jerk chicken with a side salad. But the food kind of becomes forgettable when you taste the alligator rum. A pitcher of it is $ 15 bucks which is a steal in itself and it tastes so good before you know it, you’re freakin’ wasted. So pleased, so pleased. I urge you to come here during the night time hour.

I went here last night for an after work event with my friend. I sat at the bar for 20 minutes and the bartender did not acknowledge me. I met a lady who was just finishing her watermelon *something* beverage(which she said was flavorful but weak) and she stated that she had the same issue. However there were 4 – 5 people at the other end of the bar who were getting a lot of attention. Friends of the bartender perhaps? I didn’t stay to find out. I grabbed my bag and let. My friend said that some of other people were ordering food straight from the kitchen because they were tired of waiting for the bartender.

I want to like and support this place, but it really was a ‘meh’ for me. The positives: staff were really nice and attentive. Definitely no gripes there. Oh, and the Snapper Taco was quite good. Negatives: — Ordered about 7 dishes, mixture of appetizers, entrees and sides. Took about 50 mins for anything to come out. Like, not one dish? Odd. — Ordered mojitos, they came in small tumbler glasses and weren’t very good either. — The serving sizes were ridiculously small. This was probably the most egregious part of the whole experience. Ordered the lamb from the entrees, three cutlets and a pretty basic spinach leaf and grated carrot garnish with dressing. I could go on, but I think you get the message. Overall — really quite disappointed. Wouldn’t recommend it to others.

Overall amazing! The veggie burger and spicy fries were awesome! I wasn’t sure about the place because they were playing salsa music at first, but I have it a chance. Then about halfway through my meal they changed over to Marvin Gaye… so I was hooked. Wait staff is great. A fierce and courteous waitress with a Mohawk was amazing and they let me charge my phone.

Strolled by and decided to give it a shot. My jerk chicken was completed roasted. It was black as a piece of charcoal and hard like a piece of charcoal. Enough said.

The portion sizes here were atrociously small, but I’ll give it to Norman’s Cay for the atmosphere and drinks. All the cocktails had a tropical flair! My favorites were: — Dark and Stormy: admittedly it’s hard to mess up these up — Bourbon Smuggler: bourbon and ginger beer — my two favorite things! — Sky Juice: I generally avoid gin drinks but the coconut juice made it bearable The only food stand-out was the guac — which was served with plantain and yuca chips(for all the gluten-free peeps). I also split fish and beef tacos with my friend(two tacos per order). The beef tacos were just bad; the fish had a great, spicy sauce. The lion fish dish was slight appalling — just white matter on a plate(not poor tasting but still…). Ironically, one person in our group ordered a salad which ended up being too large to finish. I’m so coming back here in the summer for those drinks!

Norman’s Cay is new in the old Interstate spot with a focus on Bahamian and Caribbean seafood. It’s from the owners of The Grey Lady, the Nantucket seafood ‘shack’ a couple blocks away. They have a fun cocktail list; the Rum Dum was well, rummy, and probably more worth the $ 13 price tag than a Dark and Stormy. I tried the conch fritters which were denser than the ones I ate in The Bahamas(but still good) and served with some tasty sauces. They had a swordfish kebab special which was served like most of their Mains menu, with roti bread and pico de gallo and other sauces. This and the chicken were moist and well-marinated. I could see myself trying the whole snapper next time. I would definitely come here for a full dinner again but might also just get small bites and cocktails at the bar and marvel at the Cessna hanging overhead. I’m excited to see how their menu evolves and try some of the ceviche selections next time.
