One Lucky Duck

Super fresh juice and smoothies! Very fun and positive staff! Great place!!! Acai bowls are awesome! I stop by every time I’m in New York. Can’t say enough good things about Lucky Duck!

Is this place even open? We walked around for maybe 20 minutes and we couldn’t find it. Called the number and #‘s not in service. Maybe they didn’t pay their employees either ??

This place is owned by the same people that run Pure Food and Wine, which is by far the best raw restaurant I’ve ever been to. And I’ve been to many.
As a juice bar goes it’s nice and the salads are great. So if recommend this place for breakfast (for raw eaters) or lunch (for everyone else).
It lacks ambiance and there’s nothing amazing about it hence 4 stars instead of 5. If you can make it over to their restaurant in Union Sq do that.

I am satisfied to read that my negative reviews regarding Pure Food & Wine from 10/​26/​2014 proved to be an accurate perception and reflection of this business owner: Sarma Melngailis: (
). I however regret that it is at the expense of the innocent, hardworking employees. It is amazing to further read that while the employees were being ripped off and not paid, Sarma was out and about, traveling abroad. Pathetic!

The whole fresh pressed juice trend has certainly exploded in the past few years which has led to a great variety of options to choose from .
As expected, the price point was going to be steep, my ginger based juice that I ordered was north of $ 10!
The flavors ran true, consistency was smooth and had the right balance of sweetness. Only issue I had was with the over assertiveness of the ginger on the back of your palate but thankfully it didn’t completely over power everything else.

Freshly made juice is a great perk but the price point is not for everyone

A great raw organic vegan oasis in Chelsea Market! Yes, it is expensive — are you really that surprised? That being said, it is also very delicious and worth the money, in my opinion. The lasagna is great — I never imagined I’d like cashew cheese that much! I’ve only been here once, but when I came, they had a lot to choose from and the food was delicious.

The staff are always friendly and the space is presented nicely yet to order a smoothie which I swapped one fruit to another, and charge $ 15.75 is outrageous. I understand fresh produce but you could make the same smoothie at home for far less that is for sure

It was a little overpriced in my opinion. It is raw, organic and whatever buzzword you want to use. I am pro organic but even myself wouldn’t want to pay that much for the amount I got. Good luck to them and if your down to pay that much more for what is essentially blended fruits and vegetables go right on ahead.

I know raw food is expensive. I know raw food takes a lot of time to make. But the prices here are ridiculous. I understand the $ 9 for smoothies because it is like that at a lot of places but they sell a lasagna that is the size of a fist for $ 19. That is way too much. I had the green mango smoothie and it was good. Strong on the cilantro and not too sweet.

I was happy to find this healthy option in Chelsea Market. The $ 9 smoothies were pretty good but the service could not have been more chilly. C’mon! It took all of 6 minutes to throw together the two smoothies that I shelled out $ 18 for. It’s advisable to thank a customer rather than grunt and scowl. (2.5 stars)

Very overprice and not so great.
I had the Avocolada ($ 9) — which contains avocado, pineapple, coconut water, lime, vanilla. To me, it taste super diluted. I was expected a creamy (avocado) flavor, or at least a blast of coconut water flavor. It was very underwhelming and taste like they put only 1 slice of avocado, splash of coconut water and tons of water. Maybe I am wrong. but that’s what it tasted like.
I’ve also had one of their ($ 11) cold pressed green juice here, and its pretty disgusting. I grew up in a family where vegetable and fruits are emphasized. I don’t understand what recipe was part of this… but it taste quiet bad (again, bland and diluted)
Overall — I would rather go across the market and get some fruits and coconut water and eat it whole.

Couldnt be more annoyed with this place. They overcharged my credit card by a hefty ammount and never gave me a recipt. When I called to ask what happened they told me they couldnt help without a recipt… again that they never gave me. Going to have to dispute the charge.
Never again, wasnt even that good.

I’m not really sure why I’m writing a review of a smoothie that cost $ 9, but here goes:
From the folks that bring you PURE, the (some would say 5-​star, ahem) Vegan/​Organic restaurant on Irving Place, comes One Lucky Duck — the Juice bar at Chelsea Market.
For only $ 9, you too can get a Calypso — a craft blended smoothie consisting of mango, raspberry, lemonade, and vanilla. And it is delicious.
Being a fan of the healthy eats, one day I might try a salad there too.

I’m conflicted about this place… I thought about bitching about the $ 12 blueberry shake/​juice thing I saw the staff put together in 30 seconds in a blender for me, but if I’m paying up to $ 40-​$ 50 to shovel butter/​fat/​salt-​laden heart-​attack-​in-​waiting entrees in my face at the various places I go to around the city, $ 27 for a salad and juice to pretend to do right for my body is not a high price to pay.
That said the kale salad was pretty damn good — the dressing had this spicy kick to give it more flavor. I was expecting it to taste like cardboard.
And they had Type O Negative playing in the background — one arbitrary star for that.

It’s not that I’m not feeling the love, but it’s not my Gramercy place!
To this location’s credit, it has everything and is relatively stocked.
To my disappointment, there weren’t many salads as it doesn’t have a kitchen, instead receives fresh daily deliveries from Gramercy. But still it makes fresh juices and smoothies on-​site.
This is a welcome oasis providing reprieve from all the meat and seafood loving establishments inside Chelsea market.

I had the most expensive smoothie I’ve ever had at $ 12 based on the recommendation of the (barista?)…“the spanking” was incredibly good and given that it had organic ingredients in cashew milk, it was well worth it (thanks to the owner Samra for clarifying that ingredients are all organic). I loved the taste and it kept me full and energized for hours until lunch… all without the dairy and soy crap that most other places serve.
I’ll be back when I’m in town next.
For $ 30 you can get a tasting lunch menu M-​F at their sister restaurant Pure Food and Wine. I’ll definitely try that.

I’ve been here twice now. I really enjoy the Green Spice. Good stuff!
Expensive stuff!
Blasé regard from the bored staff. I’m sorry I’m not vegan at all. Maybe they can smell the bacon grease, raw milk and egg yolks coming out of my pores. I dunno.
The ginger is wonderful and helps to digest the brussels sprouts that I always get at the Tuck Shop. Which means I just may pay another 9+ for a green drink sometime in my future.
Considering that Grassy Roots in Wenham, MA charges 7 for their fresh organic juice drinks, I’m really not surprised that an establishment in a heavily trafficked and tourist-​draw part of NYC like Chelsea Market would ratchet that price up a couple of notches.

I only had the raw orreos. They were pricey but good. Plenty of fruit juices and smoothies to choose from.

I checked out One Lucky Duck in Chelsea Market and loved the atmosphere of the market. I had an awesome Hot Pink juice ($ 7) consisting of pineapple, beet, ginger and pear. This juice is sweet, spicy and the pear adds a thickness that aids in feeling satiated. I had little tiny pieces of pear in my drink. For being in that part of town, the prices weren’t too bad.
I also had a Moon Pie since I have never heard of them before. This dessert is super-​duper rich with all the best textures. A crunchy messy chocolate coating with a moist chocolate cake with smooth & creamy vanilla frosting. It was $ 9 for one Moon Pie though! I found this to be rather expensive for such a small treat with ingredients that are not all that expensive however, this does look like a very time-​consuming dessert.
Time is a huge factor is pricing with living vegan food! In store there will be drink specials of the day, when I was there I believe I saw a Peppermint Latte Smoothie that sounded yummy and was a creative idea to me at least. It was a little difficult to get someone’s attention to place an order and I think there is a problem there with the cashier giving correct change back. I would consider double checking how much money you are getting back, you might be missing a few dollars. I have a close reliable friend who had the same issue.

As my flavor-​of-​the-​week (kidding, flavor of my 20’s, more like it) was drooling over olive oils, vinegars and beer at The Filling Station, I snagged a 10-​spot and found my way to One Lucky Duck for a pick-​me-​up fresh juice.
And that it was. I had the Bunny: carrot, apple, ginger. All fresh ingredients, nice texture, super smooth. VERY spicy with ginger, I could just feel my digestive track doing jumping jacks and push-​ups.
The cashier looked bored and uninterested which was too bad, but the man that made my juice was much more friendly. I think if you are charging $ 9 for a liquid without booze in it… you should probably be at the ready to explain some stuff. Not just staring at your iphone with a melancholic glazed-​over mantra. Maybe she needs a different kind of juice.
So yep, $ 9 juice. Pretty good… and they have lots of vegan goodies, including randomly… a skincare line. OKie doke.
