All the bread I’ve tried here is delightful. When they add in flavor like pumpkin or chocolate to the bread, it’s always a perfectly modest amount of sweetness. I’d come here for the loaves. Their assorted cookies are all yummy too but pricey. A lot of people come here for the donuts which are certainly worth a try. They definitely taste different and have a tougher consistency compared to the average glazed donuts I’m used to. It’s also super sweet with the jelly filling but I enjoyed trying it.

it was glorious to call and hear a human on the other end of the phone say«yes, we’re open normal hours today” — while a blizzard was in progress outside my window. this is my local bakery and have not been disappointed with them once. service has always been wonderful . yes they have a great ale breads, doughnuts, and standard breads but what I love most about this place are the specialty items such as DIVINE Gigante Beans& Red Peppers(which ** comes with complementary focaccia!**) Almond Horns– orgasmically good with the perfect balance of creamy, chewy, crunchy almond/marzipan paste, surrounded by slivers of almonds on the outside Raisin Walnut Pumpernickel loaf Pumpernickel bread Do yourself a favor to try these and you will not regret it!

HOLYJAM! I am a huge jam fanatic, HUGE! Like Joey Tribbiani love for jam HUGE. I also love donuts so when I saw that Orwashers pride themselves in fresh jam in their donuts, I knew I had to give it a go. At $ 4.25 for a donut, I got the sugar donut with red raspberry jam. Although a bit pricey for a donut, it was worth it. The donut itself was yummy. Soft and doughy all around. The star was definitely the jam, the stuffed in, plentiful jam. Every bite I took had jam. It had the perfect balance of sweet and tart, full of that fresh raspberry seeds. The jam literally oozed out as I got to the middle. So goooood. I definitely want to go back and try every flavor of jam and basically everything else they offer.

First time at this bakery and everything looked so good! Their black and white cookies are to die for — mini and regular sized! Will definitely be back to try their other treats.

I’ve had such a hard time finding a round loaf of dark pumpernickel bread in this city. But Orwasher’s really delivered! I feel like this place will become a regular stop for me, as their jelly donuts are incredible and the filling is not too sweet. I tried the Peach filling and it was perfection! Cookies are great as well!

I wasn’t overly excited to try the jelly filled donut as I don’t like donuts much(don’t kill me). I just hate biting into one and feel the lake of greasiness coming into my mouth. But I was wrong for Orwasher’s, I don’t know how it’s even possible for a deep fried pastry but it was light and fluffy and just perfect. The black raspberry jam was an excellent choice for the chocolate donut and I had jam with every bite. Not too much not too little. I went a second time and I can say that the sour cherry jam is absolutely delicious! I also tried a small black and white cookie, and I told myself after one bite that I should have taken the large one lol. It was a tiny bit too sweet though. I got the almond croissant twice: first time was absolutely great but the second time not so much, it felt like it was from the day before, not crunchy anymore. Anyway, just come for the jelly filled donuts! Went on a Sunday morning to make sure to get a donut and there was no line!

The sesame loaf was fragrant and delicious. The outer crust was nicely golden and encrusted in sesame seeds. The inside of the bread was flavorful with a slight salt flavoring and airiness. We had our loaf cut into ~20 slices, each a bit thinner than .5 inch. The widest part of a slice is 3.5 inches so this makes for a good bread to use for spreads and charcuterie. Not quite wide enough to make a meaningful sandwich.

Best jelly filled donuts on the upper east side hands down. I buy bread there weekly. The staff is so friendly.

Orwasher’s Bakery has been bookmarked when I was looking for apts in NYC more than a year ago. And I hate myself for not coming here when I moved to UES. I thank my friend for buying his weekly baguettes here last Sunday noon when I was with him. The baguettes are so crispy on the outside and soft chewy on the inside. I think $ 3.50 each. We ate this with different kinds of spread at home and it was absolutely delicious. Everything here is so fresh! The chocolate donuts were amazing too. I’m not the biggest donut fan even though I am obsessed with bread, but their donut was«light». I don’t know how to explain it but… the donut was full with flavor but not as carby as some other places. They are fairly big as well. I went again on my own today to buy a loaf of whole wheat bread, $ 4. I got it sliced and am super excited to try it tomorrow morning. Not only is the bread and pastry selection great, but their one wall has a great selection of spreads and peanut butter.-I’ll probably get one of these soon. They always have samples of different breads you can taste-huge plus? :) They have no minimum on credit card purchases either. I know i will shop here religiously now.

After my excitement this morning to try the much anticipated jelly filled donut, I made my way to the shop and ordered the chocolate glazed donut with pumpkin spice filling. I was really excited but after around 2 – 3 bites in I couldn’t handle how sweet it was. Not sure how they made the chocolate glaze but I could literally taste the grains of sugar… it was just very disappointing. the pumpkin spice filling was also extremely overpowering and it tasted pretty much like cinnamon apple filling instead… the consistency was ok but the taste I just couldn’t handle… After trying Dough, doughnut plant and very astounding donut shops I had pretty high expectations for this place… Since I live nearby I might try the actual bread. but until then I will be frequenting other places.

This is strictly based off their donuts. Their donuts were just made so well. I got the pumpkin and blackberry fillings in sugar donuts. Affordable, easy to eat, flavorful

Delicious sugar donuts. I got the plain ones that were supposed to be filled with cream without the cream, and the dough was so chewy and flavorful. Boyfriend ate 3 chocolate donuts – they were that good! Affordable prices too. Samples of bread had gnats and flies around… so a little iffy about that… but the baked goods are delicious and the actual huge loaves of bread look like they’re straight out of a movie!

Just a perfect place to walk in and get great bread or doughnuts and just about everything else that the city had to offer in an old NYC style. The Danishes were melt in your mouth. I love coming to a place that has been there before NYC became a sinking boat ride with strangers from strange lands and tourists snapping I Phone pics of the Chrysler. This place is perfect on the way home to get some crusty bread or in the morning to pick up a Danish. The service is always friendly and it is not over crowded. So drop in and have a taste of old NY!

What’s better then picking out your own personal donut and then watching someone shove a syringe of a jelly of your choice inside of it? That’s Orwasher’s in a nutshell. I don’t even like jelly donuts so I don’t know how I ended up here, but I did. I reluctantly picked the strawberry jelly, nervous that I was about to waste my money. But boy was I impressed. The freshness of the sugar donut and the jelly made this donut taste out of this world. The only suggestion is make is maybe they can start shoving chocolate syringes inside of the donuts and then I will definitely be back :)

Damn. This place doesn’t sell any dryers. Orwashers for that matter. So how the f*** am I gonna do my laundry? You will need to do your laundry after coming here though, for reals. Because their donuts, which to be honest are not the best donuts you’ll ever have, especially not by NYC standards, are filled with intoxicatingly heavenly james… er, I mean jams… thanks to the intoxicatingly heavenly Nick(and intoxicatingly heavenly Nick’s wife for being intoxicatingly heavenly) for spotting that one… although James is pretty heavenly mind you… so yeah, intoxicatingly heavenly jams, preserves and jellies(not KY Jellies), such as the heavenly blueberry which«blue» my mind. I’m not sure where they get the jam from… they said a «local jam shop» but I need to find out which one… that jam shop deserves a 5. But for these donuts, well it’s 5 for the filling, 3 for the donut, averaging out to 4. But if you’re a big fan of delicious jam in your donut, you won’t taste a better filling than Orwashers. But remember they don’t sell dryers… orwashers.

Came here after a run intending to buy bread and made quite a few impulse purchases due to hanger. We got one of each: — plain croissant: just ok. I’ve had better. — corn muffin: very good, but not a fan of the tulip style muffin wrapper. — mini macaroon with white chocolate: delicious — big black and white cookie: amazing. My favourite of the purchase. I’m already dreaming about getting another! It was my first b&w cookie so I have nothing to compare it to, but it was cakey, but not crumbly and the amount and sweetness of the icing was perfect. — one blueberry scone: just ok. It was a bit dry but we did wait a day to try it. — one loaf of ultimate whole wheat loaf: pretty good, but I wish it had a bit more of a spongey sourdough texture to it. As far as the bread that we sampled goes, it was some of the best bread we’ve had so far in the UES(after Kaysers).
