When my friend and I went to the counter to order the guy behind the counter said ‘we don’t have most things on the menu, i’ll tell you what we have. I ordered a turkey and cheese(that was the only thing they put in the sandwich) on white bread because that was the only bread they had. My friend ordered a cheese omelet and while waiting 25 minutes for the omelet we asked for coffee, they had no sweet and low only sugar, when I asked why it was taking so long I was told ’ we ran out of plates, the guy went to Associated to buy some’. the guy said to my friend as if I wasn’t there, ’ i don’t need her attitude’. When the omelet arrived no cheese and it was like rubber. I would give zero stars if its possible. Summer of 2015 the place was great WHATHAPPENED the Oval Café is the worst.

Everything is OK at best but if you want to order over the phone, forget about it because they never pickup. If you live near it and want to walk in, that’s the best way to go about it otherwise if you want food delivered, just order from Lenz

Moving into stuy town and learning about this I was super excited. I even saw that they were on seamless! We went one afternoon to take a moving break thinking it’d be a quick grab and go thing. I ordered a cranberry tuna sandwich and my other friends got other types of sandwiches and omelettes. The wait for food was wayyyyy too long. I could’ve made 5 tuna sandwiches in the time it took for them to make one, and it wasn’t crowded at all so I’m not sure what was going on. Finally we got our food and coffee and sat outside on their cute little patio. The food was fine, the cranberry tuna sandwich was just tuna salad with craisins mixed in. It was good, but I could easily make that myself. The second time I went back I was even more disappointed as they were out of the tuna sandwich. I’m sure I’ll end up ordering this place in on seamless when it starts to get too cold to go outside but it’s not what I expected it to be.

I am a Stuytown resident and the Oval Café is a personal favorite. It is not only conveniently located, but also clean, spacious, and well-lit. I am particularly a fan of one staff member named«Jeremy.» For some reason, he always brews cappuccinos with a heart design on the top — a cool persusonal touch. I have repeatedly spotted him being nice to gentlemen and older women. He wears his hat backwards and plays a mix of EDM and 90s hip hop. Definitely check this place out.

I gave the place another try today. After my last visit I was a little reluctant. Big mistake. We ordered grilled cheese sandwiches. What we received was inedible. Clearly, they were not grilled and appeared to be baked with nothing on them other than the 11 slices of cheese. Yes, we counted. And the fries were still frozen. The facilities were not much better. The bathroom looked like one you would find in a gas station. Not cleaned in quite some time. Not sure how they stay in business, but did notice most people only ordered coffee. Will never return.

Honesty they’ve changed this place for the worse. The menu has many fewer reasonable choices. Not terrible but not good. It’s still convenient if you live close by and has free wifi tho.

La Colombe coffee! Yes, it is really that much better than a bodega coffee. Popped in on a rainy morning and there was actually a good number of people in here. The girls working at the counter were sweet and swift, and my iced coffee was inexpensive, yet yummy, perfection.

Been here twice so far in my week living at PCVST. Just awful. Old pastries, rude service, served uncooked fries. I give three strikes. One more chance guys. There are three amazing delis/cafés steps away. Bring up your game or this isn’t gonna stick.

I went here for some lunch and i got a barbecue chicken pizza. i wanted a drink that they said wasn’t shipped yet so i got iced tea .we went outside the chairs were still chained up so there were only two tables left out of abut 10 that were chained up. we waited so long for the food but the place was empty. when the food finnaly came the sever said the food was hot and when i ate it the chesse was freezing cold and the whole pizza(including the crust) was covered in a sticky barbecue sauce that was like peanut butter. and it also had cold tomato sauce on it and they give you 4 smaller than domino’s slices. i recommend never coming here.

This café is a hidden gem. The coffee is great and the food is surprisingly good. Looking forward to the good weather so I can sit out on the patio and have lunch outside. This café is huge a perk to living at Stuy Town.

Nice folks there! Love it because they have ultra fast internet and its nice and warm inside! Since all other coffee shops they just want to kick you out as soon as you get there by turning off the heat! I commend you for leading by example. :)

I usually just buy an iced tea or iced coffee from the bar so that I can stay and study, so I can’t really comment on their selection of drinks or food items, but I’ve heard their pastries are great, and I often see folks ordering their hot sandwiches/salads as well. The lighting in the café is fantastic for reading, studying, catching up with friends, etc. etc., and if you are into people watching, the huge floor to ceiling windows are a nice plus. :)

A nice little café located off Stuyvesant Oval. The most I’ve ever gotten from here is a drink and some macrons. The menu has seemed to expanded while I’ve lived here which now includes breakfast and brunch, sandwiches, wraps, paninis, soup, and more. There’s even a kids menu. The prices seem decent and it’s close to home, but to be honest I don’t visit it as much as I’d like, I forget it’s even there.

I work by here so I frequently pop in when I am very hungry or thirsty and I have no other options or very few options, but I resort to this because it is just too convenient not to. First off, I would like to say that it is a rip-off. It is definitely way over-priced for what they serve. Everything is over-priced: from their macaroons, smoothies to their skimpy sandwiches that doesn’t even fill you. The quality is fine — nothing special, and it isn’t terribly. I always pay feeling slightly ripped off. Also, they take way too long to have your order ready especially when it is something small and simple!

When my friend who lives in PCV mentioned Oval Café, I wasn’t sure what it was like until I saw the menu. They have a lot of good food. The only thing was the pizza that my friend had was small.

The Oval Café used to be for residents only, now it is open to the public, It is in the center of Stuyvesant Town over looking the large lawn. It has indoor and outdoor seating.

Having a café is the smartest idea that PVCST management or owners have had out of the Oval amenities that have been offered so far. First, you don’t have to pay a membership fee to use the café. I think the space used to be the Oval Lounge which was just a bad idea and use of space. Second, it actually makes business since it has nice patio seating and is a great place to hang out and relax. Especially on a beautiful day like today. The interior space feels a bit empty and could use another table or so, but I guess it’s going for a modern minimal look. But it’s a nice location for those who live east of 1st Ave. They serve La Colombe coffee and source in food from quality or known establishments like pre-packaged Eli Zabar sandwiches. I had a croissant and it was quite good but don’t remember where they get them from. There’s also ice cream and they have a cart that they bring out to the Oval which attracts the kids.
