Very warm and comfortable. The owners are so gentile that i was getting served by my parents.

I just had breakfast there this morning and the food was really good, but while having the last sip of my cappuccino, I saw that there was a bug in the cup. In fact, I only look inside the cup, because I actually felt the bug in my mouth. I don’t know what kind of bug that was, but It measured about ¼″… Just gross.

An amazing local spot. The service was so sweet and friendly. I had the bolognese and the sauce was like my grandmother made! It was so deliscious! The dessert, tiramisu. All homemade, decadent! I loved it! It’s cash only, but totally laid back and authentic

This is our local go-to spot, and we are very pleased small, local businesses like this still exist. If you want a real, authentic experience, go to Paradiso. Too often reviews on Unilocal focus on things that don’t even matter in a dining experience. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again — just because you have a stomach and a computer, doesn’t make you a food critic. This food is consistently good, unpretentious, and the atmosphere is genuine. Both of the owners will sit with you and chat, get to know their customers, always smile. Paradiso has the best paninis in the city,(in my opinion) homemade tiramisu(made by an Italian), and the right business sense toward cultivating the customers they want. And if you’re going for the free WiFi — go to Starbucks — or better yet, pay your own cable/internet bill.

I’ve been here twice. Once to buy some basil pesto and dried tomato pesto for home, the pestos are big, inexpensive, and taste really excellent. Counter service is genuinely Italian, casual and extremely friendly and inviting. Tonight my girlfriend and I came for dinner. Even at 7pm on a Saturday night, only a couple of the six tables were occupied, no problem getting a seat. Service is extremely quick, attentive, humble and friendly. The food was excellent – unpretentious, authentic, and high-quality. Delicious mozzarella caprese, roast brussels sprouts, and freshly-made fettuccine«Anna» with pesto and zucchini. Everything was inexpensive and great, especially given the East Village location that’s prone to ostentation and unjustified prices. The mixed salad was fine quality but dull, might get a few more vegetable sides next time instead. I plan to return often, this is a relaxing and genuine place in a neighborhood that’s rapidly becoming overpriced and tiresome.

This place is for those who is looking for a decent quality and delish food for cheap price. Both service and staff are great. It is noot busy most of the times and there are many comfortable places to sit. There’s a variety of salads, pastas, sandwiches and many of other tasty stuff. Everything there is way beyond the average, so i guess that giving this place five stars is a right decision.

Paradiso has become a regular spot for one of my good friends and I to have our mutual-day-off catching-up sessions. We usually come for a late lunch and spend about an hour sipping on coffee and orzata, and enjoying ham & cheese croissants, pasta ala funghi, or a mediterranean salad. What keeps us coming back is the sweet, Italian mom & pop ambience, and the great quality-to-cost ratio. It’s a shame they don’t do dinner service(they are also cash only) but if I lived in Alphabet City I would be here at least once a week. It has a very laid back, timeless feel(both the interior and the food itself), it’s simple, unpretentious, and very delicious. Service has always been great when we’ve gone too, and there’s never a wait.

Wonderful neighborhood spot. Always plenty of seats available and a genuine Italian vibe. The paninis and breakfast sandwiches are great. The omlettes are perhaps a bit too rich for my taste, although delicious. Definitely recommend to those looking for a solid, not over-crowded brunch spot.

This place is great. While I was pregnant I ate there twice a week to satisfy my cravings for delicious pasta with mushrooms. I highly recommend. Now with a baby I don’t go there as much because there is limited seating though they are very accommodating and never seemed annoyed with a whining baby. Their olive oil is delicious and apparently comes from an olive grove run by a family member in Italy. I send it to my brother every year for Christmas it’s that good. The sandwiches are also great and they have a really good lunch special. This is a great neighborhood spot especially in the east village which can get obnoxious with the bar crowd.

2 stars for good coffee, that’s it though. This is the third time I got food from them and this this is the third time my order was wrong. Maybe the cook or prep people do not know how to make a meal there without smothering the food in grease or oil(yuk). I do always ask for my food NOOIL, BUTTER, or GREASE… Easy request, considering 2 of my orders were sandwiches and today’s last and final thing I ordered from them was a mederterain salad. Asked for just vinegar(got a cup of ¾ OIL ¼ vinegar) ‚ NO feta cheese on salad, and squash totally SOAKED in OIL!!! $ 10.00 salad in trash,(now pissed off and eating a bag of popcorn for lunch) Hunny got penne ala vodka, which was pasta with a creamy butter sauce… I am starting to think they don’t give a hoot what you the customer wants, and they give you whatever they feel like making!!! Paradiso 3 strikes your OUT!!!;

Such a lovely place. I have been here twice. The first time, I had one of their«super» egg sandwiches, and the second time I had a panini and a salad. Both times the food was delicious. Flavorful, simple sandwiches, on good bread. The iced coffee is a little bit«meh» but the Americano I had was very nice. The atmosphere is sweet. It feels like it’s been there for a long time. Feels like a nice neighborhood joint — there are constantly people coming in who seem to know the owners very well.(Speaking of — the owners are really pleasant and seem to be happy folk.) It’s the kind of place where you can easily strike up a conversation with fellow patrons and chat a little bit. There’s just something really great about this place. It is peaceful, somehow. I can’t wait to try their pastas. I want to take my parents here and show them how much of a beautiful place Alphabet City has become.

Great small little spot right off Tompkins park. Food was very good and coffee was strong — not much more you can ask for in a place like this. Server/owner was super friendly and nice and even sat and talked for a few minutes. Service was a bit on the slower side for food, so not recommended if you’re in a rush, but coming in for sit down here you shouldn’t really be rushing. Just enjoy the atmosphere, the people watching and the food and you’ll have a great time.

Everything was really delicious. Our waitress the tall pretty Danish young woman was lovely! We had minestrone soup which was not overly salty but full of veggies and flavour, the Tuna dill salad which was nicely dressed, tangy and full of flavor, as well as the penne pomodoro! Definitely would love to go back! So happy we tried it!

I’m almost afraid to give them such a good rating because the place is small and lately I’ve noticed it’s getting more and more crowded, which usually means that soon it will be impossible. But– it’s fabulous! The food is excellent and prices are reasonable. There is a good selection of salads, sandwiches, pasta, desserts, so it can accommodate different tastes. It’s cute and clean, and the staff is always friendly.

HOMEMADETIRAMISU finally stopped in to grab a $ 5 slice of tiramisu to-GO —tiramisu: not bad, moist w/real lady fingers! but i like my tiramisu w/more mascarpone & rum flavor! if you give them advance notice you can also order a whole tray! NOTE: it’s a café you can study at during the week, BUT they ask that patrons not bring laptops to do work on weekends since the place is small!
