This store was great until the sales lady asked my method of payment and I told her I had a groupon, She was much less helpful after that and kept making comments about me only buying clearance fabric(im new so obviously im going to start out with the cheapest stuff I can find until I get better) and also when I asked about prices before groupon, red ticket items were half off, after groupon only some were half off. That being said, they do have some great fabric, and the lady who checked me out was very sweet. Im very new to sewing so ill probably check out some places surrounding this one, but I can’t say I won’t ever be back.

I found the selection to be a little more limited than some of the other well-reviewed fabric stores around the area. The two working there were very sweet though. The man cut me some very small samples to take for free. The prices were a lot better than the other places I visited before hand so I happily came back to actually buy a few yards from them. The woman at the counter charged less than what I was told in the aisle. Allowed me to save the Unilocal discount I had waiting on my phone. Or should I have not said that?

I love this store. Just started a dress making course and needed fabric for a skirt. And as always left it to the v last minute! The staff were v friendly and advised on different types of fabric and ended up getting this beautiful woven pale yellow thick cotton fabric which was at the annex and 50% off! Skirt came out fab and even teacher complimented me on the fabric. Can’t wait to visit again!

One of the shops I visited during my trip through the Garment District. It made a very good impression. The staff is very friendly, helpful, knowledgable, patient. Bolts are organized and what I liked most was the fact that the composition of the fabric and the price were indicated on each bolt. Most of them had samples hanging out. Easy to touch, to play with. Although this time I did not buy anything because I did not see something what I had to buy immediately, I am glad that I visited the shop. I will definitely come back to check what they have next time in store for me. Don’t forget to check out the popular Groupon deal.

Just okay fabric selection which is too bad as that’s all they sell. Notions are not sold here. The older gentleman who helped me and cut my fabric was okay, nothing extraordinary. The woman at the counter was very friendly and even discounted my fabric further. This wouldn’t be my first choice if I was looking for fabric.

I walked in here not by chance but divine providence — the lady was a bit distracted at the beginning but seemed to have a change of heart and was very helpful to find fabric in the shades I wanted. I found some other unplanned for fabric that was so beautiful and such great texture I got that too — great pricing. And when the guy cut the last bit of fabric leaving less than a yard, they gave it to me free!!! My shopping ended when I found Paron — sweet sweet folks. Now, I’ve a go-to place!

Need fabric? Don’t need fabric? Wanna kill time? Step into Paron * waves magic yardstick* I’ve loved this store ever since I moved here a million years ago, when their original location was on 40th street. This Paron is a merge of their Annex store, where everything was 50% off and their regular priced store. It’s a decent size, with designer silks greeting you at the front door. When I say designer, I mean Anna Sui(who’s altier is literally across the street), Nicole Miller, Ralph Rucci, Ralph Lauren, etc. You could literally recreate designer pieces for a fraction of the cost. I like it here because the prices are labeled… you know where the fabric came from and for the most part they have the fabric content. The staff has been around forever and are super sweet. They usually have crazy sales, like 20% off regularly priced fabric and if you buy almost the end of the roll of something, they usually give you a little more yardage. I come here first before I stop into any other place for fabric… that’s how much I love Paron!

Went with my biz partner to shop silks after seeing Paron on Unilocal. We got there rather late in the evening but still received the BEST customer service. The ‘older woman’ mentioned in some of the reviews… I think her name was Lucy was actually AMAZING!(Not sure why anyone else had a bad experience… I guess we all have bad days!). But she was chock full of knowledge, answered my 100 questions about silk, and made shopping very easy! I used a groupon that I bought on the spot(another great perk) and everything was easy breezy. Thx Lucy and team!

I cannot believe how sweet the woman working here is. I came looking for some pretty specialised cloth, and they didn’t have it(no surprise). The woman did try to help me find something similar that would work, and she ended up pulling down 4 – 5 rolls of cloth to let me feel them, test them, in general mosey over them. She even cut me samples of all of them before I could stop her — when I told her I was just going to buy some on the spot, she asked if I was sure(didn’t I want to look at the samples and think it over?) before agreeing and giving me a ridiculous discount. There are so many bolts of fabric in here too. Definitely recommend – I bet you will find what you’re looking for!

Situation: After being dissatisfied with the fashion retail market’s offerings in terms of styles that fit my body and taste, I took it upon myself to exercise my sewing skills and try my hand at creating some garments myself. After seeing all the raves about Paron, I came here to get some fabrics to make 2 dresses for work. I was thrilled to find that I was not disappointed, walking out with 3 lovely fabrics(1 yard of each) for a total of $ 26.00. PROS –Since I wanted to go for cheaper fabrics in case I messed up really badly(as this is a sewing experiment), I went straight to the«annex», or the back half of the store, where everything is 50% off. And much to my delight, it wasn’t full of heinous reject fabrics that nobody wanted. Great deals to be had. If I sew properly, I’ll have 2 custom dresses for $ 26 dollars?! Win. –Staff was very considerate and welcoming. After I had selected my first fabric I pulled the bolt off the shelf and was lugging it around. A staff member, a wizened old man, approached me and kindly offered to set it aside for me so I «wouldn’t have to waste energy». He then proceeded to help me pick my other two fabrics, cut, and price them out for me. Very prompt, and very friendly without it feeling forced. CONS –You should expect a warehouse-type environment. If you’re coming for fabric, and fabric alone, that’s what you’ll get. The store has little to no sense of décor, unless you enjoy the exposed duct basement aesthetic, but I suppose if that’s the price I pay for getting such good deals on the fabric I’ll gladly take it! In a nutshell… Go go go! Highly recommend, especially for crafty ladies who want to make their own clothes for much less than off-the-rack. Pay less and look fabulous in something that was customised for your body.

This was the second fabric store I’ve ever walked into. It was spacious and well organized. There were swatches of every fabric available for you to look at and touch. The staff was friendly and helpful. There was also a 25% off all fabric sale. I bought a piece of fabric that looked good but the more I look at it the more I’m not a fan of it so I’ll be returning bc of the great sale.

Great starting place for a first trip to the garment district(and probably subsequent trips). Helpful, knowledgeable staff, great selection, reasonable prices listed with full breakdown of fabric content on the label(many other stores don’t even list the price, much less the fabric content… you have to take their word for it.) A lot of things were 50% off near the back of the store, including some beautiful wool. So if something is $ 30+/yard, you can investigate the tag, which will probably explain why it caught your attention. Not the biggest selection of silk but they seem to have a little bit of everything. There is a small $ 4/yard section. Well-organized and plenty of space to move around, unlike many of the other stores. The staff seemed to be willing to work with the customer on pricing if that was an issue. Sorry I didn’t check Livingsocial or Groupon before I left… apparently they had a 50% off special going on. Oh well. I like what i got from there. Would definitely return!

I have nothing but love for this place. I’ve recently started sewing again after years and years, and I decided to try this place. The shopkeepers are very helpful and will explain the store layout and help you find what you are looking for. The store is medium-sized, I’d say, but well organized and the selection is pared down to high quality basics with a few novelty/printed stuff in. That thing at other stores in the district where you have to wade through bolts and bolts of fabric to find what you want does not happen here. All the bolts have tags with the price and composition of the fabric, so getting ripped off is next to impossible. Mood is downright overwhelming and chaotic next to this store. The 50% annex, as everyone else has said, is amazing and I haven’t bought regular priced fabric here yet. There’s no need to! I’ve bought gray and dusty rose georgette with a nice drape for $ 3.50/yd, a Thakoon kelly green fabric for $ 7/yd, and the most luxurious 100% red wool for $ 12/yd. I don’t think you could find these prices anywhere else. Tips for new shoppers: *If you grab the last bit of fabric from a bolt and ask for less than what is left, they’ll just give you the whole thing for the same price. I asked for 1.5 yds of that red wool and got about 2 yds, making my fabric just $ 8/yd.(In general, the shopkeepers are incredibly generous when cutting…) *If you’re a student, they’ll throw in a discount. I didn’t even need to show my ID and the shopkeeper knocked a few bucks off the total.
