My go-to place on the UES. The key: come for the prix fixe dinner, which I think they serve until 6:30. An excellent after-museum value. Duck confit and short ribs are two great choices. Food is rich, beautifully prepared and more than ample; by dessert you’ll be stuffed and happy. It’s the satisfying kind of food you crave and really *want* to eat, especially in winter. The room(downstairs at least) is delightful. Really a grown-up pleasure. The check won’t give you a heart attack and(science now tells us) the food won’t either, so for heaven’s sake indulge.

Cozzy place for lunch or dinner. Their soups taste homemade, healthy(not-cream based). THeir lamb is amazing. Three people in my party had the lamb chops and I had the lamb burger, which was moist, perfectly cooked and healthy. Came with pita bread instead of bun, green hummus, side salad and crispy potatoes. For dessert, the grand-marnier soufflé is A MUST!

Not so impressed. Recently come for lunch and had the prix fixe. Service was slow, slow, slow. Salad was tasty as were my short ribs entrée. Barely has room for dessert. However, I should never have to wave down a server EVERY time I need them. Only plan on going there if you have a few hours on hand. The food is good but you will be hungry by the time you pay your tab.

I liked this place from the moment I stepped in. After an enjoyable evening at the Cooper Hewitt museum around the corner, we stepped into this cozy neighborhood restaurant not really knowing what to expect. I asked the host for a table for 2 and started taking off my coat, causing my host to immediately started heckling me for my nerve. I knew we’d get along. We got to choose our table in the little space upstairs and were given crayons by our affable host before left with a menu of French fare. Perhaps the menu is drastically different for dinner compared to brunch or perhaps I didn’t study it close enough, but I didn’t think it was eclectic or nontraditional at all as other reviewers mentioned. My dinner companion and I split a bottle of smooth Pinot Noir which paired perfectly with our truly medium rare hanger steak and duck confit. Now let us pause here to reflect on the Duck Confit. It was divine. The juicy skin fell off the bone and the fat only served to intensify its richness. It’s the kind of dish that stops you in your tracks mid-sentence and smile. Oh the Duck Confit. Overall it was a great experience. You really few like you’ve discovered a local gem when you come here.

Wanted to like this place but sadly disappointed. Soggy potato gnocchi with mushrooms and a dollop of sour cream on a bed of dry mixed greens? Check the recipe again chef. Wine by the glass was expensive for a stingy pour considering what I was trying to wash down trying to be considerate to my friend who invited me here. I am easy to please but this was just yuck. Service was great, those two stars are only for the front of house effort.

I’ve been here before for lunch and this is a cute, affordable lunch spot on The Upper East Side. I’ve had the chicken curry and the ham and cheese sandwich, both of which are yummy. The service is okay, sometimes a little bit slow but very friendly waitstaff and decent size portions. The Prix Fixe brunch is the best deal, for about $ 19, you get an entrée, salad or soup, beverage and dessert. The ambiance is nice, you can actually hear yourself and your party speak and it’s relaxing but the lighting is a little dim. Fun restaurant!

This longstanding Upper Madison Avenue bistro is one of my favorite restaurants in NYC. It almost makes me feel that I don’t have to fly to France to experience dining at a neighborhood Parisian bistro. It’s so unaffected, so comfortable with itself, that you don’t feel that this is an ersatz bistro. The chef is accommodating to any dietary requests and the wine list is sophisticated but reasonably priced. I’ve been stopping in here for decades and am glad it’s kept true to its roots. I feel like I’m in Bordeaux when I eat here

Came here for brunch excited about French food only to find that there’s almost no French cuisine on the menu(Shu mai was a featured item). Ended up ordering the brunch prix fixe — good price for the package, especially since you have alcohol options in your choice of drink. Grand marnier french toast was overcooked. Coconut gelato was tasty. Service was great though and the atmosphere was quaint.

I had an AWESOME time at Pascalou this evening. The food was truly amazing. I had the soft crab app, rack of lamb for the entrée and chocolate soufflé for dessert. Everything was cooked perfectly, our waiter was Ryan was funny and very informative. Overall i had an amazing experience and will definitely be returing often.

This restaurant is fabulous and I mean fabulous! It’s an adorable quaint French place on Madison Avenue without attitude! Top top quality food! Price fixe lunch for twenty dollars. Had delicious dumplings with lovely mesclun salad to start off. Main dish was delish short ribs, homemade mashed potatoes and beautiful veggies. Warm rice pudding for dessert. Fresh and tasty with warm service. Owner keeps careful eye on you and is very very sweet. Best deal in town! It’s a hidden gem on the UES!

First, most importantly, the food: good but not great French-style fare. When I went with my mom they’d forgotten our reservation. It took almost 25 minutes after sitting down before we were able to order, and that was after we’d asked, «could we order now?» three different times. This was followed by similarly lagging service the whole time. The interior is so nice, I think this place could be a nice, little 4 – 5 star gem if they made the food more memorable and didn’t distract from it with the annoying service.

3.5 stars. A pretty decent little French restaurant on the UES, with a fairly eclectic menu(shumai? that has to be frozen, right) Nonetheless, the brunch menu was a pretty good deal — a lot of food, entrée and dessert, and a drink. We had the boeuf bourguignon(it’s a french place) which was pretty good, especially with the mashed potatoes, the BBQ ribs(I did say eclectic…), which were also surprisingly good, and the truffle and cheese omelette(OK). The desserts were also pretty good, though our pistachio ice cream was completely melted… and I’m not sure I was convinced when they told us it was supposed to be like that. But it was nice — décor, service and food.

The food, atmosphere, service at Pascalou were exemplary. For 18 dollars, the brunch prix fixe was a good bargain, especially for the quality of the dishes. If none of the pre fixe items meets your fancy, there are plenty of other choices to select from. Like most other French restaurants however, they do not have breakfast sausages. My «southern comfort» was ~6 diced cubes of short ribs that’s braised to perfection, with a satisfying tenderness. The browning of these glorious meats were as pleasing to the eye as to the tongue. The dish comes with toasts and a huge serving of mashed potatoes, which goes extremely well with the yogurt and mustard on the side. I also helped myself to some foie gras, which also went well beyond my expectations. We had a choice of bread pudding or fruit gelato for our prix fixe dessert. The gelato was a small cup serving but it was tasty and refreshing. The bread pudding was too sweet and I felt the bottom of the pudding was unbearably moist. I’ll give credits to our waiter, who switched out our overly burnt bacon. But I was also a bit skeptical when the teensy small side of bacon(2 strips) that eventually made its way to our table was 5 bucks. He ended our brunch on a high note with a free dessert for our friend who didn’t get the pre-fixe. I have had a lot of brunches prix fixe menus for under 20 dollars, but Pascalou is definitely up there when it comes to the attention paid to its brunch, with each dish well cared for.

My friend and I stumbled upon this place on a Saturday afternoon after searching for a brunch place in the UES. It’s a cute charming restaruant, french style bistro, with tables inside and outside. The front of the restuants opens up, which means you can sit inside but feel like you’re outside. It was fairly empty when we arrived, which made me a little skeptical. We both ordered from the pre fixed brunch menu, which included an entrée, a drink, and a dessert. I got the eggs benedict, a coffee, and a strawberry tart. They also brought out bread and olive oil which was a nice addition. The eggs benedict were okay, definitely not the best i’ve had. The strawberry tart was good and the coffee was meh. The service was lacking. I had to ask for my coffee a few times. It didn’t come until after i got my food, which was annoying. Overal, it’s a nice place but I wouldn’t go out of my way to eat here again.

We went to Pascalou for Sunday brunch. The restaurant is very quaint and has that nice French bistro charm. It was a beautiful day and they had tables both inside and outside. We all ordered prix fixe brunch at $ 18.00. This is a very good value as it includes a drink(Mimosa, White Sangria, Coffee, Tea, Juice, etc) an entrée and a dessert. I had the Eggs Benedict. This came with a nice side salad and everything was good. My daughter had the Croque Madame which was also goo but not great. For dessert we had coconut gelato with pineapple. Some in our party chose coffee instead of dessert. The service was very good and our waitress was extremely nice and pleasant. Pascalou is a good choice for a good brunch at a good price. It wasn’t great but still quite good. Michael J. Fox was also having brunch at a table behind us, and that made the brunch even more interesting.

I had the $ 18 prix fixe brunch, which comes with a drink of your choice. I got the Grand Marnier french toast because I was really craving something sweet even though it technically isn’t worth it as french toast is way cheaper than eggs benedict usually. The french toast was pretty good — nothing spectacular. I got a white sangria with it, which was also good, and the dessert of the day(strawberry shortcake) was delicious, even though I had something sweet already as my main meal. My main gripe is the price of the prix fixe — I would’ve liked to be just able to order the french toast a la carte. But I guess it’s UES — things are slightly more expensive. Service is pretty good, the tables outside aren’t as crowded and as dark as the ones inside, so definitely recommend sitting outside.

Went here for brunch with a friend. Stuffy…Dated…Cramped. These are a few of the adjectives that popped up in my head after first stepping in this place. Great start. Food was mediocre for the price. I got a lox eggs benedict and it was good. I finished my plate. But then again I always finish my plate. I didn’t hate my experience, but I’m likely not planning on being back unless someone else was excited about wanting to give this place a go.
