One of the best Italian bakeries in the city ever. Great assortment of pastries. The cannolis and chocolate mousse are the best. Very sorry to see this place in the village close. Their bakery in SI is open but that’s tough to get to.

Reminds me an Iranian Pastry shop, so delicious and cozy place to hang out with friends.

Passed by here after dinner while I was in the NYU area. Their counter selection looked pretty appealing. I picked up a mango mouse and chocolate mouse cake. Very flavorful and delicious.

Their version of the Rocher Ferrero chocolate, which they just name Rocher, is pretty good. It does taste a bit too chocolatey after a few bites, but they really do make it quite similar to the small golden nugget version. One of their staples is the cannoli. Very, very delicious. Their coffee and table service is decent.

The sign on the wall declared Bruno the winner of a NY cannoli contest, so that’s what we ordered. I’m grain-free, so I can only speak for the filling, which was truly remarkable! I also highly recommend the orange rinds dipped in dark chocolate, which were a wonderful combination of sweet, bitter, and chocolaty. Skip dessert everywhere else and come here!

This is a great Italian bakery. Lots of options when it comes to sweets. Everything from cannolis to cookies to cupcakes to gelato. The cannolis are filled when you order so the shell is fresh and crunchy when you bit into it. And the filling is creamy and delicious. They advertise that they beat Bobby Flay’s cannoli in a throw down and I’m not surprised. It’s good!!! I also really love their seven layer cookie. I think this is a great casual post-meal spot where you can sit back, relax, enjoy your coffee and pastry and pretend you’re in Italy.

This place is legit. They have baba here which are really delicious, just like some of the good ones back in Italy… lots of rum — yum! They also have their version of a cronut, which is freaking delicious, filled with nutella and topped with peanuts(there are a couple other types as well). Either way, it’s really large and really delicious. Definitely check it out.

I really enjoy visiting this bakery. Their baked goods are delicious and I recently discovered that they have a few gluten free treats. They include peanut butter cookies, biscotti, and marzipan! Their cakes are beautifully decorated and taste absolutely delicious. I would highly recommend them if you are tasked with bringing desert to a gathering. Their cannolis and marzipan are are also extremely delicious and I highly recommend them. The reason why I took one star off is because the takeout service is not that great. You have to basically run after them to get them to take your order. Plus some people don’t speak much english so it can be very confusing when you ask for one thing and get something else.

We stopped here on a Great New York walking food tour for a mini cannoli. The shell was crispy with the filling creamy and they were definitely made fresh for our arrival. However, I was very disappointed to find that the center of my shell was hallow. They only filled either end and not the middle! The place was a cute, but probably not somewhere that I’ll be drawn back to.

If you are a cannoli fan, this is a must visit for you. They had really creamy fillings and were very delicious. The location is conveniently located in West Village. If you are ever in the neighborhood, I’d definitely recommend to check out this cute store.

I am a fan of their cannoli. There’s a big sign that says they beat Bobby Flay in a cannoli throwdown and I taste why. I’m not even a big fan of cannoli, but I will have theirs — maybe two. They serve illy coffee and that’s my favorite. So I ordered not one, but two cappucinos(comes with a complimentary mini biscotti) and enjoyed the heck out of it. I tasted their chocolate croissant — it was standard, nothing bad, but nothing amazing either. I’m sure I’ve had others that have made my eyes big after a taste. I also tasted their almond and pear tart. The flavor of almond was definitely present and that’s a good thing for me. Yet, it didn’t win me over enough to recommend it. I do recommend trying their cannoli. I could be wrong, but I think they only have the classic plain flavor of the ricotta — not like other places that have different flavors. That’s OK, because if you get the classic one right, then I probably won’t even look for another flavor.

Italian Sweets Galore! I’ve been here twice and every time I’ve only had their cannolis which are out of this world! They’re so fresh and delicious! I tried ordering something different the 2nd time but I just couldn’t let go of the cannoli desire lol. I will definitely be back and try something different or take some goodies home.

This is a great Italian bakery! We stopped here as the final stop on a food tour and we had cannoli. The cannoli were really, really good and the addition of ginger in them was an interesting and refreshing touch. They have all the essential baked goods from babka and fruit tarts to fresh bread and rainbow cookies. I’ll definitely stop in again if I’m in the area!

Everything is cheaper at Rocco’s on Bleecker Street. Almost everything is better, too. They have some things that aren’t at Rocco’s, like serving different cake recipes all the time – especially layer cake – as well as macarons, but you’re really not missing out on much. The cakes and their fillings aren’t much to brag about, sfoglietelle is drier, smaller and pricier than at Rocco’s, and last time I tried the Lobster Tails they were filled with coffee-flavored cream for some reason. EXCEPT. The cannoli. I personally favor the Bruno cannoli to the Rocco cannoli because the cream 1) is smoother and fluffier, 2) doesn’t have such a cream cheese frosting texture, 3) tastes sweeter and creamier and 4) ITFILLSTHECANNOLI. If you go to Bruno’s, don’t bring a gun because you will definitely make like Clemenza and leave the gun and take the cannoli instead, possibly without even realizing it. I’m sure I can get a good, fresh, non-refrigerated cannoli somewhere downtown for less than 4.50, but I haven’t, and this I am happy that this IS the best I can find so far.

This Pasticceria has been family owned since 1973 when Bruno Bakery opened on LaGuardia Place. They specialize in occasion cakes, wedding cakes, and catering. They are home to the«Cake of the Century,» the Chocolate Pear Royal and AMAZING cannolis. –Cannoli: Now I don’t like cannolis but… this is delicious. It’s so creamy, sugary and buttery. The crust is also buttery and sugary and nice. Yum! I mean truly delicious! FINALVERDICT: Everything here looks delicious and I am no fan of Italian desserts. But based on my cannoli adventure, I’d be willing to try a few more some other time…

Lots and lots of tasty and beautiful desserts to choose from. If you want to keep it simple and classic… go for the cannolis. If you want to take a dive for it… go for one of their petite cakes. Whatever you choose, this place is sure to impress.

I had a mini plain cannoli here and while the ricotta was okay the cannoli shells tasted a bit stale which is a big no no. :/I’ll give this place a second chance but not a fan of stale cannolis. There is plenty of seating space and a long line of pastries that fill an entire side wall so there is plenty to come back and try from later.

My friend was in the mood for something sweet and was determined to satisfy her saccharine craving. Mind you, this was in the middle of a blizzard but the girl was on a mission. Since Bruno seemed to be the closest bet, we stumbled inside dazzled by the large selection of pastries, cakes, and confections in the display case. The intoxicating scent of warm butter and sugar filled the air as the women behind the counter were eager to assist us. I thought this place was as legit as any bakery you’d be apt to find in Little Italy or even Brooklyn. I spotted some Rum Baba in the opposite end of the entrance and I figured it would be a good choice considering I had heard amazing things about it from my friends while abroad in Rome. Missing my opportunity in Italy, I took advantage of it here. When I tried it back at my apartment, however, I was thoroughly disappointed. It was dripping in a syrupy mix of sugar and rum. I love when desserts have a taste of liquor to them, but not when I feel like I’m taking a shot of some as I consume them. It was far too overpowering to the point that when my friend tried it, her breath reeked of booze. It was inedible, in my opinion. My friend, likewise, did not enjoy her chocolate cream cheese tort. Both minuscule pastries, by the way, came in at a STAGGERING $ 9! Maybe we ordered the wrong things here, but it definitely made for an unpleasant sweet-tooth experience.

The cannoli deserves 5 stars! Everything else deserves one. I once got a red valvet cupcake there and it was so horrible that I actually took one bite and threw it away. I called to let them know that it was a bad batch and they just says«thanks, bye» and didn’t tell me to come in and get a new one or say sorry. Today I decided to try it again. I was craving a gooey pumpkin macaroon for fall, they didn’t have them individually so I bought an entire sleeve($ 12). I got home and took a bite of the first one. HORRIBLE, totally stale and crunchy and not gooey at all. I took a bite of each one in the sleeve and they were all spoiled. The lavendar one at the end even had collapsed on one side and totally changed consistency. I walked back over to tell them and to get my money back. They were BEYONDRUDE. The man said«no, these are good» I said I’m sorry, I actually tried them and I’m telling you they have been sitting in that box for over four days and aren’t good. He yelled at me and told me they were. I said«ok, with the way you handled that, you just lost a customer». I am sad because I previously loved their cannoli’s and ordered large quantities for my department OFTEN but now I will never ever use them again. You don’t treat people like that. Plenty of other bakeries in the city with FRESH stuff that admit when a mistake has been made.

Came here during part of my Chocolate Tour of the City and I noticed that this place takes A LOTOFPRIDE when advertising their cannolis. They have a huge banner saying that they are the«CANNOLIKINGSOFNYC» because they defeated Bobby Flay from the food network. I do have to admit, it was not bad at all! It’s crunchy and not soggy like some places. This way you know you’re getting it fresh.

I want to eat this entire shop up! I just had the Nutella bomboloni(Italian filled donut), but now can’t wait to try out the other pastries and cakes(and macarons)! This place is pretty awesome, and they’re currently offering 20% off for everyone affiliated with NYU! Tried out the Nutella bomboloni — absolutely delicious! The Nutella filling-to-bread ratio was relatively low and I’m usually not a carbs fan, but this pastry was delectable — it was just so warm, fluffy, and fresh, and tasted like it came straight from the oven! A lot of the time, I’ll just eat the filling and throw the rest away, but for this treat, I actually ate up all the bread as well because it was so good! Furthermore, the bomboloni had just the right amount of sugar sprinkled on top, while the Nutella chocolate-ness wasn’t overpowering. Looking at the other goodies, everything just looked so pretty, and I’d love to come back and try some more of their pastries!

5th stop of the chocolate tour. I don’t understand why Pasticceria Bruno is included in the tour. I will comment only on the shop. This review is based on my first impression to the shop, environment, service, and the FAMOUSCANNOLI! Yes. they have the best cannoli that I have ever had… they don’t display it so you have to asked for it. the huge one is 3.50… Fresh cream with chocolate bites. tasted like ice-cream and there is a light fruity taste in it… squeeze it into a small crusty shell… Mmmm… This explains why the cannoli won an award. the tour guide told me that her friends said the cannoli here tasted better than the one they had in Italy!!! OMG!!! I love all the dessert displayed. it looks really unique. and the macaroon looks great to me too. gelato seems to be really fresh with the right temperature. too many dessert to choose… if you choose to have a dessert break… you can come here and have a sit. they will serve you with really nice dessert. I don’t know much about the taste. lol. Service. was not that good… pretty terrible actually. but I am able to bare with it. the server was really rude to me and my friend. no smile. it kinda shows that she was really tired of serving a huge crowd. I really like the cannoli that’s why I gave 4 stars… I will have given more than 5 stars but Unilocal only allows us to rate up to 5 stars. I would have rated: cannoli: 6 stars service: 2 stars first impression on the desserts display: 5 stars environment: 4 stars 6+2+5+4=17. average will be 4++. fair enough. :)

My oh my, that’s one of the longest display cases of Italian-style confections I’ve ever seen(see photos) — amaretti, biscotti, decorative tarts, pinoli cookies, tiramisu cakes, colorful macarons — everything your sweet tooth could possibly desire after a hearty meal at Perilla in the West Village. For me, it’s lovely to look at but too overwhelming to try. I’m more savory than sweet — at least when it comes to exploring the taste buds in my palate. Besides, Jamie W. and I just had a great meal. It’s time for gelato. We went to town at $ 2.50 per scoop or at least I did. Two scoops, please. Mine was an odd mix — a tangy lemon sorbet on top of a cappuccino gelato in a little silver chalice like you’d see in an ice cream parlor circa 1957(see photo). We sat ourselves down at the last remaining café table since the place was bustling with tourists doing the same thing. We moved onto Washington Square where we watched a guy typing poetry on the fly and listened to wannabe musicians playing the Grateful Dead. It was a most satisfying ender for our dining extravaganza in Lower Manhattan. GELATO — 4 stars… tasty stuff on a warm New York summer evening AMBIANCE — 3.5 stars… miles of sweets and tables for two in a Euro-style café SERVICE — 3.5 stars… ah, the Italian boys in their tight suits TOTAL — 4 stars… hey paisan, I gotcha sweet right here!
