I have been seeing Cheryl for over 10 years, and let me tell you, she is a haircutting artist ! I love her and her work so much that I even had her do my hair for my wedding! Cheryl is SO talented! I highly, highy, highly recommend her to anyone looking to get a great haircut.

Being a hairstylist in NYC myself for over 16 years I sometimes dream of being able to take my head off my shoulders & sculpt away… I have dense textured waves & haven’t been in love w many cuts in my life. Cheryl masterfully chipped away & left behind a shape that will air dry perfectly & that has the power to make me a fan for life she cut some wet & fine tuned it dry which is why it felt very bespoke for my hair only!
The salon itself is minimalist chic w pops of color. It’s got a great energy & the music was extremely relaxing. They serve cucumber/​lemon water which I adore. Paul Fox was lovely to chat w & he even brought me chocolate croissant.
I loved being a client here & believe me my expectations r very high!
I rebooked my follow up apt which is another testament to my experience.

I had the best experience here! Would recommend Julia for coloring! Pleased from the moment I walked in because of the gorgeous design of the place – very open feel – and it is in a great location. Julia (who is wonderful!) gave me a consultation, as I was unsure exactly what I wanted and didn’t have the vocabulary to describe it well. I showed her pictures and we discussed and made a plan so I felt confident going into the coloring.
The process took about 3 hours so I was glad I brought something to read and at the end I was so happy with the final look! It was subtle, just like I had requested, but I could notice it just enough. Could not recommend this place enough!

The salon is so relaxing — spacious, perfectly renovated space. Mary made great color recommendations and worked perfectly with my hair, considering she had zero idea what dye had been previously in there. My color looks flawless, and I’ve received so many compliments. Cheryl was amazing — gave me a gorgeous cut despite the fact my hair was so thin after having extensions in on and off for over two years. She gave my hair shape, and it’s manageable too.
I would not hesitate to recommend to anyone looking for a great team, who are ego free and super talented.

F*CKING FINALLY! Do you know how LONG it has taken me to find a stylist and colorist in this freaking city? 5 year. 5 YEARS people. That is a LONG time to have hair that you are dissatisfied with.
First time I met Cheryl she told me something so simple about the way my hair grows and why it is so boofy at the back and fixed it — just like that. 32 years of having a back-​poof hair situation going on… and GONE. Solved. Crisis over
Cheryl is literally a hair wizard. She will cut it and style it and you will want to take her home with you so she can do it like that every morning.
Then there is Julia, amazing colorist who you don’t even need to explain what you want because she knows your hair better than you and BAM, perfect color. GOODBYE grey — hello highlights.
Best advice? Come here on a Friday or Saturday because damn girl you will want to rock out that hair in front of everyone as much as possible.

Cheryl is the best! I came to her through a referral and she exceeded expectations. I asked for a trim and to add some layers but Cheryl insisted that we look at pictures so she can understand the look I’m going for even though it was just a simple cut.
Turns out it really does make a huge difference because I left with Olivia Munn hair haha. I was slightly skeptical at first because Cheryl spent some time styling it to perfection but I was able to get it to look just as good myself the next day after a wash!

For almost five years, Julia has been transforming my naturally dark brown hair into perfectly-​highlighted, Jennifer Aniston blonde (my forever hair idol). I’ve never received more compliments on my hair in my life than I do now that she colors it – and the condition of my hair is still great even with all the bleach we subject it to. She is absolutely meticulous and thorough in her work in addition to being a total delight to spend time with. I always look forward to having some wine and posting up in her chair at the salon. The space itself is bright, modern and spacious, and everyone who works there is so friendly and professional. Love!

Looking for a colorist with a great eye who will make you look amazing?! Look no further than Julia Taffet at Paul Fox. I’ve been a loyal and frequent (every 6 – 8 weeks) client of Julia’s since she graduated from cosmetology school. Julia has a real attention to detail and is great at turning your vision into reality. Julia has a knack for covering up my unruly grey hair while also ensuring that my hair looks natural and fresh. I can’t tell you how many compliments I receive after a visit with Julia. On top of Julia being a great colorist, the Paul Fox Salon is awesome as well, a very chill vibe!

I’m absolutely thrilled with my bangs! Paul Fox is an artist with an eye for detail. This salon is a beautiful space centrally located making it extremely convenient anywhere downtown. So happy this spot finally opened, this is my new gem.

I recently went to this salon for the first time and saw Cheryl for my cut and Mary for my highlights. I have been to my fair share of salons in and around NYC and this was by far the best experience I have had. My hair came out amazing and the staff is just so friendly and down to earth. The atmosphere is light and the space is beautiful and clean. I will definitely be going back and making this my regular salon.

This is a follow-​up to a review I posted about this salon one year ago. I’ve been going to Mary for color, and she is amazing. Paul cut my hair today, and it’s perfect. It’s a lovely low-​key salon where they treat you well, a great change from the hectic uptown snobby salons.

Love, love this salon! I went for the first time in October since my colorist Julia left her previous salon. I obviously followed Julia and was also impressed by how friendly and professional the owner and other stylists are. It is a minimalist, modern salon that is also quite homey and it doesn’t hurt they give you a drink while you get your hair done. Highly recommend!

First time client of Mary’s (colorist). I only get my hair colored maybe twice a year, and lately it’s been hard finding a colorist that remains in a salon for my biannual appointment. So I googled best colorist for blondes, and Mary with Paul Fox Salon came up. She did not disappoint! She did an amazing job, so much so, that I’m trying to figure out ways to go back and see her – can you get your hair colored on a weekly basis. ;) Love Love Love!

Paul Fox Salon has everything you could ever dream of for a upscale unpretentious NYC salon. I can’t tell you how many people comment to me «you go all the way to the city to get your hair done?!» Well when you have Cheryl as a stylist and Mary as a colorist then YES!!! I’ll follow them anywhere! Cheryl really knows hair and even when I don’t go in for a cut she’ll give great advice on what I should be doing with my hair. Mary took my terrible ombré color and made my hair look shiny and natural and absolutely perfect. Everyone at the salon is an artist and you’ll walk out feeling the best and looking even better! I went to Paul Fox Salon for the first time. I was also getting highlights for the first time (after a Sun-​In disaster). Mary took care of me, she explained that what I wanted for my hair was a bit unrealistic and she did a great job giving me highlights, low lights, and a glaze. I came out feeling very natural and shiny and pretty. I did not have time to get a haircut but I was pampered and blown out beautifully.
The total cost for my hair coloring was $ 150 which is much less than I expected for the treatment they gave me and very inexpensive compared to other salons I looked at on the internet.

I have been going to Cheryl for almost 10 yrs now and I have to say she is hands down the best!!! I have been to others after because I moved out of the city and I always go back to her because she knows hair best… you will never find a better stylist!

I have been going to Cheryl for more than five years and I love her! In fact, I moved out of the country last fall and I am still holding out til my next visit to NYC to get my hair cut — it’s a credit to her that it is still looking great after several months! I have curly hair and had been getting some version of the same fine but boring long layers for years until I first went to Cheryl — she gave me a great updated cut and I haven’t looked back since. Now I know I can trust her to always keep my hair looking fab no matter the cut. It’s a total bonus that Cheryl is also a blast and always keeps me laughing.
So glad that they have opened this awesome little salon in Nolita. It’s a great space and the whole team is fantastic!

Paul Fox has been cutting my hair for over 7 years. Only one way to describe him: «Total Perfectionist».
I wouldn’t trust my hair with anyone else. Paul always pushes me to try new things without being pushy and pays the most detailed attention to every strand of hair. Not to mention being a great guy. Happy he finally opened up this place so more people can get the benefit of a truly committed stylist.

A friend recommended Paul to me because I was sad that my hair guy was transitioning to exclusively editorial work. Paul is great! My hair looks so healthy and feels amazing. Paul is really friendly and I felt comfortable alone in a salon with him. This place is JUST opening and I really wish Paul well. He mentioned hiring two staff people, including one colorist. I know he worked previously at Arrojo but I am not sure what else is in his background. Whatever it is, he is wonderful! I made another appointment for August and I can’t wait to see what he has done with the space by then!
