I’m giving this place 5 stars because the staff is so friendly and helpful. I love the vibe the second I step into the store and leave. I’ve never experienced all members of the staff being so friendly. As for the 5 stars, this 5 stars is for Payless shoe stores or I guess all shoe stores in general. They can only get so good but as for shoe stores and customer service, this service is extremely friendly and helpful. I also went in and picked out a couple of pairs in literally 10 minutes. At buy one, get one off, you can’t beat two comfortable pairs of shoes for $ 30. I used to get cheap sandals and shoes at H&M, Forever 21 and shoes like that but I’m going to go to Payless whenever I’m in a pinch for some last minute shoes. Specifically, I’ll be going to this Payless. As for the quality of the shoes, this is known as a lower end shoe store so you get what you pay for, and what you pay for is so little you can’t go wrong with whatever shoes you get.

First, I have to point out how impressed I am that there is a written policy that Military ID entitles our service men and women to a 10% discount automatically! I get all my daughter’s shoes at Payless and I am very impressed that the company as a whole has a policy in place to honor and respect those who serve our Country. Second, this particular Payless was fortuitously located across from Lord & Taylor’s where we had just experienced shoe disappointment and chaos. We popped in moments before closing, found shoes to go with graduation dress and were in and out in under 10 minutes. Store was already closed as we were paying but sales person did not rush us.

I wasn’t pleased with the service I received from the lady behind the counter at this payless. Your store is only as good as your worst staff member on any given day… I went to pick up an online order. I called previously, and got attitude from the lady because she asked me my name and I spelled it out for her(since people tend to butcher the spelling of my name often). She replies quite snippy, saying«You DON’T have to spell out your name.» Actually, I do because it gets misspelled often. Strike I. When I got to the store, she was terse and rude to the customers in front of me about certain items not being on sale. Dude, this is a recession, people are arguing for deals like their lives depend on it, because they do. Strike II. Anywho, it was the same lady I talked to on the phone. You could tell she didn’t want to be there doing her job. She went to get my items from the back. Brought the shoes out, but left them in the huge cardboard box. I was surprised, she asked if I wanted to try them on, cause I was definitely going to do so whether she asked me or not. Take away a ½ strike. Tried them on, but she only gave me the shoe boxes, no bags for them –_– So after trying the shoes on, I asked for bags. She puts the shoes in single flimsy bags that could easily rip. So I asked her for bags to double bag the shoes. She gives me the bags, doesn’t even double bag the shoes herself. Strike II ½. Average customer service? Me thinks not. I didn’t even say good, or excellent. Just average, and that wasn’t even achieved. Nice store setup though.

I had to write a review for this Payless… which is definitely a first — I’ve never reviewed a shoe store! The staff was INSANELYNICE! I have never been to a Payless with such helpful people. I’d definitely come back to this specific location.

This is a nice Payless(it was styled to look like a shoe boutique as opposed to a shoe warehouse), but the attitudes of the women who worked there were funky as I don’t know what. The one woman would not leave me alone, followed me through the store and was treating me as if I was going to steal something. The other woman, the one who rang up my purchase, rolled her eyes and sighed as if doing her job was an inconvenience to her. I couldn’t get over how snotty these women were. Yes, it’s on Fifth Avenue, but they’re selling cheap shoes, ferycryinoutloud, not Manolo Blahniks and Jimmy Choos. If I weren’t in need of a pair of flat, rubber-soled shoes in a hurry(it was raining that day and I had a lot of walking to do), I would’ve left without a purchase. They do have a decent collection of trendy shoes, but it’s not worth it for snooty service.
