April 24th review — We missed great service on Friday without the ladies(Jane & Devonna) being there. Not sure where they were but service was super slow and the boys just cannot multi-task like those ladies. They run that place like a well-oiled machine! Other customers were complaining amongst each other about the service. Customer service is superb while they are there. Whatever is going on I hope you guys figure it out! Bad service equals losing customers to other bars in the neighborhood. Bring back those ladies on Friday.

Yes I did drive ALLTHEWAYUP to meet a friend. The place was really crowded and was very upbeat. Ordered a kettle One and tonic and my friend had a beer. We’re HANGRY so we ordered a grilled cheese and fries. It was served quickly and we devoured it! Well look IF you happened to be up here in the boonies, then definitely stop in for a cocktail

Woohoo, Piper’s Kilt! This is my boyfriend’s favorite neighborhood place. We go here often for food and even more often for drinks! There is a bar side and restaurant side to the establishment, but you can eat at the bar too and watch the many games they have on the tv’s. It’s usually mixed crowd in terms of age at the bar which is nice. For an appetizer, definitely go for the«Irish nachos» if you’re in the mood for something greasy and delicious! You can never go wrong with a burger here. They are always cook to perfection, however I wish they toasted their buns as they’re usually soggy on the bottom. This places promises great food, great beer, and great fun! Obviously an Inwood classic.

I don’t understand why people say the burgers are so great. They are horrible. The mac and cheese was good, but for everyone to say how great the burgers are blows my mind.

I love this place. It’s exactly what you want in an Irish Pub. Divey, has food, quenches your after work needs in a casual way. The food is great, the staff does pretty well, and the beer is good. Nothing but good times.

I have been coming to Piper’s Kilt since the wing night was 10 cents a wing lol now that I have given away my age… The food here is amazing! I have always been particularly fond of the wings, basket of fries and the French onion soup. The wings have a nice spicy kick to them(I pair my wings with mimosas no matter what time it is). The fries are so crispy and fresh and the French onion soup is very flavorful and has tons of cheese and onions like a good onion soup should have. My husband enjoys the turkey burger as well as the wings and fries. This is a must visit spot if you are in the area and looking for great bar food! Make sure to catch the happy hour for cheaper drinks ;)

Wow, cannot believe the service we just recieved here. Awful. I had been there before – and liked the intimate atmosphere and irish pub theme– and decided to bring my fiancé. We were looking for a place with burgers and drinks. We were excited to do it here! But when we sat down and ordered drinks, the waitress asked for our IDs. Fine. I look very young, and my fiancé is 30. I get it, they have to ask. But my fiancé is from another country and only had his national ID– not his passport. His national Id has worked in a few bars, as it works in BANKS, etc., but it didnt work here. I understand if they only accept passports for non-nationals. Thats fine. While we were thinking of what to do(i thought we could have some burgers and just get drinks later), she essentially tells us to LEAVE. She kept saying«youre welcome to leave. Like I said, youre welcome to leave». She put us in a situation that we felt like we couldnt stay in. She didnt offer him a coke or a water instead – she just told us to leave. It was incredibly rude and I cannot believe she suggested we get out before offering us an alternative!!! She waited by the table until my fiancé and I looked at each other awkwardly and got up. She didnt give us a chance to even discuss it, just looked at us saying, you can leave, you can leave. WOW. I have never been kicked out of a restaurant or bar before. Could not believe it! We felt so uncomfortable and unwelcome. Not sure if this was an instance of discrimination or just plain bad service, but I cant see myself going here again. A shame.

I give it a three because the burgers are ALRIGHT and some things just doesn’t seem fresh to me. The mash potatoes are straight out of a box. The burgers doesn’t seem to have flavor. I mean I can come back again and try it but I tried it twice when I was on a burger crave and it didn’t meet my expectation.

A local watering hole that is on the verge of becoming a dive bar. The burgers are great. The crowd friendly. Can be pretty loud. Kids are welcome. The Piper’s Kilt has survived the test of time becoming a go to in the Inwood community, but a few newer places have started opening within a few blocks that have upped the ante especially in the kitchen. Pipers Kilt is a good burger and beer place that is very casual. The new joints have more diversity in the menu with good presentation and a less worn feel. Keep in mind that Inwood had a strong Irish presence. Which as with most neighborhoods in New York continues to change and Inwood is becoming very diverse. The gin joints in Inwood have been there a very long time and are becoming less popular as the clientele evolves. Piper’s Kilt Rock On!

This place is great. The waitresses & bartenders are all friendly, the burger & fries are great. Bare bones though, unless you ask for extras you’re just going to get burgers & fries. Thats it. No pickle, tomato, lettuce, etc. The wings are great. A lot of the old bars up there closed, this is one of the few left thats still around. Definately best bar in the area. Edit-been back a few times gave em an extra star. THEBEST burgers & fries.

I brought my friend here last weekend to convince her to move to NYC. I tried to think of a million other places, but I was like — you know, if I just feed her a big, juicy burger at the PK — she’ll come for sure. She not only loved it, but loved Inwood. This place has excellent, excellent food — it’s a pub — it’s not fancy, and that’s good. Everything is solid and delicious!

I’m sitting here now, just having eaten lunch with my wife. Mir seems packed, which is why I’m shocked that: Chili: schmeh French onion soup: not good. Iceberg wedge salad: bacon rubbery, lettuce not good. Buffalo chicken wrap: ok Fries: ew Next time I consider this place, I’ll consider anorexia instead. And it’s packed!!!

The burger here IS pretty good. If you were looking for an Irish pub & the non-pretentious experience, you will definitely find it here. Easy to get to, staff was friendly enough and food was pretty good and filling. I’d return.

Wanted to celebrate my move to beautiful Inwood, Went in for a burger, fries and a beer. Was carded by the large masculine appearing female bartender. I do not have a NYID so I presented my passport. The masculine female bartender told me I couldn’t be served the beer because I didn’t have a scannable Id. So I asked to order a burger. I was told I couldn’t be served that I need to leave . I Don’t know why I was denied service and not accommodated for the food. I do not know if it was because of the ID, Beer or because I was black . I do know I will never go back nor will I recommend this place to any of my friends or any one else.

Sad that they don’t take phone orders anymore, since someone ordered for pick up and never showed up :( Welp, looks like it’s on to the next one!

Cozy neighborhood bar that has regulars and doesn’t care if your knitting group hangs out all night as long as you keep ordering Guinness, burgers and onion rings. All of which is not a problem. They keep the kitchen open pretty late, 11pm, which is great if you want a late night bite to go with your beer.

There is a sign that states that they have the best hamburgers in Manhattan. I can not deny that they do make an excellent burger, as I’ve tried a few kinds there. They are no frills: the cheddar burger doesn’t even come with lettuce, onion, or tomato, just a perfectly chargrilled piece of perfect burger. I could eat a million burgers there.(Though, I’d probably space out my portions. Haha.) The service, though? The last time I visited Piper’s Kilt was on the 4th of July, when the beau, his friends, and I wanted some burgers for dinner. We entered to a bouncer checking IDs in an electronic reader. My beau, who is handicapped, needed to use the restroom. He would not let him enter until his ID was scanned, and the machine kept erroring on him. I understand the importance of checking IDs, do not get me wrong there. That being said, he is 29, looks about 10 years older than that, and was a handicapped person ready to patronize the restaurant with an immediate need to use a restroom. I’m sure it didn’t bother him, but it bothered me. I greeted him in my usual friendly manner(despite being a bit peeved at him), and he did not make eye contact. Our waiter was awesome and wicked friendly, when when it came time to get our check, he was busy with another table. No problem! Another waitress was working and occasionally checked on our table. When one of our friends got her attention for the check, she looked at us, paused, and said, «Oh, I thought you needed something from me,» and just walked away. I’m still not sure what happened there… haha…but it took us a while before she gave it to us. Finally, when I was calculating my tip for my meal, I was talking slightly aloud, curiously querying if my bill was correct because it seemed a dollar or two too high. She overheard me and stated, «No. It’s right. Trust me,» with a bit of a snap to her voice. I was a little taken aback, admittedly. Maybe I’m just a sensitive person. Ha! But between the bouncer and that waitress, I’m weighing my options of when I want to come back, despite them having burgers that are droolworthy.

Everyone has that inner desire for a local pub– that place you can go to when you are by yourself and want to spill your woes to the ever gracious bartender, where you can chat with locals about the goings on, where you can throw back a shot of fireball on a cold winter night, or where you can indulge in fries post bar-hopping with friends. Piper’s Kilt is the epitome of such a pub. As my good Irish luck would have it, Piper’s Kilt is just around the corner and I ventured here over Christmas to a festive and fully decked out pub teeming with friendly regulars, a welcoming bartender(Katie), and solid bar fare. It boasts a happy hour with cheap prices but take note that they are brands you have never heard of. Georgi Vodka, anyone? Even so, the regular drinks are decently priced and yes, my friends and I were treated to that free fireball shot. Their burger is renown but not partaking in a carnivorous lifestyle myself, I was happy to see a build your own salad option complete with avocado, artichoke hearts, and other delicious mix-ins. Great choice for a bar! That’s not to say that I haven’t had some deliciously cheesy mozzarella sticks there, which were served with a warm and delicious marinara sauce, but hey, at least the healthy option is there. I highly recommend Pipers Kilt whether you live in waaaay upper Manhattan or not. Nothing beats that quintessential local haunt.
