Seafood Paella was bland and nothing cooked together. Old seafood and saffron rice hardly tasting. Clearly not salted by «chef». Uninteresting. Nice server

Grossly overpriced and the food was decent to bad. $ 9 for 2 sticks of 2 ham wrapped dates? Come on. They brought me a $ 16 pear salad without dressing, they were out of tortilla, which is a pretty basic tapa, and the other tapas were largely mediocre. Take airport food prices and quality, then add tapas pricing in the US which is always outrageous, and you have a terrible mix for hyperinflation and disappointment. Spent $ 80 for what turned out to be a very light lunch for 2 without dessert or anything but water, and then went to another place and ate again because we were still hungry.

Poor morning service. Everyone is busy running around, but not doing much, just running around. Waiters are not friendly at all. My husband said the breakfast was good though. I did not eat.

A Spanish restaurant in an American airport? I had to try this one! Good wine list and beer list with wine heavy in Spain(obviously) and even bottled Estrella beer! There were a few glitches in the menu as I wouldn’t classify chimichurri sauce as Spanish. The bocadillos were delish and the patatas bravas as good as any on Madrid. Good choice for a sit down wait for your departure kind of place.

A bit of a mixed review since the wine was good and decently priced and the service was fine. However ordered the garlic shrimp and received literally three pieces of shrimp on a plate for $ 13. Three! When I asked the bartender she said it was a tapas restaurant, yea um I’ve been to plenty of tapas restaurants that give you at least 8 shrimps, small plates is not an excuse for rip off. Anyhow good for the wine but I’d suggest getting food somewhere else.

This is by far the best breakfast option in terminal 5. The food is very good, fresh but that comes at a price. I had the breakfast quesadilla, egg bacon and american cheese(side of guac and pico). It also came with breakfast potatoes, very good. At $ 5 a glass for fresh OJ with the quesadilla it was right at $ 20 without a tip. They did have a few cheaper options like a bagel with cream cheese, I think that was $ 5. The service was prompt when we sat down but slow following, I would recommend a min 30 minutes to spare from the time you are seated. There was a Dunkin and a Starbucks in the area as well if you want to go that route…

Piquillo is definitely one of the better airport restaurants out there; I think that airport restaurants should be judged separately due to the limitations airports impose on them, especially speed of service. Therefore, this restaurant earns four(airport food) stars for its above average food quality and menu selection. When I’m departing from JFK, I like to order the cheese plate. You can pick five cheeses from a list for $ 25. They are all delicious and unique. The cheese plate comes with a fruit spread, raisin bread and a balsamic glaze drizzle. They also have dried, spicy salami available for purchase. Piquillo has a selection of sandwiches, as well as a column of cold tapas and hot tapas. I’ve liked everything that I have tried. I especially like the chorizo and shrimp. It is definitely one of the best options at JFK! The servers are always friendly and the food is served quickly!

This is possibly the worst tapas I have ever had. The gambas were cold, the cheese outnumbered the bread five to one and the esperallaga had canned not Serrano ham. Spend $ 30 on something anything else. I prefer chicken nuggets. Not to mention the terrible service.

Ok jamon serrano sandwich and boquerones. The onion soup is too watery and bread is excessively soft. Tortilla española was burnt and the paella croquettes tasted like liquid soap. Two small bottles of Peregrino and ended up paying $ 60. Will not recommend.

I’m writing this review while sitting at the bar of this place. Very disappointing. Normal price range, decent wine list, but horrible quality of food. My friend recommended this place saying her experience here was awesome few years ago. Omg maybe something went wrong in the past year. I have ordered tuna ceviche — it was fishy, not fresh, not organized. Served on a small plate with a bunch of tuna chunks, cubes of cucumber, and mago sauce poured on them. I saw few photos posted here in Unilocal — that must be few months or years ago. Dont expect it anymore. Told my server that I wouldnt finish ceviche and ordered instead small bites(one cheese and one ham). Cheese/meat plates were just ok, though pieces of bread served on side were disappointing. Just a glass of wine is enough. Dont order food.

Hands down, the best experience I have had at an airport restaurant.(Please note the that this is 4 stars for an AIRPORT restaurant. I’ve never met a 5 star.) My husband and I had time to kill, and terminal 5 at JFK had a pretty good selection of restaurants. When we saw Wine Bar/Tapas, we thought, what a Tapas/Wine bar in an airport? Sold. We were immediately seated and the server, who had a cute, bubbly personality, immediately brought us 2 glasses of cabernet and 2 glasses of water-Very good. 3 cheese plate(Valdeon, Cana de Cabre, Tetilla)-good Meats of chorizo & soppressata-chorizo good, sopressata average Piquillo peppers(smoked goat cheese, grilled scallions, olive oil)-very good Chorizo-Sauteed(sauteed shrimp, chorizo, roasted peppers): we liked so much, we ordered 2 Pimientos de padron(blistered shisito peppers, sea salt)-a little soggy, but it was good and we ordered 2. Husband also tried the Sangria, too sweet for me, but he liked it Service had been super fast, but then the server changed and we had too long a wait and had to rush our 2 last plates to make our flight. Plus, we spent way more than expected. But worth it, knowing we had a 6 hour flight.

Four stars for the food, three for the speed(s l o o o w). But you have to say, JetBlue at JFK is still the most civilized place to change planes I know. We shared a(fairly small) asparagus salad, nice and crisp with ham and onion; I had salmon ceviche, great, and relatively generous, my husband had artichoke salad, again fine. Only prob is we waited 20 min for 3 cold dishes. But the people watching is not to be beat, as you’re sitting on a main thoroughfare. Nice.

While the food at Piquillo is great and tasty, it is the people who work here that make the restaurant great. Awesome service by Alexandra and her manager, Lamont. They were great hosts, and really took care of me on my way through JFK. I left something personal behind at Piquillo and I didn’t realize it until I was on my plane. The next day, I got in touch with Lamont and he personally tracked down the item. He was awesome, and I cannot say how much I appreciate how helpful he was and that he genuinely cared. It is a stark contrast to the impersonal service you get elsewhere. Hopefully OTG reads this and gives Alexandra and Lamont the recognition they deserve.

Seriously. Don’t do it. This placed used to be a reasonably solid option for a meal at JFK. Tonight, perhaps they were having an off tonight. Or try just don’t care even one little bit. Starting off– takes ten minutes to even get a menu, and then the one and only staff member disappears. What would happen if I was under a time crunch? Finally get attention, and I order three simple things: a glass of wine, shrimp ceviche, and the skirt steak with scallion mashed potatoes and chimichurri. The only thing that came out correctly was the wine. The ceviche was basically shrimp cocktail with vinaigrette and an enormous pile of micro cilantro. It was totally missing the advertised cucumbers. And just was weird. The steak. Ok. It’s not that hard to do a mid-rare stake with mashed potatoes and some sauce. First, they were out of the potatoes and subbed French Fries. Ok, I may not be happy but can live with that. Then the steak was well done. And I had to ask three times for the chimichurri. Not impressive. Finally– I just wanted a glass of water before boarding my connection(90 mins later). The waitress who has been largely MIA the whole time, is texting. Looks annoyed when I ask her for water, twice, and PLACESHERPHONE in the silverware prep tray on the bar. I never get the water, and she gives me a look when I ask her to take her phone out of the tray and off of the plastic knives they were providing us to eat with. Yeah. Don’t eat here. I’d eat at McDonalds before I came back to this spot.

Prices are good and they have a good variety of tapas on their menu. Had some cheeses, paella(too salty), dates con jamon, and mango tuna ceviche. The dates were my favorite. Service is very, very slow. If you are at a table, you will have to go up to the bar to order because they will not come around to you. And when you go to the bar to look for someone, everyone would be hiding in the back. Service here needs to step up.

Made me VERY happy prior to my flight home to Los Angeles. Anchovies, olives and a lovely glass of wine healed me nicely after battling through security. My new ritual.

thought this was great. we got some GREAT wine. my boyfriend got the spanish white— first one on the list dont remember the name or type but it was 13 a glass. he drinks lots of good white wine and said this was the best hes had in a long long time. i thought it was good too but too dry for me… soooo i got a reisling. or two hehe. we ordered some tapas— octopus, good but not the best ive ever had(but my boyfriend LOVED the accompanying beans) we got a cheese plate which was great beacause, well… CHEESEEEEEEE and got the jamon wrapped dates. which i loved and could eat everyday(which i basically do… minus the jamon. im a date fanatic) long story short it was a great meal before we boarded our 5 hour flight(though we did still have room for those blue chips Jet Blue stuffs down your throat. all in all it was great. worth a try

I can’t recommend this place. I ordered the olives and the waiter essentially went back to the kitchen and dumped some costco kalamata olives on a butter plate and handed them to me. Not worth the $ 4.

This is the nicest airport bar I’ve ever visited in years of extensive travel. The prices are basically decent city prices(not airport prices) and the food and wine are great! The staff is upbeat, sincere and friendly. Really fantastic. I absolutely recommend this spot. I can’t give it 5 stars simply because it’s in an airport and there’s no way to fully immerse oneself in another atmosphere and escape the terminal. I’ll be here again for sure.
