Very sub par pub food at Playwright. I wouldn’t have gone to an Irish bar in midtown if it was my choice(which it wasn’t) and would never go back. The food was a complete waste of stomach space, money and calories. Note to others, eat outside of midtown if you are seeing a Broadway show nearby.

We went here after a show last night. The Sangria is the only reason this place is getting any stars at all. I work about 5 blocks away from here in the same industry, so I know for a fact that you cannot gratuity tables of 4(there were 6 of us but only 2 drinking water), especially because we were just drinking we did not eat here. I am so annoyed that they gratuitied us, as I know it’s illegal. The service was beyond poor, whenever our waitress came over she was snappy and rude. We were left waiting for drinks. They would have gotten a much better tip if they’d not cut the corner and assumed we were tourists. So disappointed I will not be back. They should be reported for this.

Food was surprisingly really good and service was quick. Our waitress was amazing, made our experience there that much more enjoyable! I was told we would have to go away from time square to get good food but we were really happy we ended up going here! So good, recommend it to anyone who is staying close to time square or in the area.

No stars. My husband and I came here when we saw happy hour deals. Our waiter barked orders at us and pointed where to sit. When we realized that we did not want to get food we moved to the bar and he and the bar tender were disrespectful. Never will I come here again and I don’t suggest going upstairs.

I was there with my brother few days ago. The restaurant has few floors, we were at the second one. There are two areas for dinner and bar. The hostess asked where we would like to sit, so we choose first one, because we were really hungry and came here not for drinks. The food was good and portions were really big. I ordered Irish Lamb Stew and it was huge and tasty. Our waiter Francisco(I think it was his name) was friendly and attentive. Overall I had a great experience.

Stopped in here to kill some time with my son before catching ‘Curious Incident’ on Broadway. Was the night before St. Patrick’s Day so it was crowded. Service was slow and we stuck to the bar food, chicken fingers, etc. Busy and noisy, bit of an older crowd. No problems, but not special.

Very impressed with the attentiveness of the service for a busy Saturday afternoon. Prompt service and short wait time were great. The food was very delicious. A corned beef sandwich and special request were delivered perfectly.

Ate here today before our Sat. matinée. Good food, quick service and responsive to my gluten free needs. We just stopped in off the street and were pleasantly surprised. Great Mai tai too! My husband had a chicken pot pie and while I could not imbibe the crust looked light and flakey and delicious. My portobello and burger was done just as I asked and our coffee was great too. Our server was very knowledgable about what products contained gluten. Great lunch choice before a show.

Absolutely horrible daytime bartender. Not only did she walk past me 3 times as I stood at the bar with the menu in my hand but when my brother went to the other end of the bar to try to order from her she said«you need to order at the bar»…hello where are we standing. No tip for that shady broad. There was also a man behind the bar who walked past us numerous times. She then proceeded to do a silverware service set up for the people sitting at the bar while I waited even though their food had not arrived. 10 minutes later their food is still not there but we had to wait. I can only assume that it’s because we are black because the 2 white gentlemen who entered after us got a warm greeting upon entering the door. Been here before but never again!

Pretty crowded on a Saturday night for dinner. We went to the bar while we waited to be seated and the owner came up, introduced himself, chatted a bit and offered to buy us a round of drinks, I thought that was very nice and generous! I tried a honey whiskey drink from their cocktail menu, which was good followed by their tomato basil soup and turkey dinner from a daily menu, both were delicious! The very upstairs dining room was chilly but besides that it was a good dinner, lots of tasty sounding options on the menu.

I will first start by saying that I would never eat around Times Square intentionally, but shit happens. In the case that shit is happening to you, this pub isn’t all too bad… I’d venture to even say good. We were seated immediately during peak lunch hour on a holiday weekend – right away major points for offering us food with under an hour wait time. The menu is standard bar fare so we ordered just that… wings and burgers. We were all very impressed by the crispiness and flavor of the wings(nice heat to sweet ratio), and our burgers were properly cooked and well seasoned. The waitstaff went out of their way to rush our orders knowing we had very little time before catching a nearby show. While I wouldn’t plan to dine here in advance if you’re in a pinch pursuing Unilocal you’ll have a solid meal!

Beer deal on sign out front not offered on first floor. Climbed to the 3RD floor where it was supposedly being offered to find it was not. I used to like this place a lot, but it has gone downhill.

Hmm. For being in the middle of everything touristy I was saddened. The menu showed nothing that was new. Service was prompt but impersonal. For a Saturday night my friend and I were placed amongst a sea of a white haired crowd. There is nothing young, hip or New York about this place. It honestly seemed like a place to take your parents. We only ordered drinks, 12 bucks a piece which I won’t complain since we are in the city but WOW, I felt like I was drinking fruit juice. After our sip we asked for the check. Overall? Just no.

This is your typical midtown pub. Three floors(maybe more?), if you want drinks only, head to the second floor since the ground level is for people eating dinner. We ended up getting apps with our drinks. The calamari was crunchy, wings were good, chicken fingers were delicious. Also, those plates are huge. Between the three of us, it was basically a dinner. Service was attentive but average. Water glasses were kept full so that’s nice. They have wet naps, so ask for them if you’re getting wings since they don’t just give them to you.

Nice bar, great for happy hour. Draft beer is $ 5 during happy hour and they have a good selection of bar food. During happy hour, this is a good place, but I wouldn’t stay for a long time because it gets crowded very quickly and there isn’t very! much space. There are few tables for groups and there isn’t much standing room Other than the space issue, this place will offer you a great experience.

Place is super cool looking. Nice staff. Food: the complimentary Bloody Mary was basically cheap vodka mixed with ketchup and black pepper. I ordered the Seafood Pasta and half of the clams and oysters were still shut(which means that the seafood was not thoroughly cooked). I don’t bitch about food and I decided to still champ through and make the best, you know, order dessert… The bottom of the pie was still raw. It was just uncooked dough. I couldn’t do it.

Started with chicken wings. Cooked fully, good flavor, the right amount of heat, healthy portions. So far, good. Guiness didn’t seem so fresh, the glass was odorous, can’t describe the scent, stringent perhaps! Switched to Bass Ale, much better! Both were drafts. Fish n chips, well I asked the fries to be prepared crispy, the we’re not and greese laden. I told the waitress, that I asked for them to be crispy and showed her, the light greese fries. She stated she asked for them to be prepared crispy, and that is all I got. No remake or apology. The fish was caked in way too much batter, not the best I’ve had, the portion was two large pieces of fish. I’ve been here several times before, and usually pop in after a show, but this time, I was disappointed. I paid my check, left a decent tip, however, not sure if I will try this establishment again in the future. Sorry!

Times Square bar that does not feel like a touristy Times Square bar. Good quick bartenders. Typical bar food. And cold beer.

I like it. Comfortable. Clean. Efficient bar tender and fun, traditional atmosphere. The beer is cold. The comfy booths are in the lower level in the back. After the kitchen was closed they let us bring in street food! #freedom. Love that!

With so many places to choose from in NY this wouldn’t have been my first choice of venue, but after walking for miles some members of my party were in desperate need of a pit stop and some beer, so were lured in by the Irish appeal! We sat upstairs and got a fairly good stool seat looking out to the busy street and bus tours below. The waitress was friendly and we ordered some beers and Diet Cokes while we recuperated and browsed the menu. With a good range of sandwiches, burgers and mains its fairly standard fare and I wasn’t really thinking it would be up to much. I opted for a veggie panini — grilled veg in a nice flatbread served with chips(which I swapped for salad). The bread and veg were tasty enough and the salad was huge. My dining companions opted for sliders with sweet potato fries, a chicken wrap with fries and a burger. Portions were huge and both my mum and sister struggled to eat the lot– the waiter kindly wrapped the second half of my mums wrap for her to take back for later. It wasn’t overly busy, which for us was good — getting out of the bustle of the city for a while. On the whole it wasn’t that special but certainly filled a gap, although I probably wouldn’t rush back if I’m in NY again.

Bön burgers et serveurs agréables, malheureusement la musique(commerciale) est beaucoup trop forte et en gâche le repas.
