The décor is adorable. Food is quintessentially Italian. The staff takes car to make you feel welcome.

Scrumptious! So mom requested Italian cuisine and I was very hesitant to try any new restaurants. A lot of these Italian restaurants in the city are not authentic! But boy was I wrong! The service was superb, the food from the antipasti to dessert was amazing. Tasty and not quenched in thick heavy sauces. My only dissatisfaction was the cappuccino. It was too strong, not a typical cappuccino. Felt like we had an espresso. Besides that, we enjoyed everything. Well worth it.

I enjoy the ambiance of dining at Pomodoro Rosso, but the food is maddeningly uneven. Many times the food’s very good, but on other occasions it is mediocre. I do like that the food is not spicy. Dinner for two can easily exceed $ 150-$ 160.

This is where you go when family and friends and food are the foundation and Italian comfort food prepared with love is the mission statement. Can’t find a better team or better experience.

I try to come here every time I visit. Absolutely fantastic food and impeccable service. Love the mussels and fusilli Arribiata! Will definitely be back to this gem on the upper west side.

Located in the heart of the UWS you wouldn’t think this Italian restaurant was anything special. After all, the UWS is known for their dogs, babies, quietness, only 2 rats(Fred & Ruth), but definitely not the quality of fine dining. But then there’s Pomodoro. Quite possibly the best restaurant on the UWS and best Italian spot in the city! My go to plate is the Fusilli Lunghi Arrabbiata. It’s the best cure for a hangover or solution to Saturday night dinner. This dish is a splurge of spicy red sauce, just slightly creamy, with heapings of seafood made with the freshest of fresh pastas. They say that Pomodoro is the spot where everyone goes to break up. I say Pomodoro is the spot you should go to if you’re looking to fall in love with the UWS.

Went for dinner with old high school friends. The food was great. I had eggplant parmigiana my husband had fish. Serving size was more then enough. Price is reasonable for UWS. After we all finished we did not feel rushed to leave and got to sit and chat. Staff was very nice and friendly. Will be going back again.

Once thought this was a find but NOMORE. Recently found a hair in my salad(which I ignored) then a looong hair in my entrée. Told the waiter and his reply was«no one in the kitchen has long hair». After the manager spoke to him, his ongoing«consideration» wasn’t too improved or helpful. Did get a free and replacement meal — but by that time my colleagues had completed their meal and my stomach was not ready to accept the replacement, and we had to make curtain. Sent an e-mail but owner’s reply wasn’t very warm so I never answered it. So Pommodoro is off our list.

I came here on a date a few weeks ago and we were both incredibly disappointed by the service here, so much that it ruined our experience. I’ve never felt so rushed in my life. We ordered cappuccinos to sip on to end our meal, and at the same time the waiter put the check on our table, which was ok. Except that he came by every few minutes to check if we had put a card down yet, and made it very clear he was annoyed that we were taking so long to pay — keep in mind we were still sipping on our cappuccinos! Incredibly rude. We decided to camp out at the table to spite him. I will NEVER come here again.

Great service and great food. The bread was warm and toasty. I had the spaghetti and meatballs without sausage and I was pleasantly surprised how flavorful and tasty the entire dish was.

Cute neighborhood spot, but sadly the food is sub par. I’m being generous with the three stars. After dining here twice, I’ve come to the conclusion that I can make better pasta at home. It pains me to give this family-friendly and probably family-owned restaurant only three stars, but after having tasted four dishes(all of them a miss), I have no choice. Here’s a list of what I’ve ordered and tasted: the spaghetti with meatballs… meatballs were ok, but no flavor to the pasta or sauce; the chicken parm… again kind of bland and not really a big piece of chicken; the pomodoro flatbread with pesto and eggplant… the pesto made the whole pizza soggy and the crust couldn’t hold up; the Gemelli Al Giardino(pasta twists)…not too bad, creamy but the sauce felt too heavy. The tiramisu was good. On the plus side, portions are generous, wine is decent and there’s great outdoor seating. You’ll always be greeted warmly and welcomed by the gentleman up front and you’ll likely get good service, like I did.

Service ok. Bread is phenom! Pasta is delicious, ambiance quaint. Outside seating lovely. Not sure what the 1 stars about… No way do they deserve that.

The location is nicely located right near Central Park and the outside seating was very nice for the beautiful fall day. The mozzarella appetizer was delicious — just what I would expect from an Italian place. I got the chicken parmesan sandwich which was just what you would expect it to be. It wasn’t amazing but it wasn’t terrible either. The fries were amazing though. The service was slow — one waitress for about 16 tables. Seemed like a typical NYC Italian restaurant(besides the ones in Little Italy). If you want real Italian go down to Little Italy.

One of the stars goes to the service. Food was OK at MOST. Portions for some dishes were pretty big. Overpriced. $ 80 meal seemed more like a $ 40 one. I’d probably go with Olive Garden next time.

Mostly good food, definitely pros and cons to experience. Pros: Very good sized portions. Nicely seasoned food. Fresh made bread, similar to a foccacia, but nothing on top. Good staff. Our waitress was very helpful, explaining things to my parents and doing some customizations(change of a sauce, exclusion of an item). They were good about refilling our water without being chased. Despite some reviews, it is reasonably priced for the area you are in, which is how it should be evaluated.(If you want to compare pricing against lower east side or hell’s kitchen go look at restaurants in that area). Cons: Tiny tables for 4(would recommend for 2, 3, maybe 5 – 6, larger parties will be very challenged in setting up tables). Mixed quality on food(bread was under cooked, gnocchi was over sauced pasta special was excellent, Linguini Frutti de Mar was also very good). The Pesto gnocchi was very over sauced and the gnocchi itself was good(a little dense for my taste). Two of us had the pasta special we had(fusilli with chicken, sausage and shrimp, one with a tomato/oil sauce one with marinara) was very tasty and had good amount of all proteins. The Linguini Frutti de Mar was well seasoned and had a good amount of fish in it.

Super delicious food, cute restaurant(albeit a little packed), underwhelming service. I got a shrimp dish that was fantastic, and I highly recommend. Servers were decently attentive all through the meal, and then totally ignored us for about half an hour after they cleared our plates. So obviously that was annoying. But I like to think that maybe that was an anomaly? Bill came out to over $ 100 for two people after dessert, but I feel like it’s a semi-upscale place near Lincoln Center, so that’s unsurprising. I wouldn’t rush back here, but it’s not a bad option if you’re looking for a pre-show meal.

Overpriced blend food. It is located on a prime upper west side and has a great inviting atmosphere. Yet their food(chicken&parm) tasted as if they’ve microwaved the chicken and put some mozzarella on top to make it look worth $ 26. Their fresh pasta was blend as well. It was $ 105 meal worth only $ 40 or less. We are not coming back.

I’m not sure why this place has such a crappy average review. I was with a group of seven, and all of us thought that the food was very good. The only knock against it is that being UWS and near Lincoln Center, everything is ~30% more expensive, but at least they don’t skimp on the portions. Expect to spend at least $ 30+ per dish there, after tax and tip. The complimentary bread was much better than the standard white bread you get — it was actually focaccia bread, and they put garlic in the olive oil and give you actual whole olives, something that I haven’t seen in most restaurants. Another person and I order the Fusilli Lunghi Arrabbiata, and we both thought that it was really good. Spicy, tasty, and just the right amount of cream. Other people loved their dishes as well. What confused me was that the waitress could take as many credit cards as we had, but had to split them all evenly.

Food/Service: This food is amazing! Every dish that I have had here was delicious, and I’ve had many. The waiters are attentive, personable and very good at suggesting great pairings of wines to compliment whatever you order. It is also a great place to try new wines. Dessert menu is not vast, but everything they offer is cooked well. This is the kind of place I can go and rest assured because the food will be well prepared, served fresh hot and it’s going to be great! Atmosphere: Very romantic setting, all the tables have candles and the place is dimly lit, so you may not want to attempt a business lunch here. Cool, casual New York vibe, and fair number of celebrity sighting here. You can pop in during the colder weather for a rich cappuccino and a biscotti, as its always so cozy and inviting inside. Also they have great specials for the lunch crowd and fun outdoor seating for people watching in the warm weather. Cost: About average for the area.
