Even when it’s snowy, ice cream is a good idea! I had the chocolate bun with peanut butter ice cream. The bun was warm and delicious and made the ice cream melt in the most glorious way!
I only wish there was more chocolate in the bun because it tasted a little more on the doughy side.

Stopped by Popbar for the first time. I was really looking forward to trying this place. On the plus side: the quality of the pops was very good. I tried the mixed berry dipped in dark choc w/​. coconut (delicious), and I ordered a choc gelato pop with pistachios and no dip. The pistachios did not adhere to the choc gelato pop, so the woman behind the counter slipped the pop in a clear bag and most the remaining nuts fell off and were sitting in the bottom of the bag. When I asked if it would work better if I agreed to have the pop dipped in chocolate and then apply the nuts, she said yes, and then kindly did so for me. This pop was actually a bit too rich for me once it was done, but Popbar definitely uses quality ingredients. Each bar costs ~ $ 5.00, which I think is fair for what you are getting.
The minuses (which brought down my rating to 2 stars): There is some serious cross contamination going on in this place as a result of their process. When the woman got done dipping the above-​mentioned choc gelato pop, a number of my pistachios were left behind floating in the liquid chocolate container they dip other peoples’ pops in. There was also some coconut flakes in the chocolate from previous clients. Thankfully, I don’t have allergies, but if someone is allergic to any flavor pop offered or any topping, you’ve got to avoid this place. For example, all the pops get dipped into the same pool of dark chocolate… what if someone is allergic to mixed berries and got their pop dipped in dark chocolate right after my berry pop mentioned above was dipped?
My second issue: the place was not as clean as I expected. The display case had smudges on it, the toppings /​dip area was messy with drippings and consequently did not look sanitary, and the prep table behind the counter was a mess.
I wish I could have given this place a better rating. I don’t feel compelled to return.

The chocolate tastes like cheap gelt that’s distributed for free by the Jewish guys around Hanukkah. Kid behind the counter was rude. A woman came in asking for directions and he responded with, «I don’t know, look it up on your smart phone.» I was also unaware that my chocolate stick was hidden in my closed to-​go cup and ended up walking out with an extra chocolate stick that’s displayed at the counter.
It’s fun to stir the chocolate, but it tastes cheap.

I remember late at night scrolling through my friend’s check ins and noticed he checked into this little shop. I opened the business and scrolled through the many pictures that made my mouth water at 1:30 in the morning. Well I couldn’t come here to resolve my unexpected dessert cravings because it was already closed. And I wasn’t about to opt for a popsicle from a nearby 24 hr deli either so I bookmarked it.
I was super excited to try PopBar but it turns out to be more of a SobBar.
There wasnt anything special about this place besides the claim that it is handmade fresh every day and there are no preservatives.
They had a huge selection of uncommon flavors, like passionfruit, green tea, pineapple, mocha, blood orange, banana, etc. The popbars may be freshly made, but the fruits weren’t necessarily fresh.
The dipping process wasnt too sanitary either. The chocolates would mix with other chocolates. After dipping, she put my popsicle on this little station as I reached for my wallet. That’s when I noticed that thr station wasn’t cleaned after every use.
I don’t know what the hype was but at least PopBar wasn’t a Joke’sBar.

Pretty decent snack for an unusually warm and humid late-​December day. It’s gelato on a stick that you can customize with dips in chocolate and nuts. Not bad, but at $ 4, this will just be a good place to try out, and won’t be a regular snack spot.

I found these Popsicles a little underwhelming. Tasty and a nice treat on a hot summer day, but not nearly as good as I expected.

I have been wanting to try this because it seem like such a fun idea to be able to customize my own popsicle. Actually going there and going through the whole process, it wasn’t that amazing. At the end of the day, it is just a popsicle that can get covered in chocolate and various toppings.
They offer a good variety of PopGelato and PopSorbetto. I got the peach PopSorbetto and it was pretty good on its own, fresh, no need to add any additional toppings. The white chocolate coating was awesome VERY sweet. If you don’t like your dessert being excessively sweet, maybe you should opt for the dark chocolate coating instead.
I don’t think I will be stopping by again since it is $ 3 for a popsicle and I can easily get one for $ 1.50 at a deli.

Finally got to try popbar after years of passing by it. I don’t know why it took me so long to try it. I love their concept. You choose a bar and you can customize it. You can get it dipped in chocolate and add toppings for extra cost.
I really wanted mine dark chocolate dipped with nuts so I chose to go with the green tea instead of my favorite gelato flavor, hazelnut. My friend went with the hazelnut and let me try hers and I totally regret not getting it. We both felt that the hazelnut was a better choice. It had more flavor than the green tea. I enjoyed mine nonetheless and devoured it way too quickly.

I love popbar, and I fell in love at first bite (yes I admit, I tend to eat these Popsicles pretty quickly!).
I love the fruit flavors (mango, apricot, grapefruit) and also the gelato.
The chocolate and nuts definitely pair smoother with the nuttier gelato flavors but they’re good with the fruit flavors too.
You can’t go wrong with getting a popbar in its pure form. The nuts drown out the taste of the fruit a bit. It’s always hard not to get it dipped though because it’s so beautiful!

What’s a way to cool down on a hot humid summer day in New York? Why, with a popsicle of course.
It might be a bit pricey but you’re paying for the exotic flavors, endless options for toppings and plus they even have gelato!
Between the green tea gelato bar and a passion fruit bar I tried, the gelato was definitely the winner.
You can’t deny that this place is hip and Pop-​pin’.

Went to lower Manhattan specifically for Joe’s Pizza, and what’s conveniently located right next to Joe’s? Yes, Popbar! So after we had our «slices of heaven» from Joe’s, we naturally headed right over for some pops. Never had one of these hand-​crafted popsicles before, so I was pretty pumped when we saw PopBar. My first impression? Wow! Almost $ 5 for a popsicle… more if you indulge on the dips and toppings. But… we are in New York City after all, so I guess it comes with the territory. I tried the hazelnut gelato pop, dipped in chocolate, topped with nuts. It was really good! They have an assortment of flavors, including sorbets. They also have a few sauces to dip your pop in — milk, dark and white chocolate. AND… another assortment of toppings, from coconut, pistachios, hazelnut, sprinkles, etc. Would do this everyday if it didn’t break the bank.

Ambience: Place is small and simple
Ice cream: So so many options of flavors and yummy toppings.
We got the hazelnut bar, dipped in the dark chocolate, then in coconut, then in chocolate again and then in hazelnut/​almond mix… the result was a delish and crunchy dessert orgasm.
Price is a little pricey, but worth it!

I got a vanilla bar with milk and white chocolate. The staff was nice enough to take me through the process and suggest toppings that would suit well with my bar as it was my first time. However, it is a little pricey, and for the price I’m paying, I’d rather go somewhere else to get better tasting gelato/​ice cream. The store also doesn’t have a lot of seating (maybe 3 – 4 bar stools only).
Overall, I’m a fan of popbar’s concept, but I won’t come back.

I popped in here when I was craving something fruity and tangy. I asked what they would recommend. In the end I went with the passion fruit, which was as vibrant as expected and slightly sour, which was also what I was looking for. When I asked if they recommended a topping, they steered me away, warning me that the passion fruit flavor was so subtle any topping would take away from it. I wasn’t disappointed.
I’ve avoided this place for so long there must be a reason. I think I might have tried the hazelnut once and found it hard and icy. I prefer my ice cream out of pop form– and there are so many alternatives in this area. Right at the end of the block at the corner of Bleecker and 6^th Ave is Grom and just up the street on Bleecker heading towards 7^th is Cones. L’Arte de Gelato used to be on the corner of Barrows and 7^th Ave. They’ve since moved, but I prefer L’Arte to all the others.

Was so excited to try this place during my visit to New York. I mean, what’s better than eating popsicles on a summer day in the city?
You pretty much pick your flavor of popsicle, and if you like, choose a dip and toppings. My friend got the pistachio popsicle with dark chocolate and almonds. I really wanted something fresh and fruity so I opt for the mango, half dipped in dark chocolate and coconut shavings. I can’t say which flavor is better because the pistachio is more creamy, and the mango is a sorbet. It really depends on what mood you’re in. Both were delicious though! There’s a little square/​park across from PopBar, so my friend and I sat on a bench, ate our popsicles and people watched. Sounds like a beautiful summer day to me! I’m already craving it, definitely one of the top things I’m looking forward to when I come back!

Staff was friendly and helpful, but the pop I got (green tea) was terribly salty. A little heads up from the staff would’ve been nice for a first timer expecting a sweet surprise.
If i had gotten a different flavor, I probably would return. Be that as it may, I’m abstaining from popbar for a while.

I LOVE THIS PLACE. It’s the perfect dessert spot for summer and any other season. It’s gelato on a stick… Made with fresh, natural ingredients and dipped in different types of chocolate with the option to add toppings. Such a simple, yet delicious concept.
I’ve been to Popbar numerous times and twice this weekend! Some flavors I’ve tried (all dipped in milk chocolate): Dulce de Leche (probably my favorite flavor– extremely sweet, rich, wonderful); peanut butter (just delicious); pumpkin (seasonal treat– nice and yummy).
Recently I had the coffee with milk chocolate and that was delectable. Loved the smooth coffee-​chocolate taste. Today I had the strawberry yogurt with a new dipping sauce: Caramel dark chocolate. I loved the strawberry taste– Very creamy, sweet (but not overly so), refreshing! And I enjoyed the dark chocolate, but I felt like the caramel flavor was not that strong.
I really want to try the blood orange, green tea, hazelnut, pistachio & mixed berry flavors next. Looks like I’ll have to come back quite often… Which is perfectly fine by me! This is one of the few establishments I would travel out of my way to go to!
Tip: The popsicles melt quickly, so it’s better to stay in the store/​sit right outside to enjoy/​eat it versus walking out with it.

I absolutely love anything to do with ice cream! When popbar was right in front of me, I knew I had to try it and fell in love.
Popbar has different flavored Popsicles which you can customize. You can customize it with various nuts and chocolate! The end result is always delicious. On the downside, it is a bit pricey for what it is worth.

Delicious treat on a hot day.
Had the lemon sorbet dipped in dark chocolate and had a couple bites of the pistachio gelato dipped in dark chocolate and rolled in pistachios.
I liked the lemon better.

Such a cool and unique concept! PopBar is a small little shop with super nice workers who — if you’re anything like me – will patiently wait while you take all the flavors in, snapchat, and finally decide the unique recipe of your PopBar. I would agree with the 3 star rating this place currently has if you only consider the gelato (doesn’t really have the creaminess of gelato), but the variety of flavors and toppings totally make up for it!
You can go all out and have different toppings on each side of your PopBar! I went with a simpler almond + dark chocolates, but I will definitely try the Pistachio + nut toppings next time I am here! A little on the pricier side, but it’s definitely worth a try (and makes for a super cute Instagram picture)!
