Less than one star if I could, deli man told me fuk you after I questioned him on my 3thin slices of Swiss cheese, that anywhere else would be 3.00 and he charged me 8.00, and after dropping it on their most disgusting floor, ran it under water and said here’s your cheese… 3slices of funky floor cheese for 8.00… DONOEATHERE… I live on the same street as this gross place, will never come here again. !!! How dare you tell me Fuk You !!!

It’s funny, when I wrote my original review of Poppy’s 4.5 years ago, I lived nowhere near this bodega. In fact, I didn’t even live in New York. I lived in San Francisco. Fast forward roughly 1,500 days and I’m a daily customer. I routinely stop in for my favorite comfort food staple of the morning: bacon, egg, and cheese on a roll. Simple, fast, cheap… it’s not Michelle Obama’s ideal way to wake up, but who cares? Live a little, Lady O! On days I work from home, it’s not uncommon that I get all my calories in a given day from Poppy’s(sad, I know). Bacon, egg and cheese for breakfast, one of their 30 some odd sandwiches for lunch, and something equally unhealthy for dinner. It’s what New York living is all about. You don’t choose bodegas in the city, bodegas choose you. In this case, I’ve been chosen by much worse than Poppy’s.

Not everyday you find the charm of a cook who eats part of your turkey with his fingers while leaning over your food on the grill. Add to that a half assed effort to wear one glove, but preps food with the bare hand because his cell phone is in the other and you have the iconic«board of health» special. If only I enjoyed my food as much as the cook. I was too grossed out to unwrap it.

Every day when I was a student teacher in Alphabet City, I would walk a different route to school from the train in search of the best bodega coffee. UNTIL I FOUNDPOPPY’S. The end.

Extremely small and one of the aisles is too narrow, even for skinny me, but they do have a solid selection of cookies, chips, granola bars, yogurt, drinks, etc. I was actually surprised that they had so many flavors of Chobani yogurt. The workers are super nice!

Poppy, you really have grown on me. Your turkey bacon, egg and cheese on a whole wheat wrap gets me through even the toughest morning. Your coffee comes free with the breakfast and you’ve event added a pretty high brow selection of kombuchas. Chia anyone? I’ve gotten to know the guys behind the counter here pretty well and they always are friendly, a little snarky and just the right kind of friendly that you get from being neighbors. Too legit to quit.

Great place to pick up something good to eat. the owner is very friendly and the prices are not to bad. this spot can get pretty busy in the morning and once you become a regular you can just call in. ONIT

I discovered this place a couple years ago when I use to work around the block. This is a great deli to go to if you are hungry and just don’t really know what to eat. The guys there are really friendly and will whip up anything for you as long as they have the stuff for it. Most important of all, it’s clean and the service is superb.

Poppy can deliver, poppy’s got food on the go, poppy’s got beverages. Poppy’s Gourmet Corner is a local deli that sits in Stuvysant Town/Alphabet City where I needed to replinish my juicy sweetness for a bottle of green tea at $ 1.25. Poppy can jive. Lottery tickets? Ya, poppy’s got it! Gonna go to poppy again… Though poppy has limited stuff, he does not entice me for a return visit!
