Post Luminaria

Having lived at Post Luminaria for a little over a year, I am already sad my lease is ending next August! PL is the ideal place to live in the city– clean, well maintained, and the perks are impossible to beat. The gym, while small, is included in the rent. There is a beautiful terrace on the second floor, complete with dining areas and outdoor furniture – same as the rooftop. Rooms are normal for NYC – maybe even a (tiny) bit bigger than usual. Best of all– it’s really clean and it tip top shape.
My only problem with PL is the location. It’s such a great building with stellar management, but I wish it was closer to subways, restaurants, etc.

Great staff, apartments are a touch on the smaller side but the rent is affordable.

We lived here for a year, and loved almost every minute of it. The doormen and staff are beyond friendly and helpful — we still see them occasionally even though we’ve moved out. They go out of their way to help residents — walk dogs, check on your apartment while you’re away, make sure repairs are done quickly, calm down the occasional loud neighbor, etc. Also the building is extremely pet-​friendly, even for larger dogs, which is unusual in the city. The amenities are great: furnished rooftop, second floor deck, gym in the building. The building is an interesting mix of people — everything from families with several children, to young or old couples, to college students.
That being said, we had some less than great experiences with the building management, and some difficulty getting service requests fulfilled. We once had a non-​working air conditioning unit for almost a month during the summer, which was inconvenient. But the super is an incredibly friendly and nice person — just busy so you sometimes have to remind him you need something.
The only reason we moved out is because the rent went up exponentially (3500 for a one bedroom that isn’t really even in Gramercy?). That is not worth it for the area — right next to Stuy Town, hospitals, etc., and very little neighborhood feel or restaurants/​bars nearby. If you can afford it and don’t mind the walk to the subway, the building itself is excellent.

Home sweet home.
These are the friendliest doormen I’ve encountered, and the super is super on his game. The building has some nice common areas and is pet friendly, too. Plus you can pay your rent online, which is a nice convenience.

Lived here since June 2009. The operation is efficient and friendly; from the signing of the lease to concierge to maintenance. Rent and maintenance requests are handled online and given prompt attention. BIG PLUS: If you are a pet owner, this building is very pet friendly. Own two dogs (Lab and Golden retrievers) and a cat. Very rare to find a building that will accept such an arrangement.
